1Copper as a single metal atom based photo-,electro-,and photoelectrochemical catalyst decorated on carbon nitride surface for efficient CO_(2) reduction:A review显示文摘The processes of photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction(pCO_(2)R)and electrochemical CO_(2) reduction(ECO_(2)R)have attracted considerable interest owing to their high potential to address many environmental and energy-related issues.In this aspect,a single Cu atom decorated on a carbon nitride(CN)surface(Cu-CN)has gained increasing popularity because of its unique advantages,such as excellent atom utilization and ultrahigh catalytic activity.CN-particularly graphitic CN(g-C_(3)N_(4))-is a photo-and electrocatalyst and used as an important support material for single Cu atom-based catalysts.These key functions of Cu-CN-based catalysts can improve the catalytic performance and stability in the pCO_(2)R and ECO_(2)R during the application process.In this review,we focus on Cu as a single metal atom decorated on CN for efficient photoelectrochemical CO_(2) reduction(pECO_(2)R),where ECO_(2)R increases the electrocatalytic active area and promotes electron transfer,while pCO_(2)R enhances the surface redox reaction by efficiently using photogenerated charges and offering integral activity as well as an active interface between Cu and CN.Interactions of single Cu atom-based photo-,electro-,and photoelectrochemical catalysts with g-C_(3)N_(4) are discussed.Moreover,for a deeper understanding of the history of the development of pCO_(2)R and ECO_(2)R,the basics of CO_(2) reduction,including pCO_(2)R and ECO_(2)R over g-C_(3)N_(4),as well as the structural composition,characterization,unique design,and mechanism of a single atom site are reviewed in detail.Finally,some future prospects and key challenges are discussed.Lulu Li Israr Masood ul Hasan Farwa Ruinan He Luwei Peng Nengneng Xu Nabeel Khan Niazi Jia-Nan Zhang Jinli Qiao 2022Nano Research Energy2022,1,2:7

4Milk-derived exosomes exhibit versatile effects for improved oral drug delivery显示文摘As endogenous courier vesicles,exosomes play crucial roles in macromolecule transmission and intercellular communication.Therefore,exosomes have drawn increasing attention as biomimetic drug-delivery vehicles over the past few years.However,few studies have investigated the encapsulation of peptide/protein drugs into exosomes for oral administration.Additionally,the mechanisms underlying their biomimetic properties as oral delivery vehicles remain unknown.Herein,insulin-loaded milk-derived exosomes(EXO@INS)were fabricated and the in vivo hypoglycemic effect was investigated on type I diabetic rats.Surprisingly,EXO@INS(50 and 30 IU/kg)elicited a more superior and more sustained hypoglycemic effect compared with that obtained with subcutaneously injected insulin.Further mechanism studies indicated that the origin of excellent oral-performance of milk-derived exosomes combined active multi-targeting uptake,pH adaptation during gastrointestinal transit,nutrient assimilation related ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK signal pathway activation and intestinal mucus penetration.This study provides the first demonstration that multifunctional milk-derived exosomes offer solutions to many of the challenges arising from oral drug delivery and thus provide new insights into developing naturally-equipped nanovehicles for oral drug administration.Lei Wu Lingling Wang Xi Liu Yuli Bai Ruinan Wu Xiang Li Yutong Mao Ling Zhang Yongxiang Zheng Tao Gong Zhirong Zhang Yuan Huang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,4:1
