| 1 | Smart Techniques for LULC Micro Class Classification Using Landsat8 Imagery显示文摘Wheat species play important role in the price of products and wheat production estimation.There are several mathematical models used for the estimation of the wheat crop but these models are implemented without considering the wheat species which is an important independent variable.The task of wheat species identification is challenging both for human experts as well as for computer vision-based solutions.With the use of satellite remote sensing,it is possible to identify and monitor wheat species on a large scale at any stage of the crop life cycle.In this work,nine popular wheat species are identified by using Landsat8 operational land imager(OLI)and thermal infrared sensor(TIRS)data.Two thousand samples of eachwheat crop species are acquired every fifteen days with a temporal resolution of ten multispectral bands(band two to band eleven).This study employs random forest(RF),artificial neural network,support vector machine,Naive Bayes,and logistic regression for nine types of wheat classification.In addition,deep neural networks are also developed.Experimental results indicate that RF shows the best performance of 91%accuracy while DNN obtains a 90.2%accuracy.Results suggest that remotely sensed data can be used in wheat type estimation and to improve the performance of the mathematical models. | Mutiullah Jamil Hafeez ul Rehman SaleemUllah Imran Ashraf Saqib Ubaid | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3: | 0 |
| 2 | Image-Based Automatic Energy Meter Reading Using Deep Learning显示文摘We propose to perform an image-based framework for electrical energy meter reading.Our aim is to extract the image region that depicts the digits and then recognize them to record the consumed units.Combining the readings of serial numbers and energy meter units,an automatic billing system using the Internet of Things and a graphical user interface is deployable in a real-time setup.However,such region extraction and character recognition become challenging due to image variations caused by several factors such as partial occlusion due to dust on the meter display,orientation and scale variations caused by camera positioning,and non-uniform illumination caused by shades.To this end,our work evaluates and compares the stateof-the art deep learning algorithm You Only Look Once(YOLO)along with traditional handcrafted features for text extraction and recognition.Our image dataset contains 10,000 images of electrical energymeters and is further expanded by data augmentation such as in-plane rotation and scaling tomake the deep learning algorithms robust to these image variations.For training and evaluation,the image dataset is annotated to produce the ground truth of all the images.Consequently,YOLO achieves superior performance over the traditional handcrafted features with an average recognition rate of 98%for all the digits.It proves to be robust against the mentioned image variations compared with the traditional handcrafted features.Our proposed method can be highly instrumental in reducing the time and effort involved in the currentmeter reading,where workers visit door to door,take images ofmeters and manually extract readings from these images. | Muhammad Imran Hafeez Anwar Muhammad Tufail Abdullah Khan Murad Khan Dzati Athiar Ramli | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1: | 0 |
| 3 | Prognostic value of hematological parameters in older adult patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing coronary intervention:a single centre prospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease is a significant contributor to the disease burden in geriatric patients.Underlying systemic inflammation is thought to be the cause of age-related changes in the bone marrow and a major risk factor for atherosclerosis.The purpose of the study was to assess the accuracy of these hematological biomarkers in predicting 30-day mortality in older patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).METHODS This was a prospective observational study of 601 older adult patients(age>60 years)with ACS who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention over two years(2017-2019).The relationship between baseline hematological parameters and mortality was assessed during the 30-day follow-up.Logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis were done to evaluate for diagnostic accuracy of various hematological parameters.RESULTS The mean age of presentation was 77±17 years.The mean neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)value