| 1 | A comparison of the Medieval Warm Period, Little Ice Age and 20th century warming simulated by the FGOALS climate system model显示文摘To compare differences among the Medieval Warm Period (MWP), Little Ice Age (LIA), and 20th century global warming (20CW), six sets of transient and equilibrium simulations were generated using the climate system model FGOALS_gl. This model was developed by the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The results indicate that MWP warming is evident on a global scale, except for at mid-latitudes of the North Pacific. However, the magnitude of the warming is weaker than that in the 20th century. The warming in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere is stronger than that in the Southern Hemisphere. The LIA cooling is also evident on a global scale, with a strong cooling over the high Eurasian continent, while the cooling center is over the Arctic domain. Both the MWP and the 20CW experiments exhibit the strongest warming anomalies in the middle troposphere around 200-300 hPa, but the cooling center of the LIA experiment is seen in the polar surface of the Northern Hemisphere. A comparison of model simulation against the reconstruction indicates that model's performance in simulating the surface air temperature changes during the warm periods is better than that during the cold periods. The consistencies between model and reconstruction in lower latitudes are better than those in high latitudes. Comparison of the inter-annual variability mode of East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) rainfall during the MWP, LIA and 20CW reveals a similar rainfall anomalies pattern. However, the time spectra of the principal component during the three typical periods of the last millennium are different, and the quasi-biannual oscillation is more evident during the two warm periods. At a centennial time scale, the external mode of the EASM variability driven by the changes of effective solar radiation is determined by the changes of large scale land-sea thermal contrast. | 2 | Forced response of atmospheric oscillations during the last millennium simulated by a climate system model显示文摘Variations in global atmospheric oscillations during the last millennium are simulated using the climate system model FGOALS_gl. The model was driven by reconstructions of both natural forcing (solar variability and volcanic aerosol) and anthropogenic forcing (greenhouse gases and sulfate aerosol). The model results are compared against proxy reconstruction data. The reconstructed North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) was out of phase with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) in the last millennium. During the Medieval Warm Period (MWP), the NAO was strong while the PDO was weak. During the Little Ice Age (LIA), the NAO was weak while the PDO was strong. A La Ni a-like state prevailed in the MWP, while an El Ni o-like state dominated in the LIA. This phenomenon is particularly obvious in the 15th, 17th and 19th centuries. Analysis of the model output indicates that the NAO was generally positive during 1000-1400 AD and negative during 1650-1900 AD. There is a discrepancy between the sim- ulation and reconstruction during 1400-1650 AD. The simulated PDO generally varies in parallel with the reconstruction, which has a negative phase during the MWP and a positive phase during the LIA. The correlation coefficient between the reconstruction and simulation is 0.61, and the correlation is statistically significant at the 1% level. Neither the La Ni a-like state of the MWP nor the El Ni o-like state of the LIA is reproduced in the model. Both the reconstructed and the simulated Antarctic Oscillations had a negative phase in the early period of the last millennium and a positive phase in the late period of the last millennium. The Asian-Pacific Oscillation was generally strong during the WMP and weak during the LIA, and the correlation coefficient between the simulation and reconstruction is 0.50 for the period 1000 -1985 AD. | 4 | Regional-scale Surface Air Temperature and East Asian Summer Monsoon Changes during the Last Millennium Simulated by the FGOALS-gl Climate System Model显示文摘The spatial patterns and regional-scale surface air temperature(SAT) changes during the last millennium, as well as the variability of the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) were simulated with a low-resolution version of Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land–Sea-ice(FGOALS-gl) model. The model was driven by both natural and anthropogenic forcing agents. Major features of the simulated past millennial Northern Hemisphere(NH) mean SAT variations, including the Medieval Climate Anomaly(MCA), the Little Ice Age(LIA) and the 20th Century Warming(20CW), were generally consistent with the reconstructions. The simulated MCA showed a global