Water quality monitoring and evaluation using remote sensing techniques in China:a systematic review显示文摘Introduction:The application of remote-sensing techniques for water quality assessment has become increasingly popular in China. However, existing reviews are often limited to qualitative description and are quite fragmented.Outcomes:We conducted a quantitative systematic review to display current research status and identify the existing challenges and future directions. Our review revealed that the application of remote-sensing techniques in water quality research has expanded dramatically in China, but the spatial distribution is quite uneven.Second, the ground object spectrometer is the most widely applied data source.Water color indicators such as chlorophyll a and suspended solid are the most widely investigated in China.Third, semiempirical method is the most commonly used inversion method.Existing studies rarely considered the anthropogenic factors, which limited the model robustness and its application in humandominated aquatic ecosystems.Discussion and Conclusion:We concluded that,in the past several decades,China has made notable progresses in monitoring and evaluation of water quality using the remote-sensing techniques(especially in inland lakes). We proposed that further improvements would be needed in terms of temporal and spatial coverage, indicator list, the incorporation of human–nature interactions, inversion accuracy, and model generalization. | Xiaoyan Wang Wu Yang | 2019 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2019,5,1: | 14
Effects of biochar application on fluxes of three biogenic greenhouse gases: a meta- analysis显示文摘Biochar application to cropland has been recommended as a strategy to reduce increasing at-mospheric CO2 concentrations and mitigate climate change. However, the direction and magnitude of responses of greenhouse gas(GHG)fluxes to biochar application to cropland remain unclear. Our meta-analysis of 296 observations across 61 studies for the first time quantitatively estimated the effects of biochar amendment on fluxes of three GHGsCO2,N2O,and CH4.The results showed that biochar application led to a significant change in soil GHGs emissions:in general,19%for CO2,−16%for N2O(P<0.05),but no pronounced change in CH4 emissions;in paddy,−5%for CO2,−20%for N2O,but+19%for CH4(P<0.05);in upland,−18%for N2O,+12%for CO2,and high uncertainty for CH4.The responses of soil GHG flux-es to biochar application were regulated mainly by experiment length, biochar application rate, biochar properties, providing a new perspective for more comprehensive understanding on biochar. The bio-char derived from husk was recommended to apply to cropland with an application rate of 20-30 t·ha^(−1). | Xinzhang Song Genxing Pan Chao Zhang Lu Zhang Hailong Wang | 2016 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2016,2,2: | 8
Evolution and future of urban ecological science:ecology in,of,and for the city显示文摘The contrast between ecology in cities and ecology of cities has emphasized the increasing scope of urban ecosystem research.Ecology in focuses on terrestrial and aquatic patches within cities, suburbs, and exurbs as analogs of non-urban habitats.Urban fabric outside analog patches is considered to be inhospi-table matrix.Ecology of the city differs from ecology in by treating entire urban mosaics as social-ecolog-ical systems.Ecology of urban ecosystems incorporates biological, social, and built components.Originally posed as a metaphor to visualize disciplinary evolution, this paper suggests that the contrast has conceptual, empirical, and methodological contents. That is,the contrast constitutes a disciplinary or“local”paradigm shift. The paradigm change between ecology in and ecology of represents increased complexity, moving from focus on biotic communities to holistic social-ecological systems.A third paradigm, ecology for the city, has emerged due to concern for urban sustainability. While ecology for includes the knowledge generated by both ecology in and ecology of,it considers researchers as a part of the system, and acknowledges that they may help envision and advance the social goals of urban sustainability.Using urban heterogeneity as a key urban feature, the three paradigms are shown to contrast in five important ways:disciplinary focus, the relevant theory of spatial heterogeneity, the technology for representing spatial structure, the resulting classification of urban mosaics, and the nature of application to sustainability.Ecology for the city encourages ecologists to engage with other specialists and urban dwellers to shape a more sustainable urban future. | Steward T.A.Pickett Mary L.Cadenasso Daniel L.Childers Mark J.McDonnell Weiqi Zhou | 2016 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2016,2,7: | 7
