| 1 | On the feasibility of re-stimulation of shale wells显示文摘As a result of advances in horizontal completions and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing, the U.S. has been able to economically develop several decades of worth of natural gas. However, a considerable concern has risen on the economic viability of shale gas development for reasons associated with the fast production declines as well as recent down-turns of natural gas prices besides rises in the costs of new technologies. Therefore, an economic analysis is required to investigate the profitability of the refracturing treatment of unconventional gas resources. Net present value of cash flows and internal rate of return are calculated for a range of gas prices considering 20 years of natural gas production from a typical unconventional shale gas reservoir. A systematic comparison is then accomplished for three scenarios:(1) re-fracturing versus no refracturing,(2) combination of re-fracturing and drilling new wells, and(3) time-dependent re-fracturing treatment.Further, this paper incorporates the cost of re-fracturing treatment, the cost of drilling a new horizontal well, the water treatment cost, as well as the current and future price of natural gas in the model. | 2 | Direct synthesis of La-Mg-Ni-Co type hydrogen storage alloys from oxide mixtures显示文摘(La_(1-x)Mg_x)_2(Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.2))_7(x = 0.125, 0.25, 0.5) alloys were synthesized from the sintered mixture of La_2O_3+ Ni O + Co O + Mg O in the molten CaCl_2 electrolyte at 750 °C and the electrochemical hydrogen storage capacities of the synthesized alloys were measured. Non-hygroscopic LaNiO_3 phase formed during sintering(at 1200 °C for 2 h) as a result of the reaction of hygroscopic La_2O_3 with NiO. Another sinter product was Mg_(0.4)Ni_(0.6)O phase. Both mixed oxide sinter products facilitated the La-Ni and Mg-Ni phase formations. X-ray diffraction peaks indicated that the first stable phase appeared in the alloy structure was LaNi_5 which formed upon reduction of La_2NiO_4 phase. Increase in Mg content caused formation of La_(1.5)Mg_(0.5)Ni_7 phase in the alloy structure and the presence of this phase improved the hydrogen storage performance of the electrodes.