cooling pattern with reference to the 1961–90 mean conditions, indicating the 20CW to be unprecedented over the last millennium in the simulation. The LIA was characterized by pronounced coldness over the continental extratropical NH in both the reconstruction and the simulation. The simulated global mean SAT difference between the MCA and LIA was 0.14°C, with enhanced warming over high-latitude NH continental regions. Consistencies between the simulation and the reconstruction on regional scales were lower than those on hemispheric scales. The major features agreed well between the simulated and reconstructed SAT variations over the Chinese domain, despite some inconsistency in details among different reconstructions. The EASM circulation during the MCA was stronger than that during the LIA The corresponding rainfall anomalies exhibited excessive rainfall in the north but deficient rainfall in the south. Both the zonal and meridional thermal contrast were enhanced during the MCA. | 6 | Effects of combined acupuncture and eugenol on learning-memory ability and antioxidation system of hippocampus in Alzheimer disease rats via olfactory system stimulation显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of combined acupuncture and eugenol on learning-memory ability and the antioxidation system of the hippocampus in Alzheimer disease (AD) rats. METHODS: Sixty Sprague Dawley rats, weighing (300±10) g, were randomly divided with 10 rats per group into a normal control group, AD model group, AD with cut olfactory nerve group, Xiu three-needle group, eugenol group, and combined acupuncture and eugenol group. The AD model was established by injection of amyloid β1-40 (Aβ 1-40). Morris maze tests were conducted for evaluating the learning-memory ability. Content of malo- ndialdehyde (MDA) and activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the hippocampus were detected. RESULTS: The average escape latency and the mean swimming distance in the normal control group, the Xiu three-needle group, the eugenol group, and the combined acupuncture and euge-nol group were significantly shorter than those in the AD model group (all P<0.01). The combined acupuncture and eugenol group had shorter escape latency and mean swimming distance than those in the Xiu three-needle group and the eugenol group. There were no significant differences between the Xiu three-needle group and the eugenol group and between the AD group and the AD with cut olfactory nerve group (P>0.05). Compared with the normal control group, the MDA content in the hippocampus significantly increased (P<0.05) and GSH-Px and SOD activities significantly decreased in the AD model group (P<0.01). Compared with the AD model group, significantly decreased (P< 0.01) and SOD and GSH-Px activities significantly increased in the Xiu three-needle group, eugenol group, and combined acupuncture and eugenol group (P<0.05). Compared with the Xiu three-needle group and eugenol group, the MDA content significantly decreased (P<0.05) and SOD and GSH-Px activities increased (P<0.05) in the combined acupuncture and eugenol group. There were no significant differences among the three indices between the Xiu three-needle group and the eugenol group and between the AD model group and the AD with cut olfactory nerve group (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: Both Xiu three-needle and eugenol can increase learning-memory ability, decrease MDA content, and increase SOD and GSH-Px activities in the hippocampus in AD rats. | 9 | Clopidogrel loading dose versus maintenance dose to treat patients with acute ischaemic stroke in China(CLASS-China):results from a prospective double-blind randomised clinical trial显示文摘Aim The role of clopidogrel in treating patients with acute ischaemic stroke is unclear.We have conducted the clinical trial in order to evaluate the efficacy and safety of clopidogrel with a loading dose in treating patients with non-cardiogenic acute ischaemic stroke.Method Clopidogrel loading dose versus maintenance dose to treat patients with acute ischaemic stroke in China(CLASS-China)was a prospective,randomised,double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trial in China.Patients with acute ischaemic stroke of non-cardiogenic origin within 48 hours of onset were enrolled and those received thrombolysis were excluded.Enrolled patients were divided into two treatment groups:loading dose and routine dose.The primary outcome was the incidence of stroke recurrence or progression within 7 days.Primary safety outcome was measured by life-threatening haemorrhage.An intent-to-treat analysis was used for the statistical analysis.results From March 2008 to March 2010,a total of 303 patients from 16 centres were recruited into this study;six were excluded because of lack of basic information.Since the enrolment was slow and the study drug expired in March 2010,this