Global methane and nitrous oxide emissions from terrestrial ecosystems due to multiple environmental changes显示文摘Greenhouse gas(GHG)-induced climate change is among the most pressing sustainability challenges facing humanity today, posing serious risks for ecosystem health.Methane(CH_(4))and nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)are the two most important GHGs after carbon dioxide(CO_(2)),but their regional and global budgets are not well known. In this study,we applied a process-based coupled biogeochemical model to concurrently estimate the magnitude and spatial and temporal patterns of CH_(4)and N_(2)O fluxes as driven by multiple environmental changes, including climate variability, rising atmospheric CO_(2),increasing nitrogen deposition, tropospheric ozone pollution, land use change, and nitrogen fertilizer use.The estimated CH_(4)and N_(2)O emissions from global land ecosystems during 1981-2010 were 144.39±12.90 Tg C/yr(mean 62 SE;1 Tg=1012 g)and 12.52±0.74 Tg N/yr,respectively.Our simulations indicated a significant(P,0.01)annually increasing trend for CH_(4)(0.43±0.06 Tg C/yr)and N_(2)O(0.14±0.02 Tg N/yr)in the study period.CH_(4)and N_(2)O emissions increased significantly in most climatic zones and continents, especially in the tropical regions and Asia. The most rapid increase in CH_(4)emission was found in natural wetlands and rice fields due to increased rice cultivation area and climate warming.N_(2)O emission increased substantially in all the biome types and the largest increase occurred in upland crops due to increasing air temperature and nitrogen fertilizer use.Clearly, the three major GHGs(CH_(4),N_(2)O,and CO_(2))should be simultaneously considered when evaluating if a policy is effective to mitigate climate change. | Hanqin Tian Guangsheng Chen Chaoqun Lu Xiaofeng Xu Wei Ren Bowen Zhang Kamaljit Banger Bo Tao Shufen Pan Mingliang Liu Chi Zhang Lori Bruhwiler Steven Wofsy | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,1: | 7
Spatio-temporal characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in different landform areas with a case study in Northeast China显示文摘Assessing the temporal and spatial characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation is necessary to identify management practices that can reduce negative environmental effects. Thus, the purpose of this study was to use principal component analysis and spatial autocorrelation to analyze the dynamic characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in different landform areas in Liaoning Province,China,in terms of time and space. An additional objective was to match the changes with the natural and social environment to support the sustainable development of fragmented cultivated land. The results indicated that the evolutionary trends of cultivated land fragmentation in the central plain area showed a weakening trend, contrary to those observed in the western hilly and eastern mountainous areas. Moreover, the spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the western hilly area were generally“external low, internal high,”primarily because of the edge density of cultivated land patches. The spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the central plain area were generally“external high, internal low,”primarily because of the number and division of cultivated land patches. The spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the eastern mountainous area were generally“south low, north high”because of the division of cultivated land patches. These results can provide guidelines for planners,managers,decision-makers and others to formulate regulatory policies, identify land remediation areas, and promote the sustainable development of cultivated land. | Fengkui Qian Yanru Chi Rattan Lal Klaus Lorenz | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 6
Global urbanization as a shifting context for applying ecological science toward the sustainable city显示文摘There is an abundance of conceptual frameworks relevant to sustainability in urban systems. However,to advance urban ecological science and its application to sustainable urban transformations, key existing frameworks must be synthesized. This paper is a conceptual synthesis cast in essay form in order to encompass a broad range of relevant ideas. It starts from the premise that the familiar models of metropolitan and megalopolitan urban structure,of industrially driven urban development, and of the contrasts between urban and non-urban lands are manifestly inadequate representations of evolving global reality.Such inadequacy is illustrated with examples from the United States and from China. Both the form and the interactions involved in contemporary urbanization and urban change suggest the need for a new integrated framework synthesizing two existing yet still evolving concepts:(1)The urban megaregion framework accommodates the spatial extent, interdigitation of contrasting land uses, and the linked spatial relations between nominally urban and nominally rural areas.(2)The new concept of the continuum of urbanity emphasizes the shifts in livelihood and lifestyle driven by regional and global teleconnections and their joint effects on local environments and landscapes.Together these frameworks suggest a common conceptual structure for addressing urban areas of different ages, sizes, forms, and dynamics in both urbanizing and urbanized areas in developing and developed countries and regions. The synthesis of frameworks points to empirical research needs, and has the potential to better match sustainability plans and actions with the diverse urban forms and dynamics now appearing around the world. | Steward T.A.Pickett Weiqi Zhou | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,1: | 6
