| 3 | Precise nanomedicine for intelligent therapy of cancer显示文摘Precise nanomedicine has been extensively explored for efficient cancer imaging and targeted cancer therapy, as evidenced by a few breakthroughs in their preclinical and clinical explorations. Here, we demonstrate the recent advances of intelligent cancer nanomedicine, and discuss the comprehensive understanding of their structure-function relationship for smart and efficient cancer nanomedicine including various imaging and therapeutic applications, as well as nanotoxicity. In particular, a few emerging strategies that have advanced cancer nanomedicine are also highlighted as the emerging focus such as tumor imprisonment, supramolecular chemotherapy, and DNA nanorobot. The challenge and outlook of some scientific and engineering issues are also discussed in future development. | 4 | The impact of the new cooperative medical scheme on financial burden of tuberculosis patients: evidence from six counties in China显示文摘Background:Tuberculosis(TB)patients in China encounter heavy financial burdens throughout the course of their treatment and it is unclear how China’s health insurance systems affect the alleviation of this burden under the integrated approach.This study aimed to measure reimbursement for TB services under the New Cooperative Medical Scheme(NCMS)in rural China and to evaluate changes in catastrophic health expenditure(CHE)caused by the reimbursement policies.Methods:Reimbursement data were obtained from routine data systems for the NCMS in Yichang(YC)and Hanzhong(HZ).1884 TB inpatients reimbursed by NCMS from 2010 to 2012 were included.Household surveys were conducted.A total of 494 TB patients under the NCMS were selected in this paper.12 Focus Group Discussions(FGDs)were held.We measured the impact of the NCMS by counterfactual analysis,which analyzed the financial burden alleviation.Equity was assessed by Concentration Index(CI),and disaggregated by project sites.Results:TB inpatients were reimbursed with an effective reimbursement rate of 57.3%.Average out-of-pocket(OOP)payments for outpatient and inpatient services after diagnosis were 1413 yuan and 430 yuan,and 3572 yuan and 3013 yuan in YC and HZ,respectively.The reimbursement level for TB outpatient care after diagnosis was very low due to a limited outpatient quota.TB patients in HZ incurred higher effective reimbursement rates,but the incidence of CHE remained higher.The reduction of CHE incidence after the NCMS showed no difference statistically(P>0.05).The severity of CHE was alleviated slightly.CIs after reimbursement were all below zero and their absolute values were higher than those before reimbursement.Conclusions:Low reimbursement for TB patients could lead to heavy financial burden.Poor TB patients incurred high rates of CHE.The NCMS was found to be a protective factor for CHE,but the impact was modest and the equity of CHE did not improve.The NCMS reimbursement policies should be improved in the future to include a more comprehensive coverage of care.Supplemental programs may be necessary to expand coverage for TB care. | Li Xiang Yao Pan Shuangyi Hou Hongwei Zhang Kaori DSato Qiang Li Jing Wang Shenglan Tang | 2016 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1: | 9 |
| 5 | Achieving the nitrite pathway using FA inhibition and process control in UASB-SBR system removing nitrogen from landfill leachate显示文摘An up-flow sludge blanket(UASB) and sequencing batch reactor(SBR) system was introduced to remove organics and nitrogen from landfill leachate.The synergetic effect of free ammonia(FA) inhibition and process control was used to achieve the nitrite pathway in the SBR.In previous research,inhibition of FA on nitrite oxidizing bacteria(NOB) activity has been revealed and the process control parameters(DO,ORP and pH) exactly indicate the end-point of nitritation.The method was implemented in the SBR achieving stable nitrogen removal via the nitrite pathway from landfill leachate.The degree of nitrite accumulation during the nitritation was monitored along with the simultaneous and advanced removal of organics and nitrogen in the UASB-SBR system.The nitrifying bacteria community was quantitatively analyzed by fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) techniques.Batch tests were carried out to investigate the denitritation kinetics of microbial bacteria in the SBR.Experimental results showed that the nitrite pathway could be repeatedly and reliably achieved by synergetic effect of FA inhibition and process control.FISH analysis showed the dominant nitrifying bacteria were ammonia-oxidizing β-Proteobacteria. | 6 | Oxygen adsorption/desorption behavior of YBaCo4O7+δ and its application to oxygen removal from nitrogen显示文摘A new medium-temperature (200-400℃) adsorbent material for oxygen removal and air separation, YBaCo4O7+β, was prepared by the solid-state reaction method. This new adsorbent could adsorb a large quantity of oxygen in the temperature range of 200-370 ℃. Ad-sorbed oxygen could be released by raising temperature over 400 ℃ or by switching the atmosphere from oxygen to nitrogen. This oxygen adsorption and desorption process had good reproducibility. Taking advantage of this unique oxygen intake/release behavior, a nitrogen puri-fication