1Van Vleck paramagnetism of europium oxyhydroxide显示文摘Europium oxyhydroxide crystals were synthesized by the flux method. The as-grown crystals were transparent and had a plate-like shape with natural flat surfaces. The powder XRD data were refined by assuming a monoclinic structure of the space group P21/m and lattice parameters of a=0.4346 nm, b=0.3744 nm, c=0.6107 nm, and β=108.62°. The magnetic susceptibility of the EuOOH crystals exhibited typical Van Vleck temperature-independent paramagnetism below 120 K. The calculated susceptibility, based on Van Vleck's theory, agreed with the experimental data to some extent, with the coupling constant λ=458±10 K. 2Yellow luminescence of co-doped gadolinium oxyhydroxide显示文摘Crystals of co-doped gadolinium oxyhydroxide(GdOOH), Gd0.98Eu0.02-xTbxOOH and Gd1-y-zDyyBizOOH, were synthesized by a flux method. The color coordinates in the Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage(CIE) chromaticity diagram of Gd0.98Eu0.02-xTbxOOH, obtained under 254 nm irradiation, shifted along a straight line with the changing values of x to include the yellow region. 3Fluorescence quantum yield of Gd_(0.9-x)R_xEu_(0.1)OOH(R=Y, La) crystals显示文摘Gd_(0.9-x)R_xEu_(0.1)OOH(R=Y,La) crystals were synthesized by a flux method using a mixture of NaOH and KOH as the flux.X-ray diffraction data were well refined using the Rietveld method assuming that the crystals had a monoclinic structure belonging to the P2_1/m space group.The unit cell volumes of the Gd_(0.9-x)La_xEu_(0.1)OOH crystals increased with increasing x,whereas those of Gd_(0.9-x)Y_xEu_(0.1)OOH decreased with increasing x.The Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage(CIE) chromaticity coordinates of Gd_(0.9-x)R_xEu_(0.1)OOH(R=Y,La) crystals were located in the red region and were nearly constant over the range of x values considered.The fluorescence quantum yield Φ_f monotonically decreased with increasing x regardless of the ionic radii of the substitute ions.The fact that the Φ_f value of La_(0.9)Eu_(0.1)OOH was greater than that of Gd_(0.9)Eu_(0.1)OOH indicated that the observed decrease in the Φ_f values of the Gd_(0.9-x)La_xEu_(0.1)OOH crystals up to x=0.3 could not be attributed to an increase in the distance between Eu^(3+) ions or to a decrease in the Gd^(3+) content.The decrease might be due to an increase of killer centers introduced by elemental substitutions with the larger ion.Hiroaki Samata Katsutoshi Kobayashi Masashi Hanioka Tadashi C.Ozawa 2015Journal of Rare Earths2015,33,12:0
