| 2 | Influence of flue gas cleaning system on characteristics of PM_(2.5)emission from coal-fired power plants显示文摘This study investigated the influence of precipitators and wet flue gas desulfurization equipment on characteristics of PM_(2.5)emission from coal-fired power stations.We measured size distribution and removal efficiencies,including hybrid electrostatic precipitator/bag filters(ESP/BAGs)which have rarely been studied.A bimodal distribution of particle concentrations was observed at the inlet of each precipitator.After the precipitators,particle concentrations were significantly reduced.Although a bimodal distribution was still observed,all peak positions shifted to the smaller end.The removal efficiencies of hybrid ESP/BAGs reached 99%for PM_(2.5),which is considerably higher than those for other types of precipitators.In particular,the influence of hybrid ESP/BAG operating conditions on the performance of dust removal was explored.The efficiency of hybrid ESP/BAGs decreased by 1.9%when the first electrostatic field was shut down.The concentrations and distributions of particulate matter were also measured in three coal-fired power plants before and after desulfurization devices.The results showed diverse removal efficiencies for different desulfurization towers.The reason for the difference requires further research.We estimated the influence of removal technology for particulate matter on total emissions in China.Substituting ESPs with hybrid ESP/BAGs could reduce the total emissions to 104.3 thousand tons,with 47.48 thousand tons of PM_(2.5). | Ao Wang Qiang Song Gongming Tu Hui Wang Yong Yue Qiang Yao | 2014 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,1: | 16 |

| 5 | The tectonic uplift of the Hua Shan in the Cenozoic显示文摘Six granite samples were collected from six difference elevation locations at the Hua Shan in a main ridge of the Qinling Mountain. Apatite and zircon separated from these six samples were dated by the fission track technique. An assessment of the Cenozoic uplift or exhumation rate was obtained from the altitude difference of sampling samples dated by fission track, and from the difference of fission track dates of both apatite and zircon for a sample. The preliminary results suggest that the beginning of uplift of the Hua Shan was as early as 68.2 MaBP and the uplift rates for different periods are 0.02-0.19 mm/a (from the elevation difference) or 0.12-0.16 mm/a (from two mineral fission track dates). The average uplift rate is 0.12 mm/a (from the elevation difference) or 0.14 mm/a (from two mineral fission track dates). | 6 | Huanglong Cave, a new late Pleistocene hominid site in Hubei Province,China显示文摘For the past 20 years the modern hu- man origins debate has received a significant amount of attention in paleoanthropological research. Primar- ily supported by the evidence of earlier dates of anatomically modern human fossils and genetic studies, the “Out of Africa” hypothesis is based on the belief that the ancestor of all modern humans, in- cluding modern Chinese, came from Africa. The op- posite hypothesis “Mutiregional evolution” proposes that continuous evolution occurred on a regional scale, for which human paleontology offers strong support. However, due to the paucity of hominid fos- sils in China between 100 and 50 ka, support to the latter hypothesis is currently weak. This is a report here of five human fossil teeth, and associated stone tools and mammal fossils from a newly discovered cave site, Huanglong Cave, located in Yunxi County, Hubei Province, China. Preliminary studies indicate: (1) the morphological features of the human fossils resemble those of late Pleistocene human fossils from China; (2) the stone tools display patterns of both the southern and northern Paleolithic cultures of China; (3) the mammal fossils represent the “Ailuro- poda-Stegodon” faunal unit which lived in southern China throughout the Pleistocene. ESR and U-series dating on animal teeth and a stalagmite derived from the same layer as the human teeth indicate two possible ages: 103±1.6 ka and 44±12.5 ka. In addi- tion to other evidence presented here, it is believed that hominid occupation of the cave was likely around 100 ka. If this age is further substantiated, Huanglong Cave will be the first late Pleistocene hominid fossilsite in China where anatomically modern humans lived about 100 ka. | 10 | Fine grain IRSL and GLSL dating of late Quaternary sediments from North China显示文摘A possible approach to assess the fine grain OSL dating is discussed through comparison of equivalent dose (DE) values and ages obtained by IRSL and GLSL of fine grains for 31 sediment samples from North China. The IRSL and GLSL were measured with the same aliquots for each sample, i.e. shine-down was by 100 s of IRSL (880 nm) followed by 100 s of GLSL (514 nm) on the same discs. The DE values and ages found by IRSL are in good agreement with those by GLSL within 1-2σ for 80% samples, especially for aeolian loess samples. Considering that IRSL from feldspar differs obviously from GLSL dominated from quartz in dose response, thermal stability and optical bleaching characteristic, the agreement between the DE values may be taken as evidence that the two clocks of IRSL and GLSL had been well reset during deposition. | 12 | Reduced graphene oxide/silicon