Multiphysics simulation of VVER-1200 fuel performance during normal operating conditions显示文摘Nuclear fuel performance modeling and simulation are critical tasks for nuclear fuel design optimization and safety analysis under normal and transient conditions.Fuel performance is a complicated phenomenon that involves thermal, mechanical, and irradiation mechanisms and requires special multiphysics modules. In this study,a fuel performance model was developed using the COMSOL Multiphysics platform. The modeling was performed for a 2D axis-symmetric geometry of a UO2fuel pellet in the E110 clad for VVER-1200 fuel. The modeling considers all relevant phenomena, including heat generation and conduction, gap heat transfer, elastic strain, mechanical contact, thermal expansion, grain growth, densification, fission gas generation and release, fission product swelling,gap/plenum pressure, and cladding thermal and irradiation creep. The model was validated using a code-to-code evaluation of the fuel pellet centerline and surface temperatures in the case of constant power,in addition to validation of fission gas release(FGR)predictions. This prediction proved that the model could perform according to previously published VVER nuclear fuel performance parameters.A sensitivity study was also conducted to assess the effects of uncertainty on some of the model parameters. The model was then used to predict the VVER-1200 fuel performance parameters as a function of burnup, including the temperature profiles, gap width, fission gas release, and plenum pressure.A compilation of related material and thermomechanical models was conducted and included in the modeling to allow the user to investigate different material/performance models.Although the model was developed for normal operating conditions,it can be modified to include off-normal operating conditions.Khaled M.Yassin Mohamed H.Hassan Mohammad M.Ghoneim Mostafa S.Elkolil Adel Alyan Said A.Agamy 2023Nuclear Science and Techniques2023,34,2:1
Q-switched fiber laser using carbon platinum saturable absorber on side-polished fiber显示文摘A 1550 nm Q-switched fiber laser using a carbon platinum saturable absorber deposited on side-polished fiber(SPF) is proposed and demonstrated. The SPF is approximately 2 mm with a polarization-dependent loss(PDL)of 0.4 dB and an insertion loss of 2.5 dB. A stable Q-switched output spectrum is obtained at 1559.34 nm with a peak power of ~6 mW, a pulse width of 1.02 μs, pulse energy of 5.8 nJ, average output power of 0.76 mW, and a repetition rate of 131.6 kHz taken at a pump power of 230.0 mW. A signal-to-noise ratio of 49.62 d B indicates that the Q-switched pulse is highly stable.H.Ahmad H.Hassan R.Safaei K.Thambiratnam I.S.Amiri 2017Chinese Optics Letters2017,15,9:1
Type-2 Neutrosophic Set and Their Applications in Medical Databases Deadlock Resolution显示文摘Electronic patient data gives many advantages, but also new difficulties.Deadlocks may delay procedures like acquiring patient information.Distributed deadlock resolution solutions introduce uncertainty due to inaccurate transaction properties.Soft computing-based solutions have been developed to solve this challenge. In a single framework, ambiguous, vague, incomplete, and inconsistent transaction attribute information has received minimal attention. The work presented in this paper employed type-2 neutrosophic logic,an extension of type-1 neutrosophic logic,to handle uncertainty in real-time deadlock-resolving systems. The proposed method is structured to reflect multiple types of knowledge and relations among transactions’features that include validation factor degree, slackness degree, degree of deadline-missed transaction based on the degree of membership of truthiness, degree ofmembership of indeterminacy, and degree ofmembership of falsity. Here, the footprint of uncertainty(FOU)for truth, indeterminacy, and falsity represents the level of uncertainty that exists in the value of a grade of membership. We employed a distributed real-time transaction processing simulator(DRTTPS)to conduct the simulations and conducted experiments using the benchmark Pima Indians diabetes dataset(PIDD).As the results showed, there is an increase in detection rate and a large drop in rollback rate when this new strategy is used. The performance of Type-2 neutrosophicbased resolution is better than the Type-1 neutrosophic-based approach on the execution ratio scale. The improvement rate has reached 10%to 20%,depending on the number of arrived transactions.Marwan H.Hassan Saad M.Darwish Saleh M.Elkaffas 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0
Modelling of an SBR WWTP to Enhance the Performance under Hydraulic Shock Load Using STOAT Software显示文摘Modelling is a tool used to simulate the performance of any type of WWTP(wastewater treatment plant)which empowers the user to optimize the response of works by changing influent loads and operational conditions with minimum effort and low cost.STOAT(sewage treatment operational analysis over time)software is used to simulate the performance of wastewater treatment plants dynamically. In this paper,a model was built by STOAT software for the Hannoville WWTP allowing to analyze and study the enquiries in a shorter period of time associated with laboratory analysis.Additionally, the model can be used to estimate the response of the system to a diversity of problems. The hydraulic shock load was tested for the entire WWTP consequently allowing the application of strategies that guarantee a better performance by presenting the analysis for the entire plant.Through the aid of STOAT software,a model was built for the whole plant with daily sewage volume entering the treatment plant in a year. The study showed whether the plant can accept a higher flow than that it regularly receives or not. This proved to be successful and the plant has the possibility to accept double the hydraulic shock load, meanwhile, the variations of resulting data were acceptable when compared to the Egyptian environmental requirements.Hagar H.Hassan Ahmed M.Ragheb 2019Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture2019,13,11:0
Ballistic design and testing of a composite armour reinforced by CNTs suitable for armoured vehicles显示文摘This paper is investigating the use of composite armour reinforced by nanomaterials, for the protection of light armoured(LAV) and medium armoured military vehicles(MAV), and the interaction between the composite materials and high-performance ballistic projectiles. Four armour materials, consisted of front hybrid fibre reinforced polymer cover layer, ceramic strike-face, fibre reinforced polymer intermediate layer and the metal matrix composite reinforced backplate, were manufactured and assembled by adhesive technology. The proposed laminated protection system is suitable for armoured ground vehicles;however, it could be used as armour on ground, air and naval platforms. The design of the protection system, including material selection and thickness, was elaborated depending on the performance requirements of Level 4 + STANAG 4569 military standard(projectile 14.5 mm × 114 mm API B32) and especially on a design philosophy which is analysed with the specifications. The backplate of this new composite is a hybrid material of Metal Matrix Composite(MMC) reinforced with carbon nanotubes(CNTs), manufactured with the use of powder metallurgy technique. The composite backplate material was morphologically, mechanically and chemically analysed. Results show that all plates are presenting high mechanical properties and ballistic characteristics, compared to commonly used armour plates. Real military ballistic tests according to AEP-STANAG 4569 were carried out for the total composite armour systems. After the ballistic tests, AA2024-CNT3 showed the best protection results, compared with the other plates(AA2024-CNT1 and AA2024-CNT2), with the projectile being unable to fully penetrate the composite plate.Evangelos Ch.Tsirogiannis Evangelos Daskalakis Mohamed H.Hassan Abdalla M.Omar Paulo Bartolo 2024Defence Technology(防务技术)2024,32,2:0
