1Changes in terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions on the Loess Plateau(China) during the last half century显示文摘This paper,using a revised Penman-Monteith model,computed the terrestrial surface humidity index of the Loess Plateau(China) based on climatic factors of monthly mean temperature,maximum temperature,minimum temperature,relative humidity,precipitation,wind speed and sunshine duration observed on the plateau from 1961 to 2008.The temporal-spatial distribution,anomaly distribution and sub-regional temporal variations of the terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions were analyzed as well.The results showed a decreasing trend in the annual average surface humidity from the southeast to the northwest in the research area.Over the period of 1961-2008,an aridification tendency appeared sharply in the central interior region of the Loess Plateau,and less sharply in the middle part of the region.The border region showed the weakest tendency of aridification.It is clear that aridification diffused in all directions from the interior region.The spatial anomaly distribution of the terrestrial surface dry and wet conditions on the Loess Plateau can be divided into three key areas:the southern,western and eastern regions.The terrestrial annual humidity index displayed a significantly descending trend and showed remarkable abrupt changes from wet to dry in the years 1967,1977 and 1979.In the above mentioned three key areas for dry and wet conditions,the terrestrial annual humidity index exhibited a fluctuation period of 3-4 years,while in the southern region,a fluctuation period of 7-8 years existed at the same time.YuBi YAO RunYuan WANG JinHu YANG Ping YUE DengRong LU Guo,Ju XIAO Yang WANG LinChun LIU 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:14
2Integrated analysis of high-throughput sequencing data shows abscisic acidresponsive genes and miRNAs in strawberry receptacle fruit ripening显示文摘The perception and signal transduction of the plant hormone abscisic acid(ABA)are crucial for strawberry fruit ripening,but the underlying mechanism of how ABA regulates ripening-related genes has not been well understood.By employing high-throughput sequencing technology,we comprehensively analyzed transcriptomic and miRNA expression profiles simultaneously in ABA-and nordihydroguaiaretic acid(NDGA,an ABA biosynthesis blocker)-treated strawberry fruits with temporal resolution.The results revealed that ABA regulated many genes in different pathways,including hormone signal transduction and the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites.Transcription factor genes belonging to WRKY and heat shock factor(HSF)families might play key roles in regulating the expression of ABA inducible genes,whereas the KNOTTED1-like homeobox protein and Squamosa Promoter-Binding-like protein 18 might be responsible for ABA-downregulated genes.Additionally,20 known and six novel differentially expressed miRNAs might be important regulators that assist ABA in regulating target genes that are involved in versatile physiological processes,such as hormone balance regulation,pigments formation and cell wall degradation.Furthermore,degradome analysis showed that one novel miRNA,Fa_novel6,could degrade its target gene HERCULES1,which likely contributed to fruit size determination during strawberry ripening.These results expanded our understanding of how ABA drives the strawberry fruit ripening process as well as the role of miRNAs in this process.Dongdong Li Wangshu Mou Rui Xia Li Li Christopher Zawora Tiejin Ying Linchun Mao Zhongchi Liu Zisheng Luo 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:6
3Traditional Chinese Medicine etiology and pathogenesis of acquired immune deficiency syndrome in simian immunodeficiency virus-infected Chinese rhesus macaques显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) etiology and pathogenesis of acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS) by 18-month observation of Chinese rhesus macaques infected with simian immunodeficiency virus(SIV) mac 239.METHODS:Thirty-five healthy Chinese rhesus macaques were divided into a model group(n=30) and a control group(n=5).The model was established by inoculating monkeys intravenously with SIVmac 239.Changes in TCM symptoms after SIV infection within 18 months were then observed and recorded.Routine blood tests,SIV viral load,T-lymphocyte subsets,plasma triiodothyronine(T3),tetraiodothyronine(T4),adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) and cortisol(Cor) were tested periodically during the experiment.RESULTS:During the acute infection period of SIV,model monkeys temporarily showed clinical symptoms such as diarrhea,dysphoria and slight weight loss.Decrease percentages of CD4+ T-lymphocytes were observed but levels of T3,T4,Cor,and ACTH were relatively unchanged.Monkeys in the model group during the early and middle periods of infection showed no obvious symptoms,except few monkeys exhibited transient diarrhea and reduced food intake.All variables at this stage showed normal fluctuations.In the middle period model group monkeys showed chronic and persistent diarrhea,weight loss,reduced food intake and low levels of T3 and Cor.In the late period,symptoms including emaciation,weight loss,listlessness,crouching in corners and low levels of T3 appeared.CONCLUSION:The results suggest that the rhesus monkey SIV/SAIDS model can be applied to research on TCM etiology and pathogenesis of AIDS.According to this model,the etiology of disease is the SIV virus.The pathogenesis manifests as the invasion of SIV virus,incubation of the virus,balance between virus and healthy 'Qi',damage to spleen and kidney as the disease progressed,exhaustion of vitality and finally the failure of five zang and six fu organs.Maoqing Li Linchun Fu Yinjie Hu Miaomiao Zhang Jinyang He Zhixi Chen Jinyan Chen 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4:5
4Endogenous adult neurogenesis and cognitive function recovery following traumatic brain injury in the rat hippocampus显示文摘BACKGROUND:Endogenous neural progenitor cells play a beneficial role for cognitive recovery following traumatic brain injury.However,there are few classification-control studies aimed at varying graded brain trauma.OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of adult endogenous neurogenesis on cognitive function repair and regeneration of neural progenitor cells following varying graded traumatic hippocampal injury to determine the significance of endogenous neurogenesis in the repair of brain injury.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed at the Key Laboratory of Injuries,Variations and Regeneration of Nervous System,Tianjin Medical University General Hospital,from February to October 2009.MATERIALS:Mouse anti-rat 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) and neuronal nuclei (NeuN) monoclonal antibodies were purchased from Millipore Corporation,USA.METHODS:A total of 45 Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups.Mild and severe injury groups were respectively subjected to (182 ± 2) kPa and (284 ± 4) kPa lateral fluid percussion to establish models of brain injury,and the control group was subjected to surgery with no lateral fluid percussion.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Cognitive function was estimated using the Morris water maze.Proliferation,survival,and differentiation of newly generated cells in the injured hippocampus were observed through the use of immunofluorescent staining.RESULTS:At 7 days post-injury,the number of BrdU+ cells in the hippocampal dentate gyrus significantly increased in the mild and severe injury groups compared with the control group (P < 0.01).At 61 days post-injury,the number of BrdU+/NeuN+ cells in the hippocampal dentate gyrus was significantly greater in the mild injury group compared with the severe injury and control groups (P < 0.01).In addition,the control group exhibited the greatest proportion of surviving cells that differentiated into mature neurons compared with the injury groups (P < 0.01).Moreover,at 61 days post-injury,cognitive function in rats with mild injury recovered to normal levels,whereas the severe injury group exhibited cognitive deficits (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:Traumatic brain injury may be a stimulation factor for proliferation of neural progenitor cells in the adult hippocampus but severe brain trauma does not lead to an increased number of newly generated cells.Endogenous adult neurogenesis repairs neurological functions to an extent.However,recovery of neurological function remains limited following severe traumatic brain injury.Wangmiao Zhao Linchun Huan Yan Zhao Jie Zhao Qi Zhang Lin Zhang Rong Yan Shuyuan Yang Xinyu Yang 2010Neural Regeneration Research2010,5,9:2