Analysis of intrinsic value and estimating losses of “blue carbon”in coastal wetlands:a case study of Yancheng, China显示文摘Introduction:Large stocks of“blue carbon”exist in the ecosystems of coastal wetlands. This paper presents a case study of the Chinese city of Yancheng.First, through field surveys and laboratory analysis, changes in the organic carbon(OC)content in typical plant communities throughout the study area are described in detail.Second,an OC burial rate and economic value model is constructed to analyze the composition of the carbon sink values.Outcomes/other:The results are as follows:Of the typical plant communities,Spartina alterniflora has the highest OC content(5.80 g·kg-1),followed by Suaeda glauca(4.78 g·kg-1)and Phragmites australis(3.76 g·kg-1);the contemporary OC sedimentation rates are 2.01,1.48,and 1.22 cm·yr-1,respectively.Spartina alterniflora communities have the highest annual average carbon sink value($418.74/ha)in the study area, followed by Phragmites australis($176.29/ha)and Suaeda glauca($101.54/ha).Discussion:As a result of both the expansion of the Spartina alterniflora area and coastal erosion, the total OC value since 1987 has displayed two-stage characteristics:it first increased and then decreased. Conclusion:In recent years, the annual average decline in OC value has ranged from approximately$82,100 to$123,100(reference:the Sweden carbon tax provided by the World Bank,130$/ton) | Zheng Zang | 2019 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2019,5,1: | 5
Integrated evaluation of payments for ecosystem services programs in China:a systematic review显示文摘Introduction:During the past two decades, payments for ecosystem services(PES)program has become a popular conservation paradigm for realigning socioeconomic costs and benefits among different stakeholders. As billions of investment flows into the natural capital pool, there is growing interest to understand the ecological, economic, and social outcomes of PES programs.China is one of the countries that extensively implements PES programs.Although there is a growing interest to perform impact evaluation of China’s massive PES programs,it is unclear that what existing literature has done, has not done, and should do in the future. Therefore,to guide further research and practices,we conduct a systematic review of studies on China’s PES programs. Results:Our review shows that there are growing impact evaluation studies of PES programs in China. However, the spatial and ecosystem distributions of existing studies are quite uneven. Most case studies were poorly designed, rarely quantified, and evaluated without sophisticated methods.Among the three dimensions of ecological effectiveness, economic efficiency, and social equity, economic efficiency is the least studied.Discussion and Conclusion:We further discuss the challenges and opportunities and provide insights for future research. To improve the understanding and management of natural capital,we call for mainstreaming impact evaluation of ecosystem service policies in China and beyond following the state-of-art procedures. | Wu Yang Qiaoling Lu | 2018 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2018,4,3: | 5
Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS)of China:the challenge of complexity in research显示文摘The challenge of researching Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS)as complex systems forms the subject matter of this study.Complex adaptive systems are those that combine natural ecological processes with human interactions to produce a mutually supportive agro-ecological system. In China, these highly varied systems have the added dimension of long historical time,in that they have evolved over many centuries and thus add a historical dimension to the natural and human dimensions of complexity. In preparing research on GIAHS,it is clear that seeing GIAHS sites as whole systems is an essential starting and ending point.Examining the adaptive capacity of a GIAHS with its multiple scales and complex interdependencies is a major challenge for researchers accustomed to specialized disciplinary thinking.A GIAHS represents a mature agro-ecological system with human agency as a central component that has been honed over many centuries, and has already adapted to many perturbations and changes. The beauty of the GIAHS is in the integration of custom, knowledge, and practice, and it should be studied for its'wholeness'as well as for its resilience and capacity for'self organization.'The agro-ecological approach opens the possibility of researching a system as a whole and of taking its complexity seriously. This study reviews the essential features of the GIAHS as a complex adaptive system where uncertainty is normal and surprise is welcome and,in a case study of Qingtian rice–fish culture system, focuses on new perturbations, namely loss of young people and the introduction of tourism. | Anthony M.Fuller Qingwen Min Wenjun Jiao Yanying Bai | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,2: | 4