5Standardized ileal digestibility of amino acids in soybean meal fed to non-pregnant and pregnant sows显示文摘Background Two studies were designed to determine standard ileal crude protein(CP)and amino acid(AA)digestibility of soybean meal(SBM)from different origins fed to non-pregnant and pregnant sows.Seven solvent-extracted SBMs from soybeans produced in the USA,Brazil,and China were selected.In Exp.1,eight different diets were created:a nitrogen(N)-free diet and 7 experimental diets containing SBM from different origins as the only N source.Eight non-pregnant,multiparous sows were arranged in an 8×8 Latin square design(8 periods and 8 diets).In Exp.2,the diet formula was the same as in Exp.1.Eight gestating sows(parity 3)were assigned to 4 different diets in a replicated 4×3 Youden square design(three periods and four diets)in mid-gestation and again in late-gestation stages.Results When fed to non-pregnant and late-gestating sows,the standardized ileal digestibility(SID)of CP and most AAs from different SBM were not significantly different(P>0.05).When fed to mid-gestating sows,the SID values for Arg,His,Lys,Phe,Cys,Gly,Ser,and Tyr in SBM 1 were lower than in SBM 4 and 5(P<0.05),whereas SID for Leu from SBM 5 was higher than in SBM 1 and 4(P<0.05).SID values for Ile,Ala,and Asp from SBM 4 were lower than in SBM 1 and 5(P<0.05).Sows had significantly greater SID values for Lys,Ala,and Asp during mid-gestation when compared with late-gestation stages(P<0.05).Mid-gestating sows had greater SID value for Val and lower SID value for Tyr when compared with non-pregnant and late-gestating sows(P<0.01),whereas non-pregnant sows had significantly greater SID value for Met when compared with gestating sows(P<0.01).Conclusions When fed to mid-gestating sows,the SID values for most AAs varied among SBM samples.The SID values for Lys,Met,Val,Ala,Asp,and Tyr in SBM were affected by sow gestation stages.Our findings provide a cornerstone for accurate SBM use in sow diets.Ke Wang Ya Wang Lei Guo Yong Zhuo Lun Hua Lianqiang Che Shengyu Xu Ruinan Zhang Jian Li Bin Feng Zhengfeng Fang Xuemei Jiang Yan Lin De Wu 2024Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2024,15,1:0
6Evaluation and comparison of antibacterial activities of edible vegetable oils in China显示文摘To evaluate antibacterial activities of edible vegetable oils in China for healthy consumption, we investigated the antibacterial activities of extracts from 6 edible vegetable oils and rapeseed oils at different refining levels on 4 bactria (Staphylococcus aureus,Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas strains) by disc diffusion test. Results showed that camellia oil had considerable antibacterial activity against E. coli with antibacterial rate of 108.3%. Perilla oil, sunflower seed oil, and flaxseed oil showed the highest antibacterial activities against B. subtilis with the antibacterial rates of 108.3%, 102.8%and94.4%respectively. Moreover, the extracts of rapeseed oils obtained by different processing technologies showed significantly different antibacterial effects. Two crude oils and grade4 rapeseed oil showed antibacterial rates of more than 40%, whereas grade 1 and 2 rapeseed oils showed antibacterial rates of less than 20%. Therefore, it was recommended to use rapeseed oil rather than refined rapeseed oil because of higher antibacterial activities. 7Differential responses of weaned piglets to supplemental porcine or chicken plasma in diets without inclusion of antibiotics and zinc oxide显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effects of spray-dried porcine plasma protein(SDPP)or spray-dried chicken plasma protein(SDCP)supplementation in diets without the inclusion of antibiotics and zinc oxide(ZnO)on growth performance,fecal score,and fecal microbiota in early-weaned piglets.A total of 192 healthy weaning piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire,21 d old)were blocked by BW(6.53±0.60 kg)and randomly assigned to 4 dietary treatments:negative control(NC,basal diet),positive control(PC),basal diet+ZnO at 2 g/kg and antibiotics at 0.8 g/kg,SDPP(containing 5%SDPP),and SDCP(containing 5%SDCP).The experiment lasted 14 d.The SDPP group had higher(P<0.05)final BW,average daily gain and average daily feed intake than the NC and SDCP groups.The percentage of piglets with fecal scores at 2 or≥2 was higher(P<0.05)in the NC and SDCP groups than in the PC group.A decreased(P<0.05)bacterial alpha diversity and Bacteroidetes abundance,but increased(P<0.05)Firmicutes abundance were observed in the PC and SDPP groups when compared to the NC group.The relative abundance of Lactobacillus was higher(P<0.05)in the SDPP than in the SDCP group,and that of Streptococcus was higher(P<0.01)in the PC and SDPP groups than in the NC group.The PC group also