A Bar Code and Radio-Frequency Identification System for Transfusion Safety

The purpose of the study was to evaluate whether multi-write RF chips could be attached to blood bags, programmed, and used to facilitate the collection of information from (1) a blood bag manufacturer to (2) a blood collection center and, subsequently, to (3) a hospital transfusion service.
