Urban-rural disparities in mild cognitive impairment and its functional subtypes among community- dwelling older residents in central China显示文摘background Substantial variations in the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and its subtypes have been reported, although mostly in geographically defined developed countries and regions.Less is known about MCI and its subtypes in rural areas of less developed central China.Aims The study aimed to compare the prevalence of MCI and its subtypes in residents aged 65 years or older in urban and rural areas of Hubei Province,China. Methods Participants aged 65 years or older were recruited between 2018 and 2019.Inperson structured interviews and clinical and neuropsychological assessments were performed at city health community centres and township hospitals.results Among 2644 participants without dementia,735 had MCI,resulting in a prevalence of 27.8%for total MCI,20.9%for amnestic MCI(aMCI)and 6.9%for non-amnestic MCI(naMCI).The prevalence of MCI in urban and rural areas was 20.2%and 44.1%,respectively.After adjusting for demographic factors, the prevalence of total MCI,aMCI and naMCI differed significantly between rural and urban areas(adjusted odds ratio(OR)2.10,1.44 and 3.76,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed an association between rural socioeconomic and lifestyle disadvantage and MCI and its subtypes. Conclusions Our findings suggest that the prevalence of MCI among urban residents in central China is consistent with that in other metropolis areas, such as Shanghai, but the prevalence in rural areas is twice that in urban areas.Prospective studies and dementia prevention in China should focus on rural areas. | Dan Liu Lin Li Lina An Guirong Cheng Cong Chen Mingjun Zou Bo Zhang Xuguang Gan Lang Xu Yangming Ou Qingming Wu Ru Wang Yan Zeng | 2021 | General Psychiatry2021,34,5: | 3
Co-expression of estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor in rat intrinsic cardiac ganglia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have shown that neurons expressing estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor exist in the intrinsic cardiac ganglia in rats. However,it remains to be shown whether estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor are co-expressed within these cells.OBJECTIVE: To determine whether estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor are co-expressed in intrinsic cardiac ganglia.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: This cellular morphology observational study was performed at the Immunohistochemistry Department,Medicine School,Wuhan University of Science and Technology, between March and July in 2007.MATERIALS: Mouse anti-estrogen receptor and rabbit anti-nerve growth factor polyclonal antibody, biotinylated goat anti-mouse IgG,and biotinylated goat anti-rabbit IgG were provided by Wuhan Boster,China.METHODS: Ten healthy,Wistar rats were included in the present study.Ten sections of intrinsic cardiac ganglia from the atrial posterior wall were randomly selected from each rat to perform estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor double-labeling immunohistochemical staining.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expression of estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor in intrinsic cardiac ganglia of rats.RESULTS: Immunohistochemistry results demonstrated expression of estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor in rat intrinsic cardiac ganglia, and double-labeling revealed co-expression of estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor in intrinsic cardiac ganglial cells.CONCLUSION: Estrogen receptor and nerve growth factor were shown to be co-expressed in rat intrinsic cardiac ganglial cells. | Shaochun Zhang Xiaoliu Liu Guirong Cheng Yane Xiong | 2010 | Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,2: | 2
Change in Sediment Load of the Yangtze River after Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘On May 12, 2008, an earthquake of 8.0 magnitude on the Richter scale and its numerous aftershocks devastatingly hit Wenchuan County and its nearby region along the Longman Mountains in Sichuan Province, China. The heavy ruined area was up to 30,000 km2 and 13% of its land surface was denuded by the extremely terrible quakes. The mountain collapses, landslides and debris flows induced by the earthquake not only scared the landscape at the immense scale, but also poured 1.66-billion-m3 sediment combined with offscourings and rubble into the Yangtze River and its breaches. This amount of sediments is 3 times more than the normal amount discharged into the Yangtze River, and will significantly increase sediment transportation of rivers and decrease storage capacities of reservoirs downstream. The dramatic increase in sediment load will imperil the engineering safety and impact the operation of the giant Three-Gorge Hydro-power Station if no proper prevention measures are taken. | CHENG Genwei HE Xiubin CHEN Guirong TAO Heping | 2010 | Journal of Mountain Science2010,7,1: | 1
