2Effect of N Fertilizers on Root Growth and Endogenous Hormones in Strawberry显示文摘Endogenous hormones play an important role in the growth and development of roots. The objective of this research was to study the effect of four types of N fertilizers on the root growth of strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duchesne) and the endogenous enzymes of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA), and isopentenyl adenosine (iPA) in its roots and leaves using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Application of all types of N fertilizers significantly depressed (P ≤ 0.05) root growth at 20 d after transplanting. Application of organic-inorganic fertilizer (OIF) as basal fertilizer had a significant negative effect (P ≤ 0.05) on root growth. The application of OIF and urea lowered the lateral root frequency in strawberry plants at 60 d (P ≤ 0.05) compared with the application of two organic fertilizers (OFA and OFB) and the control (CK). With the fertilizer treatments, there were the same concentrations of IAA and ABA in both roots and leaves at the initial growth stage (20 d), lower levels of IAA and ABA at the later stage (60 d), and higher iPA levels at all seedling stages as compared to those of CK. 4Impact of antiviral therapy on post-hepatectomy outcome for hepatitis B-related hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘The outcome after curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)remains unsatisfactory due to the high recurrence rate after surgery.In patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related HCC,which is the majority of patients with HCC in Asia,a high viral load is a strong risk factor for HCC recurrence.It is logical to believe that antiviral therapy may improve the postoperative outcome by promoting viral clearance and hepatocyte regeneration,as well as improving residual liver volume in HCC patients with hepatitis B.However,the effect of antiviral therapy on clinical outcomes after liver resection in patients with HBV-related HCC remains to be established.There are two main groups of antiviral treatment for HBV-oral nucleos(t)ide analogues and interferon.Interferon treatment reduces the overall incidence of HBV-related HCC in sustained re-sponders.However,side effects may limit its long-term clinical application.Nucleos(t)ide analogues carry fewer side effects and are potent in terms of viral suppression when compared to interferon and are typically implemented for patients with more advanced liver diseases.They may also improve the outcome after curative resection for HBV-related HCC.There are increasing evidence to suggest that antiviral therapy could suppress HBV,decrease the perioperative reactivation of viral replication,reduce liver injury,preserve the liver function before and after operation,and may lower the risk of HCC recurrence.After all,antiviral therapy may improve the survival after liver resection by reducing recurrence and delaying the liver damage by the virus,resulting in a higher chance of receiving aggressive salvage therapy during HCC recurrence.Charing Ching Ning Chong Grace Lai Hung Wong Paul Bo San Lai 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,20:15
5Wave-induced pore water pressure in marine cohesive soils显示文摘Cyclic triaxial tests and numerical analyses were undertaken, in order to evaluate the wave-induced pore water pressure in seabedsediments in the Hangzhou Bay. The cyclic triaxial tests indicate that the rate of pore water pressure generation in cohesive soilsdecreases with time, and the development of the pore water pressure can be represented by a hyperbolic curve. Numerical analyses,taking into account the generation and dissipation of pore water pressure simultaneously, suggest that the pore water pressure buildupin cohesive soils may increase with time continuously until the pore water pressure ratio approaches to 1, or it may decrease after acertain time, which is controlled by drain conditions. These phenomena are different from those in sands. 6The electrochemical advanced oxidation processes coupling of oxidants for organic pollutants degradation: A mini-review显示文摘The electrochemical advanced oxidation processes(EAOPs) have been extensively applied in the treatment of organic pollutants degradation.Herein,the mini review provides the coupling systems about EAOPs and different oxidants(e.g.,persulfate(PS),peroxymonosulfate(PMS),and ozone(O3)),including EAOPs-PS systems,EAOPs-PMS systems,EAOPs-peroxone systems,and photoelectro-oxidants systems,for the organic compounds degradation.The coupling system of EAOPs with oxidants is an effective way to improve the generated free radicals(e.g.,HO^·and SO4^·-) concentration and to accelerate pollutant degradation.In this review,we make a summary of the homogeneous and heterogeneous EAOPs-oxidant processes.The reaction mechanisms of EAOPs combined with different oxidants are elucidated in detail,as well as the synergistic effect for improving the degradation and mineralization efficiency.Jun Li Yangju Li Zhaokun Xiong Gang Yao Bo Lai 2019Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12:10