Towards a paradigm for open and free sharing of scientific data on global change science in China显示文摘Despite great progress in data sharing that has been made in China in recent decades, cultural, policy, and technological challenges have prevented Chinese researchers from maximizing the availability of their data to the global change science community. To achieve full and open exchange and sharing of scientific data,Chinese research funding agencies need to recognize that preserva-tion of,and access to,digital data are central to their mission, and must support these tasks accord-ingly.The Chinese government also needs to develop better mechanisms, incentives, and rewards, while scientists need to change their behavior and culture to recognize the need to maximize the usefulness of their data to society as well as to other researchers. The Chinese research communi-ty and individual researchers should think globally and act personally to promote a paradigm of open, free, and timely data sharing, and to increase the effectiveness of knowledge development. | Changhui Peng Xinzhang Song Hong Jiang Qiuan Zhu Huai Chen Jing MChen Peng Gong Chang Jie Wenhua Xiang Guirui Yu Xiaolu Zhou | 2016 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2016,2,5: | 4
Impacts of land conversion and management measures on net primary productivity in semi-arid grassland显示文摘Ecological restoration measures implemented in China have profoundly impacted vegetation NPP.This study aimed to estimate the effects of the land conversion and management measures on the grassland ecosystem in semi-arid regions.Land use data were employed from 2000 to 2015 to compare land conversion and coverage changes in Xilingol grassland. Then, the contributions of land conversion and management policies were quantified by assessing the difference between actual NPP and climate-induced NPP changes. The results indicated that the grassland area had a net loss of 534.42 km^(2),and the net area of increased vegetation coverage was 74,683.05 km^(2).Furthermore,the total NPP increased by 8,010.73 Gg C·yr^(−1)(1 Gg=10^(9)g),of which the human activities, including grazing management measures(+6,809.40 Gg C·yr^(−1))and land conversion(45.72 Gg C·yr^(−1))contributed to 85.58%of the increase in NPP.Transformation from desert and farmland dominated grassland expansion and NPP increase, while urbanization and desertification caused large grassland reduction and NPP loss. The grazing management increased vegetation NPP in most regions except for some regions in the desert steppe and the farming-pastoral zone.Related policies should be further adjusted to strengthen the management of the desert steppe and farming-pastoral regions. | Feifei Cao Jiaxun Li Xiao Fu Gang Wu | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 4
Socioecological drivers facilitating biodiversity conservation in traditional farming landscapes显示文摘Traditional farming landscapes have evolved as tightly coupled socioecological systems that support high biodiversity.However,land-use change severely threatens the high biodiversity of these landscapes.Navigating nature conservation in such landscapes requires a thorough understanding of the key drivers underpinning biodiversity.Through empirical research on mammals, birds, butterflies, and plants in a traditional cultural landscape in Romania,we revealed seven hypothesized drivers facilitating biodiversity conservation.Similar proportions of three main land-use types support the landscape species pool, most likely through habitat connectivity and frequent spillover between land-use types.Landscape complementation and supplementation provide additional habitat for species outside their core habitats.Gradients of woody vegetation cover and gradients in land-cover heterogeneity provide mosaic landscapes with wide ranges of resources.Traditional land-use practices underpin landscape heterogeneity, traditional land-use elements such as wood pastures, and human-carnivore coexistence.Top-down predator control may limit herbivore populations.Lastly, cultural ties between humans and nature have a central influence on people’s values and sustainable use of natural resources.Conservation approaches should aim to maintain or restore these socioecological drivers by targeting the heterogeneous character of the forest-farmland mosaic at large scales through'broad and shallow'conservation measures. These large-scale measures should be complemented with'deep and narrow'conservation measures addressing specific land-use types, threats,or species. In both cases, conservation measures should integrate the entire socioecological system,by recognizing and strengthening important links between people and the environment. | Ine Dorresteijn Jacqueline Loos Jan Hanspach Joern Fischer | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,9: | 3
