| 1 | Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy using novel magnetic compressive anastomats in canine model of obstructive jaundice显示文摘BACKGROUND:The traditional hand-sewn Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy is technically complicated,and the incidence of postoperative complications has remained high.A set of novel magnetic compressive anastomats was introduced to facilitate choledochojejunostomy and improve the prognosis of patients.METHODS:After ligating the common bile duct for 7 days,16 dogs were randomly divided into two groups (n=8 per group).Anastomats were used in the study group,and the traditional hand-sewn method was used in the control group for standard Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy.We compared the operation time,incidence of complications,gross appearance,and pathological disparity in stoma between the two groups in 1-month and 3-month follow-up examinations.RESULTS:The time spent on constructing the anastomosis for the study group was significantly shortened.Although no anastomotic stenosis occurred in the two groups,the narrowing rate of biliary-enteric anastomosis was much higher in the control group.There was one case of bile leakage in the control group,whereas no bile leakage occurred in the study group.A smoother surface,an improved layer apposition,and a lower local inflammatory response were identified in the anastomosis of the study group.CONCLUSION:The structures of the novel magnetic compressive anastomats are simple,and they are time-saving,safe and efficient for performing Roux-en-Y choledocho- jejunostomy procedures in a canine model of obstructive jaundice. | Chao Fan,Xiao-Peng Yan,Shi-Qi Liu,Chun-Bao Wang,Jian-Hui Li,Liang Yu,Zheng Wu and Yi Lv Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Department of Pathology,First Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710061,China Department of Surgical Oncology,Third Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710068,China | 2012 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,1: | 49 |

| 3 | Gegen Qinlian decoction enhances immunity and protects intestinal barrier function in colorectal cancer patients via gut microbiota显示文摘BACKGROUND We previously showed,using the Traditional Chinese Medicine System Pharmacology Database,that Gegen Qinlian decoction(GQD)had a direct antitumor effect,and was combined with programmed cell death protein(PD)-1 inhibitors to treat microsatellite stable(MSS)tumor-bearing mice.However,the effect of GQD on patients with colorectal cancer(CRC)is not clear.AIM To determine the therapeutic mechanism of GQD in improving immune function,reducing inflammation and protecting intestinal barrier function.METHODS Seventy patients with CRC were included in this study:37 in the control group and 33 in the treatment group.The proportions of CD4+T,CD8+T,natural killer(NK),NKT and T regulatory cells were measured by flow cytometry.Levels of the cytokines tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interferon(IFN)-γ,interleukin(IL)-2,IL-6,IL-10 and serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine;5-HT)in serum were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The expression of zonula occludens(ZO)-1,occludin,nuclear factor(NF)-κB and TNF-αin tumor and normal tissues was measured by immunohistochemistry.The composition of gut microbiota from patients in the treatment group was assessed using 16S rDNA analysis.RESULTS There were no adverse events in the treatment group.The proportion of CD4+T cells and NKT cells in the post-treatment group was significantly higher than that in the pre-treatment and control groups(P<0.05).The level of TNF-αin the posttreatment group was significantly lower than that in the pre-treatment and control groups(P<0.05).The concentration of 5-HT in the post-treatment group was significantly lower than that in the pre-treatment group(P<0.05).The expression of ZO-1 and occludin in tumor tissues in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The expression of ZO-1 in normal tissues of the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.010).Compared with the control group,expression of NF-κB and TNF-αin tumor tissues of the treatment group was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the pre-treatment group,GQD decreased the relative abundance of Megamonas and Veillonella.In addition,GQD increased the relative abundance of Bacteroides,Akkermansia and Prevotella.CONCLUSION GQD enhances immunity and protects intestinal barrier function in patients with CRC by regulating the composition of gut microbiota. | Yang Li Zhong-Xin Li Chen-Yang Xie Jing Fan Ji Lv Xin-Jian Xu Jian Lv Wen-Tao Kuai Yi-Tao Jia | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,48: | 23 |

