| 1 | Spatial-temporal characteristics of lake area variations in Hoh Xil region from 1970 to 2011显示文摘As one of the areas with numerous lakes on the Tibetan Plateau, the Hoh Xil region plays an extremely important role in the fragile plateau eco-environment. Based on topographic maps in the 1970 s and Landsat TM/ETM+ remote sensing images in the 1990 s and the period from 2000 to 2011, the data of 83 lakes with an area above 10 km2 each were obtained by digitization method and artificial visual interpretation technology, and the causes for lake variations were also analyzed. Some conclusions can be drawn as follows.(1) From the 1970 s to 2011, the lakes in the Hoh Xil region firstly shrank and then expanded. In particular, the area of lakes generally decreased during the 1970s–1990s. Then the lakes expanded from the 1990 s to 2000 and the area was slightly higher than that in the 1970 s. The area of lakes dramatically increased after 2000.(2) From 2000 to 2011, the lakes with different area ranks in the Hoh Xil region showed an overall expansion trend. Meanwhile, some regional differences were also discovered. Most of the lakes expanded and were widely distributed in the northern, central and western parts of the region. Some lakes were merged together or overflowed due to their rapid expansion. A small number of lakes with the trend of area decrease or strong fluctuation were scattered in the central and southern parts of the study area. And their variations were related to their own supply conditions or hydraulic connection with the downstream lakes or rivers.(3) The increase in precipitation was the dominant factor resulting in the expansion of lakes in the Hoh Xil region. | 2 | BRAF^(V600E) vs. TIRADS in predicting papillary thyroid cancers in Bethesda system Ⅰ, Ⅲ, and Ⅴ nodules显示文摘Objective: Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology(BSRTC) categories Ⅰ, Ⅲ, and Ⅴaccount for a significant proportion of fine needle aspiration cytology(FNAC) diagnoses. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic efficacy of BRAF^(V600E) mutation and the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System(TIRADS) classification in differentiating papillary thyroid cancers(PTCs) from benign lesions among BSRTC I, III, and V nodules.Methods: A total of 472 patients with 479 nodules were enrolled in this prospective study. Ultrasound, BRAF^(V600E) mutation testing, and FNAC were performed in each nodule, followed by surgery or regular ultrasound examination.Results: In the BSRTC I category, BRAF^(V600E) showed similar sensitivity, higher specificity, and lower accuracy when compared with TIRADS. In the BSRTC III/V category, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of BRAF^(V600E) were similar to those of TIRADS. In comparison to BRAF^(V600E) alone, the combination of the two methods significantly improved sensitivity(BSRTC Ⅰ:93.6% vs. 67.7%, P < 0.01; BSRTC Ⅲ: 93.8% vs. 75.0%, P < 0.01; BSRTC V: 96.0% vs. 85.3%, P < 0.001). When compared with TIRADS alone, the combination improved sensitivity in BSRTC Ⅰ nodules(93.6% vs. 74.2%, P < 0.05), increased sensitivity and decreased accuracy in BSRTC III nodules(93.8% vs. 75.0%, P < 0.01, 91.0% vs. 93.6%, P < 0.01), and improved both sensitivity and accuracy in BSRTC V nodules(96.0% vs. 82.0%, P < 0.001; 94.2% vs. 81.3%, P < 0.001).Conclusions: BRAF^(V600E) exhibited higher specificity and lower accuracy compared with TIRADS in BSRTC Ⅰ nodules, while the two methods showed similar diagnostic value in BSRTC Ⅲ/Ⅴ nodules. | 4 | Application of a novel backwashing process in upflow biological aerated filter显示文摘To improve the efficiency of backwashing in upflow biological aerated filter (BAF), a novel backwashing process named air-water siphon backwashing (AWSB) was proposed and applied on laboratory scale. The effects of backwashing on turbidity and suspended solid (SS) in backwashing efluent using this new backwashing process were compared with those of traditional backwashing process, namely air-water backwashing (AWB). In AWB, the turbidity of backwashing efluent maintained 100 NUT when consumed 60 min and 10.5 L water. However, in AWSB, it declined to 44 NUT, consumed 40 min, and 7 L water. The COD removal of BAF after backwashing was also analyzed. The average removal rate of COD in the reactor backwashed by AWB and AWSB was 89.34% and 