Research on Co-seismic Displacement of the Yutian MS7.3 Earthquake Based on the High Frequency Data of GNSS显示文摘After the Yutian M_S7.3 earthquake, the authors instantly collected 1Hz high frequency data of the 4 reference stations within 350 km around the epicenter, and calculated the GNSS data with the TRACK module. The results showed that:( 1) The co-seismic displacement of Yutian station, about 54 km from the epicenter,is the most obvious, particularly in the EW component, with a change of about 52.5 ± 11mm,which is more than three times the mean-square error of calculating precision.( 2) In the Yutian reference station, the biggest variation in the EW component appeared within 1 minute after the earthquake.( 3) The change in the NS component is not great. | Li Guirong Buaijieer·Kuerban Zhao Bin Li Rui Li Jie Cheng Ruizhong Wang Xiaoqiang Liu Daiqin Chen Li Paerhat·Zainula Ailixiati·Yushan Chen Shujiang | 2016 | Earthquake Research in China2016,30,4: | 0
Correlation between serum lipid profiles and cognitive impairment in old age:a cross-sectional study显示文摘Background The correlation between cognitive function and lipid profiles, including total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and triglycerides,is inconsistent.Aims This cross-sectional study investigated the association between serum lipid levels and the prevalence of cognitive impairment among community-dwelling older adults and explored this difference in association by gender and urban-rural residency. Methods Participants aged 65 and above in urban and rural areas were recruited between 2018 and 2020,selected from the Hubei Memory and Aging Cohort Study.Detailed neuropsychological evaluations, clinical examinations and laboratory tests were conducted in community health service centres.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyse the correlation between serum lipid profiles and the prevalence of cognitive impairment. Results We identified 1336 cognitively impaired adults(≥65 years)-1066 with mild cognitive impairment and 270 with dementia-from 4746 participants.Triglycerides level was correlated with cognitive impairment in the total sample(χ2=6.420,p=0.011).In gender-stratified multivariate analysis, high triglycerides in males reduced the risk of cognitive impairment(OR:0.785,95%CI:0.623 to 0.989,p=0.040),and high LDL-C in females increased the risk of cognitive impairment(OR:1.282,95%CI:1.040 to 1.581,p=0.020).In both gender-stratified and urban-rural stratified multivariate analyses, high triglycerides reduced the risk of cognitive impairment in older urban men(OR:0.734,95%CI:0.551 to 0.977,p=0.034),and high LDL-C increased the risk of cognitive impairment in older rural women(OR:1.830,95%CI:1.119 to 2.991,p=0.016).Conclusions There are gender and urban-rural differences in the correlation of serum lipids with cognitive impairment.High triglycerides levels may be a protective factor for cognitive function in older urban men, while high LDL-C levels may be a risk factor for cognitive function in older rural women. | Yafu Yu Pingting Yan Guirong Cheng Dan Liu Lang Xu Mengliu Yang Heng Xu Xi Cheng Pengfei Lian Yan Zeng | 2023 | General Psychiatry2023,36,2: | 0
Exploring the psychological impact of the 2022 SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant outbreak in China显示文摘To the editor:The impact of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic in 2020 on mental health was substantialin Chinai2and various other countries.34 Beyond the direct consequences of COVID-19,the pandemic created an environment in which many determinants of mental health were affected.Issues associated with the pandemic, such as loss of livelihood, limited access to medical services, reduced social interactions, and economic downturn, could potentially have adverse effects on the population's mental well-being.5 In November 2021,the World Health Organization(WHO)designated the new variant of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),variant B.1.1.529,as a variant of concern and named it Omicron;its rapid mutation and spread raised a new global health concern. | Gangbin Han Guirong Cheng Feifei Hu Chunli Li Dan Liu Juan Zhou Jing Liu Linya Huang Xiaochang Liu Qianqian Nie Dan Song Deyang Zeng Lang Xu Jinquan Li Yushan Chen Zhen Wei Qiong Wu Xiaoming He Qingming Wu Wei Tan Yufei Mei Xingxing Chen Yangming Ou Jingjing ZhangYafu Yu Mengliu Yang Pengfei Lian Fukai Zhou Renjia Fan Hong Wan Chenlu Hu Yidi Fu Shiyue Li Junyi Wang Cheng Cai Mengdie Pei Yuyang Cui Wanying Cai Yiqing Li Shiyao Pan Chang Chen Yan He Zhaoxia Wu Liu Hu Liang Tao Hongyan Xiao Xinyan Xie Yan Zeng | 2023 | General Psychiatry2023,36,6: | 0