| 5 | Sutureless Intestinal Anastomosis with a Novel Device of Magnetic Compression Anastomosis显示文摘Objective To explore the feasibility and efficiency of a novel magnetic compression anastomats(MCAs) in intestinal anastomosis.Methods A total of 36 male mongrel canines underwent intestinal anastomosis using traditional hand-sewn(n=18) or a novel MCAs(n=18).We compared the anastomosis time,postoperative complications,bursting strength of anastomoses,gross appearance,and pathology between two groups at each time-point of follow-up.Results The mean anastomosis time with MCAs was significantly less than that with hand-sewn(8.50±1.95 vs.31.1±4.32 minutes,P<0.001).The blood stools and intussusceptions occurred in both groups during follow-up period.Only 1 mongrel canine receiving intestinal anastomosis by MCAs experienced anastomotic leakage.The average bursting pressure of anastomoses obtained from mongrel canines undergoing intestinal anastomosis by MCAs was significantly higher than that by traditional hand-sewn at 1 week's follow-up time(P<0.05).Gross appearance of the anastomoses constructed by MCAs was relatively smoother and flatter.Pathological evalution of anastomoses revealed that general inflammation was greater in hand-sewn anastomoses than magnetic anastomosis.Conclusion The magnetic compression anastomat is a safe and effective device of sutureless intestinal anastomosis in canine models. | Chao Fan Jia Ma Hong-ke Zhang Rui Gao Jian-hui Li Liang Yu Zheng Wu Yi Lv | 2011 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2011,26,3: | 20 |
| 6 | Sophocarpine attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting the TLR4 signaling pathway in rats显示文摘AIM:To explore the effect of sophocarpine on experimental liver fibrosis and the potential mechanism involved.METHODS:Sophocarpine was injected intraperitoneally in two distinct rat hepatic fibrosis models induced either by dimethylnitrosamine or bile duct ligation.Masson’s trichrome staining,Sirius red staining and hepatic hydroxyproline level were used for collagen determination.Primary hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)were isolated and treated with different concentrations of sophocarpine.Real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the mRNA levels of fibrotic markers and cytokines.The expression of pathway proteins was measured by Western blot.The Cell Counting Kit-8 test was used to detect the proliferation rate of activated HSCs treated with a gradient concentration of sophocarpine.RESULTS:Sophocarpine decreased serum levels of aminotransferases and total bilirubin in rats under chronic insult.Moreover,administration of sophocarpine suppressed extracellular matrix deposition and prevented the development of hepatic fibrosis.Furthermore,sophocarpine inhibited the expression ofα-smooth muscle actin(SMA),interleukin(IL)-6,transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4),and extracellular-related kinase(ERK)in rats.Sophocarpine also down-regulated the mRNA expression ofα-SMA,collagenⅠ,collagenⅢ,TGF-β1,IL-6,tumor necrosis factor-αand monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and decreased protein levels of TLR4,p-ERK,p-JNK,p-P38 and p-IKK in vitro after Lipopolysaccharide induction.In addition,sophocarpine inhibited the proliferation of HSCs accompanied by a decrease in the expression of Cyclin D1.The protein level of proliferating cell nuclear antigen was decreased in activated HSCs following a gradient concentration of sophocarpine.CONCLUSION:Sophocarpine can alleviate liver fibrosis mainly by inhibiting the TLR4 pathway.Sophocarpine may be a potential chemotherapeutic agent for chronic liver diseases. | Hui Qian Jian Shi Ting-Ting Fan Jiao Lv Si-Wen Chen Chun-Yan Song Zhi-Wu Zheng Wei-Fen Xie Yue-Xiang Chen | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,7: | 19 |
| 7 | Minimally invasive surgery alone compared with intensity-modulated radiotherapy for primary stage I nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Background:The National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)as the primary curative treatment for newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),but the radiation-related complications and relatively high medical costs remain a consequential burden for the patients.Endoscopic nasopharyngectomy(ENPG)was successfully applied in recurrent NPC with radiation free and relatively low medical costs.In this study,we examined whether ENPG could be an effective treatment for localized stage I NPC.Methods:Ten newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients voluntarily received ENPG alone from June 2007 to September 2017 in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.Simultaneously,the data of 329 stage I NPC patients treated with IMRT were collected and used as a reference cohort.The survival outcomes,quality of life(QOL),and medical costs between two groups were compared.Results:After a median follow-up of 59.0 months(95%CI 53.4-64.6),no death,locoregional recurrence,or distant metastasis was observed in the 10 patients treated with ENPG.The 5-year overall survival,local relapse-free survival,regional relapse-free survival,and distant metastasis-free survival among the ENPG-treated patients was similar to that among the IMRT-treated patients(100%vs.99.1%,100%vs.97.7%,100%vs.99.0%,100%vs.97.4%,respectively,P>0.05).In addition,compared with IMRT,ENPG was associated with decreased total medical costs($4090.42±1502.65 vs.