clinical trial was stopped earlier than planned.No significant baseline and demographic differences were seen between the two groups.There was no difference in primary outcome between the loading dosage group 16.1%(24/149)and control group 14.9%(22/148),respectively(p=0.782).The mortality and disability rate within 90 days in loading dose group(19.6%)was slightly lower than that in controlled group(23.4%),p=0.444.Loading dose group had two(1.3%)cases of fatal haemorrhage and control group had four(2.7%)within 90 days,p=0.674.No significant difference was detected in other adverse events between the groups.conclusion In our study stopped early due to slow enrolment,loading dose of clopidogrel does not reduce the risk of recurrent stroke.Future trials with sufficient number of patients enrolled are needed to re-examine this hypothesis. | Ying Zhao Wanyong Yang Zefeng Tan Wenmin Wang Weimin Xiao Jinsheng Zeng Anding Xu | 2017 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2017,2,3: | 7 |

| 12 | The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. | 14 | Constraints on the late Mesozoic regional angular unconformity in West Liaoning-North Hebei by LA-ICP-MS dating显示文摘The angular unconformity between the Tuchengzi Formation and the Zhangjiakou Formation in the Chengde area is commonly regarded as the direct evidence of boundary between Jurassic and Cretaceous systems,and as the evidence of tectonic transformation interfaces in Mesozoic Era in the West Liaoning-North Hebei.Moreover,the lower boundary age of the Zhangjiakou Formation in the Chengde was to be thought about 135 Myr in the past.Based on the detailed study and systematic sampling in Yixian-Beipiao,Lingy- uan,Chengde and Luanping areas in the field,the authors obtained the following isotopic ages by means of LA-ICP-MS dating:In the Lingyuan area,the Zhangjiakou Formation and the Yixian Formation are in angular unconformable contact;the age range of the Zhangjiakou Formation volcanic rock is from 133 to 130 Myr(seven samples),and that of the Yixian Formation volcanic rock is from 126 to 121 Myr(eleven samples).In the Luotuoshan of Chengde,the Tuchengzi Formation and the Zhangjiakou Formation are in angu- lar unconformable contact;the age at the lower Zhangjiakou Formation is about 124 Myr(one sample),which reflects that the age range of the lower Zhangjiakou Formation is from 129 to 124 Myr combined with the previous study.In the Luanping basin,there is the larg- est sediment gap in upper Mesozoic,whose lower boundary age is confined in 131 to 130 Myr.In the Yixian-Beipiao area,the second Member of the Yixian Formation,making up more than 3/4 thickness of the Yixian Formation,was formed in 126 to 119 Myr,and the age of the Yixian Formation at the bottom is about 132 Myr.Moreover,the upper boundary age of the Tuchengzi Formation is about 136 Myr in the West Liaoning-North Hebei region.Based on the above isotopic data combined with the geological characteristics in the field in the West Liaoning-North Hebei region,it reflects that there was a widespread tectonic event in the period of 136 to 126 Myr (mainly in 130-126 Myr)in the West Liaoning-North Hebei,and it formed the late Mesozoic regional angular unconformity.Moreover, the lower boundary ages of the late Mesozoic regional angular unconformity in different areas are different,and the tectonics and the creature assemblage are different in the strata at the top and bottom of the regional angular unconformity.It implies that the late Meso- zoic regional angular unconformity is a regional interface of tectonic transformation in Mesozoic Era in the West Liaoning-North Hebei. | Hong Zhang Wenmin Guo Xiaoming Liu | 2008 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2008,18,11: | 5 |
| 15 | Applications and research trends of digital human models in the manufacturing industry显示文摘Virtual reality(VR)has been widely used in various manufacturing industries,and VR-based virtual manufacturing has received significant attention in the current intelligent manufacturing era.Digital human models(DHMs)are essential for virtual manufacturing applications.Additionally,researching new applications of DHMs has developed into an important academic research field.This paper aims to identify the applications and research trends of DHMs in the manufacturing industry and to provide a reference for the continued development of virtual manufacturing and DHMs.We selected a total of 49 related articles from a large number of articles published between 2014 and 2019.The applications of DHMs in the manufacturing industry are analyzed from different perspectives and various relevant technical limitations are discussed.The results indicate that the applications of DHMs differ significantly between different types of fields.The automotive industry is the main application field for DHMs,and assembly/maintenance simulations and evaluations