| 1 | Prevalence and virological profiles of hepatitis B infection in human immunodeficiency virus patients显示文摘AIM: To determine the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in adult human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients with CD4+ T-cell count less than 500/mm 3 and without antiretroviral therapy; to describe different HBV-HIV coinfection virological profiles; and to search for factors associated with HBs antigen (HBsAg) presence in these HIV positive patients.METHODS: During four months (June through September 2006), 491 patients were received in four HIV positive monitoring clinical centers in Abidjan. Inclusion criteria: HIV-1 or HIV-1 and 2 positive patients, age ≥ 18 years, CD4+ T-cell count < 500/mL and formal and signed consent of the patient. Realized blood tests included HIV serology, CD4+ T-cell count, quantitative HIV RNA load and HBV serological markers, such as HBsAg and HBc antibody (anti-HBcAb). We performed HBeAg, anti-HBe antibody (anti-HBeAb), anti-HBc IgM and quantitative HBV DNA load in HBsAg positive patients. Anti-HBsAb had been tested in HIV patients with HBsAg negative and anti-HBcAb-positive. HBV DNA was also tested in 188 anti-HBcAb positive patients with HBsAg negative status and without anti-HBsAb. Univariate analysis (Pearsonχ 2 test or Fischer exact test) and multivariate analysis (backward step-wise selection logistic regression) were performed as statistical analysis. RESULTS: Mean age of 491 patients was 36 ± 8.68 years and 73.3% were female. Type-1 HIV was found in 97% and dual-type HIV (type 1 plus type 2) in 3%. World Health Organization (WHO) clinical stage was 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively in 61 (12.4%), 233 (47.5%), 172 (35%) and 25 patients (5.1%). Median CD4+ T-cell count was 341/mm 3 (interquartile range: 221-470). One hundred and twelve patients had less than 200 CD4+ T-cell/mm 3 . Plasma HIV-1 RNA load was elevated (≥ 5 log 10 copies/mL) in 221 patients (45%). HBsAg and anti-HBcAb prevalence was respectively 13.4% and 72.9%. Of the 66 HBsAg positive patients, 22 were inactive HBV carriers (33.3%), 21 had HBeAg positive hepatitis (31.8%) and 20 had HBeAg negative hepatitis (30.3%). HBeAg and anti-HBeAb were indeterminate in 3 of them. Occult B infection prevalence (HBsAg negative, anti-HBcAb positive, anti-HBsAb negative and detectable HBV DNA) was 21.3%. Three parameters were significantly associated with the presence of HBsAg: male [odds ratio (OR): 2.2;P = 0.005; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.3-3.8]; WHO stage 4 (OR: 3.2;P = 0.01;95% CI: 1.3-7.9); and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level higher than the standard (OR: 1.9;P = 0.04; 95% CI: 1.02-3.8). CONCLUSION: HBV infection prevalence is high in HIV-positive patients. HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis and occult HBV infection are more frequent in HIVpositive patients than in HIV negative ones. | 2 | 不同颜色芝麻营养品质性状遗传变异分析显示文摘为分析不同颜色芝麻间的品质差异特征,本研究对157份包含白、黄、褐、黑不同种皮颜色的芝麻种质资源,在武汉和驻马店两个环境下的13个营养品质性状进行测定分析。结果表明:157份芝麻种质平均含油量为52.96%,油酸、亚油酸、芝麻素、芝麻林素、菜油甾醇、β-谷甾醇的平均含量分别为40.65%、44.32%、2.67 mg/g、1.61 mg/g、1.22 mg/g、2.96 mg/g。平均含油量随着芝麻种皮颜色加深逐渐降低;总甾醇含量在黑芝麻中最高;芝麻素和芝麻林素在白芝麻中含量最高,在黑芝麻中含量最低;黄芝麻油酸含量最高,褐芝麻亚油酸含量最高。黑芝麻含油量、油酸含量、芝麻素和芝麻林素含量显著低于白芝麻,硬脂酸、亚油酸、花生酸、菜油甾醇和β-谷甾醇含量在不同颜色芝麻中无显著差异。13个营养品质性状中,β-谷甾醇与豆甾醇,Δ5-燕麦甾醇与豆甾醇,芝麻素与芝麻林素,芝麻素与含油量,芝麻林素与菜油甾醇间呈极显著正相关,油酸和亚油酸间呈极显著负相关;黑芝麻Δ5-燕麦甾醇与豆甾醇、芝麻素与芝麻林素间的相关系数高于其他颜色芝麻。聚类分析可将157份芝麻材料分为4个亚群,第Ⅰ和第Ⅱ亚群分别以褐黑色和黄白色芝麻为主,第Ⅲ亚群包含高芝麻素材料,第Ⅳ亚群包含高亚油酸材料和高含油量材料。本研究探明了不同颜色芝麻间的品质差异特性,为芝麻种质资源的利用和遗传改良提供了参考和优异种质。 | 罗自舒 王志坚 周王易 Senouwa Segla Koffi Dossou 周瑢 张艳欣 黎冬华 游均 王林海 | 2023 | 植物遗传资源学报2023,24,2: | 4 |

| 4 | Woody vegetation of protected areas in northern Togo. Cases of Barkoissi, Galangashi and Oti-Keran: ecological and structure analyses of plant communities显示文摘The 170 samples obtained from ligneous investigation in Barkoissi,Galangashi and Oti-Keran protected areas(northern Togo) were subjected to floristic processing and several multivariate analyses in order to study plant diversity,life form and chorological type distribution and to classify and identify the main plant communities with their demographic structure.First,the overall life form and phytogeographical type frequencies were calculated to analyze and show the distribution of the 68 plants species in this area.Then plant communities were determined by using the hierarchical