| 1 | A discussion on the upper limit of maturity for gas generation by marine kerogens and the utmost of gas generative potential:Taking the study on the Tarim Basin as an example显示文摘The experimental data yielded by Rock-Eval pyrolysis, kerogen atomic H/C, Py-GC and gold-tube sealing thermal simulation on the marine Cambrian-Ordovician source rock from the Tarim Basin revealed that the upper limit of maturity for natural gas generation or the 'deadline of gas generation' for marine types I and II kerogens is equal to 3.0% of vitrinite reflectance (Ro); while the 'deadline of gas generation' for type III kerogens typically like coals is as high as 10% Ro. Thus, different organic matter has obviously different utmost maturities for gas generation. The mass-balance calculation by kerogen elements showed that when Ro>1.5%, the utmost amount of gas generation for the marine type II kerogen is less than 185 m3/t TOC, accounting for less than 30% of its total hydrocarbon generative potential; when Ro>2.0%, it becomes 110 m3/t TOC, less than 20% of the total hydrocarbon generative potential. The amount of the gas generative potential obtained by Rock-Eval is only around one tenth of the calculated value by the mass balance of kerogen elements at the same thermal evolutionary stage, while those by Py-GC and gold-tube sealing simulation are intervenient between the above two. | 2 | Formation mechanism of condensates, waxy and heavy oils in the southern margin of Junggar Basin, NW China显示文摘It is a challenge to determine the source and genetic relationship of condensate, waxy and heavy oils in one given complicated petroliferous area, where developed multiple sets of source rocks with different maturity and various chemical features.The central part of southern margin of Junggar Basin, NW China is such an example where there are condensates, light oils, normal density oils, heavy crude oils and natural gases. The formation mechanism of condensates has been seriously debated for long time;however, no study has integrated it with genetic types of waxy and heavy oils. Taking the central part of southern margin of Junggar Basin as a case, this study employs geological and geochemical methods to determine the formation mechanism of condensates,waxy and heavy oils in a complicated petroliferous area, and reveals the causes and geochemical processes of the co-occurrence of different types of crude oils in this region. Based on detailed geochemical analyses of more than 40 normal crude oils, light oils,condensates and heavy oils, it is found that the condensates are dominated by low carbon number n-alkanes and enriched in light naphthenics and aromatic hydrocarbons. Heptane values of these condensates range from 19% to 21%, isoheptane values from1.9 to 2.1, and toluene/n-heptane ratios from 1.5 to 2.0. The distribution of n-alkanes in the condensates presents a mirror image with high density waxy crude oils and heavy oils. Combined with the oil and gas-source correlations of the crude oils, condensates and natural gas, it is found that the condensates are product of evaporative fractionation and/or phase-controlled fractionation of reservoir crude oils which were derived from mature Cretaceous lacustrine source rocks in the relatively early stage. The waxy oils are the intermediate products of evaporative fractionation and/or phase-controlled fractionation of reservoir crude oils, while the heavy oils are in-situ residuals. Therefore, evaporative fractionation and/or phase-controlled fractionation would account for the formation of the condensate, light oil, waxy oil and heavy oil in the central part of southern margin of Junggar Basin, resulting in a great change of the content in terms of light alkanes, naphthenics and aromatics in condensates, followed by great uncertainties of toluene/n-heptane ratios due to migration and re-accumulation. | 3 | miRNA-dysregulation associated with tenderness variation induced by acute stress in Angus cattle显示文摘miRNAs are a class of small, single-stranded, non-coding RNAs that perform post-transcriptional repression of target genes by binding to 3' untranslated regions. Research has found that miRNAs involved in the regulation of many metabolic processes. Here we uncovered that the beef quality of Angus cattle sharply diversified after acute stress. By performing miRNA microarray analysis, 13 miRNAs were significantly differentially