process was investigated. | 7 | The three-dimensional structure and seasonal variation of the North Pacific meridional overturning circulation显示文摘The three-dimensional structure and the seasonal variation of the North Pacific meridional overturning circulation (NPMOC) are analyzed based on the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation data and Argo profiling float data.The NPMOC displays a multi-cell structure with four cells in the North Pacific altogether.The TC and the STC are a strong clockwise meridional cell in the low latitude ocean and a weaker clockwise meridional cell between 7°N and 18°N,respectively, while the DTC and the subpolar cell are a weaker anticlockwise meridional cell between 3°N and 15°N and a weakest anticlockwise meridional cell between 35°N and 50°N,respectively. The DTC,the TC and the STC are all of very strong seasonal variations.As to the DTC, the southward transport is strongest in fall and weakest in spring.For the TC,the northward transport is strongest in winter and weakest in spring,while the southward transport is strongest in fall and weakest in spring, which is associated with the strong southward flow of the DTC in fall.As the STC,the northward transport is strongest in winter and weakest in summer,while the southward transport is strongest in summer and weakest in spring. | 8 | Eddy properties in the Pacific sector of the Southern Ocean from satellite altimetry data显示文摘Mesoscale eddies play a key role in the ocean dynamics of the Southern Ocean, and eddy response to the climate changes has also been widely noted. Both eddy kinetic energy(EKE) and eddy detection algorithm are used to study the eddy properties in the Pacific sector of the Southern Ocean. Consistent with previous works,the maps of the EKE illustrate that higher energy confines to the Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone(APFZ) and decreases progressively from west to east. It also shows that the most significant increase in the EKE occurs in the western and central parts of the Pacific sector, where the baroclinicity of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current(ACC) is much stronger. Statistical eddy properties reveal that both of the spatial pattern and interannual variation of the EKE are primarily due to the eddy amplitude and the eddy rotational speed, rather than the eddy number or the eddy radius. | 9 | Follistatin-like protein 1 plays a tumor suppressor role in clear-cell renal cell carcinoma显示文摘Background:We previously showed that the expression of follistatin-like protein 1(FSTL1)was significantly down-regulated in metastatic clear-cell renal cell carcinoma(ccRCC).In this study,we aimed to characterize the role of FSTL1 in the development of ccRCC.Methods:The effects of FSTL1 on cell activity and cell cycle were investigated in ccRCC cell lines with altered FSTL1 expression.Gene expression microarray assays were performed to identify the major signaling pathways affected by FSTL1 knockdown.The expression of FSTL1 in ccRCC and its effect on postoperative prognosis were estimated in a cohort with 89 patients.Results:FSTL1 knockdown promoted anchorage-independent growth,migration,invasion,and cell cycle of ccRCC cell lines,whereas FSTL1 overexpression attenuated cell migration.FSTL1 knockdown up-regulated nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)and hypoxia-inducible factor(HIF)signaling pathways,increased epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition,up-regulated interleukin-6 expression,and promoted tumor necrosis factor-α-induced degradation of NF-κB inhibitor(IκBα)in ccRCC cell lines.FSTL1 immunostaining was selectively positive in epithelial cytoplasm in the loop of Henle,and positive rate of FSTL1 was significantly lower in ccRCC tissues than in adjacent renal tissues(P<0.001).The mul-tivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the intratumoral FSTL1 expression conferred a favorable independent prognosis with a hazard ratio of 0.325(95%confidence interval 0.118-0.894).HIF-2αexpression was negatively cor-related with FSTL1 expression in ccRCC specimens(r=−0.229,P=0.044).Intratumoral expression of HIF-2α,rather than HIF-1α,significantly predicted an unfavorable prognosis in ccRCC(log-rank,P=0.038).Conclusions:FSTL1 plays a tumor suppression role possibly via repressing the NF-κB and HIF-2αsignaling pathways.To increase FSTL1 expression might be a candidate therapeutic strategy for metastatic ccRCC. | Yan Liu Xiaojie Tan Wenbin Liu Xi Chen Xiaomei Hou Dan Shen Yibo Ding Jianhua Yin Ling Wang Hongwei Zhang Yongwei Yu Jianguo Hou Timothy C.Thompson Guangwen Cao | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 5 |

