11Rational design of Pd-TiO_(2)/g-C_(3)N_(4) heterojunction with enhanced photocatalytic activity through interfacial charge transfer显示文摘A hybrid heterojunction-based photocatalyst is synthesized by an electrostatic self-assembly strategy including surface modification and controlled metal deposition.The interfacial contact was made by mixing negatively charged anatase TiO_(2) nanoparticles with positively charged g-C3N4.Visible-light deposition of Pd nanoparticles largely on TiO_(2) was made possible due to the charge transfer from C_(3)N_(4)(excited by visible light)to the conduction band of TiO_(2) reducing Pd ions on contact with its surface.In order to further test the efficiency of this cascade of electron transfer across the conduction bands of the two semiconductors,photocatalytic H2 production from water was studied.Upon optimizing the ratio of the two semiconductors,increased H2 production rates were observed and attributed to enhanced charge separation.Catalysts were studied by a variety of techniques in order to probe into their properties and link them to activity.The reaction rate,under visible-light excitation,of the best sample showed an 8-fold enhancement when compared to that of Pd-C_(3)N_(4) in identical conditions and the highest apparent quantum yield of 31%was achieved by a 0.1% Pd/20%TiO_(2)/C_(3)N_(4) sample in a 420-to 443-nm range.Tayirjan Taylor Isimjan Shahid Rasul Maher Nasser Aloufi Mohd Adnan Khan Ibrahim Khalid Alhowaish Toseef Ahmed 2019Clean Energy2019,3,1:1
12A Neuro-Fuzzy Approach to Road Traffic Congestion Prediction显示文摘The fast-paced growth of artificial intelligence applications provides unparalleled opportunities to improve the efficiency of various systems.Such as the transportation sector faces many obstacles following the implementation and integration of different vehicular and environmental aspects worldwide.Traffic congestion is among the major issues in this regard which demands serious attention due to the rapid growth in the number of vehicles on the road.To address this overwhelming problem,in this article,a cloudbased intelligent road traffic congestion prediction model is proposed that is empowered with a hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy approach.The aim of the study is to reduce the delay in the queues,the vehicles experience at different road junctions across the city.The proposed model also intended to help the automated traffic control systems by minimizing the congestion particularly in a smart city environment where observational data is obtained from various implanted Internet of Things(IoT)sensors across the road.After due preprocessing over the cloud server,the proposed approach makes use of this data by incorporating the neuro-fuzzy engine.Consequently,it possesses a high level of accuracy by means of intelligent decision making with minimum error rate.Simulation results reveal the accuracy of the proposed model as 98.72%during the validation phase in contrast to the highest accuracies achieved by state-of-the-art techniques in the literature such as 90.6%,95.84%,97.56%and 98.03%,respectively.As far as the training phase analysis is concerned,the proposed scheme exhibits 99.214% accuracy. 15Profile and geographical distribution of reported cutaneous leishmaniasis cases in Northwestern Saudi Arabia,from 2010 to 2013显示文摘Objective:To describe the profile and geographical distribution of reported cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL)in the province of Hail,Saudi Arabia from 2010 to 2013.Methods:Human data were collected from the dermatology service of both King Khaled and General Hail hospitals.Results:A total of 483 confirmed CL cases were investigated.Cutaneous leishmaniasis follows a seasonal distribution related to the activity of the phlebotomine sand fly fauna.Both saudi and non saudi patients were almost equally infected.The number of reported cases of CL in men was higher than that in females.The frequency of CL was asoociated with age and increased in teenager and adult group.By analyzing the geographical distribution,the majority of Hail districts were affected with this disease.However it is more prevalent in Hail city.Conclusions:The lack of data concerning the parasite,the sand fly fauna and the existing transmission cycles in Hail province make difficult to interpret the reported results and to follow up the spatio-temporal evolution of the disease.Najoua Haouas Omar Amer Asma Ishankyty Adnan Alazmi Ibrahim Ishankyty 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,4:0

