| 1 | Differentiation of Sheeppox and Goatpox Viruses by Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism显示文摘In the present study,the partial gene sequences of P32 protein,an immunogenic envelope protein of Capripoxviruses (CaPV),were analyzed to assess the genetic relationship among sheeppox and goatpox virus isolates,and restriction enzyme specific PCR-RFLP was developed to differentiate CaPV strains.A total of six goatpox virus (GTPV) and nine sheeppox virus (SPPV) isolates of Indian origin were included in the sequence analysis of the attachment gene.The sequence analysis revealed a high degree of sequence identity among all the Indian SPPV and GTPV isolates at both nucleotide and amino acid levels.Phylogenetic analysis showed three distinct clusters of SPPV,GTPV and Lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV) isolates.Further,multiple sequence alignment revealed a unique change at G120A in all GTPV isolates resulting in the formation of Dra I restriction site in lieu of EcoR I,which is present in SPPV isolates studied.This change was unique and exploited to develop restriction enzyme specific PCR-RFLP for detection and differentiation of SPPV and GTPV strains.The optimized PCR-RFLP was validated using a total of fourteen (n=14) cell culture isolates and twenty two (n=22) known clinical samples of CaPV.The Restriction Enzyme specific PCR-RFLP to differentiate both species will allow a rapid differential diagnosis during CaPV outbreaks particularly in mixed flocks of sheep and goats and could be an adjunct/supportive tool for complete gene or virus genome sequencing methods. | Gnanavel Venkatesan Vinayagamurthy Balamurugan Revaniah Yogisharadhya Amit Kumar Veerakyathappa Bhanuprakash | 2012 | Virologica Sinica2012,27,6: | 10 |

| 4 | A review on assessment and treatment of the trunk in stroke A need or luxury显示文摘Trunk function has been identified as an important early predictor of functional outcome after stroke and the same deteriorates on both contralateral and ipsilateral sides of the body following stroke.The primary contribution of the trunk muscles is to allow the body to remain upright,adjust weight shifts,and control movements against constant pull of gravity and is considered central key point of the body.Proximal stability of the trunk is a pre-requisite for distal limb mobility,balance,gait and functional activities and its positive correlation in hemiplegia has been demonstrated in a cross-sectional study.Both isokinetic and handheld dynamometer muscle strength testing demonstrated the weakness of bilateral trunk flexors,extensors and rotator muscles in both acute and chronic hemiplegic patients.This was confirmed by electromyography analysis which identified poor bilateral trunk muscles activity in patients with stroke.Trunk impairment scale is sensitive to evaluate the selective muscle control of upper and lower trunk,and it has been reported that lateral flexion of the trunk is easier than rotation of the trunk and the clinical observation concurs to the difficulty in lower trunk rotation of stroke patients.However,trunk exercises given early after stroke could produce enhanced balance performance post-stroke.This review attempts to report the evidence supporting the involvement of the trunk and its influence on balance and functional performance in post-stroke hemiplegia. | Suruliraj Karthikbabu Mahabala Chakrapani Sailakshmi Ganeshan Kedambadi C Rakshith Syed Nafeez Venkatesan Prem | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,25: | 5 |

| 6 | Study on Passive Immunity:time of Vaccination in Kids Born to Goats Vaccinated Against Peste des petits ruminants显示文摘In this study,the decay of maternal peste des petits ruminants virus(PPRV) antibodies in kids born to goats vaccinated with Asian lineage IV PPR vaccine and the efficacy of passive immunity against PPRV was assessed to determine the appropriate period for vaccination in kids.Serum samples collected from kids born to vaccinated,unvaccinated and infected goats at different time intervals were tested by PPR competitive ELISA and serum neutralization test(SNT).Maternal antibodies in kids were detectable up to 6 months with a decline trend from the third month onwards and receded below the protective level by the fourth month.The kid with an SN titre of 1:8 at the time of