Spark-generated bubble collapse near or inside a circular aperture and the ensuing vortex ring and droplet formation显示文摘This paper aims to study the oscillation of a sparkgenerated submerged bubble located near or inside a circular aperture made in a flat plate using high-speed visualization technique. In the case of a bubble oscillating near an aperture the initial free surface of the water was set at the bottom surface of the plate. The efects of aperture size and bubblefree surface distance on the bubble behavior as well as on the ensuing droplet dynamics are investigated. It was found that the direction of the bubble reentrant jet was towards the aperture or away from it respectively when the normalized aperture size was smaller or greater than a certain critical value. In addition, a toroidal vortex ring was observed to form, which rotated inwards as it moved away from the aperture. It was also found that if the bubble was incepted at a distance sufciently away from a supercritical size aperture a single droplet could be produced. In the case of a bubble initiated in the middle of a circular aperture submerged just beneath the water free surface, the bubble was found to take the shape of an ellipsoid during its expansion. Then a reentrant jet was initiated and pierced the bubble from its top side. | Abdolrahman Dadvand Mazyar Dawoodian Boo Cheong Khoo Reza Esmaily | 2013 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2013,29,5: | 6
A validated HPLC method for the determination of donepezil in human plasma after derivatization with 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate显示文摘A new HPLC method has been developed for determining donepezil in human plasma. To find the optimum conditions, a derivatization reaction was performed in different media, and the reaction product was identified by NMR and GC-MS after a semi-preparative HPLC separation. Under optimized conditions, donepezil was derivatized by 9-fluorenylmethyl chloroformate in chloroform and carbonate buffer at pH 9.5 in the presence of NaI after solid-phase extraction from a plasma sample. The reaction product was quantified on a reversed-phase TRACER EXCEL ODS-A, 5 μm column using a mixture of acetonitrile–10 mM acetate buffer(pH 6.0)–THF(60:35:5, v/v/v) as the mobile phase with fluorescence detection at 264 nm(ex) and 313 nm(em). Fluoxetine was used as the internal standard. The total run-time of the analysis was about 10 min, and a clean chromatogram was obtained. The developed method was linear over the range of 1–100 ng/mL in 500 μL of plasma samples(r2>0.998). The intra-day and inter-day precision values were in the range of 2.6%–11.6%. The limit of quantification was 1 ng/mL. | Reza Ahmadkhaniha Abdolrahman Nazari Mohsen Amini Effat Souri | 2014 | Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,23,2: | 2

Three-dimensional oscillation of an acoustic microbubble between two rigid curved plates显示文摘Understanding the near boundary acoustic oscillation of microbubbles is critical for the effective design of ultrasonic biomedical devices and surface cleaning technologies.Accordingly, this study investigates the three-dimensional microbubble oscillation between two curved rigid plates experiencing a planar acoustic field using boundary integral method(BIM).The numerical model is validated via comparison with the nonlinear oscillation of the bubble governed by the modified Rayleigh-Plesset equation and with the axisymmetric model for an acoustic microbubble in infinite fluid domain. Then, the influence of the wave direction and horizontal standoff distance(h)on the bubble dynamics(including jet velocity, jet direction, centroid movement, total energy, and Kelvin impulse)were evaluated. It was concluded that the jet velocity, the maximum radius and the total energy of the bubble are not significantly influenced by the wave direction, while the jet direction and the high-pressure region depend strongly on it.More importantly,it was found that the jet velocity and the high-pressure region around the jet in acoustic bubble are drastically larger than their counterparts in the gas bubble. | Kawa M.A.Manmi Imad A.Aziz Arun Arjunan Rostam K.Saeed Abdolrahman Dadvand | 2021 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2021,33,5: | 1

