1Membrane fouling reduction through electrochemically regulating flocs aggregation in an electro-coagulation membrane reactor显示文摘Coupling coagulation and applied electric field is an efficient method to regulate cake layer porosity and hydrophilicity for alleviating ultrafiltration membrane(UF) fouling. However,the Al/Fe flocs aggregation behavior are induced from electric field and determine the cake layer structure, which has not been studied comparatively yet. Herein, the anti-fouling performance in an efficient electro-coagulation membrane reactor(ECMR, in which UF membrane modules are placed between electrodes) was investigated with Al/Fe anode and various electrochemical parameters from the viewpoint of regulating flocs aggregation.Both the cake layers formed from Al and Fe flocs under an electric field were more porous and hydrophilic in comparison with that formed without electric fields, resulting in an enhanced water flux under higher electric field strength. Comparing with Fe flocs, Al flocs had a faster growth rate and larger size, facilitating membrane pore block resistant, which was more pronounced in a higher current density. Furthermore, the cake layer formed from Al flocs was more porous than that formed from Fe flocs. Therefore, the anti-fouling performance of ECMR with Al anode was superior to that of ECMR with Fe anode. 2Arabidopsis transcription factor TCP4 represses chlorophyll biosynthesis to prevent petal greening显示文摘Green petals pose a challenge for pollinators to distinguish flowers from leaves,but they are valuable as a specialty flower trait.However,little is understood about the molecular mechanisms that underlie the development of green petals.Here,we report that CINCINNATA(CIN)-like TEOSINTE BRANCHED 1/CYCLOIDEA/PCF(TCP)proteins play key roles in the control of petal color.The septuple tcp2/3/4/5/10/13/17 mutant produced flowers with green petals due to chlorophyll accumulation.Expression of TCP4 complemented the petal phenotype of tcp2/3/4/5/10/13/17.We found that chloroplasts were converted into leucoplasts in the distal parts of wild-type petals but not in the proximal parts during flower development,whereas plastid conversion was compromised in the distal parts of tcp2/3/4/5/10/13/17 petals.TCP4 and most CIN-like TCPs were predominantly expressed in distal petal regions,consistent with the green–white pattern in wild-type petals and the petal greening observed in the distal parts of tcp2/3/4/5/10/13/17 petals.RNA-sequencing data revealed that most chlorophyll biosynthesis genes were downregulated in the white distal parts of wild-type petals,but these genes had elevated expression in the distal green parts of tcp2/3/4/5/10/13/17 petals and the green proximal parts of wild-type petals.We revealed that TCP4 repressed chlorophyll biosynthesis by directly binding to the promoters of PROTOCHLOROPHYLLIDE REDUCTASE(PORB),DIVINYL REDUCTASE(DVR),and SUPPRESSOR OF OVEREXPRESSION OF CO 1(SOC1),which are known to promote petal greening.We found that the conversion of chloroplasts to leucoplasts and the green coloration in the proximal parts of petals appeared to be conserved among plant species.Our findings uncover a major molecular mechanism that underpins the formation of petal color patterns and provide a foundation for the breeding of plants with green flowers.Xinhui Zheng Jingqiu Lan Hao Yu Jingzhe Zhang Yi Zhang Yongmei Qin Xiao-Dong Su Genji Qin 2022Plant Communications2022,3,4:4
3Real-time crash prediction on freeways using data mining and emerging techniques显示文摘Recent advances in intelligent transportation system allow traffic safety studies to extend from historic data-based analyses to real-time applications. The study presents a new method to predict crash likelihood with traffic data collected by discrete loop detectors as well as the web-crawl weather data. Matched case–control method and support vector machines(SVMs) technique were employed to identify the risk status. The adaptive synthetic over-sampling technique was applied to solve the imbalanced dataset issues. Random forest technique was applied to select the contributing factors and avoid the over-fitting issues. The results indicate that the SVMs classifier could successfully classify 76.32% of the crashes on the test dataset and 87.52% of the crashes on the overall dataset,which were relatively satisfactory compared with the results of the previous studies. Compared with the SVMs classifier without the data, the SVMs classifier with the web-crawl weather data increased the crash prediction1.72%, showing the potential value of the massive web weather data. 4Identification of the candidate genes associated with cellular rejection in pig-to-human xenotransplantation显示文摘To identify the genes associated with cellular rejection in pig-to-human xenotransplantation, the suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) was used in screening the up-regulated genes from a co-culture of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and porcine vascular endothelial cell line PIEC. The up-regulated cDNAs were cloned into pGEM-T Easy vector and then sequenced. Nucleic acid homology searches were performed using the BLAST program. A subtracted cDNA library including about 300 clones with the expected up-regulated genes was obtained. Twenty-four of these clones were analyzed by sequencing and homology comparison was made. These clones represent the genes of human perforin (PRF1), proteasome, lymphocyte specific interferon regulatory factor/interferon regulatory factor 4 (LSIRF/IRF 4), muscleblind-like (MBNL) protein and a porcine expressed sequence tag (EST) which has 81% homology with human oxidative-stress responsive 1 (OSR 1). 