4Interface structure prediction via CALYPSO method显示文摘The atomistic structures of solid–solid interfaces are of fundamental interests for understanding physical properties of interfacial materials. However, determination of interface structures faces a substantial challenge, both experimentally and theoretically. Here, we propose an efficient method for predicting interface structures via the generalization of our in-house developed CALYPSO method for structure prediction. We devised a lattice match toolkit that allows us to automatically search for the optimal latticematched superlattice for construction of the interface structures. In addition, bonding constraints(e.g.,constraints on interatomic distances and coordination numbers of atoms) are imposed to generate better starting interface structures by taking advantages of the known bonding environment derived from the stable bulk phases. The interface structures evolve by following interfacially confined swarm intelligence algorithm, which is known to be efficient for exploration of potential energy surface. The method was validated by correctly predicting a number of known interface structures with only given information of two parent solids. The application of the developed method leads to prediction of two unknown grain boundary(GB) structures(r-GB and p-GB) of rutile TiO_2 ∑5(2 1 0) under an O reducing atmosphere that contained Ti^(3+)as the result of O defects. Further calculations revealed that the intrinsic band gap of p-GB is reduced to 0.7 eV owing to substantial broadening of the Ti-3 d interfacial levels from Ti^(3+)centers.Our results demonstrated that introduction of grain boundaries is an effective strategy to engineer the electronic properties and thus enhance the visible-light photoactivity of TiO_2.Bo Gao Pengyue Gao Shaohua Lu Jian Lv Yanchao Wang Yanming Ma 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,5:4

6Contrasting effects of nitrogen addition on litter decomposition in forests and grasslands in China显示文摘Nitrogen(N)addition has profound impacts on litter-mediated nutrient cycling.Numerous studies have reported different effects of N addition on litter decomposition,exhibiting positive,negative,or neutral effects.Previous meta-analysis of litter decomposition under N addition was mainly based on a small number of samples to allow comparisons among ecosystem types.This study presents the results of a meta-analysis incorporating data from 53 published studies(including 617 observations)across forests,grasslands,wetlands,and croplands in China,to investigate how environmental and experimental factors impact the effects of N addition on litter decomposition.Averaged across all of the studies,N addition significantly slows litter decomposition by 7.02%.Considering ecosystem types,N addition significantly accelerates litter decomposition by 3.70%and 11.22%in grasslands and wetlands,respectively,clearly inhibits litter decomposition by 14.53%in forests,and has no significant effects on litter decomposition in croplands.Regarding the accelerated litter decomposition rate in grasslands due to N addition,litter decomposition rate increases slightly with increasing rates of N addition.However,N addition slows litter decomposition in forests,but litter decomposition is at a significantly increasing rate with increasing amounts of N addition.The responses of litter decomposition to N addition are also influenced by the forms of N addition,experiential duration of N addition,humidity index,litter quality,and soil pH.In summary,N addition alters litter decomposition rate,but the direction and magnitude of the response are affected by the forms of N addition,the rate of N addition,ambient N deposition,experimental duration,and climate factors.Our study highlights the contrasting effects of N addition on litter decomposition in forests and grasslands.This finding could be used in biogeochemical models to better evaluate ecosystem carbon cycling under increasing N deposition due to the differential responses of litter decomposition to N addition rates and ecosystem types.SU Yuan MA Xiaofei GONG Yanming LI Kaihui HAN Wenxuan LIU Xuejun 2021Journal of Arid Land2021,13,7:2
7A New High-resolution Late Glacial-Holocene Climatic Record from Eastern Nanling Mountains in South China显示文摘A 350-cm-long sediment core sequence from Dahu Swamp situated in the eastern Nanling Mountains was selected for high-resolution paleoclimatic reconstruction since the Late Glacial period. The multi-proxy records of this paper reveal several evidently dry and cold events that may coincide with the Oldest Dryas, the Older Dryas, the Younger Dryas in the late deglacial period. Two relatively wetter and warmer phases occurred in ca. 15,000-14,400 cal yr B.P. and 13,500-12,800 cal yr B.P. respectively may correspond to the Blling and Allerd warming events. The Younger Dryas event (ca. 12,800-11,500 cal yr B.P.) revealed by multi-proxies was characterized by relatively colder and drier climate. A warmer and wetter climate, occurred in ca. 10,000-6000 cal yr B.P., was consistent with the Holocene Optimum, which coincided with the maximum Northern Hemisphere insolation. The '8.2kyr cool event' and even the '8.8kyr cool event' were indicated as well from our sediment core. 12Direct H-He chemical association in superionic FeO_(2)H_(2)He at deep-Earth conditions显示文摘Hydrogen and helium are known to play crucial roles in geological and astrophysical environments;however,they are inert toward each other across wide pressure-temperature(P-T)conditions.Given their prominent presence and influence on the formation and evolution of celestial bodies,it is of fundamental interest to explore the nature of interactions between hydrogen and helium.Using an advanced crystal structure search method,we have identified a quaternary compound FeO_(2)H_(2)He stabilized in a wide range of P-T conditions.Ab initio molecular dynamics simulations further reveal a novel superionic state of FeO_(2)H_(2)He hosting liquid-like diffusive hydrogen in the FeO_(2)He sublattice,creating a conducive environment for H-He chemical association,at P-T conditions corresponding to the Earth’s lowest mantle regions.To our surprise,this chemically facilitated coalescence of otherwise immiscible molecular species highlights a promising avenue for exploring this long-sought but hitherto unattainable state of matter.This finding raises strong prospects for exotic H-He mixtures inside Earth and possibly also in other astronomical bodies.Jurong Zhang Hanyu Liu Yanming Ma Changfeng Chen 2022National Science Review2022,9,7:1