$12620.88±4242.65,P<0.001)and improved QOL scores including dry mouth(3.3±10.5 vs.34.4±25.8,P<0.001)and sticky saliva(3.3±10.5 vs.32.6±23.3,P<0.001).Conclusions:ENPG alone was associated with promising long-term survival outcomes,low medical costs,and satisfactory QOL and might therefore be an alternative strategy for treating newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients who refused radiotherapy.However,the application of ENPG should be prudent,and prospective clinical tri-als were needed to further verify the results. | You-Ping Liu Xing Lv Xiong Zou Yi-Jun Hua Rui You Qi Yang Le Xia Shao-Yan Guo Wen Hu Meng-Xia Zhang Si-Yuan Chen Mei Lin Yu-Long Xie Li-Zhi Liu Rui Sun Pei-Yu Huang Wei Fan Xiang Guo Ming-Huang Hong Ming-Yuan Chen | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 17 |
| 8 | Evaluation of liver functional reserve by combining D-sorbitol clearance rate and CT measured liver volume显示文摘AIM: Our research attempted to evaluate the overall functional reserve of cirrhotic liver by combination of hepatic functional blood flow, liver volume, and ChildPugh′s classification, and to discuss its value of clinical application.METHODS: Ninety two patients with portal hypertension due to hepatic cirrhosis were investigated. All had a historyof haematemesis and hematochezia, esophageal and gastric fundus varices, splenomegaly and hypersplenia.A 2-year follow-up was routinely performed and no one was lost. Twenty two healthy volunteers were used as control group. Blood and urine samples were collected 4times before and after intravenous D-sorbitol infusion.The hepatic clearance (CLH) of D-sorbitol was then calculated according to enzymatic spectrophotometric method while the total blood flow (QToTAL) and intrahepatic shunt (RINs) were detected by multicolor Doppler ultrasound, and the liver volume was measured by spiral CT. Data were estimated by t-test, variance calculation and chi-squared test. The relationships between all these parameters and different groups were investigated according to Child-Pugh classification and postoperative complications respectively.RESULTS: Steady blood concentration was achieved 120 mins after D-sorbitol intravenous infusion, which was (0.358±0.064) mmoⅠ@L-1 in cirrhotic group and (0.189±0.05)mmol@L-1 in control group (P<0.01). CLH=(812.7±112.4) ml@min-1,QTOTAL=(1280.6±131.4) ml@min-1, and RINS=(36.54±10.65)%in cirrhotic group and CLH=(1248.3±210.5) ml.min-1, QTOTAL=(1362.4-±126.9) ml@min-1, and RINS=(8.37±3.32) % in control group (P<0.01). The liver volume of cirrhotic group was 1057±249 cm3, 851±148 cm3 and 663±77 cm3 in Child A, B and C group respectively with significant difference (P<0.001).The average volume of cirrhotic liver in Child B, C group was significantly reduced in comparison with that in control group (P<0.001). The patient, whose liver volume decreased by 40 % with the CLH below 600 ml@min-1, would have a higher incidence of postoperative complications. There was no strict correspondent relationship between CLH, liver volume and Child-Pugh′s classification.CONCLUSION: The hepatic clearance of D-sorbitol, CT measured liver volume can be reliably used for the evaluation of hepatic functional blood flow and liver metabolic volume. | 9 | Chromosomal level assembly and population sequencing of the Chinese tree shrew genome显示文摘Chinese tree shrews (Tupaia belangeri chinensis) have become an increasingly important experimental animal in biomedical research due to their close relationship to primates. An accurately sequenced and assembled genome is essential for understanding the genetic features and biology of this animal. In this study, we used long-read single-molecule sequencing and high-throughput chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) technology to obtain a high-qualitychromosome-scale scaffolding of the Chinese tree shrew genome. The new reference genome (KIZ version 2: TS_2.0) resolved problems in presently available tree shrew genomes and enabled accurate identification of large and complex repeat regions, gene structures, and species-specific genomic structural variants. In addition, by sequencing the genomes of six Chinese tree shrew individuals, we produced a comprehensive map of 12.8 M single nucleotide polymorphisms and confirmed that the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) loci and immunoglobulin gene family exhibited high nucleotide diversity in the tree shrew genome. We updated the tree shrew genome database (TreeshrewDB v2.0: http://gffzzb70c77447da74c53hobvq9wf5vvpc69po.