immunization showed significant PPRV specific antibody response(percentage inhibition of 76;SN titers >1:16),when tested on 21 day post-vaccination and was completely protected from infection upon virulent PPRV challenge.Similarly,the kid with 1:8 SN titers was completely protected from PPR infection on active challenge.Therefore,PPR vaccination is recommended in kids,aged 4 months and born to immunized or exposed goats.This could be a suitable period to avoid window of susceptibility in kids to PPRV and the effort to eliminate PPR infection from susceptible populations. | Vinayagamurthy Balamurugan Arnab Sen Gnanavel Venkatesan Kaushal Kishor Rajak Veerakyathappa Bhanuprakash Raj Kumar Singh | 2012 | Virologica Sinica2012,27,4: | 5 |
| 7 | Novel degradation products of argatroban: Isolation, synthesis and extensive characterization using NMR and LC-PDA-MS/Q-TOF显示文摘Forced degradation study of argatroban under conditions of hydrolysis(neutral, acidic and alkaline), oxidation,photolysis and thermal stress, as suggested in the ICH Q1 A(R2), was accomplished. The drug showed significant degradation under hydrolysis(acidic, alkaline) and oxidation(peroxide stress) conditions. The drug remained stable under thermal and photolytic stress conditions. In total, seven novel degradation products(DP-1 to DP-7) were found under diverse conditions, which were not reported earlier. | 8 | Mapping of dwarfing gene Rht14 in durum wheat and its effect on seedling vigor, internode length and plant height显示文摘Short coleoptiles associated with GA-insensitive Rht-1 alleles in wheat reduces yield due to poor seedling establishment under dry, or stubble-retained conditions. Hence there is a need for alternative dwarfing genes for wheat improvement programs. GA-sensitive dwarfing gene Rht14 confers semidwarf stature in wheat while retaining longer coleoptiles and early seedling vigor. Two RIL populations were used to identify the map position of Rht14 and to estimate its effect on plant height, coleoptile length, seedling shoot length,spike length and internode length. Rht14 on chromosome 6 A was mapped in the genomic region 383–422 Mbp flanked by GA2oxA9 and wmc753 in a Bijaga Yellow/Castelporziano RIL population. Recombination events between Rht14 and GA2oxA9 in the RIL population indicated that Rht14 might not be allelic to GA2oxA9. The conserved DNA sequence of GA2oxA9 and its flanking region in Castelporziano also suggested that the point of mutation responsible for the Rht14 allele must be a few Mbp away from GA2oxA9. The dwarfing effects of Rht14 on plant height, internode length and seedling vigor were compared with those of Rht-B1 b in an HI 8498/Castelporziano RIL population. Both genes significantly reduced plant height and internode length. Rht-B1 b conferred a significant reduction in coleoptile length and seedling shoot length, whereas Rht14 reduced plant height, but not coleoptile and seedling shoot length. | 10 | Influence of suspension stability on wet grinding for production of mineral nanoparticles显示文摘Grinding behavior of nanoparticles in an attritor mill and the minimum achievable particle size are strongly influenced by the suspension stability.In the present work,suspension stability(i.e.ζ-potential) of nanoparticles was studied by measuring pH as a function of grinding time in the wet milling process.It was found that after a certain time in an attritor mill,there is no further size reduction and the average product particle size increases monotonically.One of the reasons is that the production of submicron particles leads to more particle-particle interactions and consequently pH of the suspension decreases with grinding time.Usually pH value is related to suspension stability and it can be enhanced by addition of NaOH solution.The maximum negative ζ-potential of -51.2 mV was obtained at pH of 12 for silica.The higher the ζ-potential with the same polarity,higher will be the electrostatic repulsion between the particles.Hence,the maximum electrostatic repulsion force was maintained by the adjustment of pH value in wet milling.The experiments were conducted at different pH conditions which were maintained constant throughout the experiments and nanosized particles were obtained consequently. | S.Sakthivel Venkatesan V.Krishnan B.Pitchumani | 2008 | Particuology2008,6,2: | 4 |