90.91%, respectively. Compared with AWB, the backwashing interval had been prolonged 35%. The volume of backwashing water in that AWSB was only 66.7% of that in AWB. The results demonstrated that AWSB required less water and took shorter backwashing time relative to AWB to achieve the same turbidity of backwashing efluent, and AWSB was more effective in removing fouling than that of AWB. | 5 | Three-dimensional holographic vector of atomic interaction field for quantitative structure-retention relationship of purine bases显示文摘A newly developed descriptor, three- dimensional holographic vector of atomic interaction field (3D-HoVAIF), was used to describe the chemical structures of purine bases. After variable screening by stepwise multiple regression (SMR) technique, a partial least square (PLS) regression model was built with 3D-HoVAIF. The model was satisfactory com- paring to reference since correlation coefficients of molecular modeling ( Rc 2um), cross- validation ( Qc 2um) and standard deviation of estimation (SD) were 0.966, 0.860 and 0.112, respectively, showing that the model had favorable estimation and prediction capa- bilities. It was illustrated that information related to retention data of purine bases could preferably be expressed by 3D-HoVAIF with definite physico- chemical meanings and easy structural interpretation for purine bases. It was illustrated that 3D-HoVAIF was to preferably express retention data of purine bases and had definite physicochemical significance. | 6 | Prediction of median survival time in sepsis patients by the SOFA score combined with different predictors显示文摘Background:Sepsis is the leading cause of intensive care unit(ICU)admission.The purpose of this study was to explore the prognostic value of the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(SOFA)score,the Acute Physiological and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ)score,and procalcitonin(PCT),albumin(ALB),and lactate(LAC)levels in patients with sepsis.Methods:Consecutive adult patients with suspected or documented sepsis at ICU admission were recruited.Their basic vital signs and related auxiliary examinations to determine their PCT and ALB levels and APACHE Ⅱ score were recorded at ICU admission,and their LAC levels and SOFA scores were recorded for one week after admission.The influence of these variables on hospital mortality was evaluated.Logistic regression was used to derive the Sepsis Hospital Mortality Score(SHMS),a prediction equation describing the relationship between predictors and hospital mortality.The median survival time was calculated by the Kaplan–Meier method.In the validation group,the kappa value was calculated to evaluate the stability of the derived formula.Results:This study included 894 sepsis patients admitted to 18 ICUs in 16 tertiary hospitals.Patients were randomly assigned to an experimental group(626 cases)and validation group(258 cases).In addition,a nonsurvival group(248 patients)of the experimental group was established according to the outcome at the time of discharge.The hospital mortality rate in the experimental group was 39.6%(248/626).Univariate and multivariate regression analyses revealed that the APACHE Ⅱ score(odds ratio[OR]=1.178),△SOFA(OR=1.186),△LAC(OR=1.157),and SOFA mean score(OR=1.086)were independently associated with hospital mortality.The SHMS was calculated as logit(p)=4.715–(0.164×APACHE Ⅱ)–(0.171×△SOFA)–(0.145×△LAC)–(0.082×SOFA mean).A receiver operating characteristic curve was constructed to further investigate the accuracy of the SHMS,with an area under the curve of 0.851(95%confidence interval[CI]0.821–0.882;p<0.001)for hospital mortality.In the low-risk group and high-risk groups,the corresponding median survival times were 15 days and 11 days,respectively.Conclusion:The APACHE Ⅱ score,△SOFA,△LAC and SOFA mean score were independently associated with hospital mortality in sepsis patients and accurately predicted the hospital mortality rate and median survival time.Data on the median survival time in sepsis patients could be provided to clinicians to assist in the rational use of limited medical resources by facilitating prudent resource allocation.Trial registration:ChiCTR-ECH-13003934,retrospectively registered on August 03,2013. | Wen Li Meiping Wang Bo Zhu Yibing Zhu Xiuming Xi | 2020 | Burns & Trauma2020,8,1: | 7 |

