1Recognition on the forming-vanishing process and underlying mechanisms of the hypoxia off the Yangtze River estuary显示文摘On the basis of compiled multidisciplinary historical data in 2006–2007 and incorporation of relevant simulation results and remote sensing data, we performed an in-depth study of the generation and dissipation process of the hypoxic zone and its distribution morphology and structure off the Yangtze River estuary. Based on the hydrological circulation dynamics, reproduction of phytoplankton(leading to the decomposition of organic matter), and other factors, we comprehensively and systematically investigated the generation and dissipation of the hypoxic zone and underlying mechanisms for the seasonal variation in its position, explored the multi-factorial synergistic reactions during the generation and dissipation process of the hypoxic zone, and revealed the controlled mechanism for the morphology and structure of the hypoxic zone's distribution. Our studies indicate that in the winter and spring seasons, the hydrological environment off the Yangtze River estuary provides a water body with relatively low contents of dissolved oxygen(DO), which is the background for the formation of a hypoxic zone. After entering into the summer season, the hypoxic zone gradually develops towards the north and becomes mature. Because of the impact of the terrain, local decomposition of organic matter, and upwelling of the Kuroshio subsurface water in July–August, the hypoxic zone off the Yangtze River estuary exhibits the characteristics of discontinuous distribution in space and has a south and north 'dual-core' structure in the inner continental shelf. In addition, there is a hypoxic core in the eastern outer continental shelf. The degrees of hypoxia vary for different areas; they are strongest overall in the north, next strongest in the south; they are weakest on the outer continental shelf. In summer, the hypoxic zone in the north is related to the northward differentiation of the southern hypoxic zone and results from local development and intensification. In August, the hypoxic zone in the north reaches its peak, and after September, it rapidly retreats southward and disappears because of weakening stratification. In the fall, there is hypoxic zone along the coast of Zhejiang in the south, and there is also a low-DO area to the southwest of Jeju Island, with both zones disappearing rapidly. In addition, the change of dynamic environment also causes the low-DO area of the outer continental shelf to move outward in the fall. The variation in the intensity of the stratification and its cumulative effects as a barrier of vertical DO transportation over long periods of time have a significant impact on the degree of hypoxia in the hypoxic zone. In addition, the seasonal variations in the size of the stratified region, intensity of each current system/water mass, upwelling, front, and high-value area of phytoplankton biomass jointly restrict the extension of the hypoxic zone in the inner continental shelf and latitudinal(south-north direction) movement of its location off the Yangtze River estuary. The combined effect of dynamic factors, such as that of the Kuroshio subsurface water, causes a low-DO core in the outer continental shelf. The bottom cold water to the north of the East China Sea is the dynamic basis for the formation of the low-DO area to the southwest of Jeju Island during the fall season. The special seabed topography and mud area distribution off the Yangtze River estuary have a certain degree of influence on the development of the hypoxic zone. 3Mechanisms leading to the frequent occurrences of hypoxia and a preliminary analysis of the associated acidification off the Changiiang estuary in summer显示文摘Based on literature data and shipboard observations,this study investigated the main environmental characteristics of the seafloor topography,current field,front,and upwelling that are closely related to hypoxia occurrence off the Changjiang estuary.The physical processes of the plume front and upwelling off the Changjiang estuary in summer were coupled.The vertical distribution pattern of the plume front was closely related to the upwelling.By reviewing and analyzing the historical summer hypoxia events off the Changjiang estuary,we statistically demonstrated the spatial structure of the horizontal distribution of the hypoxic zone and investigated the location of occurrence zone of the hypoxia.We found that the dissolved oxygen(DO)concentration on the inner continental shelf off the estuary showed a'V'shape in relation to station depth.Therefore,we noted that the hypoxic water on the inner continental shelf mostly occurred on the slopes with steep seafloor topography.Base on the current understanding of the hypoxic mechanisms off the Changjiang estuary,we analyzed the biogeochemical mechanisms that could cause the steep terrain off the Changjiang estuary to become the main areas prone to summer hypoxia and