1Nitrogen Deposition and Its Spatial Pattern in Main Forest Ecosystems along North-South Transect of Eastern China显示文摘A continuous three-year observation(from May 2008 to April 2011)was conducted to characterize the spatial variation of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN)deposition at eight main forest ecosystems along the north-south transect of eastern China(NSTEC).The results show that both throughfall DIN deposition and bulk DIN deposition increase from north to south along the NSTEC.Throughfall DIN deposition varies greatly from 2.7 kg N/(ha·yr)to 33.0 kg N/(ha·yr),with an average of 10.6 kg N/(ha·yr),and bulk DIN deposition ranges from 4.1 kg N/(ha·yr)to 25.4 kg N/(ha·yr),with an average of 9.8 kg N/(ha·yr).NH4+-N is the dominant form of DIN deposition at most sampling sites.Additionally,the spatial variation of DIN deposition is controlled mainly by precipitation.Moreover,in the northern part of the NSTEC,bulk DIN deposition is 17%higher than throughfall DIN deposition,whereas the trend is opposite in the southern part of the NSTEC.The results demonstrate that DIN deposition would likely threaten the forest ecosystems along the NSTEC,compared with the critical loads(CL)of N deposition,and DIN deposition in this region is mostly controlled by agricultural activities rather than industrial activities or transportation.ZHAN Xiaoyun YU Guirui HE Nianpeng FANG Huajun JIA Bingrui ZHOU Mei WANG Chuankuan ZHANG Junhui ZHAO Guangdong WANG Silong LIU Yunfen YAN Junhua 2014Chinese Geographical Science2014,24,2:10

3Radiomics-based predictive risk score: A scoring system for preoperatively predicting risk of lymph node metastasis in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective: To develop and validate a radiomics-based predictive risk score(RPRS) for preoperative prediction of lymph node(LN) metastasis in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 717 who underwent surgical resection for primary NSCLC with systematic mediastinal lymphadenectomy from October 2007 to July 2016. By using the method of radiomics analysis, 591 computed tomography(CT)-based radiomics features were extracted, and the radiomics-based classifier was constructed. Then, using multivariable logistic regression analysis, a weighted score RPRS was derived to identify LN metastasis. Apparent prediction performance of RPRS was assessed with its calibration,discrimination, and clinical usefulness.Results: The radiomics-based classifier was constructed, which consisted of 13 selected radiomics features.Multivariate models demonstrated that radiomics-based classifier, age group, tumor diameter, tumor location, and CT-based LN status were independent predictors. When we assigned the corresponding score to each variable,patients with RPRSs of 0-3, 4-5, 6, 7-8, and 9 had distinctly very low(0%-20%), low(21%-40%), intermediate(41%-60%), high(61%-80%), and very high(81%-100%) risks of LN involvement, respectively. The developed RPRS showed good discrimination and satisfactory calibration (C-index: 0.785, 95% confidence interval(95% CI):0.780-0.790)Additionally, RPRS outperformed the clinicopathologic-based characteristics model with net reclassification index(NRI) of 0.711(95% CI: 0.555-0.867).Conclusions: The novel clinical scoring system developed as RPRS can serve as an easy-to-use tool to facilitate the preoperatively individualized prediction of LN metastasis in patients with resectable NSCLC. 4Fouling community characteristics in subtropical coastal waters of the southwestern East China Sea显示文摘A fouling study was conducted in coastal waters southwest of the East China Sea between December 2013 and November 2014. A total of 84 species of fouling organisms belonging to 69 genera, 49 families, and 10 phyla were recorded over the entire year. The community composition was dominated by coastal warm-water species belonging to typical subtropical inner bay communities. The prosperous stage of settlement lasted from April to September, and the adhesion strength of the fouling organisms was the highest in summer. Sessile suspension feeders constituted the main core of settlement for the fouling community. Amphibalanus reticulatus was the most dominant and representative species of fouling organism, and other dominant species included Caprella equilibra, Ectopleura crocea, Anthopleura nigrescens, Stylochus ijimai, Spirobranchus kraussii, Crassostrea angulata, Perna viridis, Jassa falcata, Stenothoe valida, Sphaerozius nitidus, and Biflustra grandicella. The individuals in the fouling community showed a mutual dependence or constraint relationship due to competition for settlement space and food, and they exhibited a particular spatiotemporal distribution in accordance with adaptation to environmental factors. Temperature was the most important environmental factor determining the geographic distribution of fouling organisms. The temperature characteristics of species essentially reflect the differences in the fouling community composition in various climate zones. The species number, settlement stage, and settlement rate of fouling organisms are closely related to water temperature. 