clustering with wards method.The plant communities found were identified by the technique of indicator value(IndVal).For each grouping diversity index such as specific richness,Shannon index and Pielou's evenness was set out.The canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) was also used to relate the impact of environment factors and the distribution of samples.Finally the variance analysis(ANOVA) associated to post-hoc test was used to compare the similarity between the groupings.From these 170 samples,12 plant communities were discriminated,three for the reserve of Barkoissi,three for the reserve of Galangashi and six for the reserve of Oti-Keran.The samples were well distributed in the factorial plan form by axe 1 and 3 of CCA.The plant communities were distributed along the moisture gradient in the ordination.The Sudano-Zambesian species followed by Sudanian species were the phytogeographical types most found in these areas.The microphanerophytes were the most represented life form.The structural parameters such as diameter and height means,the basal area and the densities determined and submitted to post-hoc test show some important similarity between some groups found.In overall,the vegetation condition of the three protected areas is somehow disturbed while most of the plant communities are stable.These preliminary ecological data obtained are essential and fundamental for the management and protection for these ecosystems. | Folega FOUSSENI Wala KPERKOUM ZHANG Chun-yu ZHAO Xiu-hai Akpagana KOFFI | 2011 | Forestry Studies in China2011,13,1: | 3 |
| 5 | Community knowledge,attitudes and practices related to schistosomiasis and associated healthcare-seeking behaviours in northern Côte d’Ivoire and southern Mauritania显示文摘Background:Among parasitic infections,schistosomiasis ranks second after malaria in terms of worldwide morbidity.Despite efforts to contain transmission,more than 230 million people are infected,of which 85%live in Sub-Saharan Africa.While the epidemiologic characteristics of schistosomiasis have been extensively studied across endemic settings,social factors have been paid less attention.The current study assesses community knowledge of schistosomiasis causes,transmission,signs,symptoms and prevention,as well as healthcare-seeking behaviours in two West African settings,with the aim of strengthening schistosomiasis control interventions.Methods:From August 2014 to June 2015,we conducted two cross-sectional surveys in Korhogo,Cote d’Ivoire and Kaedi,Mauritania.We applied a questionnaire to collect quantitative data at the household level in Korhogo(n=1456)and Kaedi(n=1453).Focus group discussions(Korhogo:n=32,Kaedi:n=32)and participatory photography(photovoice)(Korhogo:n=16,Kaedi:n=16)were conducted within the communities to gather qualitative data.In addition,semi-structured interviews were used to discuss with key informants from control programmes,nongovernmental organizations and health districts(Korhogo:n=8,Kaedi:n=7).Results:The study demonstrated that schistosomiasis is not well known by the communities;64.1%claimed to know the causes of the disease,but the reality is different.This knowledge is more from cultural than biomedical source.It was observed that social construction of the disease is different from the biomedical definition.In Korhogo,schistosomiasis was often associated with several other diseases,notably stomach ulcer and gonorrhoea.The populations believe that schistosomiasis is caused by exposure to goat or dog urine in the environment.In Kaedi,schistosomiasis is considered as a disease transmitted by environmenal elements such as sunshine and dirty water.In both settings,the care-seeking pathways were found to be strongly influenced by local customs and self-medication acquired from the informal sector.Conclusions:This study revealed that knowledge about the aetiology,transmission,symptoms,prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis among the populations in Korhogo and Kaedi is based on their local culture.Deep-rooted habits could therefore pose a significant obstacle to the elimination of schistosomiasis. | Amoin Jeanne d’Arc Koffi Mohamed Doumbia Gilbert Fokou Moussa Keita Brama Kone N’doumy Noel Abe | 2018 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1: | 2 |
