| 1 | The 600-mm precipitation isoline distinguishes tree-ring-width responses to climate in China显示文摘The numerous temperature and precipitation reconstructions in China based on tree-ring-width data have played significant roles in furthering the understanding of past climate changes. However, the geographical variability in the responses of trees to climate variations in China remains largely undetermined. Here, we describe an important spatial boundary in the response of trees to climate variations, namely the 600-mm annual precipitation isoline. We found that, to the north of this line, tree-ring widths are usually positively correlated with precipitation and negatively correlated with growing-season temperature. To the south of this line, the tree-ring widths respond positively to temperature, and winter half-year temperatures are the main reconstructed parameters, especially on the third topographical step of China. We also found that precipitation reconstructions based on tree-ring data and the Palmer Drought Severity Index almost exclusively fall in the region of the 200- to 600-mm annual precipitation isolines, not other regions. | 3 | Indole-3-propionic Acid-aggravated CCl_(4)-induced Liver Fibrosis via the TGF-β1/Smads Signaling Pathway显示文摘Background and Aims:The pathogenesis of liver fibrosis involves liver damage,inflammation,oxidative stress,and intestinal dysfunction.Indole-3-propionic acid(IPA)has been demonstrated to have antioxidant,anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities,and a role in maintaining gut homeostasis.The current study aimed to investigate the role of IPA in carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-induced liver fibrosis and explore the underlying mechanisms.Methods:The liver fibrosis model was established in male C57BL/6 mice by intraperitoneal injection of CCl4 twice weekly.IPA intervention was made orally(20 mg/kg daily).The degree of liver injury and fibrosis were assessed by serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and histopathology.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)were used to detect the inflammatory cytokines.The malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathione,glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,and catalase were determined via commercial kits.Hepatocyte apoptosis was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling assay.The expression of mRNA and protein was assayed by qPCR,Western blotting,or immunohistochemical staining.Results:After IPA treatment,the ALT and AST,apoptotic cells,and pro-inflammatory factor levels were enhanced significantly.Moreover,IPA intervention up-regulated the expression of collagen I,α-smooth muscle actin,tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1,matrix metalloproteinase-2,transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),Smad3,and phosphorylated-Smad2/3.Additionally,IPA intervention did not affect the MDA level.Attractively,the administration of IPA remodeled the gut flora structure.Conclusions:IPA aggravated CCl_(4)-induced liver damage and fibrosis by activating HSCs via the TGF-β1/Smads signaling pathway. | Fei Liu Changfeng Sun Yuanfang Chen Fei Du Yuxiang Yang Gang Wu | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,6: | 5 |

OM consisted of both natural(autochthonous and allochthonous) and anthropogenic inputs.The natural OM included input from vascular plants,especially non-woody angiosperms. The allochthonous input included plankton and microbial production, likely due to localized eutrophication. | 10 | Identification and Expression Profile of a Neuropeptide LFRFamide-Like Gene During Different Stages of Gonadal Development in the Cephalopod Sepia pharaonis显示文摘Neuropeptides are widely distributed in vertebrates and invertebrates,regulating a variety of physiological activities in the organisms,such as metabolism,feeding and reproduction.In this study,to explore the function of neuropeptide LFRFamide in Sepia pharaonis,the full-length cDNA of LFRFamide-like gene(named SpLFRFL,MG869822.1)was identified with rapid amplification of cDNA ends(RACE)method.The sequence of SpLFRFL was 860 bp in length and encoded 188 amino acids containing 4 different mature peptides:1 copy of PHTPFRFamide,NSLFRFamide,TIFRFamide,and 3 copies of GNLFRFamide.Multiple alignment and phylogenetic analysis results showed that SpLFRFL shared high identity with LFRFamides of Sepia officinalis and Sepiella japonica and had the closest relationship with them.Through quantitative Real-time PCR(qRT-PCR),it was found that the SpLFRFL gene was highly expressed in the optic lobe and brain at three different stages during gonad development in both genders.Moreover,the four mature peptides at a concentration of 0.01μmol L^(−1) could inhibit the protein synthesis in the Chinese hamster ovary cell strain-K1(CHOK1)induced by SpGnRH.These data suggest that SpLFRFL might be involved in the development and reproduction of S.pharaonis.The results can contribute to future studies on neuropeptide evolution and function and benefit the cuttlefish farming. | QIU Jiayin SUN Lianlian LI Shuang ZHOU Xu CHI Changfeng ZHENG Libing | 2024 | Journal of Ocean University of China2024,23,2: | 0 |

| 13 | Climate-Vegetation Coverage Interactions in the Hengduan Mountains Area, Southeastern Tibetan Plateau, and Their Downstream Effects显示文摘Little is known about the mechanism of climate-vegetation coverage coupled changes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)region,which is the most climatically sensitive and ecologically fragile region with the highest terrain in the world.This study,using multisource datasets(including satellite data and meteorological observations and reanalysis data)revealed the mutual feedback mechanisms between changes in climate(temperature and precipitation)and vegetation coverage in recent decades in the Hengduan Mountains Area(HMA)of the southeastern TP and their influences on climate in the downstream region,the Sichuan Basin(SCB).There is mutual facilitation between rising air temperature and increasing vegetation coverage in the HMA,which is most significant during winter,and then during spring,but insignificant during summer and autumn.Rising temperature significantly enhances local vegetation coverage,and vegetation greening in turn heats the atmosphere via enhancing net heat flux from the surface to the atmosphere.The atmospheric heating anomaly over the HMA thickens the atmospheric column and increases upper air pressure.The high pressure anomaly disperses downstream via the westerly flow,expands across the SCB,and eventually increases the SCB temperature.This effect lasts from winter to the following spring,which may cause the maximum increasing trend of the SCB temperature and vegetation coverage in spring.These results are helpful for estimating future trends in climate and eco-environmental variations in the HMA and SCB under warming scenarios,as well as seasonal forecasting based on the connection between the HMA eco-environment and SCB climate. | Congxi FANG Jinlei CHEN Chaojun OUYANG Lu WANG Changfeng SUN Quan ZHANG Jun WEN | 2024 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2024,41,4: | 0 |