The compactness of spatial structure in Chinese cities:measurement, clustering patterns and influencing factors显示文摘Rapid urbanization in China has led to an excessive urban expansion of built-up areas, which makes quantitative research on compact city important. We adopted density and the degree of mixed land use to measure the compactness of 160 Chinese cities.Spatial autocorrelation analysis was performed to identify spatial clustering patterns, and the relationships between compactness and five variables were explored through regression models. The result shows that in nearly half of the cases, the calculated values of two indices are less than the average. The high or low values of density and the degree of mixed land use tend to be spatially clustered. The hot spot regions of density and the degree of mixed land use lie mainly in the south of China, while the north present as cold spots or the insignificant regions.Urban compactness can be affected by multifaceted factors and the relationships between compactness and five variables are not consistent throughout the areas of analysis. The GWR model can identify this phenomenon and provides a better fit than the OLS model. This study proposed a new approach to measure the compactness, and the results of GWR analysis can conducive to appropriate policy-making based on different local conditions. | Fangqi Zhao Lina Tang Quanyi Qiu Gang Wu | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 3
Agricultural water conservation in China:plastic mulch and traditional irrigation显示文摘Plastic mulch is commonly used with micro-irrigation in developed countries;however,Chinese farmers use plastic mulch on a vast scale independent of micro-irrigation.For the past three decades,China’s land area in plastic mulch has exceeded the world’s total land area in micro-irrigation.We report results from the water-scarce region of Minqin County, where 87%of Chinese farmers interviewed responded that they use plastic mulch to conserve water and 53%to increase yields.Survey results indicated the desire to conserve water through the use of plastic mulch to be statistically equivalent to the desire to increase yields.Responses to interviews and surveys indicate that farmers perceive water savings of 24-26%when plastic mulch is used.Interview and survey responses suggest farming families are shifting to purchasing wheat from outside the region;a potential import of'virtual water'into this water-scarce region. | Mark Ingman Mary V.Santelmann Bryan Tilt | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,4: | 3
A review on perfluoroalkyl acids studies:Environmental behaviors, toxic effects, and ecological and health risks显示文摘Perfluoroalkyl acids(PFAAs)are emerging persistent organic pollutants that are globally distributed in the environment. In the present review, the occurrence of PFAAs and their behavior in aquatic ecosystem were summarized, and the health and ecological risk assessment and the multimedia fate simulation were investigated.PFAAs are most likely to exist in the aqueous phase, and PFAAs in atmosphere are also able to enter water bodies through diffusion and wet and dry deposition and eventually become widely distributed in various environmental media. The air-solid partition is considered to be one of the major factors in the long-distance transportation of the pollutants. The pKa values and organic carbon fraction of the sediment could influence the partition of PFAAs between water and sediment.Otherwise,PFAAs have teratogenic, mutagenic and other toxic effects and they could be accumulated by biota, and magnified through trophic level. The ecological and health risks of PFOA and PFOS were assessment. In order to explore the partition mechanism and reduce the uncertainty of the simulation of the transport, transformation and fate, the experimental methods on physicochemical properties of PFAAs should be developed. Moreover, further studies on toxicities of PFAAs are necessary for health and ecological risk assessment. | Wenxiu Liu Jingyi Wu Wei He Fuliu Xu | 2019 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2019,5,1: | 3
Impact of coal power generation on the characteristics and risk of heavy metal pollution in nearby soil显示文摘Introduction:The development of coal power base(CPB)poses a severe challenge to the soil.We conducted a soil survey in Xilinhot CPB,to evaluate and analyze the pollution characteristics, potential ecological risk, and sources of six heavy metals(As,Pb,Cu,Zn,Mn,and Cd)in soil by using Geo-accumulation index, revised Nemerow integrated pollution index(RNIPI),and potential ecological risk index(RI).Outcomes/other:The results showed that the pollution of Cd and As were dramatic. The mean of Cd and As were 1.11 mg·kg^(-1) and 25.13 mg·kg^(-1),which were 42.55 times and 4.41 times higher than its local background value. The Geo-accumulation indices showed the contamination degree of Cd was strong and As was moderate, and the status of Cu,Pb,Zn,and Mn were uncontaminated.Xilinhot was strongly contaminated based on its RNIPI and RI values.Discussion:The accumulations of As,Pb,and Cd were mainly associated with anthropogenic sources, including coal mining and combustion, and industrial exhaust emissions.Cu,Mn,and Zn were primarily originated from the parent material(natural sources). Conclusion:This study provides scientific basis and effective countermeasures for the prevention and control of soil pollution in surrounding areas of CPB. | Yiqun Zhang Di Wu Chenxing Wang Xiao Fu Gang Wu | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 3
