1Etiology of fulminant hepatic failure:experience from a tertiary hospital in Bangladesh显示文摘BACKGROUND: Fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) is not uncommon in our clinical practice in Bangladesh. There was a rise in acute hepatitis E virus (HEV) in Bangladesh after the 2004 floods. At that time, most of the country was under water for more than a month, leading to sewage contamination of the water supply. The aim of this study was to investigate the etiology of FHF in Bangladesh. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 23 patients with FHF who presented with severe impairment of hepato- cellular function (i.e. encephalopathy, coagulopathy and jaundice) within 6 months of onset of symptoms were included. There were 17 men and 6 women, aged from 18 to 32 years. Four of the women were pregnant. Patients were tested for markers for common hepatotrophic viruses. A relevant history was taken and the Patient Record Book of the Unit was reviewed. RESULTS: 56.52% patients (13/23) had HEV infection, and all were anti-HEV IgM-positive tested by ELISA. HBV infection was detected in 34.78% patients (8/23), all of whom were tested positive for either HBsAg or anti-HBs IgM by ELISA. 8.7% patients (2/23) had a positive history for intake of alcohol and/or drugs. CONCLUSIONS: Acute HEV infection is the leading cause of FHF in Bangladesh. Sewage contamination of the water supply following floods contributes to a higher incidence of HEV infection. HBV infection is also important.Mamun-Al Mahtab Salimur Rahman Mobin Khan Ayub Al Mamun Shahrin Afroz 2008Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2008,7,2:5

3Effects of stand characteristics on tree species richness in and around a conservation area of northeast Bangladesh显示文摘We investigated the effect of tree cover, forest patch and disturbances on tree species richness in a highly diverse conservation area of northeast Bangladesh.A systematic sampling protocol was adopted and 80 sub-plots from twenty five 1 ha plots were used for the vegetation survey.Linear regression analysis was performed to understand the effect of patch area, disturbances and tree cover on tree species richness.Ordination using Redundancy analysis(RDA) and Non-metric Multi Dimensional Scaling(NMDS) were also performed to explore the tree species compositional similarities along the stand characteristics gradient and locations of the sample plots. Our study revealed that, forest patch size has greater influence on species richness.Areas with medium level of disturbances have shown greater species richness. In constrained ordination the selected explanatory variables regulated the richness of common species. Our findings can be useful for better forest management and restoration of landscapes of conservation needs using ecologically important species.Muha Abdullah Al PAVEL SharifA.MUKUL Mohammad Belal UDDIN Kazuhiro HARADA Mohammed A.S.ARFIN KHAN 2016Journal of Mountain Science2016,13,6:2
4Bromophenacyl bromide,a phospholipase A_2 inhibitor attenuates chemically induced gastroduodenal ulcers in rats显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of bromophenacyl bromide (BPB), a phospholipase A2 inhibitor on gastric secretion and to protect chemically induced gastric and duodenal ulcers in rats. METHODS: Acid secretion studies were undertaken in pylorus-ligated rats with BPB treatment (0, 5, 15 and 45 mg/kg). Gastric and duodenal lesions in the rats were induced by ethanol and cysteamine respectively. The levels of gastric wall mucus, nonprotein sulfhydryls (NP- SH) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) were also measured in the glandular stomach of rats following ethanol induced gastric lesions. RESULTS: BPB produced a dose-dependent inhibition of gastric acid secretion and acidity in rats. Pretreatment with BPB significantly attenuated the formation of etha- nol induced gastric lesion. BPB also protected intestinal mucosa against cysteamine-induced duodenal ulcers. The antiulcer activity of BPB was associated with signifi- cant inhibition of ethanol-induced depletion of gastric wall mucus, NP-SH and MPO. These findings pointed towards the mediation of sulfhydryls in BPB induced gas- trointestinal cytoprotection. CONCLUSION: BPB possesses significant antiulcer and cytoprotective activity against experimentally induced gastroduodenal lesions.Mohammad Tariq Ibrahim Elfaki Haseeb Ahmad Khan Mohammad Arshaduddin Samia Sobki Meshal Al Moutaery 2006World Journal of Gastroenterology2006,12,36:2

19Single and Mitochondrial Gene Inheritance Disorder Prediction Using Machine Learning显示文摘One of the most difficult jobs in the post-genomic age is identifying a genetic disease from a massive amount of genetic data.Furthermore, the complicated genetic disease has a very diverse genotype, making it challenging to find genetic markers. This is a challenging process since it must be completed effectively and efficiently. This research article focuses largely on which patients are more likely to have a genetic disorder based on numerous medical parameters.Using the patient’s medical history,we used a genetic disease prediction algorithm that predicts if the patient is likely to be diagnosed with a genetic disorder. To predict and categorize the patient with a genetic disease,we utilize several deep and machine learning techniques such as Artificial neural network(ANN),K-nearest neighbors(KNN),and Support vector machine(SVM).To enhance the accuracy of predicting the genetic disease in any patient,a highly efficient approach was utilized to control how the model can be used.To predict genetic disease, deep and machine learning approaches are performed. The most productive tool model provides more precise efficiency. The simulation results demonstrate that by using the proposed model with the ANN,we achieve the highest model performance of 85.7%,84.9%,84.3%accuracy of training, testing and validation respectively. This approach will undoubtedly transform genetic disorder prediction and give a real competitive strategy to save patients’lives.Muhammad Umar Nasir Muhammad Adnan Khan Muhammad Zubair Taher MGhazal Raed A.Said Hussam Al Hamadi 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,10:1
