| 1 | Prognostic significance of combining high mobility group Box-1 and OV-6 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘The inflammatory environment and existence of cancer stem cells are critical for progression and intrahepatic recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) after curative resections. Here, we investigated the prognostic significance of combining high mobility group box 1(HMGB1) expression and hepatic progenitor marker OV6 in hepatocellular carcinoma. Expression of HMGB1 and OV6 was evaluated using immunohistochemistry profiling in tissue microarrays containing samples from 208 HCC patients. Invasive clinical or pathological factors were found in patients with high expression of HMGB1 or OV6. Higher HMGB1 was associated with poorer clinical outcomes, and independently related to elevated 5-year recurrence incidence(85.5% vs. 62.4%, P<0.001). We also found that more OV6 positive staining was correlated with poor prognosis of HCC patients(P<0.001). Notably, expression of HMGB1 was positively correlated with OV6 in density(R2=0.032, P<0.001) and reversely related to HCC outcomes. Abnormal expression of HMGB1 in combination with positive staining of OV6 displayed poorer prognostic performance than single biomarker alone(area under curve(AUC) survival=0.696). | 2 | Aristolochic acids exposure was not the main cause of liver tumorigenesis in adulthood显示文摘Aristolochic acids(AAs) have long been considered as a potent carcinogen due to its nephrotoxicity. Aristolochic acid I(AAI) reacts with DNA to form covalent aristolactam(AL)-DNA adducts,leading to subsequent A to T transversion mutation, commonly referred as AA mutational signature. Previous research inferred that AAs were widely implicated in liver cancer throughout Asia. In this study, we explored whether AAs exposure was the main cause of liver cancer in the context of HBV infection in China's Mainland. Totally 1256 liver cancer samples were randomly retrieved from 3 medical centers and a refined bioanalytical method was used to detect AAI-DNA adducts. 5.10% of these samples could be identified as AAI positive exposure. Whole genome sequencing suggested 8.41% of 107 liver cancer patients exhibited the dominant AA mutational signature, indicating a relatively low overall AAI exposure rate. In animal models, long-term administration of AAI barely increased liver tumorigenesis in adult mice, opposite from its tumor-inducing role when subjected to infant mice. Furthermore, AAI induced dose-dependent accumulation of AA-DNA adduct in target organs in adult mice, with the most detected in kidney instead of liver. | 3 | Geochemistry of rare earth elements and yttrium in Late Permian coals from the Zhongliangshan coalfield, southwestern China显示文摘Rare earth elements and yttrium(REY)in coal deposits are considered promising alternative sources for these resources owing to their increasing global demand.This paper reports the geochemical characteristics of REY in the Late Permian coals from an underground K1a seam section of the Zhongliangshan coalfield in Chongqing,southwestern China.The mineralogy,degree of enrichment,distribution patterns,modes of occurrence,and sediment origin of REY were investigated.Compared with the average of world coals,the concentration of REY in the K1a coals were normal,dominated by light REY(LREY),with less medium and heavy REY(MREY,HREY).The fractionation degree of the MREY and HREY are higher than that of LREY in most K1a coal samples,deduced from the mixed enrichment type of REY,mainly including M-H-type,and a few L-M type and H-type.In addition,the combination of anomalies of Ce,Eu,Gd,and Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) parameters,the terrigenous materials in the K1a coal were derived from the felsic-intermediate rocks at the top of the Emeishan basalt sequence,and the samples were affected by seawater intrusion during early peat accumulation.Although the minerals primarily consist of kaolinite,illite,pyrite,and small amounts of quartz,calcite and anatase,REY are correlated with ash yield,SiO2,and Al_(2)O_(3),revealing that the REY mainly occur in aluminosilicate minerals,especially kaolinite and illite.Meanwhile,REY positively relate to P_(2)O_(5) and Zr,which may exist in phosphate-containing minerals or zircon.Furthermore,most samples in the K1a coal or ash do not reach the cut-off grade for the beneficial recovery of REY.With the exception of central Guizhou,southwestern Chongqing,and the junction of western Guizhou and northeastern Yunnan,the REY content in coals from southwestern China are high,and its by-products are suitable as potential REY sources. | Qingfeng LU Shenjun QIN Hongyang BAI Wenfeng WANG De’e QI Xin HE Bofei ZHANG | 2023 | Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,1: | 0 |
