| 6 | Elderly patients over 80 years undergoing colorectal cancer resection: Development and validation of a predictive nomogram for survival显示文摘BACKGROUND Surgery remains the primary treatment for localized colorectal cancer(CRC).Improving surgical decision-making for elderly CRC patients necessitates an accurate predictive tool.AIM To build a nomogram to predict the overall survival of elderly patients over 80 years undergoing CRC resection.METHODS Two hundred and ninety-five elderly CRC patients over 80 years undergoing surgery at Singapore General Hospital between 2018 and 2021 were identified from the American College of Surgeons–National Surgical Quality Improvement Program(ACS-NSQIP)database.Prognostic variables were selected using univariate Cox regression,and clinical feature selection was performed by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression.A nomogram for 1-and 3-year overall survival was constructed based on 60%of the study cohort and tested on the remaining 40%.The performance of the nomogram was evaluated using the concordance index(C-index),area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),and calibration plots.Risk groups were stratified using the total risk points derived from the nomogram and the optimal cut-off point.Survival curves were compared between the high-and low-risk groups.RESULTS Eight predictors:Age,Charlson comorbidity index,body mass index,serum albumin level,distant metastasis,emergency surgery,postoperative pneumonia,and postoperative myocardial infarction,were included in the nomogram.The AUC values for the 1-year survival were 0.843 and 0.826 for the training and validation cohorts,respectively.The AUC values for the 3-year survival were 0.788 and 0.750 for the training and validation cohorts,respectively.C-index values of the training cohort(0.845)and validation cohort(0.793)suggested the excellent discriminative ability of the nomogram.Calibration curves demonstrated a good consistency between the predictions and actual observations of overall survival in both training and validation cohorts.A significant difference in overall survival was seen between elderly patients stratified into low-and high-risk groups(P<0.001).CONCLUSION We constructed and validated a nomogram predicting 1-and 3-year survival probability in elderly patients over 80 years undergoing CRC resection,thereby facilitating holistic and informed decision-making among these patients. | Aik Yong Chok Yun Zhao Hui Lionel Raphael Chen Ivan En-Howe Tan Desmond Han Wen Chew Yue Zhao Marianne Kit Har Au Emile John Kwong Wei Tan | 2023 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2023，15，5： | 0 |

| 8 | Customer-Value Creation in Self-service Technologies (SSTs) in the Tourism Industry显示文摘This paper explores and validates the process of customer value creation in self-service technologies(SSTs)in the context of the tourism industry.As the self-technology has been gradually advanced,its adoption in the tourism industry has brought many changes.A new trend of self-service technologies has helped service firms to save the labor costs and customers’waiting time for transactions.The purpose of this study is to confirm an applicability and a design of the original model of SSTs and explore the connection between SSTs and creation of value perception through a confirmatory factor analysis in the context of the tourism industry.Furthermore,the results of the online survey questionnaire from 234 responses in the United States and South Korea are explained in this study.The results of this study concluded that five statistically important factors are related to customers’motivations to use SSTs and enable customers to interact with SSTs as“SST location and capacity planning”,“SST service quality”,“motivations to use SST”,“SST design”,and“SST encounter”.These factors may imply an important meaning to better understand about customer value during the adoption of SSTs in the tourism industry.Tourism firms may use the results of this study to effectively enhance how customers perceive value about their products and services during the usage of SSTs.This will help tourism firms’efficiencies on the adoption of SSTs for their business plans and help them remain profitable in the competitive market. | Moonah Jeong Ivan Wen | 2022 | Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management2022，10，3： | 0 |
| 9 | High damping in Fe-Ga-La alloys:Phenomenological model for magneto-mechanical hysteresis damping and experiment显示文摘Ferromagnetic high damping(FHA)alloys with a wide temperature range from-150℃to 300℃have unique application value in extreme environments.In the present work,the damping behaviors of Fe-21 Ga-xLa(x=0.12 wt.%,0.24 wt.%,0.47 wt.%,1.18 wt.%,and 2.33 wt.%La)alloys have been studied in detail,and a new phenomenological model has been proposed.With the increase of La content,the Laves phase(LaGa_(2))in the matrix increases gradually,and the resistance opposing the domain movement increases as well.Combined with the results of synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction,neutron diffraction,and magnetic domain observation,the resistance mainly comes from three parts:the average stress related to the lattice distortion of the matrix,the average stress related to the increasing area energy of domain walls(DWs),and the ave rage stress related to the increasing demagnetization energy induced by the Laves phase.Different from the traditional method of reducing internal stress through annealing to improve the damping capacity,the proper internal stress barriers are necessary to Barkhausen jumps to dissipate energy.Therefore,proper doping to balance resistance and mobility of DWs is a reliable way to improve damping capacity.Meanwhile,for Fe-Al and Fe-Cr based Alloys,the new model also has a good fitting effect.This study provides a theoretical and experimental reference for improving the functional properties of ferromagnetic alloys. | Meng Sun Anatoly Balagurov Ivan Bobrikov Xianping Wang Wen Wen Igor S.Golovin Qianfeng Fang | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021，，13： | 0 |