7Decontamination of heavy metal complexes by advanced oxidation processes:A review显示文摘Heavy metal complexes with high mobility are widely distributed in wastewater from modern industries,which are mo re stable and refracto ry than free heavy metal ions.Their re movals from wastewater draw increasing attentions and various technologies have been developed,among which advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)are more effectively and promising.Progresses on five representative types of AOPs,including Fenton(like)oxidation,electrochemical oxidation,photocatalytic oxidation,ozonation and discharge plasma oxidation for heavy metal complexe s degradation are summarized in this review.Their rationales,advantages,applications,challenges and prospects are introduced independently.Combinations among these AOPs,such as electrochemical Fenton oxidation and photoelectrocatalytic oxidation,are also comprehensively highlighted.Future efforts should be made to reduce acid requirement and scale up for practical applications of AOPs for heavy metal complex degradation efficiently and cost-effectively.Junqun Du Baogang Zhang Jiaxin Li Bo Lai 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:10
8Focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 regulates bone homeostasis in mice显示文摘Our recent studies demonstrate that the focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 is critical for chondrogenesis and early skeletal development. Here, we show that deleting Kindlin-2 from osteoblasts using the 2.3-kb mouse Col1 a1-Cre transgene minimally impacts bone mass in mice, but deleting Kindlin-2 using the 10-kb mouse Dmp1-Cre transgene, which targets osteocytes and mature osteoblasts, results in striking osteopenia in mice. Kindlin-2 loss reduces the osteoblastic population but increases the osteoclastic and adipocytic populations in the bone microenvironment. Kindlin-2 loss upregulates sclerostin in osteocytes,downregulates β-catenin in osteoblasts, and inhibits osteoblast formation and differentiation in vitro and in vivo. Upregulation ofβ-catenin in the mutant cells reverses the osteopenia induced by Kindlin-2 deficiency. Kindlin-2 loss additionally increases the expression of RANKL in osteocytes and increases osteoclast formation and bone resorption. Kindlin-2 deletion in osteocytes promotes osteoclast formation in osteocyte/bone marrow monocyte cocultures, which is significantly blocked by an anti-RANKLneutralizing antibody. 9The carbon nanotubes-based materials and their applications for organic pollutant removal: A critical review显示文摘The carbon nanotubes(CNTs) as the emerging materials for organic pollutant removal have gradually become a burgeoning research field.Herein,a mini-review of CNTs-based materials curre ntly studies for organic pollutant elimination is presented.This review summarizes the preparation methods of CNTsbased materials.CNTs-based materials can be used as adsorbents to remove organic pollutants in wastewater.The adsorption mechanisms mainly include surface diffusio n,pore diffusion and adsorption reaction.Most importantly,an in-depth overview of CNTs-based materials currently available in advanced oxidation processes(AOPs) applications for wastewater treatment is proposed.CNTs-based materials can catalyze different oxidants(e.g.,hydrogen peroxide(H2 O2),persulfates(PMS/PDS),ozone(O3) and ferrate/permanganate(Fe(Ⅵ)/Mn(Ⅶ)) to generate more reactive oxygen species(ROS) for organic pollutant elimination.Moreover,the possible reaction mechanisms of removing organic pollutants by CNTs-based materials are summarized systematically and discussed in detail.Finally,application potential and future research directions of CNTs-based materials in the environmental remediation field are proposed.Jiali Peng Yongli He Chenying Zhou Shijun Su Bo Lai 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,5:7
10The Relationship between the “Green-Bean Rock” Layers and Conodont Chiosella timorensis and Implications on Defining the Early–Middle Triassic Boundary in the Nanpanjiang Basin, South China显示文摘The Triassic 'Green-bean Rock'(GBR) layers were widely recognized around the Early–Middle Triassic boundary interval in the Nanpanjiang Basin, South China. To determine the precise relationship between the GBR layers and the first appearance datum(FAD) of the conodont Chiosella timorensis, four Lower–Middle Triassic sections from the Nanpanjiang Basin, including the Gaimao, Bianyang II, Zuodeng and Wantou sections have been studied in detail. Detailed conodont biostratigraphy convinces us that there is no exact temporal relationship between the GBR layers and first occurrence of Ch. timorensis. Moreover, the numbers of the GBR layers are different from the place to place within the Nanpanjiang Basin, and the time span of the GBR layers was much longer than previously estimated. 