had higher(P<0.01)Faecalibacterium abundance than the NC and SDCP groups.Additionally,the SDCP group had higher(P<0.05)serum urea nitrogen than those fed other diets,and lower(P<0.10)shortchain fatty acids to branched-chain fatty acids ratio than the PC and SDPP groups.Overall,SDPP was a promising animal protein for piglets in increasing feed intake,modifying gut microbiota profile,reducing gut protein fermentation and alleviating diarrhea frequency,thus promoting growth performance,under the conditions with limited in-feed utilization of antibiotics and ZnO.Li Zhe Lunxiang Yang Sen Lin Fangyuan Chen Peng Wang Lourens Heres Yong Zhuo Jiayong Tang Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Xiaoling Zhang Xuemei Jiang Lingjie Huang Ruinan Zhang Lianqiang Che Gang Tian Bin Feng De Wu Zhengfeng Fang 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:0

10Mimicking natural cholesterol assimilation to elevate the oral delivery of liraglutide for type Ⅱ diabetes therapy显示文摘Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1 RA)are a series of polypeptides broadly applied in the long-term treatment of typeⅡdiabetes.However,administration of GLP-RA is mainly through repetitive subcutaneous injection,which may seriously decrease the compliance and safety.Herein,a bio-inspired oral delivery system was designed to enhance the oral absorption of liraglutide(Lira),a kind of GLP-1 RA,by mimicking the natural cholesterol assimilation.25-hydroxycholesterol(25HC),a cholesterol derivative,was modified on the surfaced of Lira-loaded PLGA nanoparticles(Lira 25HC NPs)and functioned as a“top-down”actuator to facilitate unidirectional transcytosis across the intestinal epithelium.After oral delivery,Lira 25HC NPs displayed improved therapeutic effect as compared with oral free Lira on typeⅡdiabetes db/db mice,as evidenced by multiple relieved diabetic symptoms including the enhanced glucose tolerance,repressed weight growth,improved liver glucose metabolism,decreased fasting blood glucose,HbA 1c,serum lipid,and increasedβcells activity.Surprisingly,the fasting blood glucose,liver glucose metabolism,and HbA1c of oral Lira-loaded 25HC NPs were comparable to subcutaneous injection of free Lira.Further mechanisms revealed that 25HC ligand could mediate the nanoparticles to mimic natural cholesterol absorption by exerting high affinity towards apical Niemann-Pick C1 Like 1(NPC1L1)and then basolateral ATP binding cassette transporter A1(ABCA1)overexpressed on the opposite side of intestinal epithelium.This cholesterol assimilation-mimicking strategy achieve the unidirectional transport across the intestinal epithelium,thus improving the oral absorption of liraglutide.In general,this study established a cholesterol simulated platform and provide promising insight for the oral delivery of GLP-1 RA.Ruinan Wu Zhanghan Wu Liyun Xing Xi Liu Lei Wu Zhou Zhou Lian Li Yuan Huang 2022Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2022,17,5:0
11Comparative advantages of chemical compositions of specific edible vegetable oils显示文摘As important supplementary to major edible oils, comparative chemical advantages of minor edible oils decidetheir development and usage. In this study, chemical composition of 13 kinds of specific edible vegetable oilswere investigated. The comparative advantages of chemical compositions of these edible oils were obtained asfollows: (1) camellia, tiger nut and almond oil were rich in oleic acid, the contents of which accounted for79.43%, 69.16% and 66.26%, respectively;(2) safflower oil contained the highest content of linoleic acid(76.69%), followed by grape seed (66.85%) and walnut oil (57.30%);(3) perilla seed, siritch, peony seed andherbaceous peony seed oil were rich in α-linolenic acid (59.61%, 43.74%, 40.83% and 30.84%, respectively);(4)the total phytosterol contents of these oils ranged from 91.46 mg/100 g (camellia oil) to 506.46 mg/100 g (siritchoil);and (5) The best source of tocopherols was sacha inchi oil (122.74 mg/100 g), followed by perilla seed oil(55.89 mg/100 g), peony seed oil (53.73 mg/100 g) and herbaceous peony seed oil (47.17 mg/100 g). 