| 14 | Fronts,baroclinic transport,and mesoscale variability of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current in the southeast Indian Ocean显示文摘Fronts,baroclinic transport,and mesoscale variability of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current(ACC) along 115°E are examined on the basis of CTD data from two hydrographic cruises occupied in 1995 as a part of the World Ocean Circulation Experiment(WOCE cruise I9S) and in 2004 as a part of CLIVAR/CO2 repeat hydrography program.The integrated baroclinic transport across I9S section is(97.2×106±2.2×106) m3/s relative to the deepest common level(DCL).The net transport at the north end of I9S,determined by the south Australian circulation system,is about 16.5×106m3/s westward.Relying on a consistent set of water mass criteria and transport maxima,the ACC baroclinic transport,(117×106 ±6.7×10 6)m3/s to the east,is carried along three fronts:the Subantarctic Front(SAF) at a mean latitude of 44°-49°S carries(50.6×10 6 ±13.4×106)m3/s;the Polar Front(PF),with the northern branch(PF-N) at 50.5°S and the southern branch(PFS) at 58°S,carries(51.3×106 ±8.7×106)m3/s;finally,the southern ACC front(SACCF) and the southern boundary of the ACC(SB) consist of three cores between 59°S and 65°S that combined carry(15.2×106 ±1.8×106)m3/s.Mesoscale eddy features are identifiable in the CTD sections and tracked in concurrent maps of altimetric sea level anomalies(SLA) between 44°-48°S and 53°-57°S.Because of the remarkable mesoscale eddy features within the SAF observed in both the tracks of the cruises,the eastward transport of the SAF occurs at two latitude bands separating by 1°.Both the CTD and the altimetric data suggest that the mesoscale variability is concentrated around the Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone(APFZ) and causes the ACC fronts to merge,diverge,and to fluctuate in intensity and position along their paths. | DUAN Yongliang HOU Yijun LIU Hongwei HU Po | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,6: | 2 |

| 18 | The water mass variability and southward shift of the Southern Hemisphere mid-depth supergyre显示文摘The Southern Hemisphere subtropical supergyre at intermediate depths connects all three ocean basins and plays a significant role in responding and conveying the climate-change-related variations in the global ocean.On the basis of the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation(SODA)ocean reanalysis,the thermohaline variability and southward shift of the mid-depth supergyre are demonstrated.The steric height of the subsurface relative to 1 500 m(400–1 500 m)from the SODA depicts exactly the flow patterns and variability of the oceanic supergyre.During 1958–2007 the water masses in the gyre interiors become cooler/fresher,with the significant exceptions of the Agulhas Current system and Agulhas leakage.The results also exhibit a pronounced strengthening of the inter-basin connection of the supergyre,and the strongest southward shift,by about 2.5 over the whole period,occurs in the central-south Pacific,which is associated with the changes in the basin-scale wind forcing. | DUAN Yongliang HOU Yijun LIU Hongwei LIU Yahao | 2013 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,11: | 2 |
| 19 | Structure and magnetism of a porous three-dimensional metal-organic framework based on planar tetranuclear copper(Ⅱ) cluster units显示文摘A porous three-dimensional copper(Ⅱ) metal-organic framework (MOF) {[Cu2(tci)(OH)(pip)0.5(H2O)]·6H2O}n (1) [tci = tris (2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate, pip = piperazine] has been generated under hydrothermal conditions at 120 °C. Single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the polymer exhibits a novel three-dimensional framework based on planar tetranuclear copper(Ⅱ) cluster units. The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility data in the range 2-280 K show antiferromagnetic spin-spin coupling in the tetranuclear unit in complex 1. | 20 | Classification of facial wrinkles among Chinese women显示文摘It is generally recognized that Caucasians and Asians have different skin aging features.The aim of this study was to develop a facial wrinkle grading scale for Chinese women.Standard photographs were taken of 242 Chinese women.Six sets of 0 to 9 wrinkle scales with reference photographs and descriptions were selected,including grading scales for resting and hyperkinetic crow's feet,frontalis lines,glabellar frown lines,and nasolabial folds.To identify the scale by objective quantitative measurement,skin surface measurements from the Visioscan~ VC98 were used.To test the reliability and validity of our wrinkle scale,a multi-rater consensus method was used.A double-blind,randomized,vehicle-controlled 12-week study was conducted to use this clinical photo-score to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Centella triterpenes cream~ in treating crow's feet.A newly developed 10-point photographic and descriptive scale emerged from this study.The final atlas of these photographs contained a total of 6 sets with 10 pictures each.From 0 to 9,surface evaluation of smoothness(SEsm) parametric measurements decreased progressively,indicating that the scale increased inversely.Weighted kappa coefficients for intra-assessor were between 0.75-0.87.The overall Kendall's coefficient is 0.86 on the first rating and 0.87 on the second rating.Thirtysix volunteers were recruited and 35 subjects completed a 12-week trial.Clinical photo-score by investigator showed a significant difference(P < 0.05) between the treatment side and control side after 4 weeks.Use of these scales in clinical settings to evaluate facial wrinkles in Asians individuals is recommended. | Jiechen Zhang Wei Hou Suying Feng Xiangsheng Chen Hongwei Wang | 2017 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2017,31,2: | 2 |