5Long-time precipitation reduction and nitrogen deposition increase alter soil nitrogen dynamic by influencing soil bacterial communities and functional groups显示文摘The effects of precipitation reduction and nitrogen deposition increase on soil bacterial communities and functions impact soil nitrogen cycling. Seasonal changes could modify the effects of precipitation reduction and nitrogen deposition increase on bacterial communities and functions by changing soil environments and properties. Understanding soil microbial communities and the seasonal response of functions to precipitation reduction and nitrogen deposition increase may be important for the accurate prediction of changes in the soil nitrogen dynamics. Thus, a long-term field simulation experiment of nitrogen deposition increase and throughfall exclusion was established to investigate soil bacterial communities’ response to nitrogen deposition increase and/or precipitation reduction, with no nitrogen deposition increase and no precipation reduction as a control, in a temperate forest. We examined soil bacterial communities(Illumina sequencing) under different treatments during the winter, freezing-thawing cycle periods(FTCs), and growing season. The bacterial functional groups were predicted by the FAPROTAX database. The results showed that nitrogen deposition increase, precipitation reduction, the combined effect of nitrogen deposition increase and precipitation reduction, and seasonal changes significantly altered the soil bacterial community composition.Interestingly, by combining the result of a previous study in which nitrogen deposition increase increased the nitrous oxide flux in the same experimental system, the loss of soil nitrogen was increased by the decrease in denitrification and increase of nitrification bacteria under nitrogen deposition increase,while ammonification bacteria significantly increased and N-fixing bacteria significantly decreased with precipitation reduction compared to the control. In relation to seasonal changes, the aromatic-degrading, cellulolytic, and ureolytic bacteria were lowest during FTCs, which indicated that FTCs might inhibit biodegradation. Nitrification and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria increased with nitrogen deposition increase or precipitation reduction and in FTCs compared to the control or other seasons. The interaction between treatment and season significantly changed the soil bacterial communities and functions. 6A quasi-automated generation control strategy for multiple energy storage systems to optimize low-carbon benefits显示文摘Integrating a battery energy storage system(ESS)with a large wind farm can smooth the intermittent power obtained from the wind farm,but the smoothing function will not be achieved if multiple ESSs are used to smooth the fluctuations in individual wind power plants in a distributed pattern.Therefore,this study focuses on the development of a control strategy to optimize the use of multiple ESSs to accelerate the adoption of wind energy resources.This paper proposes a quasi-automated generation control(QAGC)strategy to coordinate multiple ESSs,which responds to the grid dispatch demand rather than smoothing out the intermittent power from individual wind farms.The aims of QAGC are to ensure that multiple ESSs provide a service that is as balanced as possible,so more wind power systems at various scales can be accepted by the grid,as well maximizing the low-carbon benefits of ESSs.The effectiveness of QAGC is demonstrated by using data from an actual gigawatt scale cluster of wind plants.Gangui YAN Xudong ZHENG Gang MU Junhui LI Yang CUI Yue WANG 2015Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2015,3,1:6
7Warm temperature compromises JA-regulated basal resistance to enhance Magnaporthe oryzae infection in rice显示文摘Changes in global temperatures profoundly affect the occurrence of plant diseases.It is well known that rice blast can easily become epidemic in relatively warm weather.However,the molecular mechanism remains unclear.In this study,we show that enhanced blast development at a warm temperature(22C)compared with the normal growth temperature(28C)is rice plant-determined.Comparative transcriptome analysis revealed that jasmonic acid(JA)biosynthesis and signaling genes in rice could be effectively induced by Magnaporthe oryzae at 28C but not at 22C.Phenotypic analyses of the osaoc1 and osmyc2 mutants,OsCOI1 RNAi lines,and OsMYC2-OE plants further demonstrated that compromised M.oryzaeinduced JA biosynthesis and signaling lead to enhanced blast susceptibility at the warm temperature.Consistent with these results,we found that exogenous application of methyl jasmonate served as an effective strategy for improving blast resistance under the warm environmental conditions.Furthermore,decreased activation of JA signaling resulted in the downregulated expression of some key basal resistance genes at 22C when compared with 28C.Among these affected genes,OsCEBiP(chitin elicitorbinding protein precursor)was found to be directly regulated by OsMYB22 and its interacting protein OsMYC2,a key component of JA signaling,and this contributed to temperature-modulated blast resistance.Taken together,these results suggest that warm temperature compromises basal resistance in rice and enhances M.oryzae infection by reducing JA biosynthesis and signaling,providing potential new strategies for managing rice blast disease under warm climate conditions.Jiehua Qiu Junhui Xie Ya Chen Zhenan Shen Huanbin Shi Naweed I.Naqvi Qian Qian Yan Liang Yanjun Kou 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,4:5

