1Insight into atmospheric corrosion evolution of mild steel in a simulated coastal atmosphere显示文摘The corrosion behavior of mild steel in a simulated coastal atmosphere environment has been investigated by the indoor accelerated wet/dry cyclic corrosion acceleration test(CCT),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical measurements.During the CCT test of 60 cycles,the evolution of logarithmic(corrosion rate)vs.logarithmic(CCT cycles)presents a turning point at the 5th cycle,presenting a tendency to increase first and then decrease to gradually stabilize as the CCT cycle prolonged.Before the 5th cycle,γ-FeOOH andβ-FeOOH and Fe_(3)O_(4)were detected,respectively.And then,α-FeOOH as a new chemical composition was detected in the subsequent corrosion cycles.It is found that,after long term corrosion,the rust separated into a relatively dense inner layer rich withα-FeOOH and a loose outer layer rich withγ-FeOOH,both of which have poor electrical conductivity.The rapid increase of corrosion rate in the early stage since reducible corrosion products are involved in the reduction process of the cathode which promotes the dissolution of the anodic metal substrate.Afterward,as the rust layer thickens,the resistance of the rust increases,and the aggressive ions diffusion is blocked,gradually suppressing the electrochemical corrosion process.At last,when the composition and distribution of the rust layer remain stable,the corrosion presents a fluctuating speed around a certain value during the cracking and self-repairing process of the rust layer.Yue Wang Xin Mu Junhua Dong Aniefiok Joseph Umoh Wei Ke 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,17:7
2Effect of glycine addition on the in-vitro corrosion behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy in Hank’s solution显示文摘This study reports on the effect of the addition of Glycine to Hank’s solution on the in-vitro corrosion behavior of AZ31 magnesium(Mg)alloy at 37℃and a pH of 7.4 studied by using potentiodynamic polarization(PDP),hydrogen collecting techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)in combination with surface characterization techniques such as optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis(XPS).The results reveal that adsorption of glycine initially subdues the dissolution of AZ31 Mg alloy while in long run it enhances the dissolution of the alloy due to the commencement of the chelation effect of glycine with Ca^(2+) released from hydroxyapatite.The chelation of glycine with Ca^(2+) induces the formation of cracks in the surface film which further promotes the dissolution of AZ31 Mg alloy thereby forming a porous corrosion products layer on the surface of the alloy.As a result,both the continuous dissolution of AZ31 magnesium alloy and the hydrogen evolution rate(HER)are enhanced with increasing the immersion time in Hank’s solution.Durga Bhakta Pokharel Liping Wu Junhua Dong Amar Prasad Yadav Dhruba Babu Subedi Madhusudan Dhakal Lin Zha Xin Mu Aniefiok Joseph Umoh Wei Ke 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,22:4
3Blockade of Endogenous Angiotensin-(1–7) in Hypothalamic Paraventricular Nucleus Attenuates High Salt-Induced Sympathoexcitation and Hypertension显示文摘Angiotensin(Ang)-(1–7) is an important biologically-active peptide of the renin-angiotensin system. This study was designed to determine whether inhibition of Ang-(1–7) in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus(PVN) attenuates sympathetic activity and elevates blood pressure by modulating pro-inflammatory cytokines(PICs)and oxidative stress in the PVN in salt-induced hypertension. Rats were fed either a high-salt(8% NaCl) or a normal salt diet(0.3% NaCl) for 10 weeks, followed by bilateral microinjections of the Ang-(1–7) antagonist A-779 or vehicle into the PVN. We found that the mean arterial pressure(MAP), renal sympathetic nerve activity(RSNA), and plasma norepinephrine(NE) were significantly increased in salt-induced hypertensive rats. The high-salt diet also resulted in higher levels of the PICs interleukin-6, interleukin-1 beta, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and monocyte chemotactic protein-1, as well as higher gp91 phoxexpression and superoxide production in the PVN. Microinjection of A-779(3 nmol/50 nL) into the bilateral PVN of hypertensive rats not only attenuated MAP, RSNA, and NE, but also decreased the PICs and oxidative stress in the PVN. 10Aorto-right atrial fistula: Late complication of tricuspid valve infective endocarditis显示文摘Abnormal connections between the ascending aortaand the cardiac chambers are rare, especially in thecontext of right-sided infective endocarditis(IE). Trans-thoracic echocardiography(TTE) with color-flow Dop-pler, transesophageal echocardiography(TEE), or bothmay be required for diagnosis. We present the case ofa woman admitted with right-sided heart failure(HF)symptoms. She had a previous history of tricuspid valveIE 30 years ago. TTE and TEE revealed an aorto-rightatrium fistula located just under the non-coronary cuspinto the right atrium at the level of the previously af-fected tricuspid valve. The Patient refused surgery andwas discharged home on HF medications. She has beenstable for the last 3 years.