| 4 | Downregulation of metabotropic glutamate receptors mGluR5 and glutamate transporter EAAC1 in the myenteric plexus of the diabetic rat ileum显示文摘Objective: To study the morphologic abnormalities of the myenteric plexus in diabetic rats and to explore the mechanism of their effect on gastrointestinal motility. Methods: Forty rats were randomly divided into a diabetic group and a control group, Gastric emptying and small intestine transit rates were measured and histologic and molecular changes in glutamatergic nerves in the ileal myenteric plexus were observed, mGluR5 receptor and EAAC1 transporter changes in the diabetic rats were studied using fluorescence immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Results:Eighteen weeks after the establishment of the diabetic rats model, gastric emptying and small intestine transit rates were found to be significantly delayed in the diabetic group when compared with the control group. The density of glutamatergic ganglia and neurons in the ileal myenterie plexus were significantly decreased in the diabetic group when compared with control group(P < 0.05) and the mGluR5 receptors and EAAC1 transporters were downregulated in the diabetic rats(P < 0.05). | 5 | Gain-Scheduling H_∞ Autopilot Design for Tactical Missiles with Variable-Swept Wings显示文摘A new approach to gain-scheduling of H∞controllers is proposed for a cruise missile with variableswept wings( VSW) in bank-to-turn( BTT) mode. A nonlinear dynamic model is established and anticipant performance criterions are given at first. For the selected operating points,feedback robust controllers of threechannels are designed independently to restrain cross-channel couple disturbances and aerodynamic perturbations. Then,the sweepback and Ma number are selected to schedule controller gains iteratively to ensure all closed-loop poles locating inside the desired region. The proposed method here attempts to extend the performance of initial design obtained for a single arbitrary point to the whole linearized domain while maintaining the expected stability over the entire range of sweepback and full flight envelope. Some time-domain analysis procedures based on the proposed method are carried out and assessed,while the performance of tracking and robustness to aerodynamic perturbations in different situations are contrasted by some nonlinear simulations. | 7 | Recrystallization Behavior of the New Ni-Co-Based Superalloy with Fusion Structure Produced by Electron Beam Smelting Layered Solidification Technology显示文摘The new Ni-Co-based superalloy featuring a'fusion structure'was produced utilizing electron beam smelting layered solidification technology(EBSL).Experimental examination of hot compression deformation with varied settings for EBSL and conventional duplex process melting Ni-Co superalloys was performed.As per the study,EBSL-Ni-Co superalloys exhibited enhanced recrystallization susceptibility during hot deformation.Furthermore,elevating deformation temperature,lowering strain rate,and augmenting strain collectively contribute to enlarging the volume fraction of dynamically recrystallized grains.Aberrant growth of grains occurred when the deformation temperature equaledγ′sub-solvus temperature and the strain rate was slower.Moreover,exceeding theγ′solvus temperature during deformation significantly increases the particle size of dynamic recrystallization(DRX)grains.Theγ′phase can effectively modulate the DRX grain size through the pegging effect.Additionally,it was revealed that the presence of the fusion structure aids in the generation of continuous dynamic recrystallization,discontinuous dynamic recrystallization,and twinning-induced dynamic recrystallization while the alloy undergoes hot deformation.This mechanism promotes DRX granule formation and permits complete recrystallization.Ultimately,the fusion structure was identified as playing a catalytic role in the dynamic recrystallization process of the new Ni-Co superalloy. | Hongyang Cui Yi Tan Rusheng Bai Lidan Ning Chuanyong Cui Xiaogang You Pengting Li | 2023 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,12: | 0 |
| 8 | Bioinspired Polarized Skylight Orientation Determination Artificial Neural Network显示文摘This paper proposes an artificial neural network to determine orientation using polarized skylight. This neural network has specific dilated convolution, which can extract light intensity information of different polarization directions. Then, the degree of polarization (DOP) and angle of polarization (AOP) are directly extracted in the network. In addition, the exponential function encoding of orientation is designed as the network output, which can better reflect the insect’s encoding of polarization information and improve the accuracy of orientation determination.