explained the internal relations between the location of the hypoxic zone on the slopes and the plume front and upwelling.The plume front and upwelling off the Changjiang estuary and their coupling were important driving forces of summer hypoxia.The continuous supply of nutrients affected by the interaction of the plume front extension of the Changjiang Diluted Water(CDW)and upwelling and the favorable light conditions were important mechanisms causing the phytoplankton blooms and benthic hypoxia off the Changjiang estuary in summer.By analyzing oxygen utilization,organic carbon mineralization,and nutrient regeneration in the hypoxic zone,we observed that the significant oxygen utilization process off the Changjiang estuary in summer also mainly occurred near the steep slopes with front and upwelling features and confirmed the apparent nutrient loss in the benthic hypoxic zone.Meanwhile,our analysis revealed that the sediment resuspension in the benthic boundary layer in the mud areas off the Changjiang estuary could also affect the oxygen utilization and mineralization of organic carbon and nutrient recycling and regeneration.This study also demonstrated that the steep terrain off the Changjiang estuary was the main location for summer acidification,and the coupling between the plume front and upwelling on the steep slopes was an important physical driving force inducing summer benthic acidification.Finally,we discussed issues to address in future studies of the hypoxic zone and water acidification off the Changjiang estuary.WEI QinSheng WANG BaoDong YU ZhiGang CHEN JianFang XUE Liang 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,2:5
4Relaxation oscillations induced by an order gap between exciting frequency and natural frequency显示文摘The main purpose of the paper is to display the relaxation oscillations, known as the bursting phenomena, for the coupled oscillators with periodic excitation with an order gap between the exciting frequency and the natural frequency. For the case when the exciting frequency is much smaller than the natural frequency, different types of bursting oscillations such as fold/fold, Hopf/Hopf bursting oscillations can be observed. By regarding the whole exciting term as a slow-varying parameter on the fact that the exciting term changes on a much smaller time scale, bifurcations sets of the generalized autonomous system is derived, which divide the parameter space into several regions associated with different types of dynamical behaviors. Two cases with typical bifurcation patterns are focused on as examples to explore the dynamical evolution with the variation of the amplitude of the external excitation. Bursting oscillations which alternate between quiescent states (QSs) and repetitive spiking states (SPs) can be obtained, the mechanism of which is presented by introducing the transformed phase portraits overlapping with the bifurcation diagrams of the generalized autonomous system. It is found that not only the forms of QSs and SPs, but also the bifurcations at the transition points between QSs and SPs, may influence the structures of bursting attractors. 7Physical-biogeochemical interactions and potential effects on phytoplankton and Ulva prolifera in the coastal waters off Qingdao(Yellow Sea, China)显示文摘In recent years, the spectacular massive green tide of Ulva prolifera has become a recurrent phenomenon appearing every summer in the coastal waters off Qingdao(Yellow Sea, China), attracting the attention of scientists and local government. Based on multidisciplinary data collected during summer and winter, this study focuses on the hydrological characteristics and regional biogeochemical processes in coastal waters off Qingdao.The results show that the boundary of the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass(YSCWM) can reach the Qingdao coastal region in summer and is locally raised to the upper layers to form coastal upwelling beyond tidal mixing and favorable wind. The regional summer upwelling off the Qingdao coast effectively enriches the nutrient concentrations in the upper water column and thus promotes growth of phytoplankton but reduces the dissolved oxygen(DO) concentration and pH value in the bottom. The regional summer upwelling off Qingdao coast may facilitate the growth and regional blooming of the U. prolifera that migrate to this region with the southerly wind.Additionally, the effects of the front on the aggregation of U. prolifera may be significant. In winter, the Yellow Sea Warm Current(YSWC) extends and spreads along the offshore region off the Subei Shoal towards the Qingdao coastal sea. This tongue-shaped warm water meets the cold coastal water off Qingdao, which leads to the formation of a physical front. As a consequence, remarkable fronts of nutrient and chlorophyll a(Chl a) also form between the shoreward warm water and the cold coastal water. 