expressed in stressed group compared to control group. Using a bioinformatics method, 135 protein-coding genes were predicted as the targets of significant differentially expressed miRNAs. | 6 | Either transepidermal water loss rates or stratum corneum hydration levels can predict quality of life in children with atopic dermatitis显示文摘Importance:Patients with atopic dermatitis(AD)display compromised epidermal barrier and suffer from poor quality of life.We hypothesized that quality of life could reflect in the changes in the epidermal barrier function.Objective:To determine whether the epidermal barrier function correlates with the severity of pruritus and/or life quality in children with AD.Methods:A total of 120 children,aged 0-12 years,with moderate AD were enrolled.Children were topically treated with topical corticosteroids(TCS)and an emollient for 2 weeks.The Eczema Area and Severity Index(EASI),visual analogue scale(VAS)for pruritus severity,the Infant’s Dermatitis Quality of Life Index(IDQOL)and the Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index(CDLQI)were evaluated.Transepidermal water loss(TEWL)rates,stratum corneum(SC)hydration,and skin surface pH were measured.Correlations of epidermal barrier function with pruritus,life quality,and EASI were determined.Results:Following 2-week treatments,significant improvements were observed in EASI,TEWL,SC hydration,the VAS of pruritus,as well as DQOL(P<0.001 for all).TEWL positively,while SC hydration negatively correlated with VAS pruritus,DQOL,and EASI(P<0.001).Interpretation:Both TEWL and SC hydration levels can serve as indicators of the severity of pruritus and quality of life in children with AD. | Shan Wang Chunping Shen Mutong Zhao Lei Jiao Jing Tian Yang Wang Lin Ma Mao-Qiang Mao-Qiang Man | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,4: | 1 |

| 18 | A meta-analysis on the effects of probiotics on the performance of pre-weaning dairy calves显示文摘Background:Probiotics have been used in livestock production for many years,but information on their benefits during the early life of calves is inconsistent.This study aimed to assess the effects of probiotics on the performance of pre-weaning dairy calves and identify the factors influencing their effect sizes.Results:Forty-nine studies were selected for meta-analysis based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.The study qualities were evaluated using a predefined risk assessment tool following GRADE guidelines.Meta-analysis results showed that probiotics increased the growth performance(body weight by 1.988 kg and average daily gain by40.689 g/d),decreased digestibility and feed efficiency(feed conversion rate by 0.073),altered rumen parameter(decreased acetate by 2.815 mmol/L and increased butyrate by 0.788 mmol/L),altered blood parameter(decreased AST by 4.188 U/L,increased BHBA by 0.029 mmol/L and IgG by 0.698 g/L),increased faecal parameter(faecal bacteria counts by 0.680 log10CFU/g),based on the strict criteria(P_(SMD)<0.05,I^(2)<50%).Additionally,probiotics increased digestibility and feed efficiency(starter dry matter intake by 0.034 kg/d and total dry matter intake by 0.020 kg/d),altered blood parameter(increased IgA by 0.313 g/L,IgM by 0.262 g/L and total antioxidant capacity by 0.441 U/mL,decreased MDA by 0.404 nmol/mL),decreased faecal parameter(faecal score by 0.052),based on the loose criteria(P_(SMD)<0.05,I^(2)>50%).Regression and sub-group analyses showed that probiotic strains,supplementation dosage,and methods significantly affected the performance of calves.The probiotics supplied with more than 9.5 log10CFU/d significantly increased IgA and IgM contents(P_(SMD)<0.05).Additionally,the compound probiotics significantly increased TDMI,IgA,and IgM(P_(SMD)≤0.001).Furthermore,probiotics supplemented in liquid(whole milk or milk replacer)significantly increased TDMI and decreased faecal score(P_(SMD)<0.05),while in whole milk,they significantly increased body weight,IgA,and IgM(P_(SMD)<0.001).Conclusions:Probiotics could improve the growth performance,feed intake and efficiency,rumen fermentation,immune and antioxidant capacity,and health of pre-weaning calves.However,the effect sizes were related to the dosage,composition,and supplementation methods of probiotics. | Liyun Wang Honghong Sun Haixu Gao Yaohui Xia Linsen Zan Chunping Zhao | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,3: | 0 |