12Odorant-binding protein 19 in Monochamus alternatus involved in the recognition of a volatile strongly emitted from ovipositing host pines显示文摘Monochamus alternatus is the primary carrier of pine wood nematodes,which pose a serious threat to Pinus spp.in many countries.Newly emerging M.alternatus adults feed on heathy host pines,while matured adults transfer to stressed host pines for mating and oviposition.Several odorant-binding proteins(OBPs)of M.alternatus have been proved to aid in the complex process of host location.To clarify the corresponding relations between OBPs and pine volatiles,more OBPs need to be studied.In this research,MaltOBP19 showed a specific expression in the antennae and mouthparts of M.alternatus,and it was marked in 4 types of antenna sensilla by immunolocalization.Fluorescence binding assays demonstrated the high binding affinity of MaltOBP19 with camphene and myrcene in vitro.In Y-tube olfactory experiments,M.alternatus adults were attracted by camphene and RNAi of OBP19 via microinjection significantly decreased their attraction index.Myrcene induced phobotaxis,but RNAi had no significant effect on this behavior.Further,we found that ingesting dsOBP19 produced by a bacteria-expressed system with a newly constructed vector could lead to the knockdown of MaltOBP19.These results suggest that MaltOBP19 may play a role in the process of host conversion via the recognition of camphene,which has been identified to be strongly released in stressed host pines.In addition,it is proved that knockdown of OBP can be achieved by oral administration of bacteria-expressed double-stranded RNA in M.alternatus adults,providing a new perspective in the control of M.alternatus.Ruinan Yang Dongzhen Li Shancheng Yi Yi Wei Manqun Wang 2024Insect Science2024,31,1:0
13Implications of vitamin D for flesh quality of grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella):antioxidant ability,nutritional value,sensory quality,and myofiber characteristics显示文摘Background Muscle represents a unique and complex system with many components and comprises the major edible part of animals.Vitamin D is a critical nutrient for animals and is known to enhance calcium absorption and immune response.In recent years,dietary vitamin D supplementation in livestock has received increased attention due to biological responses including improving shear force in mammalian meat.However,the vitamin D acquisition and myofiber development processes in fish differ from those in mammals,and the effect of vitamin D on fish flesh quality is poorly understood.Here,the influence of dietary vitamin D on fillet quality,antioxidant ability,and myofiber development was examined in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella).Methods A total of 540 healthy grass carp,with an initial average body weight of 257.24±0.63 g,were allotted in 6 experimental groups with 3 replicates each,and respectively fed corresponding diets with 15.2,364.3,782.5,1,167.9,1,573.8,and 1,980.1 IU/kg vitamin D for 70 d.Results Supplementation with 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D significantly improved nutritional value and sensory quality of fillets,enhancing crude protein,free amino acid,lipid,and collagen contents;maintaining an ideal pH;and reduc-ing lactate content,shear force,and cooking loss relative to respective values in the control(15.2 IU/kg)group.Average myofiber diameter and the frequency of myofibers>50μm in diameter increased under supplementation with 782.5–1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D.Levels of oxidative damage biomarkers decreased,and the expression of antioxi-dant enzymes and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 signaling molecules was upregulated in the 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D treatment compared to respective values in the control group.Furthermore,vitamin D supplementation activated cell differentiation by enhancing the expression of myogenic regulatory factors and myocyte enhancer factors compared to that in the control group.In addition,supplementation with 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D improved protein deposition associated with protein synthesis molecule(target of rapamycin)signaling and vitamin D receptor paralogs,along with inhibition of protein degradation(forkhead box protein 1)signaling.Conclusions Overall,the results demonstrated that vitamin D strengthened antioxidant ability and myofiber devel-opment,thereby enhancing nutritional value and sensory quality of fish flesh.These findings suggest that dietary vitamin D supplementation is conducive to the production of nutrient-rich,high quality aquaculture products.Yao Zhang Chaonan Li Xiaoqiu Zhou Weidan Jiang Pei Wu Yang Liu Hongmei Ren Lu Zhang Haifeng Mi Jiayong Tang Ruinan Zhang Lin Feng 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,6:0