11Degradation of p-nitrophenol(PNP) in aqueous solution by mFe/Cu-air-PS system显示文摘In this study,batch experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of microscale Fe/Cu bimetallic particles-air-persulfate system(mFe/Cu-air-PS)for p-nitrophenol(PNP)treatment in aqueous solution.First,the optimal operating parameters(i.e.,aeration rate of 1.0 L/min,theoretical Cu mass loading(TMLCu)of 0.110 g Cu/g Fe,mFe/Cu dosage of 15 g/L,PS total dosage of 15 mmol/L,feeding times of PS of 5,initial pH 5.4)were obtained successively by single-factor experiments.Under the optimal conditions,high COD and TOC removal efficiencies(71.0%,65.8%)were obtained after 60 min treatment.Afterword,compared with control experiments(i.e.,mFe/Cu,air,PS,mFe/Cu-air,mFe/Cu–PS,air-PS and mFe-air-PS),mFe/Cu-air-PS system exerted superior performance for pollutants removal due to the synergistic effect between mFe/Cu,air and PS.In addition,the results of control experiments and radical quenching experiments indicate this reinforcement by feeding of PS was greater than by aeration in m Fe/Cu-air-PS system.Furthermore,the degradation intermediates of PNP in mFe/Cu-air-PS process were identified and measured by HPLC.Based on the detected intermediates,the degradation pathways of PNP were proposed comprehensively,which revealed that toxic and refractory PNP in aqueous solution could be decomposed effectively and transformed into lower toxicity intermediates.As a result,m Fe/Cu-air-PS system with the performance of oxidation combined reduction can be also a potential technology for the treatment of toxic and refractory PNP contained wastewater.Heng Zhang Qingqing Ji Leiduo Lai Gang Yao Bo Lai 2019Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5:7
12Effect of inclusions on the formation of acicular ferrite in Ti-bearing non quenched-and-tempered steel显示文摘Nucleation of acicular ferrite and its influence factors in non quenched-and-tempered steel was studied by using TEM and thermodynamic calculation. The results show that the complex particles with a center made of Ti oxide, Al2O3, and silicate and an outside made of a small quantity of mixture of TiN and MnS are able to act as ferrite nucleation nuclei. The acicular ferrite percent- age changes little with Ti. When the oxygen content was 80 ppm, the volume percentage of acicular ferrite decreased due to an in- crease in allotriomorphic ferrite. 14An Image-Based Diagnostic Expert System for Corn Diseases显示文摘The annual worldwide yield losses due to pests are estimated to be billions of dollars.Integrated pest management(IPM) is one of the most important components of crop production in most agricultural areas of the world,and the effectiveness of crop protection depends on accurate and timely diagnosis of phytosanitary problems.Accurately identifying and treatment depends on the method which used in disease and insect pests diagnosis.Identifying plant diseases is usually difficult and requires a plant pathologist or well-trained technician to accurately describe the case.Moreover,quite a few diseases have similar symptoms making it difficult for non-experts to distinguish disease correctly.Another method of diagnosis depends on comparison of the concerned case with similar ones through one image or more of the symptoms and helps enormously in overcoming difficulties of non-experts.The old adage 'a picture is worth a thousand words' is crucially relevant.Considering the user's capability to deal and interact with the expert system easily and clearly,a webbased diagnostic expert-system shell based on production rules(i.e.,IF < effects > THEN < causes >) and frames with a color image database was developed and applied to corn disease diagnosis as a case study.The expert-system shell was made on a 32-bit multimedia desktop microcomputer.The knowledge base had frames,production rules and synonym words as the result of interview and arrangement.It was desired that 80% of total frames used visual color image data to explain the meaning of observations and conclusions.Visual color image displays with the phrases of questions and answers from the expert system,enables users to identify any disease,makes the right decision,and chooses the right treatment.This may increase their level of understanding of corn disease diagnosis.The expert system can be applied to diagnosis of other plant pests or diseases by easy changes to the knowledge base.LAI Jun-chen MING Bo LI Shao-kun WANG Ke-ru XIE Rui-zhi GAO Shi-ju 2010Agricultural Sciences in China2010,9,8:6

16Black phosphorus inverter devices enabled by in-situ aluminum surface modification显示文摘Two-dimensional black phosphorus (BP) generally exhibits a hole-dominated transport characteristic when configured as field-effect transistor devices. The effective control of charge carrier type and concentration is very crucial for the application of BP in complementary electronics. Herein, we report a facile and effective electron doping methodology on BP, through in situ surface modification with aluminum (Al). The electron mobility of few-layer BP is found to be largely enhanced to ~ 10.6 cm^2·V^–1·s^–1 by over 6 times after aluminum modification. In situ photoelectron spectroscopy characterization reveals the formation of Al–P covalent bond at the interface, which can also serve as local gate to tune the transport properties in BP layers. 