9Vertically aligned one-dimensional ZnO/V2O5 core-shell hetero-nanostructure for photoelectrochemical water splitting显示文摘The vertically aligned one-dimensional(1 D)core-shell structure can maximize the exposure and use of the functionally active surface while maintaining the geometric effects caused by the underlying structure.Herein,we have fabricated 1 D vertically aligned ZnO/V2O5 core-shell hetero-nanostructure nanorod arrays(NRs)for photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting.ZnO/V2O5 NRs were prepared through the hydrothermal growing of ZnO NRs and then radio frequency(RF)magnetron sputtering deposition of V2O5 for 300,600 and 900 s.The photocurrent density of ZnO/V2O5-based photoanodes was gradually increased with the sputtering time,reaching the maximum value of 1.21 m A/cm^2 at 1.23 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)for ZnO/V2O5-600,whereas for pure ZnO-based photoanode was 0.42 mA/cm^2.The incident photon to electron conversion efficiency(IPCE)of ZnO/V2O5-600 evaluated to be 82.3%which was 2.3 times higher than that of ZnO(36.4%).The improved PEC performance of ZnO/V2O5-600 is because the core-shell structure with a moderate thickness of the V2O5 layer has the extremely high carrier density,largest electrochemically active surface area(ECSA),largest carrier density,lowest charge recombination rate,and the longest lifetime of e-h pairs due to the formation of the staggered gap junction.This study provides an effective way to design and fabrication of hetero-nanostructures for highefficiency photoelectrodes.Tian-Feng Hou Muhammad Ali Johar Ramireddy Boppella Mostafa Afifi Hassan Swati J.Patil Sang-Wan Ryu Dong-Weon Lee 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,10:1

18The proteome landscape of the root cap reveals a role for the jacalin-associated lectin JAL10 in the salt-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway显示文摘Rapid climate change has led to enhanced soil salinity,one of the major determinants of land degradation,resulting in low agricultural productivity.This has a strong negative impact on food security and environmental sustainability.Plants display various physiological,developmental,and cellular responses to deal with salt stress.Recent studies have highlighted the root cap as the primary stress sensor and revealed its crucial role in halotropism.The root cap covers the primary root meristem and is the first cell type to sense and respond to soil salinity,relaying the signal to neighboring cell types.However,it remains unclear how root-cap cells perceive salt stress and contribute to the salt-stress response.Here,we performed a root-cap cell-specific proteomics study to identify changes in the proteome caused by salt stress.The study revealed a very specific salt-stress response pattern in root-cap cells compared with non-rootcap cells and identified several novel proteins unique to the root cap.Root-cap-specific protein–protein interaction(PPI)networks derived by superimposing proteomics data onto known global PPI networks revealed that the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress pathway is specifically activated in root-cap cells upon salt stress.Importantly,we identified root-cap-specific jacalin-associated lectins(JALs)expressed in response to salt stress.A JAL10-GFP fusion protein was shown to be localized to the ER.Analysis of jal10 mutants indicated a role for JAL10 in regulating the ER stress pathway in response to salt.Taken together,our findings highlight the participation of specific root-cap proteins in salt-stress response pathways.Furthermore,root-cap-specific JAL proteins and their role in the salt-mediated ER stress pathway open a new avenue for exploring tolerance mechanisms and devising better strategies to increase plant salinity tolerance and enhance agricultural productivity.Krishna Kodappully Das Ankita Mohapatra Abin Panackal George Sreenivas Chavali Katja Witzel Eswarayya Ramireddy 2023Plant Communications2023,4,6:0