are the main application types.Additionally,there are still some limitations in the establishment of virtual environments,motion control,and DHM evaluation that should be addressed.Finally,research trends in the application of DHMs are illustrated and discussed,including the planning and assessment of human-robot collaboration systems,the combination of DHMs and augmented reality,and improved motion planning for DHMs.In summary,the application of DHMs can improve the realism and effectiveness of virtual manufacturing,and DHMs will be more widely and deeply studied and applied in various manufacturing industries in the near future. | Wenmin ZHU Xiumin FAN Yanxin ZHANG | 2019 | Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2019,1,6: | 5 |
| 16 | A strongly secure pairing-free certificateless authenticated key agreement protocol under the CDH assumption显示文摘Certificateless authenticated key agreement(CL-AKA) protocols have been studied a great deal since they neither suffer from a heavy certificate management burden nor have the key escrow problem. Recently, many efficient CL-AKA protocols without pairings have been built. However, these pairing-free CL-AKA protocols are either not proved in any formal security model or proved under the gap Diffie-Hellman(GDH)assumption, a non-standard and strong assumption. With available implementation technologies, pairings are needed to realize the GDH assumption, which means that these pairing-free CL-AKA protocols are not pure pairing-free. | 17 | Active flutter suppression of a multiple-actuated-wing wind tunnel model显示文摘In this study, a multi-input/multi-output(MIMO) time-delay feedback controller is designed to actively suppress the flutter instability of a multiple-actuated-wing(MAW) wind tunnel model in the low subsonic flow regime. The unsteady aerodynamic forces of the MAW model are computed based on the doublet-lattice method(DLM). As the first attempt, the conventional linear quadratic-Gaussian(LQG) controller is designed to actively suppress the flutter of the MAW model. However, because of the time delay in the control loop, the wind tunnel tests illustrate that the LQG-controlled MAW model has no guaranteed stability margins. To compensate the time delay, hence, a time-delay filter, approximated via the first-order Pade approximation, is added to the LQG controller. Based on the time-delay feedback controller, a new digital control system is constructed by using a fixed-point and embedded digital signal processor(DSP) of high performance. | 19 | Molecular breeding of water lily: engineering cold stress tolerance into tropical water lily显示文摘Water lilies(order Nymphaeales)are rich in both economic and cultural values.They grow into aquatic herbs,and are divided into two ecological types:tropical and hardy.Although tropical water lilies have more ornamental and medicinal values compared to the hardy water lily,the study and utilization of tropical water lilies in both landscaping and pharmaceutical use is greatly hindered due to their limited planting area.Tropical water lilies cannot survive the winter in areas beyond 24.3°N latitude.Here,the transgenic pipeline through the pollen-tube pathway was generated for water lily for the first time.To improve cold stress tolerance of tropical water lilies,a gene encoding choline oxidase(CodA)driven by a cold stress-inducible promoter was transformed into a tropical water lily through the pollen-tube transformation.Six independent transgenic lines were tested for survival rate during two winter seasons from 2015 to 2017 in Hangzhou(30.3°N latitude).PCR and southern blot detection revealed that the CodA gene had been integrated into the genome.Reverse transcription PCR showed that CodA gene was induced after cold stress treatment,and further quantitative real-time PCR revealed different expressions among six 4 lines and line 3 had the highest expression.Multiple physiological experiments showed that after cold stress treatment,both the conductivity and malondialdehyde(MDA)levels from transgenic plants were significantly lower than those of non-transgenic plants,whereas the content of betaine and the activity of superoxide dismutase,catalase,and peroxidase were higher than those from non-transgenic plants.These results suggest that expression of exogenous CodA gene significantly improved the cold stress tolerance of tropical water lilies through a wide range of physiological alterations.Our results currently expanded a six-latitude cultivating area of the tropical water lilies.These results not only illuminate the bright future for water lily breeding but will also facilitate the functional genomic studies. | Cuiwei Yu Guirong Qiao Wenmin Qiu Dongbei Yu Shirong Zhou Yan Shen Guanchun Yu Jing Jiang Xiaojiao Han Mingying Liu Liangsheng Zhang Fei Chen Yuchu Chen Renying Zhuo | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 4 |