17Establishment and characterization of a new cell line derived from human colorectal laterally spreading tumor显示文摘AIM:To study the molecular mechanism of laterally spreading tumor (LST), a cell line [Laterally Spreading Tumor-Rectum 1 (LST-R1)] was derived and the characteristics of this cell line were investigated. METHODS:A new cell line (LST-R1) originated from laterally spreading tumor was established. Properties of the cell line were characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry method, cytogenetic analysis and nude mice xenograft experiments. In vitro invasion assay, cDNA microarray and Western blotting were used to compare the difference between the LST-R1 and other colorectal cancer cell lines derived from prudent colon cancer. RESULTS:Our study demonstrated that both epithelial special antigen (ESA) and cytokeratin-20 (CK20) were expressed in LST-R1. The cells presented microvilli and tight junction with large nuclei. The karyotypic analysis showed hyperdiploid features with structural chromosome aberrations. The in vivo tumorigenicity was also demonstrated in nude mice xenograft experiments. The invasion assay suggested this cell line has a higher invasive ability. cDNA microarray and Western blotting show the loss of the expression of E-cadherin in LST-R1 cells.CONCLUSION:We established and characterized a colorectal cancer cell line, LST-R1 and LST-R1 has an obvious malignant tendency, which maybe partially attributed to the changes of the expression of some adhesion molecules, such as E-cadherin. 18Latest Wuchiapingian to Earliest Triassic Conodont Zones and δ13 Ccarb Isotope Excursions from Deep-Water Sections in Western Hubei Province, South China显示文摘Deep-water facies sections have advantages of recording complete information across the Permian-Triassic boundary(PTB). Here we present a detailed study on the conodont biostratigraphy and carbon isotope profile ranges from the Wuchiapingian-Changhsingian boundary(WCB) to the PTB of two deep-water facies sections at Zhuqiao and Shiligou in the Middle Yangtze region, western Hubei, South China. Fifteen species and three genera are identified. Eight conodont zones are recognized which in ascending order are the Clarkina orientalis, C. wangi, C. subcarinata, C. changxingensis, C. yini, C. meishanensis, Hindeodus parvus and Isarcicella isarcica zones. The onset of deposition of the deep-water siliceous strata of Dalong Formation in western Hubei began in the Late Wuchiapingian and persisted to the Late Changhsingian. Carbon isotope negative excursions occur near both the WCB and PTB in both sections. The WCB δ13 Ccarb negative excursion is in the C. orientalis and C. wangi zones. The PTB δ13 Ccarb negative excursion began in the C. yini Zone and extended to the I. isarcica Zone. The absence of several Changhsingian zones may indicate the difficulty of extracting conodonts from siliceous strata or the presence of an intra-Changhsingian hiatus.Bo Yang Hanxiao Li Paul B. 19New insights on the enhanced non-hydroxyl radical contribution under copper promoted TiO_(2)/GO for the photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride显示文摘TiO_(2)/graphene oxide(GO)as photocatalyst in the photo-degradation of multitudinous pollutants has been extensively studied.But its low photocatalytic efficiency is attributed to the high band gap energy which lead to low light utilization.Cu-TiO_(2)/GO was synthesized via the impregnation methods to enhance the catalytic performance.The Cu-TiO_(2)/GO reaction rate constant for photo-degradation of pollutants(tetracycline hydrochloride,TC)was about 1.4 times that of TiO_(2)/GO.In 90 min,the removal ratio of Cu-TiO_(2)/GO for TC was 98%,and the maximum degradation ratio occurred at p H 5.After five cycles,the removal ratio of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO still exceeded 98%.UV-visible adsorption spectra of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO showed that its band gap was narrower than TiO_(2)/GO.Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectra test illustrated the generation rate of·O_(2)^(-)and·OH was higher in Cu-TiO_(2)/GO system than TiO_(2)/GO and TiO_(2) system.The contribution sequence of oxidative species was·O_(2)^(-)>holes(h+)>·OH in both TiO_(2)/GO and Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO system.Interestingly,the contribution of·OH in Cu-TiO_(2)/GO was less than that in TiO_(2)/GO during the photo-degradation process.This phenomenon was attributed to the better adsorption performance of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO which could reduce the accessibility of TC to·OH in liquid.The enhanced non-hydroxyl radical contribution could be attributed to that the more other active species or sites on(nearby)the surface of Cu-TiO_(2)/GO generated after doping Cu.These results provide a new perspective for the tradition metal-doped conventional catalysts to enhance the removal of organic pollutants in the environment.Sijia Qian Shengyan Pu Ying Zhang Peng Wang Yingchen Bai Bo Lai 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2:4