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the rhizosphere soil of poisonous plants depressed the growth of pasture grasses in the Tibetan Plateau Alpine meadow显示文摘In order to explore the influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi in the rhizosphere of poisonous plants on the neighboring pasture grasses in the Tibetan Plateau Alpine meadow ecosystem, rhizosphere soils were collected from eight different poisonous plants in degraded grasslands and one from pasture grass in non-degraded grasslands(CK).The collected soils were used as inocula to assess the influence of indigenous AM fungi on the growth of two typical pasture grass species,Elymus nutans and Poa pratensis,in a bioassay experiment.Five growth parameters and two AM parameters were determined. The mycorrhizal responsiveness and the importance value were calculated.Significant differences between the eight poisonous plants and CK were observed.Compared to CK,rhizosphere soil from the eight poisonous plants had lower AM fungal spore densities. The growth of E.nutans and P.pratensis seedlings was depressed with the inoculation from poisonous plants rhizosphere soil. This study demonstrated that the presence of poisonous plants with grassland degradation altered inherent AM fungal community abundance, and could exert inhibition effects on the growth of pasture grasses. It may attribute to discover the important role of rhizosphere soil of different poisonous plants to AM fungal community on the Alpine meadow. | Xiaojuan Wang Qiang Wang Liang Jin Li Sun Qian Wang Liang Zhang Yinglong Chen | 2019 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2019,5,1: | 3
Modeling the implementation of NDCs and the scenarios below 2°C for the Belt and Road countries显示文摘In order to understand better on medium-and long-term climate change issues in international cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI),this paper is meant to assess the implementation of National Determined Contributions(NDCs)of the BRI countries and the emission constraints under the Paris Agreement to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2℃ above pre-industrial levels, based on the Belt and Road Integrated Assessment Model(BRIAM)and the best available data. The results show that the BRI countries are expected to collectively reduce about 3.2 billion tons of CO_(2)emissions with the implementation of their NDCs by 2030.In order to achieve the global goal of 2℃,without appropriate mitigation burden sharing and enhanced climate finance support, the BRI countries will face big challenges to bridge the emission gaps. The investment in clean energy and related new infrastructures in BRI will rise sharply to above US$100 trillion by the end of this century accordingly with the increase in carbon price, which will also eventually have a significant impact on the price of electricity and oversea freight transport in a connecting world. | Chai Qimin Fu Sha Wen Xinyuan | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 3
Ecosystem health towards sustainability显示文摘Ecosystems are becoming damaged or degraded as a result of stresses especially associated with human activities.A healthy ecosystem is essential to provide the services that humans and the natural environment require and has tremendous social and economic value.Exploration of the definition of ecosystem health includes what constitutes health and what it means to be healthy. To evaluate ecosystem health,it is necessary to quantify ecosystem conditions using a variety of indicators. In this paper, the main principles and criteria for indicator selection, classification of indicators for different kinds of ecosystems, the most appropriate indicators for measuring ecosystem sustainability, and various methods and models for the assessment of ecosystem health are presented.Drivers, sustainability, and resilience are considered to be critical factors for ecosystem health and its assessment.Effective integration of ecological understanding with socioeconomic, biophysical, biogeochemical, and public-policy dimensions is still the primary challenge in this field, and devising workable strategies to achieve and maintain ecosystem health is a key future challenge. | Yonglong Lu Ruoshi Wang Yueqing Zhang Hongqiao Su Pei Wang Alan Jenkins Rober C.Ferrier Mark Bailey Geoff Squire | 2015 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,1: | 3
