| 1 | Larvicidal efficacies and chemical composition of essential oils of Pinus sylvestris and Syzygium aromaticum against mosquitoes显示文摘Objective:To assess the chemical composition and mosquito larvicidal potentials of essential oils of locally sourced Pinus sylvestris(P.sylvestris)and Syzygium aromatkum(S.aromaticum)against Aedes aegypti(A.aegypti)and Culex quinquefasciatus(C.quinquefasciatus).Method:The chemical composition of the essential oils of both plants was determined using GCMS while the larvicidal bioassay was carried out using different concentrations of the oils against the larvae of A.aegypti and C.quinquefasciatus in accordance with the standard protocol.Results:The results as determined by GC-MS showed that oil of S.aromaticum has eugenol(80.5%)as its principal constituent while P.sylvestris has 3-Cyclohexene-1-methanol,.alpha.,.alpha.4-trimethyl(27.1%)as its dominant constituent.Both oils achieved over 85%larval mortality within24 h.The larvae of A.aegypti were more susceptible to the oils[LC_(50)(S.aromaticum)=92.56 mg/L,LC_(50)(P.sylvestris)=100.39 mg/L]than C.quinquefasciatus[LC_(50)(S.aromaticum)=124.42 mg/L;LC_(50)(P.sylvestris)=128.00 mg/L].S.aromaticum oil was more toxic to the mosquito larvae than oil of P.sylvatris but the difference in lethal concentrations was insignificant(P>0.05).Condusioii:The results justify the larvicidal potentials of both essential oils and the need to incorporate them in vector management and control. | Kehinde Adenike Fayemiwo Monsuru Adebayo Adeleke Ovie Princewill Okoro Shola Hezekiah Awojide Ilias Olufemi Awoniyi | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014，4，1： | 4 |

| 3 | Superior mesenteric artery syndrome:Diagnosis and management显示文摘Superior mesenteric artery(SMA)syndrome(also known as Wilkie's syndrome,cast syndrome,or aorto-mesenteric compass syndrome)is an obstruction of the duodenum caused by extrinsic compression between the SMA and the aorta.The median age of patients is 23 years old(range 0-91 years old)and predominant in females over males with a ratio of 3:2.The symptoms are variable,consisting of postprandial abdominal pain,nausea and vomiting,early satiety,anorexia,and weight loss and can mimic anorexia nervosa or functional dyspepsia.Because recurrent vomiting leads to aspiration pneumonia or respiratory depression via metabolic alkalosis,early diagnosis is required.The useful diagnostic modalities are computed tomography as a standard tool and ultrasonography,which has advantages in safety and capability of real-time assessments of SMA mobility and duodenum passage.The initial treatment is usually conservative,including postural change,gastroduodenal decompression,and nutrient management(success rates:70%-80%).If conservative therapy fails,surgical treatment(i.e.,laparoscopic duodenojejunostomy)is recommended(success rates:80%-100%). | Akihiko Oka Muyiwa Awoniyi Nobuaki Hasegawa Yuri Yoshida Hiroshi Tobita Norihisa Ishimura Shunji Ishihara | 2023 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2023，11，15： | 2 |
