1Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles and their therapeutic activities显示文摘Nanotechnologies have been successfully applied to the treatment of various diseases.Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (PENs) are expected to become effective therapeutic modalities for treating disease or in drug-delivery. PENs are minimally cytotoxic to healthy tissues, with which they show excellent biocompatibility, and are biased towards tumors by targeting specific tissues through special endocytosis mechanisms. 11Effect of Korean Magnolia obovata Extract on Platelet-Derived Growth Factor-Induced Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of Korean Magnolia obovata crude extract(KME)on plateletderived growth factor(PDGF)-BB-induced proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs).Methods:KME composition was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).VSMCs were isolated from the aorta of a Sprague-Dawley rat,incubated in serum free-Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium in the presence or absence of KME(10,30,100,and 300(xg/mL),then further treated with PDGF-BB(10 ng/mL).VSMC proliferation was detected using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay and VSMC migration was determined using the Boyden chamber and scratch wound healing assays.Western blot analysis was used to detect phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1 and 2(p-ERK1/2),protein kinase B(p-Akt),and stress-activated protein kinase/c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(p-SAPK/JNK).The antimigration and proliferation effects of KME were tested using aortic sprout outgrowth.Results:The HPLC analysis identified honokiol(0.45 mg/g)and magnolol(0.34 mg/g)as the major components of KME.KME(30,100,and 300μg/m L)significantly decreased the proliferation and migration of PDGF-BB-stimulated(10 ng/mL)VSMCs and the PDGF-BB-induced phosphorylation of EKR1/2,Akt,and SAPK/JNK(P<0.05).Furthermore,PDGF-BBinduced VSMCs treated with 300μg/m L of KME showed reduction in aortic sprout outgrowth.Conclusion:KME could inhibit abnormal proliferation and migration of VSMCs by down-regulating the phosphorylation of EKR1/2 and Akt.Thus,KME might be a functional food for preventing vascular disorders.Hyunjhung Jhun Suji Baek Jinwoo Kim Kang-Pa Lee Hun-Young Park Won-Hwan Park Kiwon Lim Jisu Kim 2020Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,9:1

17Selective ischemic-hemisphere targeting Ginkgolide B liposomes with improved solubility and therapeutic efficacy for cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(CI/RI)remains the main cause of disability and death in stroke patients due to lack of effective therapeutic strategies.One of the main issues related to CI/RI treatment is the presence of the blood-brain barrier(BBB),which affects the intracerebral delivery of drugs.Ginkgolide B(GB),a major bioactive component in commercially available products of Ginkgo biloba,has been shown significance in CI/RI treatment by regulating inflammatory pathways,oxidative damage,and metabolic disturbance,and seems to be a candidate for stroke recovery.However,limited by its poor hydrophilicity and lipophilicity,the development of GB preparations with good solubility,stability,and the ability to cross the BBB remains a challenge.Herein,we propose a combinatorial strategy by conjugating GB with highly lipophilic docosahexaenoic acid(DHA)to obtain a covalent complex GB-DHA,which can not only enhance the pharmacological effect of GB,but can also be encapsulated in liposomes stably.The amount of finally constructed Lipo@GB-DHA targeting to ischemic hemisphere was validated 2.2 times that of free solution in middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)rats.Compared to the marketed ginkgolide injection,Lipo@GB-DHA significantly reduced infarct volume with better neurobehavioral recovery in MCAO rats after being intravenously administered both at 2 h and 6 h post-reperfusion.Low levels of reactive oxygen species(ROS)and high neuron survival in vitro was maintained via Lipo@GB-DHA treatment,while microglia in the ischemic brain were polarized from the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype to the tissue-repairing M2 phenotype,which modulate neuroinflammatory and angiogenesis.In addition,Lipo@GB-DHA inhibited neuronal apoptosis via regulating the apoptotic pathway and maintained homeostasis by activating the autophagy pathway.Thus,transforming GB into a lipophilic complex and loading it into liposomes provides a promising nanomedicine strategy with excellent CI/RI therapeutic efficacy and industrialization prospects.Yang Li Miaomiao Zhang Shiyi Li Longlong Zhang Jisu Kim Qiujun Qiu Weigen Lu Jianxin Wang 2023Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2023,18,2:1

20High‑Defect‑Density Graphite for Superior‑Performance Aluminum‑Ion Batteries with Ultra‑Fast Charging and Stable Long Life显示文摘Rechargeable aluminum-ion batteries(AIBs)are a new generation of low-cost and large-scale electrical energy storage systems.However,AIBs suffer from a lack of reliable cathode materials with insufficient intercalation sites,poor ion-conducting channels,and poor diffusion dynamics of large chloroaluminate anions(AlCl4−and Al2Cl7−).To address these issues,surfacemodified graphitic carbon materials[i.e.,acidtreated expanded graphite(AEG)and base-etched graphite(BEG)]are developed as novel cathode materials for ultra-fast chargeable AIBs.AEG has more turbostratically ordered structure covered with abundant micro-to nano-sized pores on the surface structure and expanded interlayer distance(d002=0.3371 nm)realized by surface treatment of pristine graphite with acidic media,which can be accelerated the diffusion dynamics and efficient AlCl4−ions(de)-intercalation kinetics.The AIB system employing AEG exhibits a specific capacity of 88.6 mAh g^(−1)(4 A g^(−1))and~80 mAh g^(−1) at an ultra-high current rate of 10 A g^(−1)(~99.1%over 10,000 cycles).BEG treated with KOH solution possesses the turbostratically disordered structure with high density of defective sites and largely expanded d-spacing(d002=0.3384 nm)for attracting and uptaking more AlCl4−ions with relatively shorter penetration depth.Impressively,the AIB system based on the BEG cathode delivers a high specific capacity of 110 mAh g^(−1)(4 A g^(−1))and~91 mAh g^(−1)(~99.9%over 10,000 cycles at 10 A g^(−1)).Moreover,the BEG cell has high energy and power densities of 247 Wh kg^(−1) and 44.5 kW kg^(−1).This performance is one of the best among the AIB graphitic carbon materials reported for chloroaluminate anions storage performance.This finding provides great significance for the further development of rechargeable AIBs with high energy,high power density,and exceptionally long life.Jisu Kim Michael Ruby Raj Gibaek Lee 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11:0