14Comparative effects of enzymatic soybean,fish meal and milk powder in diets on growth performance,immunological parameters,SCFAs production and gut microbiome of weaned piglets显示文摘Background:The objective of this study was to evaluate the replacement effects of milk powder(MK)and fish meal(FM)by enzymatic soybean(ESB)in diets on growth performance,immunological parameters,SCFAs production and gut microbiome of weaned piglets.Methods:A total of 128 piglets with initial body weight at 6.95±0.46 kg,were randomly assigned into 4 dietary treatments with 8 replicates per treatment and 4 piglets per replicate for a period of 14 d.Piglets were offered isonitrogenous and iso-energetic diets as follows:CON diet with MK and FM as high quality protein sources,ESB plus FM diet with ESB replacing MK,ESB plus MK diet with ESB replacing FM,and ESB diet with ESB replacing both MK and FM.Results:No significant differences were observed in growth performance among all treatments(P>0.05).However,piglets fed ESB plus FM or ESB diet had increased diarrhea index(P<0.01),and lower digestibility of dry matter(DM),gross energy(GE)or crude protein(CP),relative to piglets fed CON diet(P<0.01).Moreover,the inclusion of ESB in diet markedly decreased the plasma concentration of HPT and fecal concentration of butyric acid(BA)(P<0.01).The High-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene V3−V4 region of gut microbiome revealed that the inclusion of ESB in diet increased the alpha diversity,and the linear discriminant analysis effect size(LEfSe)showed that piglets fed with ESB plus FM or ESB diet contained more gut pathogenic bacteria,such as g_Peptococcus,g_Veillonella and g_Helicobacter.Conclusion:The inclusion of ESB in diet did not markedly affect growth performance of piglets,but the replacement of MK or both MK and FM by ESB increased diarrhea index,which could be associated with lower nutrients digestibility and more gut pathogenic bacteria.However,piglets fed diet using ESB to replace FM did not markedly affect gut health-related parameters,indicating the potential for replacing FM with ESB in weaning diet.Yingjie Li Yang Liu Jiangnan Wu Qiuhong Chen Qiang Zhou Fali Wu Ruinan Zhang Zhengfeng Fang Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Bin Feng Yong Zhuo De Wu Lianqiang Che 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,2:0
15Disease-specific protein corona formed in pathological intestine enhances the oral absorption of nanoparticles显示文摘Protein corona(PC)has been identified to impede the transportation of intravenously injected nanoparticles(NPs)from blood circulation to their targeted sites.However,how intestinal PC(IPC)affects the delivery of orally administered NPs are still needed to be elucidated.Here,we found that IPC exerted“positive effect”or“negative effect”depending on different pathological conditions in the gastrointestinal tract.We prepared polystyrene nanoparticles(PS)adsorbed with different IPC derived from the intestinal tract of healthy,diabetic,and colitis rats(H-IPC@PS,D-IPC@PS,C-IPC@PS).Proteomics analysis revealed that,compared with healthy IPC,the two disease-specific IPC consisted of a higher proportion of proteins that were closely correlated with transepithelial transport across the intestine.Consequently,both D-IPC@PS and C-IPC@PS mainly exploited the recycling endosome and ER-Golgi mediated secretory routes for intracellular trafficking,which increased the transcytosis from the epithelium.Together,disease-specific IPC endowed NPs with higher intestinal absorption.D-IPC@PS posed“positive effect”on intestinal absorption into blood circulation for diabetic therapy.Conversely,CIPC@PS had“negative effect”on colitis treatment because of unfavorable absorption in the intestine before arriving colon.These results imply that different or even opposite strategies to modulate the disease-specific IPC need to be adopted for oral nanomedicine in the treatment of variable diseases.Jiawei Wu Liyun Xing Yaxian Zheng Yinglan Yu Ruinan Wu Xi Liu Lian Li Yuan Huang 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,9:0