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn) to include the genome annotation information and genetic variations. | 10 | Ionic composition of submicron particles(PM_(1.0)) during the long-lasting haze period in January 2013 in Wuhan, central China显示文摘In January 2013, a long-lasting severe haze episode occurred in Northern and Central China; at its maximum, it covered a land area of approximately 1.4 million km2. In Wuhan, the largest city in Central China, this event was the most severe haze episode in the 21st century. Aerosol samples of submicron particles(PM1.0) were collected during the long-lasting haze episode at an urban site and a suburban site in Wuhan to investigate the ion characteristics of PM1.0 in this area. The mass concentrations of PM1.0 and its water-soluble inorganic ions(WSIIs) were almost at the same levels at two sites, which indicates that PM1.0 pollution occurs on a regional scale in Wuhan. WSIIs(Na+, NH+ 4, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl-, NO-3and SO2-4) were the dominant chemical species and constituted up to 48.4% and 47.4% of PM1.0 at WD and TH, respectively. The concentrations of PM1.0 and WSIIs on haze days were approximately two times higher than on normal days. The ion balance calculations indicate that the particles were more acidic on haze days than on normal days. | 12 | Itopride therapy for functional dyspepsia:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the therapeutic effects of itopride vs other drugs(placebo,domperidone,mosapride) for functional dyspepsia(FD).METHODS:Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of itopride for FD were retrieved from databases.Relevant information was extracted and analyzed,using the relative risk(RR) and weighted mean deviation,as appropriate.A random or fixed effect model was used,based on the heterogeneity of the included articles,and visual inspection of funnel plots was used to evaluate publication bias.RESULTS:Nine RCTs enrolling 2620 FD cases were included;1372 cases received itopride treatment and 1248 cases received placebo or other drugs(control groups).Compared with control groups,itopride had superior RR values of 1.11 [95%CI:(1.03,1.19),P = 0.006],1.21 [95%CI:(1.03,1.44),P = 0.02],and1.24 [95%CI:(1.01,1.53),P = 0.04] for global patient assessment,postprandial fullness,and early satiety,respectively.For the Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire score,the weighted mean deviation was-1.38 [95%CI:(-1.75,-1.01),P < 0.01].The incidence of adverse effects was similar in the itopride and control groups.The funnel plots for all indicators showed no evidence of publication bias.CONCLUSION:Itopride has good efficacy in terms of global patients assessment,postprandial fullness,and early satiety in the treatment of patients with FD and shows a low rate of adverse reactions.Itopride can greatly improve FD syndromes-score. | Xuan Huang Bin Lv Shuo Zhang Yi-Hong Fan Li-Na Meng | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,48: | 14 |

| 14 | Mechanism of aqueous fructus aurantii immaturus extracts in neuroplexus of cathartic colons显示文摘AIM: To examine the effect of aqueous fructus aurantii immaturus(FAI) extracts on the intestinal plexus of cathartic colons.METHODS: Cathartic colons were induced in rats with dahuang,a laxative used in traditional Chinese medicine. Once the model was established(after approximately 12 wk),rats were administered mosapride(1.54 mg/kg) or various doses of aqueous FAI extracts(1-4 g/kg) for 14 d. Transit function was assessed using an ink propulsion test. Rats were then sacrificed,and the ultramicrostructure of colonic tissue was examined using transmission electron microscopy. The expression of the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 4(5-HTR4) and neurofilament-H was assessed in colon tissues using real-time PCR,Western blot,and immunohistochemistry.RESULTS: Mosapride and high dose(4 g/kg) of aqueous FAI extracts significantly improved the bowel movement in cathartic colons compared to untreated model colons as measured by the intestinal transit rate(70.06 ± 7.25 and 72.02 ± 8.74,respectively,vs 64.12 ± 5.19; P < 0.05 for both). Compared to controls,the ultramicrostructure of cathartic colons showed signsof neural degeneration. Treatment with mosapride and aqueous FAI extracts resulted in recovery of ultrastructural pathology. Treatment with mosapride alone