nanowire hetero- structures with enhanced photoactivity and superior photoelectrochemical stability显示文摘Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) have been widely studied as light harvesting antennas in photocatalysts due to their ability to absorb broad-spectrum solar radiation, but they are typically limited by poor photoelectrochemical stability. Here, we report the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide-SiNW (rGO-SiNW) heterostructures to achieve greatly improved photocatalytic activity and stability. The SiNWs were synthesized through a metal-assisted electroless etching process and functionalized with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) flakes through a chemical absorption process. Here, the rGO not only functions as a physical protection layer to isolate the SiNWs from the harsh electrochemical environment but also serves as a charge mediator to facilitate the charge separation and transport processes. Furthermore, the rGO may also function as a redox catalyst to ensure efficient utilization of photo-carriers for the desired chemical reactions. Photocatalytic dye degradation studies show that the photoactivity of the heterostructures can be significantly enhanced with an initial activation process and maintained without apparent decay over repeated reaction cycles. Electrochemical and photo- electrochemical studies indicate that the enhanced photoactivity and photostability can be attributed to the more efficient separation of photoexcited charge carriers in SiNWs and the reduced self-oxidation of the surface of the SiNWs during the photocatalytic dye degradation process. | 13 | Predicting heavy metals' adsorption edges and adsorption isotherms on MnO_2 with the parameters determined from Langmuir kinetics显示文摘Although surface complexation models have been widely used to describe the adsorption of heavy metals, few studies have verified the feasibility of modeling the adsorption kinetics,edge, and isotherm data with one p H-independent parameter. A close inspection of the derivation process of Langmuir isotherm revealed that the equilibrium constant derived from the Langmuir kinetic model, K S-kinetic, is theoretically equivalent to the adsorption constant in Langmuir isotherm, K S-Langmuir. The modified Langmuir kinetic model(MLK model) and modified Langmuir isotherm model(MLI model) incorporating p H factor were developed. The MLK model was employed to simulate the adsorption kinetics of Cu(II), Co(II), Cd(II), Zn(II) and Ni(II) on Mn O2 at p H 3.2 or 3.3 to get the values of K S-kinetic. The adsorption edges of heavy metals could be modeled with the modified metal partitioning model(MMP model), and the values of K S-Langmuir were obtained. The values of K S-kinetic and K S-Langmuir are very close to each other, validating that the constants obtained by these two methods are basically the same. The MMP model with K S-kinetic constants could predict the adsorption edges of heavy metals on Mn O2 very well at different adsorbent/adsorbate concentrations. | 17 | Effect of olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation on myelin repair and motor function in a rat model of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation can activate axonal regeneration and enhance myelin repair,which are beneficial for treating demyelinating diseases. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation on myelin repair, synaptophysin expression,and motor function in a rat model of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Provincial Hospital affiliated to Shandong University between August 2006 and September 2007. MATERIALS:Dibenzylamine(Hoechst 33342),luxol fast blue,and rabbit anti-rat synaptophysin antibody were provided by Sigma,USA. METHODS:Olfactory ensheathing cells extracted from neonatal Wistar rats were cultured for 10-14 days and labeled with dibenzylamine.Spinal cord extracted from a healthy guinea pig was homogenized and equally mixed with complete Freund's adjuvant;thereafter,the mixture was intracutaneously injected into two posterior voix pedis of healthy male Wistar rats to establish models of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis.Rats were randomly divided into a control encephalomyelitis group and an olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation group,36 rats in each group.Physiological saline(2μL) or an olfactory ensheathing cell suspension(2μL) was separately injected along lateral cerebral ventricle at day 7 post-model induction. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The migration and distribution of olfactory ensheathing cells were observed under fluorescence microscopy;myelin repair was detected using hematoxylin-eosin staining and luxol fast blue staining;synaptophysin expression was measured using immunohistochemical staining;motor function was evaluated using a motor function scale. RESULTS:Olfactory ensheathing cells could survive in vivo and migrate to the distal end of the transplant focus and spinal cord,and survived 21 days.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and luxol fast blue staining indicated that myelin in the transplantation group was intact,and the inflammatory focus gradually disappeared.Transplantation increased synaptophysin expression(P<0.05 versus control) and motor function(P<0.05).
