| 3 | Hepatobiliary manifestations following two-stages elective laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy for patients with ulcerative colitis:A prospective observational study显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatobiliary manifestations occur in ulcerative colitis(UC)patients.The effect of laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy(LRP)with ileal pouch anal anastomosis(IPAA)on hepatobiliary manifestations is debated.AIM To evaluate hepatobiliary changes after two-stages elective laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy for patients with UC.METHODS Between June 2013 and June 2018,167 patients with hepatobiliary symptoms underwent two-stage elective LRP for UC in a prospective observational study.Patients with UC and having at least one hepatobiliary manifestation who underwent LRP with IPAA were included in the study.The patients were followed up for four years to assess the outcomes of hepatobiliary manifestations.RESULTS The patients'mean age was 36±8 years,and males predominated(67.1%).The most common hepatobiliary diagnostic method was liver biopsy(85.6%),followed by Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(63.5%),Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies(62.5%),abdominal ultrasonography(35.9%),and Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(6%).The most common hepatobiliary symptom was Primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC)(62.3%),followed by fatty liver(16.8%)and gallbladder stone(10.2%).66.4%of patients showed a stable course after surgery.Progressive or regressive courses occurred in 16.8%of each.Mortality was 6%,and recurrence or progression of symptoms required surgery for 15%.Most PSC patients(87.5%)had a stable course,and only 12.5%became worse.Two-thirds(64.3%)of fatty liver patients showed a regressive course,while one-third(35.7%)showed a stable course.Survival rates were 98.8%,97%,95.8%,and 94%at 12 mo,24 mo,36 mo,and at the end of the follow-up.CONCLUSION In patients with UC who had LRP,there is a positive impact on hepatobiliary disease.It caused an improvement in PSC and fatty liver disease.The most prevalent unchanged course was PSC,while the most common improvement was fatty liver disease. | Tamer A A M Habeeb Abdulzahra Hussain Mauro Podda Pasquale Cianci Bruce Ramshaw Khaled Safwat Wesam M Amr Tamer Wasefy Alaa A Fiad Mohamed Ibrahim Mansour Adel Mahmoud Moursi GamalOsman Anass Qasem Mohamed Fawzy Mohamed Ibrahim Abo Alsaad Abd-Elfattah Kalmoush MohammedShaaban Nassar Fawzy M Mustafa Mahmoud Hassib Morsi Badawy Ahmed Hamdy Hamdi Elbelkasi Bassam Mousa Abd-Elrahman M Metwalli Walid A Mawla Mostafa M Elaidy Muhammad Ali Baghdadi Ahmed Raafat | 2023 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2023，15，2： | 0 |
| 4 | The Screening of Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension Risks Associated with Hepatitis C Within the Egyptian Population in a Community Pharmacy Setting显示文摘Background:Diabetes and hypertension have been identified as risk factors for HCV complications in previous studies.This has sparked the interest in the field of prevention by identifying at-risk individuals and increasing investments for screening among pharmacists.The aim of this study was to screen for risk factors,including age,gender,BMI,hypertension,diabetes,and obesity,in Egyptian patients with HCV Methods:A prospective cross-sectional study was carried out from September 2018 to February 2019,with a total of 1,959 medical records collected.By comparing the patients'characteristics,variables related to metabolic risk,and body composition measurements,regression models have been established to determine any confounding factors.Results:The prevalence of HCV antibody was 41.0%in men and 59.0%in women.Among the variables included in the regression analysis,age,BMI,and uncontrolled hypertension were found to have statistically significant associations with diabetes in HCV positive cases(p<0.001).HCV patients>40 years old with high BMI were found to have significant associations with both,diabetes and hypertension(p<0.001).Hypertensive HCV patients were found to have significant associations with gender,age>40,and DM(p<0.001).Conclusion:HCV infection and metabolic disorders have a closed cycle relationship.Reducing the complications of DM has a promising prospective of limiting the complications of HCV . | Amira B Kassem Mohamed EA Abdelrahim Alaa Mousa Amira Harun Heba Al-husseini Salma Khaled Mahmoud Elhadidy Osama Mohamed Ibrahim | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Nursing Research2022，6，3： | 0 |
| 5 | Manifestations of COVID-19 infection in children with malignancy:A single-center experience in Jordan显示文摘BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been the cause of a global health crisis since the end of 2019.All countries are following the guidelines and recommendations released by the World Health Organization to decrease the spread of the disease.Children account for only 3%-5%of COVID-19 cases.Few data are available regarding the clinical course,disease severity,and mode of treatment in children with malignancy and COVID-19.AIM To evaluate the treatment plan and outcome of children with malignancy who contracted COVID-19.METHODS A retrospective study of the medical files of patients with malignancy who contracted COVID-19 between July 2020 and June 2021 was performed.The following data were reviewed for all patients:primary disease,laboratory data,admission ward,clinical status upon admission,disease course,treatment plan,and outcome.Eligible patients were those with malignancy who tested positive for COVID-19 by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS A total of 40 patients who had malignancy contracted COVID-19 from July 1,2020 to June 1,2021.Their primary diseases were as follows:34 patients(85%)had hematological malignancies(30 had acute lymphoblastic leukemia,2 had acute myeloblastic leukemia,and 2 had Hodgkin lymphoma),whereas 6 patients(15%)had solid tumors(2 had neuroblastoma,2 had rhabdomyosarcoma,and 2 had central nervous system tumors).Twelve patients(30%)did not need hospitalization and underwent home isolation only,whereas twenty-eight patients(70%)required hospitalization(26 patients were admitted in the COVID-19 ward and 2 were admitted in the pediatric intensive care unit).CONCLUSION COVID-19 with malignancy in the pediatric age group has a benign course and does not increase the risk of having severe infection compared to other children. | Mousa Ahmad Qatawneh Moath Altarawneh Ruba Alhazaimeh Mais Jazazi Omaiema Jarrah Alaa Shorman Laila Alsadah Maher Mustafa | 2022 | World Journal of Virology2022，11，5： | 0 |
