| 2 | Kinetic study of phytotoxicity induced by foliar lead uptake for vegetables exposed to fine particles and implications for sustainable urban agriculture显示文摘At the global scale, foliar metal transfer occurs for consumed vegetables cultivated in numerous urban or industrial areas with a polluted atmosphere. However, the kinetics of metal uptake, translocation and involved phytotoxicity was never jointly studied with vegetables exposed to micronic and sub-micronic particles(PM). Different leafy vegetables(lettuces and cabbages) cultivated in RHIZOtest? devices were, therefore, exposed in a greenhouse for 5, 10 and 15 days to various Pb O PM doses. The kinetics of transfer and phytotoxicity was assessed in relation to lead concentration and exposure duration. A significant Pb accumulation in leaves(up to 7392 mg/kg dry weight(DW) in lettuce) with translocation to roots was observed. Lead foliar exposure resulted in significant phytotoxicity, lipid composition change, a decrease of plant shoot growth(up to 68.2% in lettuce) and net photosynthesis(up to 58% in lettuce). The phytotoxicity results indicated plant adaptation to Pb and a higher sensitivity of lettuce in comparison with cabbage. | 4 | New challenges in perioperative management of pancreatic cancer显示文摘Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death in the industrialized world.Despite progress in the understanding of the molecular and genetic basis of this disease,the5-year survival rate has remained low and usually does not exceed 5%.Only 20%-25%of patients present with potentially resectable disease and surgery represents the only chance for a cure.After decades of gemcitabine hegemony and limited therapeutic options,more active chemotherapies are emerging in advanced PDAC,like 5-Fluorouracil,folinic acid,irinotecan and oxaliplatin and nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine,that have profoundly impacted therapeutic possibilities.PDAC is considered a systemic disease because of the high rate of relapse after curative surgery in patients with resectable disease at diagnosis.Neoadjuvant strategies in resectable,borderline resectable,or locally advanced pancreatic cancer may improve outcomes.Incorporation of tissue biomarker testing and imaging techniques into preoperative strategies should allow clinicians to identify patients who may ultimately achieve curative benefit from surgery.This review summarizes current knowledge of adjuvant and neoadjuvant treatment for PDAC and discusses the rationale for moving from adjuvant to preoperative and perioperative therapeutic strategies in the current era of more active chemotherapies and personalized medicine.We also discuss the integration of good specimen collection,tissue biomarkers,and imaging tools into newly designed preoperative and perioperative strategies. | Francesco Puleo Raphaёl Maréchal Pieter Demetter Maria-Antonietta Bali Annabelle Calomme Jean Closset Jean-Baptiste Bachet Jacques Deviere Jean-Luc Van Laethem | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,8: | 4 |

| 8 | Extra-skeletal manifestations in mice affected by Clcn7-dependent autosomal dominant osteopetrosis type 2 clinical and therapeutic implications显示文摘Autosomal dominant osteopetrosis type 2 (ADO2) is a high-density brittle bone disease characterized by bone pain,multiple fractures and skeletal-related events,including nerve compression syndrome and hematological failure.We demonstrated that in mice carrying the heterozygous Clcn7^G213R mutation,whose human mutant homolog CLCN7^G215R affects patients,the clinical impacts of ADO2 extend beyond the skeleton,affecting several other organs.The hallmark of the extra-skeletal alterations is a consistent perivascular fibrosis,associated with high numbers of macrophages and lymphoid infiltrates.Fragmented clinical information in a small cohort of patients confirms extra-skeletal alterations consistent with a systemic disease,in line with the observation that the CLCN7 gene is expressed in many organs.ADO2 mice also show anxiety and depression and their brains exhibit not only perivascular fibrosis but also β-amyloid accumulation and astrogliosis,suggesting the involvement of the nervous system in the pathogenesis of the ADO2 extra-skeletal alterations.Extra-skeletal organs share a similar cellular pathology,confirmed also in vitro in bone marrow mononuclear cells and osteoclasts,characterized by an impairment of the exit pathway of the Clcn7 protein product,ClC7,through the Golgi,with consequent reduced ClC7 expression in late