8Random testing for system-level functional verification of system-on-chip显示文摘In order to deal with the limitations during the register transfer level verification, a new functional verification method based on the random testing for the system-level of system-on-chip is proposed.The validity of this method is proven theoretically.Specifically, testcases are generated according to many approaches of randomization.Moreover, the testbench for the system-level verification according to the proposed method is designed by using advanced modeling language.Therefore, under the circumstances that the testbench generates testcases quickly, the hardware/software co-simulation and co-verification can be implemented and the hardware/software partitioning planning can be evaluated easily.The comparison method is put to use in the evaluation approach of the testing validity.The evaluation result indicates that the efficiency of the partition testing is better than that of the random testing only when one or more subdomains are covered over with the area of errors, although the efficiency of the random testing is generally better than that of the partition testing.The experimental result indicates that this method has a good performance in the functional coverage and the cost of testing and can discover the functional errors as soon as possible.Ma Qinsheng Cao Yang Yang Jun Wang Min 2009Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2009,20,6:4
9Spatiotemporal variability of physical-biogeochemical processes and intrinsic correlations in the semi-enclosed South Yellow Sea显示文摘Investigating the spatiotemporal variability of biogeochemical processes and ecological responses under multiple physical controls in shelf seas is of great importance for obtaining an in-depth understanding of marine ecosystem.Based on a compiled data set of historical observations and remote sensing data,the spatiotemporal variability and heterogeneity of physical-biogeochemical processes in the semi-enclosed South Yellow Sea(SYS)are investigated,and the intrinsic connectivity among different subregions and the associated mechanisms are examined.The results show that the seasonal alternation between southward transport in cold seasons and upwelling-induced vertical delivery in warm seasons is the primary physical control of the biogeochemical processes and primary production off Shidao and in the area adjacent to the Haizhou Bay.The northeastward expansion of coastal waters in the Subei Shoal constitutes an important physical driver for the offshore transport of Ulva prolifera in summer.Stratification significantly affects the biogeochemical processes in the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass(YSCWM)-dominated area during warm seasons,and nutrients can accumulate in bottom waters from spring to autumn,making the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass(YSCWM)be an important nutrient pool.Upwelling around the YSCWM boundary in the stratified season leads to consistency among the high chlorophyll a(Chl a)area,high primary productivity region and low-temperature upwelling zone.During cold seasons,the interactions of the southward cold waters in the western nearshore area and the northward warm waters in the central region lead to an“S”-shaped front in the SYS.In summer,upwelling can extract nutrients from the YSCWM;thus,the biogeochemical-ecological processes inside the cold-water mass and in the frontal zone are well connected via upwelling,and three typical physical-biogeochemical coupling regions are generated,namely,the Shidao coast,the area beyond the Haizhou Bay and the area off the Subei Shoal.This work refines and integrates studies on regional oceanography in the SYS and provides a comprehensive and systematic framework of physical-biogeochemical-ecological processes.Qinsheng Wei Baodong Wang Mingzhu Fu Junchuan Sun Qingzhen Yao Ming Xin Zhigang Yu 2020Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,10:3

11Species-specific detection and quantification of scyphomedusae in Jiaozhou Bay,China,using a quantitative real-time PCR assay显示文摘Over the past decades,jellyfish occurred increasingly and abundantly in coastal areas worldwide.Usually,biomass of jellyfish,especially when they bloom,can be determined by visual counting.However,tiny individuals of jellyfish(e.g.,planulae,polyps,and ephyrae)are difficult to detect in the field.In this study,species-specific quantitative real-time PCR assays(qPCR)(SYBR Green I)targeting the mitochondrial 16S rDNA(mt-16S rDNA)of jellyfish were developed and were used to estimate the distribution and seasonal fluctuations of four jellyfish species(Nemopilema nomurai,Cyanea nozakii,Rhopilema esculentum,and Aurelia coerulea)in Jiaozhou Bay(JZB),China in 2013.The mt-16S rDNA of A.coerulea and N.nomurai was detected in most of the survey months and it peaked in July(1.03×10^(4) copies/L)and September(1.08×10^(6) copies/L),respectively.The mt-16S rDNA of C.nozakii occurred from August to October only with monthly mean values of 7.18-46.17 copies/L and was mainly located from the middle part to