1High aluminum concentration and initial establishment of Handroanthus impetiginosus : clues about an Al non-resistant species in Brazilian Cerrado显示文摘Cerrado soils are acidic and nutrient-poor,with high content of solubilized Al 3+.Plants growing in these conditions may display adaptations to cope with high aluminum concentrations especially during early developmental stages.We investigated leaf nutritional status,and photosynthetic and growth characteristics during the initial establishment of Handroanthus impetiginosus(Mart.Ex Dc.)Mattos,a secondary tree species distributed in the Brazilian Cerrado.Our goal was to understand leaf-level traits related to diff erent aluminum concentrations.H.impetiginosus plants were cultivated in four diff erent aluminum sulfate concentrations:0,1,2,and 4 mM Al,for 40 days.We performed analyses of growth,leaf gas exchange,chloroplast pigment content,and leaf mineral nutrients.We observed a linear increase of Al leaf content as a function of Al concentration in the nutrient solution.Plants grown in 1 mM Al showed a remarkable increase of K leaf content,net photosynthesis,stomatal conductance,and transpiration,while in 4 mM Al there were reductions of N,P,and K contents,gas exchange characteristics,and height.H.impetiginosus did not have mechanisms of avoidance,compartmentalization,or resistance to high Al concentrations.Indeed,this species showed a hormetic response,with low Al concentrations stimulating and high Al concentrations inhibiting plant responses.Ane Marcela das Chagas Mendon ca Jean Marcel Sousa Lira Ana Luiza de Oliveira Vilela Daniel Amorim Vieira Nayara Cristina de Melo Joao Paulo Rodrigues Alves Delfi no Barbosa 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,6:1

6COVID-19 neuropsychiatric repercussions:Current evidence on the subject显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection has affected the entire world,causing the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic since it was first discovered in Wuhan,China in December 2019.Among the clinical presentation of the disease,in addition to fever,fatigue,cough,dyspnea,diarrhea,nausea,vomiting,and abdominal pain,infected patients may also experience neurological and psychiatric repercussions during the course of the disease and as a post-COVID-19 sequelae.Thus,headache,dizziness,olfactory and gustatory dysfunction,cerebrovascular disorders,neuromuscular abnormalities,anxiety,depression,and post-traumatic stress disorder can occur both from the infection itself and from social distancing and quarantine.According to current evidence about this infection,the virus has the ability to infect the central nervous system(CNS)via angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)receptors on host cells.Several studies have shown the presence of ACE2 in nerve cells and nasal mucosa,as well as transmembrane serine protease 2,key points for interaction with the viral Spike glycoprotein and entry into the CNS,being olfactory tract and blood-brain barrier,through hematogenous dissemination,potential pathways.Thus,the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in the CNS supports the development of neuropsychiatric symptoms.The management of these manifestations seems more complex,given that the dense parenchyma and impermeability of brain tissue,despite protecting the brain from the infectious process,may hinder virus elimination.Still,some alternatives used in non-COVID-19 situations may lead to worse prognosis of acute respiratory syndrome,requiring caution.Therefore,the aim of this review is to bring more current points related to this infection in the CNS,as well as the repercussions of the isolation involved by the pandemic and to present perspectives on interventions in this scenario.Ronaldo Teixeira da Silva Júnior Jonathan Santos Apolonio Beatriz Rocha Cuzzuol Bruna Teixeira da Costa Camilo Santana Silva Glauber Rocha Lima Araújo Marcel Silva Luz Hanna Santos Marques Luana Kauany de SáSantos Samuel Luca Rocha Pinheiro Vinícius Lima de Souza Gonçalves Mariana Santos Calmon Fabrício Freire de Melo 2022World Journal of Methodology2022,12,5:0
7Multiomic investigation of Sugarcane mosaic virus resistance in sugarcane显示文摘Sugarcane mosaic virus(SCMV)is the main etiological agent of sugarcane mosaic disease,which affects sugarcane and other grass crops.Despite the extensive characterization of quantitative trait loci controlling resistance to SCMV in maize,the genetic basis of this trait in sugarcane is largely unexplored.Here,a genome-wide association study was performed and machine learning coupled with feature selection was used for genomic prediction of resistance to SCMV in a diverse sugarcane panel.Nine single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)explained up to 29.9%of the observed phenotypic variance and a 73-SNP set predicted resistance with high accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 scores(the harmonic mean of precision and recall).Both marker sets were validated in additional sugarcane genotypes,in which the SNPs explained up to 23.6%of the phenotypic variation and predicted resistance with a maximum accuracy of 69.1%.Synteny analyses suggested that the gene responsible for the majority of SCMV resistance in maize is absent in sugarcane,explaining why this major resistance source has not been identified in this crop.Finally,using sugarcane RNA-Seq data,markers associated with resistance to SCMV were annotated,and a gene coexpression network was constructed to identify the predicted biological processes involved in resistance.This network allowed the identification of candidate resistance genes and confirmed the involvement of stress responses,photosynthesis,and the regulation of transcription and translation in resistance to SCMV.These results provide a practical marker-assisted breeding approach for sugarcane and identify target genes for future studies of SCMV resistance.Ricardo JoséGonzaga Pimenta Alexandre Hild Aono Roberto Carlos Villavicencio Burbano Marcel Fernando da Silva Ivan Antônio dos Anjos Marcos Guimarães de Andrade Landell Marcos Cesar Gonçalves Luciana Rossini Pinto Anete Pereira de Souza 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,6:0

9Helicobacter pylori infection in pregnant women:Gastrointestinal symptoms and pregnancy-related disorders显示文摘Helicobacter pylori(H.Pylori)is a gram-negative,flagellated and spiral-shaped bacterial pathogen that impacts approximately 46%among pregnant women globally and has been associated with various maternal-fetal complications.Iron deficiency anemia,fetal growth restriction,cardiovascular diseases,and insufficient nutrient absorption can be observed in pregnant women,as well as miscarriages and pregnancy-specific hypertensive disease,such as pre-eclampsia.Thus,the evidence supports the influence of H.pylori infection on fetal implantation/placentation failure,and positive strains of the cytotoxin-associated gene A of H.Pylori were reported as the most prevalent in these conditions.However,current knowledge indicates a relationship between this infection and the occurrence of hyperemesis gravidarum,characterized by frequent nausea and vomiting.Regarding the diagnosis of this bacterial infection,non-invasive approaches such as stool antigen test,urea breath test,and serological tests are more accepted during pregnancy,as they are easy to carry out and cost-effective.Finally,the bacteria eradication therapy should consider the risks and benefits for the pregnant woman and her child,with pharmacological intervention depending on the clinical presentation.Luana Kauany de SáSantos Jonathan Santos Apolonio Beatriz Rocha Cuzzuol Bruna Teixeira da Costa Vinícius Lima de Souza Gonçalves Ronaldo Teixeira da Silva Júnior Marcel Silva Luz Fabian Fellipe Bueno Lemos Samuel Luca Rocha Pinheiro Fabrício Freire de Melo 2023World Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases2023,13,5:0