upregulated the gene and protein expression of 5-HTR4 compared to untreated controls(P < 0.05 for both). Treatment with aqueous FAI extracts(≥ 2 g/kg) increased 5-HTR4 m RNA levels(P < 0.05),but no change in protein level was observed by Western blot or immunohistochemistry. | 15 | Efficacy of suspended moxibustion in stroke rats is associated with a change in tail temperature显示文摘Suspended moxibustion-produced heat can transfer from the acupoint to other sites of the body. The suspended moxibustion should be terminated when clinical propagated sensation disappears, because this implies that the quantity of moxibustion is sufficient. We wanted to investigate if this phenomenon also occurs in experimental animals. In the present study, a rat model of stroke was established and treated with suspended moxibustion at Dazhui (DU14) for 60 minutes. Results showed that the increase in tail temperature began at 15 minutes after suspended moxibustion and decreased gradually at 40 minutes. In addition, neurological function was significantly improved in stroke rats with tail temperature increase following suspended moxibustion, and this effect was associated with significantly reduced tumor necrosis factor α and interleukin 1β mRNA. However, there was no significant difference between 40-and 60-minute suspended moxibustion. | 16 | Rifaximin improves survival in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites: A real-world study显示文摘BACKGROUND Rifaximin has been shown to reduce the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy and other complications in patients with cirrhosis.However,few studies have investigated the effect of rifaximin in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites.AIM To evaluate the effects of rifaximin in the treatment of refractory ascites and to preliminarily explore its possible mechanism.METHODS A total of 75 cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites were enrolled in the study(50 in a rifaximin and 25 in a control group).Patients in the rifaximin group were divided into two subgroups according to the presence of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and treatment with or without other antibiotics(19 patients treated with rifaximin and 31 patients treated with rifaximin plus intravenous antibiotics).All patients received conventional treatment for refractory ascites,while patients in the rifaximin group received oral rifaximin-α200 mg four times daily for at least 2 wk.The ascites grade,fasting weight,liver and kidney function,and inflammatory factors in the plasma were evaluated before and after treatment.In addition,the gut microbiota was determined by metagenomics sequencing to analyse the changes in the characteristics of the gut microbiota before and after rifaximin treatment.The patients were followed for 6 mo.RESULTS Compared with the control group,the fasting weight of patients significantly decreased and the ascites significantly subsided after treatment with rifaximin(P=0.011 and 0.009,respectively).The 6-mo survival rate of patients in the rifaximin group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P=0.048).The concentration of interferon-inducible protein 10 decreased significantly in the rifaximin group compared with that in the control group(P=0.024).The abundance of Roseburia,Haemophilus,and Prevotella was significantly reduced after rifaximin treatment,while the abundance of Lachnospiraceae_noname,Subdoligranulum,and Dorea decreased and the abundance of Coprobacillus increased after treatment with rifaximin plus intravenous antibiotics.The gene expression of virulence factors was significantly reduced after treatment in both subgroups treated with rifaximin or rifaximin plus intravenous antibiotics.CONCLUSION Rifaximin mitigates ascites and improves survival of cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites.A possible mechanism is that rifaximin regulates the structure and function of intestinal bacteria,thus improving the systemic inflammatory state. | Xin-Yue Lv Hui-Guo Ding Jun-Fu Zheng Chun-Lei Fan Lei Li | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,2: | 11 |

Compared with conventional energy storage methods, battery technologies are desirable energy storage devices for GLEES due to their easy modularization, rapid response, flexible installation, and short construction cycles. In general, battery energy storage technologies are expected to meet the requirements of GLEES such as peak shaving and load leveling, voltage and frequency regulation, and emergency response, which are highlighted in this perspective. Furthermore, several types of battery technologies, including lead–acid, nickel–cadmium, nickel–metal hydride, sodium–sulfur, lithium-ion, and flow batteries, are discussed in detail for the application of GLEES.