5Establishment of a rhesus monkey model of middle cerebral artery ischemia and reperfusion using a microcatheter embolization method显示文摘Nonhuman primates are closest to humans in terms of lineage,and middle cerebral artery ischemia/reperfusion responses of nonhuman primates are most similar to ischemic stroke in humans.Therefore,nonhuman primates could be utilized to simulate the process of ischemic stroke in the human.Few studies,however,have reported the use of endovascular technology to establish a rhesus monkey stroke model.In the present study,seven adult,male,rhesus monkeys were selected and,following anesthesia,a microcatheter was inserted into one side of the middle cerebral artery via the femoral artery to block blood flow,thereby resulting in middle cerebral artery occlusion.After 2 hours,the microcatheter was withdrawn to restore the middle cerebral artery blood flow and to establish ischemia/reperfusion.Results from angiography and magnetic resonance angiography confirmed occlusion and reopening of the middle cerebral artery.Magnetic resonance imaging revealed the existence of ischemic brain lesions,and neurological examination showed sustained functional deficits following surgery.The rhesus monkey middle cerebral artery ischemia/reperfusion models established by microcatheter embolization had the advantage of non-craniotomy invasion and reproducibility.The scope and degree of ischemic damage using this model was controllable.Therefore,this nonhuman primate model is an ideal model for cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.Jie Yang Jian Guo Hongbo Zheng Muke Zhou Li He Wenying Cao Li Xiao Jiachuan Duan Qiyong Gong Xiaoqi Huang Hongxia Li Li Wang Jingqiu Cheng 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,15:2

7Xenozoonoses in xenotransplantation显示文摘Pig to human xenotransplantation is one of the possible ways to solve the problem of organ shortage, but the potential risk of xenozoonoses hinders the progress of xenotransplantation. Among pathogens that might cause xenozoonoses, porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) is undoubtedly the most noticeable. Current researches show that PERV exists in pigs' genomes and is able to express in multiple tissues and organs in pigs. Other experiments also show that PERV could successfully infect several human cell lines in vitro and could infect SCID mice through pig to mouse islet transplantation. The discussion and research on the risk of PERV is one of the hottest topics in current xenotransplantation, but the question of whether PERV will transmit to human through xenotransplantation has not been answered due to the lack of suitable animal models. 8Activation of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 5 (STAT5) in Splenocyte Proliferation of Asthma Mice Induced by Ovalbumin显示文摘To investigate the role of signal transducer and transcriptional activator 5 (STAT5) activated in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced splenocyte proliferation of asthma mice, an asthma mouse model was set up by intraperitoneal injection and aspiration of OVA with nebulizer. The proliferation of splenocytes isolated from the asthma mice was detected by [3H] thymidine incorporation. The phosphorytation of STAT5 was examined by Western blotting and STAT5-DNA binding was measured by electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). OVA could pronouncedly induce the splenocyte proliferation of asthma mice in a dose-dependent manner compared with control groups. Phosphorylation of STAT5 and STAT5-DNA binding were observed in splenocytes from asthma mice induced by OVA at 1 h and 3 h. These results indicated that STAT5 signal pathway played an important role in lymphocyte proliferation of asthma mice induced by OVA. 20Loss-of-function of sox3 causes follicle development retardation and reduces fecundity in zebrafish显示文摘Folliculogenesis is essential for production of female gametes in vertebrates.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying follicle development,particularly apoptosis regulation in ovary,remain elusive.Here,we gen erated sox3 knockout zebrafish lines using CRISPR/Cas9.sox3 knockout led to follicle development retardation and a reduced fecundity in females.Comparative analysis of transcriptome between sox3^-/-and wild-type ovaries revealed that Sox3 was invoIved in pathways of ovarian steroidogenesis and apoptosis.Knockout of sox3 promoted follicle apoptosis and obvious apoptosis signals were detected in somatic cells of stages III and IV follicles of sox3^-/-ovaries.Moreover,Sox3 can bind to and activate the promoter of cyp19a1a.Up-regulation of Cyp19a1a expression promoted 17β-estradiol synthesis,which inhibited apoptosis in follicle development.Thus,Sox3 functions as a regulator of Cyp19a1a expression,via 17β-E2 linking apoptosis suppression,which is implicated in improving female fecundity.Qiang Hong Cong Li Ruhong Ying Heming Lin Jingqiu Li Yu Zhao Hanhua Cheng Rongjia Zhou 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,5:1