14The first application of isoindigo-based polymers in non-fullerene organic solar cells显示文摘Although isoindigo(IID)-based polymers can realize high charge mobility,these materials are currently confined to fullerenebased organic solar cells(OSCs).Herein,we designed a pair of alternative D-π-A type copolymers,PE71 and PE72,to expand the application in non-fullerene OSCs,where benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]thiophene(BDT),thieno[3,2-b]thiophene(TT)and IID units were used as D,A andπ-bridge,respectively.The aim of optimizing the length of alkyl chains on TT bridge is to ensure polymer solubility,crystallinity as well as miscibility with acceptor molecules.We find that PE71 and PE72 exhibit similar optical and electronic properties,but PE71 with shorter hexyl chain tends to aggregate into fiber-like structure.In the end,Y6 is selected as the electron acceptor because of suitable energy levels and complementary absorption spectrum.Finally,PE71:Y6 device realizes a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 12.03%,which is obviously higher than that of PE72:Y6 device(9.74%)and is also the highest value for IID-based photovoltaic polymers.The charge transport,molecular aggregation,film morphology and energy loss analysis were systematically investigated.The improved photovoltaic performance of PE71:Y6 mainly originates from the better interpenetrating network structure toward facilitating exciton seperation and free charge carrier transportation.Our results indicate that IID-based D-π-A polymers can also be utilized in non-fullerene OSCs and the alkyl chains on the thieno[3,2-b]thiopheneπ-bridge have a vital effect on the photovoltaic performance.Bao Zhang Ning An Hongbo Wu Yanfang Geng Yanming Sun Zaifei Ma Weiwei Li Qiang Guo Erjun Zhou 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,9:1

17Effects of Different Picking Time and Different Geographical Provenances on Oil Content of Camellia oleifera显示文摘This paper studied effects of different picking time and different geographical provenances on oil content of Camellia oleifera. The results showed that different picking time had significant effects on the oil content of cold dew seeds and frost's descent seeds. With the delay of picking time,the oil content of cold dew seeds,frost's descent seeds,dry seeds and oil content of seed kernels were significantly increased.There was a significantly positive correlation between the oil content of fresh fruit of cold dew seeds and frost's descent seeds and the dry seed yield of fresh seeds and the oil content of fresh fruit( P < 0. 05),and the correlation coefficient was greater than 0. 85. Besides,the oil content of seed kernels of cold dew seeds was closely correlated with the seed yield of fresh seeds,oil content of fresh fruit,and oil content of fresh seeds. In the process of C. oleifera breeding,the thin coat,high seed yield and high oil content can be taken as the key research directions for future breeding. The oil content of ordinary C. oleifera seeds in 18 counties( cities) was 36. 42%-63. 33%,indicating that there were significant differences in the oil content of C. oleifera in different geographical provenances. In conclusion,according to the study of different picking time,the recommended picking time of cold dew seeds in Hunan area is around October 10,while the best picking time of frost's descent seeds is about October 30. The oil content of C. oleifera fruit in different geographical provenances is quite different.
