| 3 | The vernalization-induced long non-coding RNA VAS functions with the transcription factor TaRF2b to promote TaVRN1 expression for flowering in hexaploid wheat显示文摘Vernalization is a physiological process in which prolonged cold exposure establishes flowering competence in winter plants. In hexaploid wheat, TaVRN1 is a cold-induced key regulator that accelerates floral transition. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the gradual activation of TaVRN1 during the vernalization process remains unknown. In this study, we identified the novel transcript VAS (TaVRN1 alternative splicing) as a non-coding RNA derived from the sense strand of the TaVRN1 gene only in winter wheat, which regulates TaVRN1 transcription for flowering. VAS was induced during the early period of vernalization, and its overexpression promoted TaVRN1 expression to accelerate flowering in winter wheat. VAS physically associates with TaRF2b and facilitates docking of the TaRF2b-TaRF2a complex at the TaVRN1 promoter during the middle period of vernalization. TaRF2b recognizes the Sp1 motif within the TaVRN1 proximal promoter region, which is gradually exposed along with the disruption of a loop structure at the TaVRN1 locus during vernalization, to activate the transcription of TaVRN1. The tarf2b mutants exhibited delayed flowering, whereas transgenic wheat lines overexpressing TaRF2b showed earlier flowering. | 4 | FeNi nanoparticles on Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x)MXene@nickel foam as robust electrocatalysts for overall water splitting显示文摘The development of cost-effective electrocatalysts for overall water splitting is highly desirable,remaining a critical challenge at current stage.Herein,a class of composite FeNi@MXene(Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x))@nickel foam(NF)has been synthesized through introducing Fe2+ions and in-situ combining with surface nickel atoms on nickel foam.The obtained FeNi@Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x)@NF exhibited high activity with overpotentials of 165 and 190 mV for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)at a current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2),respectively.The synergetic effects of Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x)and FeNi nanoalloys lead to increasing catalytic activities,where MXene provides high active surface area and rich active sites for HER,and FeNi nanoalloys promote the OER.Theoretical simulation of electron exchange capacity between FeNi and MXene in FeNi@Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x)catalyst shows that electrons transferred from surface Mo atoms to the interface between FeNi and MXene,indicating that the electrons are accumulated near the FeNi nanoparticles.This kind of electronic distribution facilitates the formation of intermediate of NiOOH.Correspondingly,(H++e-)is more inclined onto Mo-Ni interfaces for HER.The Gibbs free energy changes for H*to HER and potential-limiting step for-OOH intermediate in OER over FeNi@Mo_(2)TiC_(2)T_(x)are much less than those on bare MXene.The catalyst can be further used for overall water splitting in alkaline solution,realizing a current density of 50 mA·cm^(-2)at 1.74 V.This work provides a facile strategy to achieve efficient and cheap catalysts for new energy production. | Jiayang Wang Peilei He Yongli Shen Linxiu Dai Zhe Li Yue Wu Changhua An | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,10: | 5 |

| 6 | Do green spaces affect the spatiotemporal changes of PM_(2.5) in Nanjing?显示文摘Introduction:Among the most dangerous pollutants is PM_(2.5),which can directly pass through human lungs and move into the blood system.The use of nature-based solutions,such as increased vegetation cover in an urban landscape,is one of the possible solutions for reducing PM_(2.5) concentration.Our study objective was to understand the importance of green spaces in pollution reduction.Methods:Daily PM_(2.5) concentrations were manually collected at nine monitoring stations in Nanjing over a 534-day period from the air quality report of the China National Environmental Monitoring Center(CNEMC)to quantify the spatiotemporal change of PM_(2.5) concentration and its empirical relationship with vegetation and landscape structure in Nanjing.Results:The daily average,minimum,and maximum PM_(2.5) concentrations from the nine stations were 74.0,14.2,and 332.0μg m^(−3),respectively.Out of the 534 days,the days recorded as“excellent”and“good”conditions were found mostly in the spring(30.7%),autumn(25.6%),and summer(24.5%),with only 19.2% of the days in the winter.High PM_(2.5) concentrations exceeding the safe standards of the CNEMC were