| 2 | Influence of carbon sources on nutrient removal in A2/O-MBRs: Availability assessment of internal carbon source显示文摘Both internal carbon source and some external carbon sources were used to improve the nutrient removal in Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic-Membrane Bioreactor(A^2/O-MBRs), and their technical and cost analysis was investigated. The experimental results showed that the nutrient removals were improved by all the carbon source additions. The total nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency were higher in the experiments with external carbon source additions than that with internal carbon source addition. It was found that pathways of nitrogen and phosphorus transform were different dependent on different carbon source additions by the mass balance analysis. With external carbon source addition, the simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in aerobic zone, and the P-uptake in aerobic phase was evident. Therefore, with addition of C-MHP(internal carbon source produced from sludge pretreatment by microwave-H_2O_2 process), the denitrification and phosphorus-uptake in anoxic zone was notable. Cost analysis showed that the unit nitrogen removal costs were 57.13 CNY/kgN of C-acetate addition and 54.48 CNY/kgN of C-MHP addition, respectively. | 3 | Genetic association and epistatic interaction of the interleukin-10 signaling pathway in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM To study the genetic association and epistatic interaction of the interleukin(IL)-10 and IL-10/STAT3 pathways in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). METHODS A total of 159 pediatric inflammatory IBD patients(Crohn's disease,n = 136; ulcerative colitis,n = 23) and 129 matched controls were studied for genetic association of selected single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) of the IL-10 gene and the genes IL10 RA,IL10 RB,STAT3,and HO1,from the IL-10/STAT3 signaling pathway. As interactions between SNPs from different loci may significantly affect the associated risk for disease,additive(a) and dominant(d) modeling of SNP interactions was also performed to examine highorder epistasis between combinations of the individual SNPs. RESULTS The results showed that IL-10 rs304496 was associated with pediatric IBD(P = 0.022),but no association was found for two other IL-10 SNPs,rs1800872 and rs2034498,or for SNPs in genes IL10 RA,IL10 RB,STAT3,and HO1. | 5 | Rapid Urbanization Induced Extensive Forest Loss to Urban Land in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, China显示文摘China has experienced rapid urbanizations with dramatic land cover changes since 1978. Forest loss is one of land cover changes, and it induces various eco-environmental degradation issues. As one of China’s hotspot regions, the Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area(GBA) has undergone a dramatic urban expansion. To better understand forest dynamics and protect forest ecosystem, revealing the processes, patterns and underlying drivers of forest loss is essential. This study focused on the spatiotemporal evolution and potential driving factors of forest loss in the GBA at regional and city level. The Landsat time-series images from 1987 to2017 were used to derive forest, and landscape metrics and geographic information system(GIS) were applied to implement further spatial analysis. The results showed that: 1) 14.86% of the total urban growth area of the GBA was obtained from the forest loss in1987–2017;meanwhile, the forest loss area of the GBA reached 4040.6 km2, of which 25.60%(1034.42 km2) was converted to urban land;2) the percentages of forest loss to urban land in Dongguan(19.14%), Guangzhou(18.35%) and Shenzhen(15.81%) were higher than those in other cities;3) the forest became increasingly fragmented from 1987–2007, and then the fragmentation decreased from2007 to 2017);4) the landscape responses to forest changes varied with the scale;and 5) some forest loss to urban regions moved from low-elevation and gentle-slope terrains to higher-elevation and steep-slope terrains over time, especially in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.Urbanization and industrialization greatly drove forest loss and fragmentation, and, notably, hillside urban land expansion may have contributed to hillside forest loss. | 6 | The genetic architecture of growth traits in Salix matsudana under salt stress显示文摘Willow(Salix)is one of the most important ornamental tree species in landscape plants.One species,Salix matsudana,is widely used as a shade tree and border tree because of its soft branches and plump crown.Some varieties of S.matsudana were salt tolerant and could grow normally in coastal regions.However,the molecular mechanisms of salt tolerance for S.matsudana have been less clear.Here,we addressed this issue by performing a mapping experiment containing 195 intraspecific F1 progeny of S.matsudana,derived from salt-sensitive‘yanjiang’and salt-tolerant‘9901’,grown by cuttings in a 100 mM NaCl solution.Growth performance of these progeny under salt stress was investigated,displaying marked genotypic variability with the coefficients of variance of 28.64–86.11%in shoot and root growth traits.We further mapped specific QTLs contributing to these differences to the Salix genome.Of the 204 QTLs identified,a few were detected to explain a remarkably larger portion of the phenotypic variation than many others.Many detected QTLs were found to reside in the region of candidate genes of known biological function.The discovery of growth QTLs expressed under salt stress provides important information for marker-assisted breeding of salt tolerant Salix varieties and founds the basis for the application of S.matsudana in coastal afforestation. | Jian Zhang Huwei Yuan Qingshan Yang Min Li Ying Wang Yujuan Li Xiangjian Ma Feng Tan Rongling Wu | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017,4,1: | 3 |

Given that GNSS signal frequency is high and that the periodic feature of the GNSS signal is affected by the Doppler frequency shift, classical SR methods cannot be directly used to acquire GNSS signals. Therefore, the re-scaling technique is used in our study to expand its usage to high-frequency signals and adaptive control technique is used to gradually determine the Doppler shift effect in GNSS signal buried in strong noises. The effectiveness of our proposed method was verified by the simulations on GPS L1 signals. The data have some characteristics, such as randomness and incompleteness, which lead to the diagnostic results being sensitive to the specific values and random noise. This paper presents a data-driven fault diagnosis method for analog circuits based on the robust competitive agglomeration (RCA), which can alleviate the incompleteness of the data by clustering with the competing process. And the robustness of the diagnostic results is enhanced by using the approach of robust statistics in RCA. A series of experiments are provided to demonstrate that RCA can classify the incomplete data with a high accuracy. The experimental results show that RCA is robust for the data needed to be classified as well as the parameters needed to be adjusted. | 20 | Clustering and classification of energy meter data: A comparison analysis of data from individual homes and the aggregated data from multiple homes显示文摘The transition towards a more sustainable environment requires the development of new control systems on the demand side to integrate renewable energy sources into the energy systems.For this purpose,energy meter data of homes have been broadly used in modelling,forecast and optimal control of energy use.However,usability and reliability of household energy meter data have not been specifically addressed.In this study,we apply commonly used machine learning methods on the heating consumption data of(1)two individual homes in an apartment building and(2)the district heating substation of the apartment building which includes 72 homes,to identify how the characteristics of data affect the result of data analysis.Two clustering approaches were applied using the K-means algorithm to group similar heating daily profiles.Using the clustering results,different classification algorithms such as logistic regression and random forest were applied to predict the heating consumption level with regards to the weather conditions.The data analysis process showed that the substation data which is the aggregated heating consumption of the 72 homes is more reliable and valid for energy prediction than the data from two individual homes.This is due to the large variation and uncertainty in the daily energy use of individual homes. | Juan Sala Rongling Li Morten H.Christensen | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,1: | 1 |
