1Preparation and characterization of a composite membrane based on the asphaltene component of coal显示文摘Asphaltene-ceramic composite membranes were fabricated from ceramic supports and an asphaltene component, which was obtained from the separation of coal to give a kind of new carbonaceous precursor material. Using SEM and thermogravimetric analysis to measure the microstructure and properties of the asphaltene component allowed the porosity, permeability, and retention ratios to be determined. The results show that the asphaltene component can be regarded as a good carbon membrane precursor material because of its high carbon content and strong bonding capacity. When ceramic supports are impregnated with asphaltene colloid the asphaltene easily combines with the support surface and forms a good carbonaceous film after carbonization. Little of the asphaltene component permeates into the internal pores of the ceramic support. Although the number of coats applied to the substrate had little affect on the porosity of the asphaltene-ceramic composite membranes the permeability varied depending upon the number of times the substrate was treated. The way bubbles escape from the film, and the phenomenon of coalescence, as affected by different film thicknesses also seem closely related to the number of coats. A composite membrane carbonized at a final temperature of 600 °C is relatively dense and the permeability of Fe(OH) 3 colloid through it is very low. 2A perspective on the electrocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide to methanol with metallomacrocyclic catalysts显示文摘Electrocatalytic carb on dioxide reducti on(CO_(2)R)presents a promising route to establish zero-e mission carb on cycle and store in termittent ren ewable energy into chemical fuels for steady energy supply.Methanol is an ideal energy carrier as alternative fuels and one of the most important commodity chemicals.Nevertheless,methanol is currently mainly produced from fossil-based syngas,the production of which yields tremendous carb on emission globally.Direct CO_(2)R towards metha nol poses great potential to shift the paradigm of methanol production.In this perspective,we focus our discussions on producing methanol from electrochemical CO_(2)R,using metallomacrocyclic molecules as the model catalysts.We discuss the motivation of having methanol as the sole CO_(2)R product,the documented application of metallomacrocyclic catalysts for CO_(2)R,and recent advance in catalyzing CO_(2) to methanol with cobalt phthalocyanine-based catalysts.We attempt to understand the key factors in determining the activity,selectivity,and stability of electrocatalytic CO_(2)-to-methanol conversion,and to draw mechanistic insights from existing observations.Finally,we identify the challenges hindering methanol electrosynthesis directly from CO_(2) and some intriguing directions worthy of further investigation and exploration.Xinyan Liu Bo-Quan Li Bing Ni Lei Wang Hong-Jie Peng 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,1:3
3Microstructure and mechanical properties of B_4C-TiB_2-Al composites fabricated by vacuum infiltration显示文摘B4C-TiB2-Al composites were fabricated by infiltrating aluminum into porous B4C-TiB2 preforms in vacuum. The microstucture and mechanical properties of the B4C-TiB2-Al composites were investigated. The hardness decreased, the flexural strength increased, and the fracture toughness first increased and then decreased slightly with an increase in TiB2 content. The B4C-TiB2-Al composite with 40wt.% TiB2 showed the optimized properties. The infiltrated aluminum addition was the leading reason for the fracture toughness improvement of the composites. The tear ridges and dimples on the fracture surface of the composites increased gradually with the increase of infiltrated aluminum content showing inter/transgranular fracture mode. 6A generalizable, data-driven online approach to forecast capacity degradation trajectory of lithium batteries显示文摘Estimating battery degradation is vital not only to monitor battery’s state-of-health but also to accelerate research on new battery chemistries. Herein, we present a data-driven approach to forecast the capacity fading trajectory of lab-assembled lithium batteries. Features with physical meanings in addition to predictive abilities are extracted from discharge voltage curves, enabling online prediction for a single cell with only its historical data. The robustness and generalizability allow for the demonstration on a compromised quality dataset consisting of batteries varying in battery architectures and cycling conditions,with superior accuracy for end of life and degradation trajectory prediction with average errors of 8.2%and 2.8%, respectively. Apart from the impressive prediction accuracy, the as-extracted features also provide physical insights, the incorporation of which into material design or battery operation conditions further enlightens the development of better batteries. 18Study on the COVID-19 epidemic in China's Mainland between November 2022 and January 2023,with prediction of its tendency显示文摘The prediction system EpiSIX was used to study the COVID-19 epidemic in China's Mainland between November 2022 and January 2023,based on reported data from December 9,2022,to January 30,2023,released by The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on February 1,2023.Three kinds of reported data were used for model fitting:the daily numbers of positive nucleic acid tests and deaths,and the daily number of hospital beds taken by COVID-19 patients.It was estimated that the overall infection rate was 87.54%and the overall case fatality rate was 0.078%–0.116%(median 0.100%).Assuming that a new COVID-19 epidemic outbreak would start in March or April of 2023,induced by a slightly more infectious mutant strain,we predicted a possible large rebound between September and October 2023,with a peak demand of between 800,000 and 900,000 inpatient beds.If no such new outbreak was induced by other variants,then the current COVID-19 epidemic course in China's Mainland would remain under control until the end of 2023.However,it is suggested that the necessary medical resources be prepared to manage possible COVID-19 epidemic emergencies in the near future,especially for the period between September and October 2023.Yao Bai Zhihang Peng Fengying Wei Zhen Jin Jinjie Wang Ximing Xu Xinyan Zhang Jun Xu Zixiong Ren Bulai Lu Zhaojun Wang Jianguo Xu Senzhong Huang 2023Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2023,5,1:1