was 5.07±4.90 and the mean platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)value was 108.65±85.82.On univariate analysis,total leucocyte count[odds ratio(OR)=0.85,P=0.021],hematocrit(OR=0.91,P=0.018),NLR(OR=1.10,P=0.001)and PLR(OR=1.05,P=0.001)were associated with mortality.On receiver operating characteristic curve analysis,NLR predicted mortality with 68.1%and PLR with 65.7%accuracy.On multivariate analysis,NLR(OR=1.096,95%CI:1.006-1.15,P=0.035)was an independent predictor of 30-day mortality.CONCLUSIONS For the risk classification of all elderly ACS patients,we highly advise using NLR rather than the total white blood cell count. | Umar Hafiz Khan Murtaza Rashid Pala Imran Hafeez Afshan Shabir Amrit Dhar Hilal Ahmad Rather | 2023 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2023,20,8: | 0 |
| 4 | In vitro inhibitory analysis of consensus siRNAs against NS3 gene of hepatitis C virus 1a genotype显示文摘Objective: To explore inhibitory effects of genome-specific, chemically synthesized siRNAs(small interference RNA) against NS3 gene of hepatitis C virus(HCV) 1a genotype in stable Huh-7(human hepatoma) cells as well as against viral replication in serum-inoculated Huh-7 cells. Methods: Stable Huh-7 cells persistently expressing NS3 gene were produced under antibiotic gentamycin(G418) selection. The cell clones resistant to 1 000 μg antibiotic concentration(G418) were picked as stable cell clones. The NS3 gene expression in stable cell clone was confirmed by RT-PCR and Western blotting. siRNA cell cytotoxicity was determined by MTT cell proliferation assay. Stable cell lines were transfected with sequence specific siRNAs and their inhibitory effects were determined by RT-PCR, real-time PCR and Western blotting. The viral replication inhibition by siRNAs in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells was determined by real-time PCR. Results: RT-PCR and Western blot analysis confirmed NS3 gene and protein expression in stable cell lines on day 10, 20 and 30 post transfection. MTT cell proliferation assay revealed that at most concentrated dose tested(50 nmol/L), siRNA had no cytotoxic effects on Huh-7 cells and cell proliferation remained unaffected. As demonstrated by the siRNA time-dependent inhibitory analysis, siRNA NS3-is44 showed maximum inhibition of NS3 gene in stable Huh-7 cell clones at 24(80%, P=0.013) and 48 h(75%, P=0.002) post transfection. The impact of siRNAs on virus replication in serum inoculated Huh-7 cells also demonstrated significant decrease in viral copy number, where siRNA NS3-is44 exhibited 70%(P<0.05) viral RNA reduction as compared to NS3-is33, which showed a 64%(P<0.05) decrease in viral copy number. siRNA synergism(NS3-is33 + NS3-is44) decreased viral load by 84%(P<0.05) as compared to individual inhibition by each siRNA(i.e., 64%–70%(P<0.05) in serum-inoculated cells. Synthetic siRNAs mixture(NS5Bis88 + NS3-is33) targeting different region of HCV genome(NS5B and NS3) also decreased HCV viral load by 85%(P< 0.05) as compared to siRNA inhibitory effects alone(70% and 64% respectively, P<0.05). Conclusions: siRNAs directed against NS3 gene significantly decreased m RNA and protein expression in stable cell clones. Viral replication was also vividly decreased in serum infected Huh-7 cells. | 5 | Molecular dynamics simulation of nanoscale surface diffusion of heterogeneous adatoms clusters显示文摘Molecular dynamics simulation employing the embedded atom method potential is utilized to investigate nanoscale surface diffusion mechanisms of binary heterogeneous adatoms clusters at 300 K, 500 K, and 700 K. Surface diffusion of heterogeneous adatoms clusters can be vital for the binary island growth on the surface and can be useful for the formation of alloy-based thin film surface through atomic exchange process. The results of the diffusion process show that at 300 K, the diffusion of small adatoms clusters shows hopping, sliding, and shear motion; whereas for large adatoms clusters(hexamer and above), the diffusion is negligible. At 500 K, small adatoms clusters, i.e., dimer, show almost all possible diffusion mechanisms including the atomic exchange process; however no such exchange is observed for adatoms clusters greater than dimer. At 700 K, the exchange mechanism dominates for all types of clusters, where Zr adatoms show maximum tendency and Ag adatoms show minimum or no tendency toward the exchange process. Separation and recombination of one or more adatoms are also observed at 500 K and 700 K. The Ag adatoms also occupy pop-up positions over the adatoms clusters for short intervals.
