| 1 | Biomaterial-based strategies for maxillofacial tumour therapy and bone defect regeneration显示文摘Issues caused by maxillofacial tumours involve not only dealing with tumours but also repairing jaw bone defects.In traditional tumour therapy,the systemic toxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs,invasive surgical resection,intractable tumour recurrence,and metastasis are major threats to the patients’lives in the clinic.Fortunately,biomaterial-based intervention can improve the efficiency of tumour treatment and decrease the possibility of recurrence and metastasis,suggesting new promising antitumour therapies.In addition,maxillofacial bone tissue defects caused by tumours and their treatment can negatively affect the physiological and psychological health of patients,and investment in treatment can result in a multitude of burdens to society.Biomaterials are promising options because they have good biocompatibility and bioactive properties for stimulation of bone regeneration.More interestingly,an integrated material regimen that combines tumour therapy with bone repair is a promising treatment option.Herein,we summarized traditional and biomaterial-mediated maxillofacial tumour treatments and analysed biomaterials for bone defect repair.Furthermore,we proposed a promising and superior design of dual-functional biomaterials for simultaneous tumour therapy and bone regeneration to provide a new strategy for managing maxillofacial tumours and improve the quality of life of patients in the future. | Bowen Tan Quan Tang Yongjin Zhong Yali Wei Linfeng He Yanting Wu Jiabao Wu Jinfeng Liao | 2021 | International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,1: | 9 |
| 2 | Ecological influence of exotic plants of Sonneratia apetala on understory macrofauna显示文摘The study aims to compare the differences of macrofauna communities of wetlands at 3-year-forest- age, 5-year-forest-age Sonneratia apetala artificial mangroves, 5-year-forest-age Kandelia candel ar- tificial mangroves with the same restoration background, and the naked tidal flat in the Qi'ao Island Mangrove Nature Reserve of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. The results show that there were signif- icant structural differences in macrofauna communities among four kinds of habitats. The increase of biomass and species diversity of macrofauna at 3-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves was obviously faster than that at 5-year-forest-age K. candel artificial mangroves whose average tree height was close to that of 3-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves. The BIOENV analysis shows that it was related to the rapid growth of S. apetala, which rapidly changed the light level and shading conditions in the forests. The 5-year-forest-age S. apetala artificial mangroves had lower macrofauna species diversity but higher density and biomass than K. candel artificial mangroves with the same forest age. This was due to the rapid changes of physical and chemical properties of habitat soil by the ecological restoration of S. apetala artificial mangroves as well as the changed food sources possibly caused by the leaf-litter of such non-indigenous mangrove species S. apetala. | 3 | Dynamic bivariate normal copula显示文摘Normal copula with a correlation coefficient between-1 and 1 is tail independent and so it severely underestimates extreme probabilities. By letting the correlation coefficient in a normal copula depend on the sample size, H¨usler and Reiss(1989) showed that the tail can become asymptotically dependent. We extend this result by deriving the limit of the normalized maximum of n independent observations, where the i-th observation follows from a normal copula with its correlation coefficient being either a parametric or a nonparametric function of i/n. Furthermore, both parametric and nonparametric inference for this unknown function are studied, which can be employed to test the condition by H¨usler and Reiss(1989). | 5 | Gold nanorods and nanohydroxyapatite hybrid hydrogel for preventing bone tumor recurrence via postoperative photothermal therapy and bone regeneration promotion显示文摘Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone tumor,which often occurs in adolescents.However,surgical resection usually fails to completely remove the tumor clinically,which has been the main cause of postoperative recurrence and metastasis,resulting in the high death rate of patients.At the same time,osteosarcoma invades a large area of the bone defect,which cannot be self-repaired and seriously affects the life quality of the patients.Herein,a bifunctional methacrylated gelatin/methacrylated chondroitin sulfate hydrogel hybrid gold nanorods(GNRs)and nanohydroxyapatite(nHA),which possessed excellent photothermal effect,was constructed to eradicate residual tumor after surgery and bone regeneration.In vitro,K7M2wt cells(a mouse bone tumor cell line)can be efficiently eradicated by photothermal therapy of the hybrid hydrogel.Meanwhile,the hydrogel mimics the extracellular matrix to promote proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.The GNRs/nHA hybrid hydrogel was capable of photothermal treatment of postoperative tumors and bone defect repair in a mice model of tibia osteosarcoma.Therefore,the hybrid hydrogel possesses dual functions of tumor therapy and bone regeneration,which shows great potential in curing bone tumors and provides a new hope for tumor-related bone complex disease. | Jinfeng Liao Kun Shi Yanpeng Jia Yanting Wu Zhiyong Qian | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,8: | 3 |

| 9 | Dissolved organic matter accelerates microbial degradation of 17 alpha-ethinylestradiol in the presence of iron mineral显示文摘Dissolved organic matter(DOM)and iron minerals widely existing in the natural aquatic environment can mediate the migration and transformation of organic pollutants.However,the mechanism of interaction between DOM and iron minerals in the microbial degradation of pollutants deserves further investigation.In this study,the mechanism of 17 alphaethinylestradiol(EE2)biodegradation mediated by humic acid(HA)and three kinds of iron minerals(goethite,magnetite,and pyrite)was investigated.The results found that HA and iron minerals significantly accelerated the biodegradation process of EE2,and the highest degradation efficiency of EE2(48%)was observed in the HA-mediated microbial system with pyrite under aerobic conditions.Furthermore,it had been demonstrated that hydroxyl radicals(HO·)was the main active substance responsible for the microbial degradation of EE2.HO·is primarily generated through the reaction between hydrogen peroxide secreted by microorganisms and Fe(II),with aerobic conditions being more conducive.The presence of iron minerals and HA could change the microbial communities in the EE2 biodegradation system.These findings provide new information for exploring the migration and transformation of pollutants by microorganisms in iron-rich environments. | Huan He Min Shi Xiaoxia Yang Juhong Zhan Yanting Lin Ziwei Guo Zhicheng Liao Chaochao Lai Xiaomin Ren Bin Huang Xuejun Pan | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,5: | 0 |
| 10 | RBM14 promotes DNA end resection during homologous recombination repair显示文摘DNA double-strand break(DSB)repair by homologous recombination(HR)is crucial for the maintenance of genome stability and integrity.In this study,we aim to identify novel RNA binding proteins(RBPs)involved in HR repair because little is known about RBP function in HR.For this purpose,we carry out pulldown assays using a synthetic ssDNA/dsDNA structure coated with replication protein A(RPA)to mimic resected DNA,a crucial intermediate in HR-mediated DSB repair.Using this approach,we identify RNA-binding motif protein 14(RBM14)as a potential binding partner.We further show that RBM14 interacts with an essential HR repair factor,CtIP.RBM14 is crucial for CtIP recruitment to DSB sites and for subsequent RPA coating and RAD51 replacement,facilitating efficient HR repair.Moreover,inhibition of RBM14 expression sensitizes cancer cells to X-ray irradiation.Together,our results demonstrate that RBM14 promotes DNA end resection to ensure HR repair and may serve as a potential target for cancer therapy. | Zheng Li Yanting Liao Chen Tang Linli Xu Bin Peng Xingzhi Xu | 2023 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,12: | 0 |