9Generation of Nb-enriched mafic rocks and associated adakitic rocks from the southeastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt:Evidence of crust-mantle interaction显示文摘Melting of subducting oceanic lithosphere and associated melt-mantle interactions in convergent plate margins require specific geodynamic environment that allows the oceanic slab to be abnormally heated.Here we focus on the Early Mesozoic mafic rocks and granite porphyry,which provide insights into slab melting processes associated with final closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean.The granite porphyry samples are calc-alkaline and distinguished by high Sr contents,strong depletion of heavy rare earth elements,resulting in high(La/Yb);and Sr/Y ratios,and negligible Eu anomalies.Based on their high Na_(2)O and Mg O,low K_(2)O contents,positiveε_(Hf)(t)andε_(Nd)(t)and low(^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr)ivalues,we propose that the granite porphyry was likely derived from partial melting of subducting Paleo-Asian oceanic crust.The Nb-enriched mafic rocks are enriched in Rb,Th,U,Pb and K,and depleted in Nb,Ta,Ba,P and Ti,corroborating a subduction-related origin.Their heterogeneous Sr-Nd-Hf-O isotopic compositions and other geochemical features suggest that they were likely derived from partial melting of peridotitic mantle wedge interacted with oceanic slab-derived adakitic melts.Trace element and isotope modeling results and elevated zirconδ^(18)O values suggest variable subducting sediments input into the mantle wedge,dominated by terrigenous sediments.Synthesizing the widely-developed bimodal rock associations,conjugated dikes,thermal metamorphism,tectonic characteristics,paleomagnetic constraints,and paleogeographical evidence along the Solonke-Changchun suture zone,we identify a slab window triggered by slab break-off,which accounts for slab melting and formation of the Nb-enriched mafic rocks and associated adakitic granite porphyry in southeastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt.Yan Jing Wenchun Ge M.Santosh Yu Dong Hao Yang Zheng Ji Junhui Bi Hongying Zhou Dehe Xing 2022Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,2:2

11A cost accounting method of the Li-ion battery energy storage system for frequency regulation considering the effect of life degradation显示文摘The cost of Energy Storage System(ESS)for frequency regulation is difficult to calculate due to battery’s degradation when an ESS is in grid-connected operation.To solve this problem,the influence mechanism of actual operating conditions on the life degradation of Li-ion battery energy storage is analyzed.A control strategy of Li-ion ESS participating in grid frequency regulation is constructed and a cost accounting model for frequency regulation considering the effect of battery life degradation is established.The estimated operating life and annual average cost of the Li-ion ESS under different dead bands and SOC set-points are calculated.The case studies show that the estimated operating life of the Li-ion ESS under the actual operating condition differs significantly from the nominal life provided by the manufacturer under the standard condition and the full discharge mode.This paper provides an accurate costing method for the ESS participating in grid frequency regulation to help the promotion of the ESS to participate in the ancillary service market.Gangui Yan Dongyuan Liu Junhui Li Gang Mu 2018Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems2018,3,1:2

15A Prototype for Diagnosis of Psoriasis in Traditional Chinese Medicine显示文摘Psoriasis is a chronic,non-communicable,painful,disfiguring and disabling disease for which there is no cure,with great negative impact on patients’quality of life(QoL).Diagnosis and treatment with traditional Chinese medical technique based on syndrome differentiation has been used in practice for a long time and proven effective,though,up to now,there are only a few available studies about the use of semantic technologies and the knowledge systems that use Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)-syndrome differentiation for information retrieval and automated reasoning.In this paper we use semantic techniques based on ontologies to develop a prototypical system for the diagnosis of Psoriasis.For this purpose,a domain ontology is developed for syndrome differentiation of psoriasis vulgaris(PV).This ontology is founded on an adapted version of the general formal ontology(GFO),with the evidence-based clinical practice guideline of TCM for psoriasis vulgaris(Guideline 2013)as the primary data sources.The implemented prototype,called ONTOPV,contains this domain ontology and is aimed at a decision support system for diagnosis and treatment of PV.This system uses a case-database for Case Based Reasoning(CBR),combined with fuzzy pattern recognition.Experimental results show that the ONTOPV realizes the basic functionalities of data collection,querying,browsing and navigation,and supports rule-based knowledge reasoning,and integrates fuzzy pattern recognition.It can provide users with clinical decision support for TCM syndrome differentiation in diagnosis of psoriasis.Hai Long Zhe Wang Yidi Cui Junhui Wang Bo Gao Chao Chen Yan Zhu Heinrich Herre 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,12:1