17Convection Heat Transfer from Heated Thin Cylinders Inside a Ventilated Enclosure显示文摘Experimental study was conducted to determine the effect of velocity of axial fan,outlet vent height,position,area,and aspect ratio(h/w)of ventilated enclosure on convection heat transfer.Rectangular wooden ventilated enclosure having top and front transparent wall was made up of Perspex for visualization,and internal physical dimensions of box were 200 mm×200 mm×400 mm.Inlet vent was at bottom while outlet vents were at the side and top wall.Electrically heated cylindrical heat source having 6.1 slenderness ratio was fabricated and hanged at the centre of the enclosure.To calculate heat transfer rates,thermocouples were attached to the inner surface of heat source with silica gel.Heat source was operated at constant heat flux in order to quantify the effect of velocity of air on heat transfer.It was observed that average Nusselt number was increased from 68 to 216 by changing velocity from 0 to 3.34 m/s at constant modified Grashof number i.e.5.67E+09.While variation in outlet height at the front wall did not affect heat transfer in forced convection region.However,Nusselt number decreased to 5%by changing the outlet position from top to the front wall or by 50%reduction in outlet area during forced convection.Mean rise in temperature of enclosure increased from 8.19 K to 9.40 K by increasing aspect ratio of enclosure from 1.5 to 2 by operating heat source at constant heat flux i.e.541.20 w/m^(2).Ali Riaz Adnan Ibrahim Muhammad Sohail Bashir Muhammad Abdullah Ajmal Shah Abdul Quddus 2022Semiconductor Science and Information Devices2022,4,2:0
18Experimentation on Optimal Configuration and Size of Thin Cylinders in Natural Convection显示文摘In this paper,an experimental study of laminar,steady state natural convection heat transfer from heated thin cylinders in an infinite air medium has been reported.Two electrically heated cylinders having the same slenderness ratio(L/D)i.e.6.1 but different diameters i.e.3.8 cm and 5.08 cm were used.105 experiments were carried out to study the effect of diameter and inclination angle of thin cylinder on natural convection heat transfer.After mandatory corrections of radiation and endcap heat losses,convective heat transfer results were presented in the form of local and average dimensionless numbers.For vertical configuration of thin cylinder,Nusselt number was varied from 52.99 to 95.10 corresponding to 1.28×10^(8)≤Ra*L≤1.08×10^(10).While for horizontal configuration,Nusselt number was varied from 10.74 to 17.78 corresponding to 9.42×10^(4)≤Ra*D≤8.17×10^(6).Results were compared with the published data and found satisfactory as the maximum percentage difference was only 3.09%.The essence of research is that the heat transfer coefficient increases with decrease in diameter and increase in inclination angle.Smoke flow visualization was done to capture patterns of fluid flow.Finally,comparison was made to quantify increase in Nusselt number from slender cylinder as compared to the flat plate.Ali Riaz Adnan Ibrahim Muhammad Sohail Bashir Masroor Asghar Muhammad Abdullah Ajmal Shah 2022Semiconductor Science and Information Devices2022,4,2:0
19Characterization of Endophytic Microorganisms of Rice(Oryza sativa L.)Potentials for Blast Disease Biocontrol and Plant Growth Promoting Agents显示文摘One hundred twenty-five endophytic microorganisms were isolated from the roots,stems,and leaves of four prominent rice cultivars growing in temperate regions.Their potential to combat rice blast disease and promote plant growth was investigated.The dual culture tests highlighted the strong antagonistic activity of five fungal(ranging from 89%–70%)and five bacterial(72%–61%)endophytes.Subsequent examination focused on volatile compounds produced by selected isolates to counter the blast pathogen.Among these,the highest chitinase(13.76μg mL−1)and siderophore(56.64%),was exhibited by Aspergillus flavus,and the highest HCN production was shown by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia(36.15μM mL−1).In terms of growth promotion traits,Aspergillus flavus and Enterobacter cloacae excelled in activities viz,phosphorous solubilization,ammonia production,auxin and gibberellic acid production,and nitrogen fixation.The Identity of these endophytes was confirmed through molecular analysis as Trichoderma afroharzianum,Trichoderma harzianum,Penicillium rubens,Aspergillus flavus,Stenotrophomonas rhizophila,Stenotrophomonas maltophilia,Bacillus cereus,Enterobacter cloacae,and Bacillus licheniformis.Under greenhouse conditions,the highest disease control was shown by isolate Bacillus licheniformis and A.flavus with an inhibition of 79%,followed by S.rhizophila(77%)and T.afroharzianum(73%).The overall results of this study showed that Bacillus licheniformis and Stenotrophomonas rhizophila have great potential to be used as bio-stimulant and biocontrol agents to manage rice blast disease.Shugufta Parveen Fayaz A.Mohiddin M.Ashraf Bhat Zahoor Ahmed Baba Fehim Jeelani M.Anwar Bhat Sajad Un Nabi Burhan Hamid Saba Bandey Farhanaz Rasool Zakir Amin Ibrahim Al-Ashkar Muhammad Adnan Ayman El Sabagh 2023Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,11:0
20Options and Opportunities for Energy Management in Malaysian Grid Systems-Putrajaya as a Case Study显示文摘This paper presents an opportunity for energy management with an integrated photovoltaic and wind farm for the energy and economic aspects of the commercial area located in Putrajaya. The energy economy accession conforming to the wind speed, temperature, solar irradiation, and energy consumption on a daily basis is taken into consideration. Design analysis is done through the industry standard numerical tool. From the result analysis, the recommended ratio of renewable share minimizing stress to the electric grid is proposed. According to the solutions obtained from the numerical design tool, photovoltaic is recommended to be more energy efficient and economically viable in comparison of the fully crowded wind farm.