recorded predominately during the winter(39.3-100.0%).Our hypothesis that green vegetation had the potential to reduce PM_(2.5) concentration was accepted at specific seasons and scales.The PM_(2.5) concentration appeared very highly correlated(R2>0.85)with green cover in spring at 1-2 km scales,highly correlated(R2>0.6)in autumn and winter at 4 km scale,and moderately correlated in summer(R2>0.4)at 2-,5-,and 6-km scales.However,a non-significant correlation between green cover and PM_(2.5) concentration was found when its level was>75μg m^(−3).Across the Nanjing urban landscape,the east and southwest parts had high pollution levels.Conclusions:Although the empirical models seemed significant for spring only,one should not devalue the importance of green vegetation in other seasons because the regulations are often complicated by vegetation,meteorological conditions,and human activities. | Jiquan Chen Liuyan Zhu Peilei Fan Li Tian Raffaele Lafortezza | 2016 | Ecological Processes2016,5,1: | 3 |

| 8 | Effects of cultivation of Osr HSA transgenic rice on functional diversity of microbial communities in the soil rhizosphere显示文摘With the widespread cultivation of transgenic crops, there is increasing concern about unintended effects of these crops on soil environmental quality. In this study, we used the Biolog method and ELISA to evaluate the possible effects of Osr HSA transgenic rice on soil microbial utilization of carbon substrates under field conditions. There were no significant differences in average well-color development(AWCD) values, Shannon–Wiener diversity index(H), Simpson dominance indices(D) and Shannon–Wiener evenness indices(E) of microbial communities in rhizosphere soils at eight samplings between Osr HSA transgenic rice and its non-transgenic counterpart. The main carbon sources utilized by soil microbes were carbohydrates, carboxylic acids, amino acids and polymers. The types,capacities and patterns of carbon source utilization by microbial communities in rhizosphere soils were similar throughout the detection period. We detected no Osr HSA protein in the roots of Osr HSA transgenic rice. | 9 | Applying DNA Barcoding to Identify Actinidia in the Northeast of China显示文摘Identification of kiwifruit germplasm materials is the basis of protecting and utilizing these resources. However,identifying Actinidia arguta varieties based on morphology is difficult,especially for non-specialists. In this study,we collected 180 specimens comprising 60 varieties of three species( A. arguta,A. kolomikta,and A. polygama) from the Northeast of China. The emphasis of our study was on the feasibility of identifying A. arguta varieties. Here,we used common analysis methods( genetic distance,phylogenetic analysis and the DNA barcoding gap) and SNPs analysis to evaluate the discriminatory power of different DNA barcoding markers. The results revealed that common methods were insufficient to identify A. arguta varieties but SNPs analysis based on DNA barcoden was the potential method for identifying A. arguta varieties. | 10 | Designing heterostructured FeP–CoP for oxygen evolution reaction:Interface engineering to enhance electrocatalytic performance显示文摘It is significant to develop highly efficient electrocatalysts for energy conversion systems.Interface engineering is one of the most feasible approaches to effectively enhance the electrocatalytic activity.Herein,the density functional theory(DFT)calculations predict that the potential barriers of Fe sites at the interface of FeP–CoP heterostructures are lower than that of Fe sites in FeP nanoparticles(NPs),Co sites in CoP NPs,or Co sites in heterostructures.Motivated by the DFT calculation results,FeP–CoP heterostructures have been designed and synthesized by a metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)confined-phosphorization method.The FeP–CoP exhibits the lowest overpotential of 230 mV at the current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2)for oxygen evolution reaction(OER),compared with FeP(470 mV)and CoP(340 mV),which outperforms most of transition metal-based catalysts.The Tafel analysis of FeP–CoP heterostructures shows an improved reaction kinetic pathway with the smallest slope of 90.3 mV·dec^(−1),as compared to the Tafel slopes of FeP NPs(137 mV·dec^(−1))and CoP NPs(114 mV·dec^(−1)).And the FeP–CoP shows extraordinary long-term stability over 24 h.The excellent activity and long-term stability of FeP–CoP derive from the synergistic effect between FeP and CoP. | Shuang Hou Ansai Zhang Qi Zhou Yingjie Wen Sixie Zhang Linfeng Su Xinjie Huang Tian Wang Kun Rui Cheng Wang Huiling Liu Zhiyi Lu Peilei He | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 2 |
