| 1 | Annexin A2 as a biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma in Egyptian patients显示文摘AIM To investigate the clinical utility of serum annexin A2(ANXA2) as a diagnostic marker for early hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS This study was performed in HCC Clinic of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt and included: Group 1: Fifty patients with early stage HCC(Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A); Group 2: Twenty five patients with chronic liver disease; and Control Group: Fifteen healthy, age-and sex-matched subjects who were seronegative for viral hepatitis markers. The followinglaboratory investigations were done: Viral hepatitis markers [hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C virus(HCV) antibodies], HCV RNA in HCV antibody-positive patients, serum alpha fetoprotein(AFP), and serum ANXA2 levels.RESULTS In this study, 88% of HCC patients(n = 44) were HCVpositive, while HBV infection represented only 8% of all HCC patients(n = 4); and two patients were negative for both viral markers. A highly significant difference was found between patients with HCC and chronic liver disease as well as controls with regard to serum ANXA2 levels(130, IQR 15-240; 15, IQR 15-17; and 17, IQR 15-30 ng/m L, respectively). | 2 | Optimization of preparation conditions of Fe-Co nanoparticles in low-temperature CO oxidation reaction by taguchi design method显示文摘Mixed iron-cobalt oxide(Co/Fe molar ratio=1/5) are prepared using a simple co-precipitation procedure and studied for the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide.In particular,the effects of a range of preparation variables such as pH value when precipitation,aging temperature,precipitation agent type and aging time are investigated on the catalytic performance of synthesized Fe-Co oxides in CO oxidation reaction.In addition,the preparation factors were optimized by Taguchi design method.The optimized sample was characterized by XRD,N2 adsorption/desorption,TEM and TGA/DTA techniques.The results reveal that the optimized sample shows a mesoporous structure with a narrow pore size distribution centered in the range of 2-7nm.The sample prepared under optimized conditions has high activity and stability toward removal of carbon monoxide at lower temperatures.It is shown that different preparation variables influence the catalytic performance of Fe-Co oxide in CO oxidation reaction. | Abolfazl Biabani Mehran Rezaei Zohreh Fattah | 2012 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,4: | 3 |

| 4 | Rapid Magnetic 3D Printing of Cellular Structures with MCF-7 Cell Inks显示文摘A contactless label-free method using a diamagnetophoretic ink to rapidly print three-dimensional(3D)scafold-free multicellular structures is described.Te inks consist of MCF-7 cells that are suspended in a culture medium to which a paramagnetic salt,diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid gadolinium(III)dihydrogen salt hydrate(Gd-DTPA),is added.When a magnetic feld is applied,the host fuid containing the paramagnetic salt is attracted towards regions of high magnetic feld gradient,displacing the ink towards regions with a low gradient.Using this method,3D structures are printed on ultra-low attachment(ULA)surfaces.On a tissue culture treated(TCT)surface,a 3D printed spheroid coexists with a two-dimensional(2D)cell monolayer,where the composite is termed as a 2.5D structure.Te 3D structures can be magnetically printed within 6 hours in a medium containing 25 mM Gd-DTPA.Te infuence of the paramagnetic salt on MCF-7 cell viability,cell morphology,and ability of cells to adhere to each other to stabilize the printed structures on both ULA and TCT surfaces is investigated.Gene expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha(HIF1�)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)allow comparison of the relative stresses for the printed 3D and 2.5D cell geometries with those for 3D spheroids formed without magnetic assistance.Tis magnetic printing method can be potentially scaled to a higher throughput to rapidly print cells into 3D heterogeneous cell structures with variable geometries with repeatable dimensions for applications such as tissue engineering and tumour formation for drug discovery. | S.Mishriki A.R.Abdel Fattah T.Kammann R.P.Sahu F.Geng I.K.Puri | 2019 | Research2019,,1: | 2 |
| 5 | Novel non-invasive biological predictive index for liver fibrosis in hepatitis C virus genotype 4 patients显示文摘AIM To investigate the diagnostic ability of a non-invasive biological marker to predict liver fibrosis in hepatitis C genotype 4 patients with high accuracy.METHODS A cohort of 332 patients infected with hepatitis C genotype 4 was included in this cross-sectional study. Fasting plasma glucose, insulin, C-peptide, and angiotensinconverting enzyme serum levels were measured. Insulin resistance was mathematically calculated using the homeostasis model of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR).RESULTS Fibrosis stages were distributed based on Metavir score as follows: F0 = 43, F1 = 136, F2 = 64, F3 = 45 and F4 = 44. Statistical analysis relied upon reclassification of fibrosis stages into mild fibrosis(F0-F) = 179, moderate fibrosis(F2) = 64, and advanced fibrosis(F3-F4) = 89. Univariate analysis indicated that age, log aspartate amino transaminase, log HOMA-IR and log platelet count were independent predictors of liver fibrosis stage(P < 0.0001). A stepwise multivariate discriminant functional analysis was used to drive a discriminative model for liver fibrosis. Our index used cut-off values of ≥ 0.86 and ≤-0.31 to diagnose advanced and mild fibrosis, respectively, with receiving operating characteristics of 0.91 and 0.88, respectively.