| 6 | Satellite monitoring of land-use and land-cover changes in northern Togo protected areas显示文摘Remote-sensing data for protected areas in northern Togo, obtained in three different years(2007, 2000, and 1987), were used to assess and map changes in land cover and land use for this drought prone zone. The normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) was applied to the images to map changes in vegetation. An unsupervised classification, followed by classes recoding, filtering, identifications, area computing and post-classification process were applied to the composite of the three years of NDVI images. Maximum likelihood classification was applied to the 2007 image(ETM+2007) using a supervised classification process. Seven vegetation classes were defined from training data sets. The seven classes included the following biomes: riparian forest, dry forest, flooded vegetation, wooded savanna, fallows, parkland, and water. For these classes, the overall accuracy and the overall kappa statistic for the classified map were 72.5% and 0.67, respectively. Data analyses indicated a great change in land resources; especially between 1987 and 2000 probably due to the impact of democratization process social, economic, and political disorder from 1990. Wide-scale loss of vegetation occurred during this period. However, areas of vegetation clearing and regrowth were more visible between 2000 and 2007. The main source of confusion in the contingency matrix was due to heterogeneity within certain classes. It could also be due to spectral homogeneity among the classes. | 15 | Assessment and impact of anthropogenic disturbances in protected areas of northern Togo显示文摘These days,human activities in the savanna and the remaining dry and riparian forests of the Sudanian ecoregions continue to have their impact.These anthropogenic practices are still the main cause of disturbances in these areas.In order to investigate and assess the importance of these disturbances,caused by people bordering on protected areas and to determine the relation between these activities and the environment in which they are carried out,220 samples were selected in the three main protected areas of northern Togo.The investigation was mainly qualitative,considering the floristic sampling of this drought area;any anthropogenic activities observed were recorded.A simple investigative questionnaire about the activities of rural people in the reserved areas was distributed to individuals encountered in the study area.Each sample in the investigation ended with a site description of its ecological characterization,i.e.,soil features,topography,fauna footprints,dominant plant species and GPS position;we also took photographs of the site.Data processing was entirely based on descriptive statistics and a factor analysis.The results show that eight kinds of human activities,i.e.,the use of pastures,tree cutting,bush fires,charcoal production,harvesting of plant material,farming,honey harvesting and hunting,were noted to be serious disturbances to the integrity of the ecosystems.Among these disturbances,three are recurrent in all the sampled areas of which the use of pastures accounts for 31.88%,tree cutting for 30.35% and bush fires for 30.13%.Fire and pasture disturbances are closely linked and are responsible for the current features of the savanna area of the region.Tree cutting is more a direct function of the need for the production of wood fuel,generally used by city populations.Hunting,farming and honey production are of lesser importance in the area and therefore,do not pose a significantly negative effect on the growth of fauna and flora.Knowledge of these disturbances in the context of requalification and a renewed demarcation of protected areas in Togo is essential for their sustainable management. | Folega FOUSSENI Dourma MARRA Kperkouma WALA Komlan BATAWILA ZHANG Chun-yu ZHAO Xiu-hai Koffi AKPAGANA | 2012 | Forestry Studies in China2012,14,3: | 1 |

Methods:After ethnobotanical survey,Opilia celtidifolia,Pavetta corymbosa(P.corymbosa) and Tamarindus indica(T.indica) were selected for screening.In vitro antimalarial tests were performed on crude extracts against fresh clinical isolates of Plasmodium falciparum using the semi microtest.Results:Different IC50,values of the extracts ranged from 2.042 to 100.000μg/mL. According to the results,the methanol extract of aerial part of P.corymbosa followed by aqueous extract of fruit of T.indica were the most active(IC50 of 2.042 and 4.786μg/mL,respectively).