| 8 | Cotransport of graphene oxides/reduced graphene oxides with BPA in both bare and iron oxides coated quartz sand显示文摘This study investigated the cotransport behaviors of graphene oxides(GO) and reduced graphene oxides(RGO) with bisphenol A(BPA) in porous media in both NaCl(1 and 10 mmol/L) and CaCl2 solutions(0.5 and 1.5 mmol/L) at pH 6.5. Both bare and iron oxides-coated quartz sand were employed as porous media in present study. We found that under all examined solution conditions, the presence of BPA(100 μg/L) did not have obvious influence on the transport of both GO and RGO(8 mg/L as TOC) in both bare and iron oxides-coated quartz sand. Although the dissolved BPAwas the major form dominating the transport behaviors of total BPA in the presence of GO/RGO, yet the GO/RGO-associated BPA(due to the adsorption of BPA onto GO/RGO surfaces) also had some contribution to the transport of total BPA in the presence of GO/RGO in two types of porous media.Overall, due to the different transport behaviors of GO and RGO under different solution conditions, we found that the presence of GO/RGO decreased the transport of total BPA under all examined solution conditions in two types of porous media with the smallest decrease in 1 mmol/L NaCl solutions and the largest in 1.5 mmol/L CaCl2 solutions. | 12 | Dichroic laser mirrors with mixture layers and sandwich-like-structure interfaces显示文摘The requirements for dichroic laser mirrors continue to increase with the development of laser technology. The challenge of a dichroic laser mirror coating is to simultaneously obtain spectral performance with significantly different reflection or transmission properties as well as a high laser-induced damage threshold(LIDT) at two different wavelengths. Traditional dichroic laser mirrors composed of alternating high-and low-refractive-index pure materials often has difficulty achieving excellent spectral performance and high LIDTs at two wavelengths simultaneously. We propose to use a new design with mixture layers and sandwich-like-structure interfaces to meet the challenging requirements. An Al_(2) O_(3)-HfO_(2) mixture-based dichroic laser mirror, which can be used as a harmonic separator in a fusion-class laser or a pump/signal beam separator in a petawatt-class Ti-sapphire laser system, is experimentally demonstrated using e-beam deposition. The mixture-based dichroic mirror coating shows good spectral performance, fine mechanical property, low absorption, and high LIDT. For the s-polarized 7.7 ns pulses at a wavelength of 532 nm and the p-polarized 12 ns pulses at a wavelength of 1064 nm, the LIDTs are almost doubled. | 15 | Effects of interlayer coupling on the excitons and electronic structures of WS_(2)/hBN/MoS_(2) van der Waals heterostructures显示文摘Inserting hexagonal boron nitride(hBN)as barrier layers into bilayer transition metal dichalcogenides heterointerface has been proved an efficient method to improve two dimensional tunneling optoelectronic device performance.Nevertheless,the physical picture of interlayer coupling effect during incorporation of monolayer(1L-)hBN is not explicit yet.In this article,spectroscopic ellipsometry was used to experimentally obtain the broadband excitonic and critical point properties of WS_(2)/MoS_(2)and WS_(2)/hBN/MoS_(2)van der Waals heterostructures.We find that 1L-hBN can only slightly block the interlayer electron transfer from WS_(2)layer to MoS_(2)layer.Moreover,insertion of 1L-hBN weakens the interlayer coupling effect by releasing quantum confinement and reducing efficient dielectric screening.Consequently,the exciton binding energies in WS_(2)/hBN/MoS_(2)heterostructures blueshift comparing to those in WS_(2)/MoS_(2)heterostructures.In this exciton binding energies tuning process,the reducing dielectric screening effect plays a leading role.In the meantime,the quasi-particle(QP)bandgap remains unchanged before and after 1L-hBN insertion,which is attributed to released quantum confinement and decreased dielectric screening effects canceling each other.Unchanged QP bandgap as along with blueshift exciton binding energies lead to the redshift exciton transition energies in WS_(2)/hBN/MoS_(2)heterostructures. | Xudan Zhu Junbo He Rongjun Zhang Chunxiao Cong Yuxiang Zheng Hao Zhang Songyou Wang Haibin Zhao Meiping Zhu Shanwen Zhang Shaojuan Li Liangyao Chen | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 1 |