endosomes and lysosomes,associated with high vesicular pH and accumulation of autophagosome markers.Finally,an experimental siRNA therapy,previously proven to counteract the bone phenotype,also improves the extra-skeletal alterations.These results could have important clinical implications,supporting the notion that a systematic evaluation of ADO2 patients for extra-skeletal symptoms could help improve their diagnosis,clinical management,and therapeutic options. | Antonio Maurizi Mattia Capulli Annabel Curle Rajvi Patel Argia Ucci Juliana Alves Cotes Harriet Oxford Shireen R. | 10 | Exercise interventions for older adults: A systematic review of meta-analyses显示文摘Background:The evidence concerning which physical exercise characteristics are most effective for older adults is fragmented.We aimed to characterize the extent of this diversity and inconsistency and identify future directions for research by undertaking a systematic review of metaanalyses of exercise interventions in older adults.Methods:We searched the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews,PsycInfo,MEDLINE,Embase,CINAHL,AMED,SPORTDiscus,and Web of Science for articles that met the following criteria:(1)meta-analyses that synthesized measures of improvement(e.g.,effect sizes)on any outcome identified in studies of exercise interventions;(2)participants in the studies meta-analyzed were adults aged 65+or had a mean age of 70+;(3)meta-analyses that included studies of any type of exercise,including its duration,frequency,intensity,and mode of delivery;(4)interventions that included multiple components(e.g.,exercise and cognitive stimulation),with effect sizes that were computed separately for the exercise component;and(5)meta-analyses that were published in any year or language.The characteristics of the reviews,of the interventions,and of the parameters improved through exercise were reported through narrative synthesis.Identification of the interventions linked to the largest improvements was carried out by identifying the highest values for improvement recorded across the reviews.The study included 56 meta-analyses that were heterogeneous in relation to population,sample size,settings,outcomes,and intervention characteristics.Results:The largest effect sizes for improvement were found for resistance training,meditative movement interventions,and exercise-based active videogames.Conclusion:The review identified important gaps in research,including a lack of studies investigating the benefits of group interventions,the characteristics of professionals delivering the interventions associated with better outcomes,and the impact of motivational strategies and of significant others(e.g.,carers)on intervention delivery and outcomes. | Claudio Di Lorito Annabelle Long Adrian Byrne Rowan H.Harwood John R.F.Gladman Stefan Schneider Pip Logan Alessandro Bosco Veronika van der Wardt | 2021 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2021,10,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Toluene degradation by a water/silicone oil mixture for the design of two phase partitioning bioreactors显示文摘Toluene degradation performances were studied in a 10 L Two-Phase Partitioning Bioreactor(TPPB).The liquid phase consisted of a mixture of water and PDMS 50(Poly Di Methyl Siloxane,i.e.silicone oil,viscosity of 46 m Pa·s) in the volume ratio of 75%/25%.Two series of experiments were carried out:in the first,the reactor was sequentially supplied with toluene whereas in the second,toluene was continuously supplied.Activated sludge from the wastewater treatment plant of Beaurade(Rennes,France) was used at an initial concentration of 0.5 dry mass g·(mixture L)^(-1).The elimination capacity(EC) was investigated as well as the change in biomass concentration over time.Toluene biodegradation was very ef ficient(removal ef ficiency,RE=100%) for toluene flows ranging from 0.2 to 1.2 ml·h^(-1),corresponding to elimination capacities of up to 104 g·m^(-3)·h^(-1).For a toluene flow of 1.2 ml·h^(-1),the biomass concentration measured at the end of the experiment was 4.7 dry mass g·(mixture L)^(-1).The oxygen concentration in the liquid phase was clearly not a limiting factor in these operating conditions.Based on these results,an extrapolation leading to the design of a large-scale pilot TPPB can now be considered to study toluene degradation performances in industrial conditions. | Maxime Guillerm Annabelle Couvert Abdeltif Amrane Edith Norrant Audrey Breton éric Dumont | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,10: | 2 |