16Soil microbial communities as potential regulators of N2O sources in highly acidic soils显示文摘●Soil pH was a key driver of N2O emission and sources in acidic soils.●N2O emission was significantly positively associated with the ratio of ITS to 16S.●N2O was significantly correlated with bacterial and fungal community composition.●Fungi contributed to N2O in highly acidic tea plantations and vegetable fields.Acidic soil is a main source of global nitrous oxide(N2O)emissions.However,the mechanism behind the high N2O emissions from acidic soils remains a knowledge gap.The objective of this microcosm incubation study was to pin-point the microbial mechanisms involved in N2O production processes in acidic soils.For that purpose,the isotopic signatures and microbial community structure and composition of four soil samples were examined.The results showed that highly acid soils(pH=3.51)emitted 89 times more N2O than alkaline soils(pH=7.95)under the same nitrogen(N)inputs.Fungal denitrification caused high N2O emissions in acidic soils.ITS to 16S abundance ratio was positively correlated with cumulative N2O emissions from the tested soils.The highly acid soils(pH<4.5)showed greater fungal nirK gene abundance and lower abundance of AOA-amoA,AOB-amoA,nirK,nosZ I and nosZ II genes.The unclassified Aspergillaceae fungi(63.65%)dominated the highly acidic soils and was the most strongly correlated genus with N2O emissions.These findings highlight that soil microbial community structures,denitrifying fungi in particular,shaped by low pH(pH<4.5)lead to high N2O emissions from acidic soils.Junhui Yin Huaihai Chen Pengpeng Duan Kun Zhu Naihui Li Yan Ma Yumeng Xu Jingheng Guo Rui Liu Qing Chen 2023Soil Ecology Letters2023,5,4:1
17Hetero-bivalent nanobodies provide broad-spectrum protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern including Omicron显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants with adaptive mutations have continued to emerge,causing fresh waves of infection even amongst vaccinated population.The development of broad-spectrum antivirals is thus urgently needed.We previously developed two hetero-bivalent nanobodies(Nbs),aRBD-2-5 and aRBD-2-7,with potent neutralization activity against the wild-type(WT)Wuhan isolated SARS-CoV-2,by fusing aRBD-2 with aRBD-5 and aRBD-7,respectively.Here,we resolved the crystal structures of these Nbs in complex with the receptor-binding domain(RBD)of the spike protein,and found that aRBD-2 contacts with highly conserved RBD residues and retains binding to the RBD of the Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,Delta plus,Kappa,Lambda,Omicron BA.1,and BA.2 variants.In contrast,aRBD-5 and aRBD-7 bind to less conserved RBD epitopes non overlapping with the epitope of aRBD 2,and do not show apparent binding to the RBD of some variants.However,when fused with aRBD-2,they effectively enhance the overal binding affinity.Consistently,aRBD-2-5-Fc and aRBD-2-7 Fc potently neutralized all of the tested authentic or pseudotyped viruses,incuding WT,Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,and Omicron BA.1,BA.1.1 and BA.2.Furthermore,aRBD-2-5-FC provided prophylactic protection against the WT and mouse-adapted SARS CoV-2 in mice,and conferred protection against the Omicron BA.1 variant in hamsters prophylatically and therapeutically,indicating that aRBD-2-5-Fc could potentially beneft the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 caused by the emerging variants of concern.Our strategy provides new solutions in the development of broad-spectrum therapeutic antibodies for COVID-19.Huan Ma Xinghai Zhang Peiyi Zheng Peter H.Dube Weihong Zeng Shaohong Chen Qingyu Cheng Yunru Yang Yan Wu Junhui Zhou Xiaowen Hu Yan Xiang Huajun Zhang Sandra Chiu Tengchuan Jin 2022Cell Research2022,32,9:1

19Phytosulfokine-α Promotes Root Growth by Repressing Expression of Pectin Methylesterase Inhibitor (PMEI) Genes in Medicago truncatula显示文摘Phytosulfokine-α(PSK-α),a sulfated pentapeptide with the sequence YIYTQ,is encoded by a small precursor gene family in Arabidopsis.PSK-αregulates multiple growth and developmental processes as a novel peptide hormone.Despite its importance,functions of PSK-αin M.truncatula growth remains unknown.In this study,we identified five genes to encode PSK-αprecursors in M.truncatula.All of these precursors possess conserved PSK-αsignature motif.Expression pattern analysis of these MtPSK genes revealed that each gene was expressed in a tissue-specific or ubiquitous pattern and three of them were remarkably expressed in root.Treatment of M.truncatula seedlings with synthetic PSK-αpeptide significantly promoted root elongation.In addition,expression analysis of downstream genes by RNA-seq and qRT-PCR assays suggested that PSK-αsignaling might regulate cell wall structure via PMEI-PME module to promote root cell growth.Taken together,our results shed light on the mechanism by which PSK-αpromotes root growth in M.truncatula,providing a new resource for improvement of root growth in agriculture.Liangliang Yu Wenjun Zhou Danping Zhang Junhui Yan Li Luo 2020Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2020,89,4:1