the outer part of the bay.The mt-16S rDNA of R.esculentum was the least abundant among the four species and was detected in only one sample(B2 station in March),with a value of 88.49 copies/L.The Spearman correlation test revealed that phytoplankton biomass was significantly and positively correlated with the mt-16S rDNA abundance of A.coerulea(R=0.37,P<0.01)and negatively with the mt-16S rDNA of N.nomurai(R=-0.36,P<0.01).The qPCR assay will enable the identification and quantification of jellyfish species in their whole life history and can be used as an approach in combination of the traditional jellyfish survey.Jianyan WANG Tiezhu MI Zhigang YU Guoshan WANG Qinsheng WEI Jing YANG Yu ZHEN 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,4:3

13Mixed mode oscillations as well as the bifurcation mechanism in a Duffing’s oscillator with two external periodic excitations显示文摘The main purpose of the paper is to present an approach to account for the mechanism of bursting oscillations occurring in the systems with multiple periodic excitations. Since the traditional slow-fast analysis method can be used only for the systems with two scales in time domain, when there exists an order gap between the exciting frequencies and the natural frequency, how to explore the mechanism of the complicated dynamics remains an open problem, especially for the case when two exciting terms exist. To explain our approach, a relative simple Duffing’s oscillator with two external periodic excitations is introduced as an example. For the case when one exciting frequency is integer times of the other exciting frequency, by employing Moivre’s equation, the two exciting terms can be transformed into the functions of one basic periodic exciting term. Regarding the basic periodic exciting term as a slow-varying parameter, the two exciting terms can be changed into the functions of the slow-varying parameter, based on which the whole model can be transformed into a generalized autonomous system with one slow-varying parameter. Equilibrium branches as well as the related bifurcations of the generalized autonomous system can be derived with the variations of the amplitudes of the two excitations, which describes the relationship between the state variables of the generalized autonomous system and the slow-varying parameter. Considering the slow-varying parameter as a generalized state variable, one may obtain the so-called transformed phase portraits, which present the relationship between the state variable and the slowvarying parameter. The bifurcation mechanism of the mixed oscillations can be obtained by overlapping the equilibrium branches and the transformed phase portraits. Upon the approach, different types of bursting oscillations are presented. It is pointed that when the trajectory moves almost strictly along the segments of the stable equilibrium branches to the fold bifurcation points, jumping phenomena to other stable equilibrium segments can be observed, leading to the repetitive spiking oscillations, which can be approximated by the transient procedure from the bifurcation points to the stable equilibrium segments. Furthermore, because of the distributions of stable segments on the equilibrium branches of the generalized autonomous system may vary with the exciting amplitudes, the forms of bursting oscillations may change. 16Research on the Freezing Phenomenon of Quantum Correlation by Machine Learning显示文摘Quantum correlation shows a fascinating nature of quantum mechanics and plays an important role in some physics topics,especially in the field of quantum information.Quantum correlations of the composite system can be quantified by resorting to geometric or entropy methods,and all these quantification methods exhibit the peculiar freezing phenomenon.The challenge is to find the characteristics of the quantum states that generate the freezing phenomenon,rather than only study the conditions which generate this phenomenon under a certain quantum system.In essence,this is a classification problem.Machine learning has become an effective method for researchers to study classification and feature generation.In this work,we prove that the machine learning can solve the problem of X form quantum states,which is a problem of physical significance.Subsequently,we apply the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)algorithm and the decision tree to divide quantum states into two different groups.Our goal is to classify the quantum correlations of quantum states into two classes:one is the quantum correlation with freezing phenomenon for both Rènyi discord(α=2)and the geometric discord(Bures distance),the other is the quantum correlation of non-freezing phenomenon.The results demonstrate that the machine learning method has reasonable performance in quantum correlation research.Xiaoyu Li Qinsheng Zhu Yiming Huang Yong Hu Qingyu Meng Chenjing Su Qing Yang Shaoyi Wu Xusheng Liu 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,12:2