Numerical study of the melting of nano-enhanced phase change material in a square cavity显示文摘A comprehensive numerical study was conducted to investigate heat transfer enhancement during the melting process in a 2D square cavity through dispersion of nanoparticles.A paraffin-based nanofluid containing various volume fractions of Cu was applied. The governing equations were solved on a non-uniform mesh using a pressure-based finite volume method with an enthalpy porosity technique to trace the solid-liquid interface. The effects of nanoparticle dispersion in a pure fluid and of some significant parameters, namely nanoparticle volume fraction, cavity size and hot wall temperature,on the fluid flow, heat transfer features and melting time were studied. The results are presented in terms of temperature and velocity profiles, streamlines, isotherms, moving interface position, solid fraction and dimensionless heat flux. The suspended nanoparticles caused an increase in thermal conductivity of nano-enhanced phase change material(NEPCM)compared to conventional PCM,resulting in heat transfer enhancement and a higher melting rate.In addition, the nanofluid heat transfer rate increased and the melting time decreased as the volume fraction of nanoparticles increased. The higher temperature difference between the melting temperature and the hot wall temperature expedited the melting process of NEPCM. | Seyed Sahand SEBTI Mohammad MASTIANI Hooshyar MIRZAEI Abdolrahman DADVAND Sina KASHANI Seyed Amir HOSSEINI | 2013 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2013,14,5: | 1
HLA-G and single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)associations with cancer in African populations:Implications in personal medicine显示文摘The immune system plays an important role in protecting the body against malignancy.During cancer immunoediting, the immune system can recognize and keep checking the tumor cells by down-expression of some self-molecules or by increasing expression of some novel molecules. However, the microenvironment created in the course of cancer development hampers the immune ability to recognize and destroy the transforming cells.Human Leukocyte Antigen G(HLA-G)is emerging as immune checkpoint molecule produced more by cancer cells to weaken the immune response against them.HLA-G is a non-classical HLA class I molecule which is normally expressed in immune privileged tissues as a soluble or membrane-bound protein.HLA-G locus is highly polymorphic in the non-coding 3′untranslated region(UTR)and in the 5′upstream regulatory region(5′URR).HLA-G expression is controlled by polymorphisms located in these regions, and several association studies between these polymorphic sites and disease predisposition, response to therapy,and/or HLA-G protein expression have been reported.Various polymorphisms are demonstrated to modulate its expression and this is increasingly finding more significance in cancer biology. This review focuses on the relevance of the HLA-G gene and its polymorphisms in cancer development. We highlight population genetics of HLA-G as evidence to espouse the need and importance of exploring potential utility of HLA-G in cancer diagnosis, prognosis and immunotherapy in the currently understudied African population. | Ismael Chatita Adolf Amany Almars Nazima Dharsee Teddy Mselle Gokce Akan Irene Jeremiah Nguma Abdolrahman S.Nateri Fatmahan Atalar | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,5: | 0
EXISTENCE TO FRACTIONAL CRITICAL EQUATION WITH HARDY-LITTLEWOOD-SOBOLEV NONLINEARITIES显示文摘In this paper,we consider the following new Kirchhoff-type equations involving the fractional p-Laplacian and Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev critical nonlinearity:(A+B∫∫_(R^(2N))|u(x)-u(y)|^(p)/|x-y|^(N+ps)dxdy)^(p-1)(-△)_(p)^(s)u+λV(x)|u|^(p-2)u=(∫_(R^(N))|U|^(P_(μ,S)^(*))/|x-y|^(μ)dy)|u|^(P_(μ,S)^(*))^(-2)u,x∈R^(N),where(-△)_(p)^(s)is the fractional p-Laplacian with 0ps,a,b>0,λ>0 is a parameter,V:R^(N)→R^(+)is a potential function,θ∈[1,2_(μ,s)^(*))and P_(μ,S)^(*)=pN-pμ/2/N-ps is the critical exponent in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. We get the existence of infinitely many solutions for the above problem by using the concentration compactness principle and Krasnoselskii’s genus theory. To the best of our knowledge, our result is new even in Choquard-Kirchhoff-type equations involving the p-Laplacian case. | Nemat NYAMORADI Abdolrahman RAZANI | 2021 | Acta Mathematica Scientia2021,41,4: | 0