16Clinical features of multiple myeloma patients with isolated extramedullary relapse显示文摘This study sought to analyze the clinical features and prognosis of multiple myeloma with isolated extramedullary relapse and with the absence of systemic progression.The clinical features and outcome were retrospectively analyzed in six multiple myeloma patients.These patients had secretory multiple myeloma at diagnosis.When relapsed,the dissociation between medullary and extramedullary response was detected.The serum or urine monoclonal component was extremely low or absent.The plasma cells in bone marrow were <5%.All patients received new targeted therapies(thalidomide or bortezomib) before extramedullary relapse.It is difficult to achieve second remission for them.Even in those showing response,the duration of response was extremely short.The median of overall survival from diagnosis and from extramedullary relapse was 19 months and 6 months,respectively.The overall survival was significantly shorter compared to the patients without extramedullary involvement(84 months,P= 0.001).These patients exhibited a special and rare relapse pattern.Patients with this relapse pattern were resistant to current therapies,including novel targeted agents and associated with poor prognosis.Xiaoyan Qu Lijuan Chen Tian Tian Limin Duan Ruinan Lu Hua Lu Hanxin Wu Jianyong Li 2018The Journal of Biomedical Research2018,32,4:0
17Comparison of anthocyanin and fatty acid in black and ordinary peanuts显示文摘In this study, anthocyanin and fatty acid compositions between black and ordinary peanuts were compared. Results showed that black peanuts contained 93.90±18.36 μg/g of cyanidin, which was significantly higher than that of ordinary peanuts. In addition, although both of black and ordinary peanuts shared some specific fatty acids, 4 fatty acids in black peanuts were significantly different from those in ordinary peanuts, which could be used as markers to distinguish black peanut from ordinary ones. 19Long-term outcomes of brainstem arteriovenous malformations after different management modalities: a single-centre experience显示文摘Objective The aims of this study are to clarify the long-term outcomes of brainstem arteriovenous malformations(AVMs)after different management modalities.Methods The authors retrospectively reviewed 61 brainstem AVMs in their institution between 2011 and 2017.The rupture risk was represented by annualised haemorrhagic rate.Patients were divided into five groups:conservation,microsurgery,embolisation,stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS)and embolisation+SRS.Neurofunctional outcomes were evaluated by the modified Rankin Scale(mRS).Subgroup analysis was conducted between different management modalities to compare the long-term outcomes in rupture or unruptured cohorts.Results All of 61 brainstem AVMs(12 unruptured and 49 ruptured)were followed up for an average of 4.5 years.The natural annualised rupture risk was 7.3%,and the natural annualised reruptured risk in the ruptured cohort was 8.9%.13 cases were conservative managed and 48 cases underwent intervention(including 6 microsurgery,12 embolisation,21 SRS and 9 embolisation+SRS).In the selection of interventional indication,diffuse nidus were often suggested conservative management(p=0.004)and nidus involving the midbrain were more likely to be recommended for intervention(p=0.034).The risk of subsequent haemorrhage was significantly increased in partial occlusion compared with complete occlusion and conservative management(p<0.001,p=0.036,respectively).In the subgroup analysis,the follow-up mRS scores of different management modalities were similar whether in the rupture cohort(p=0.064)or the unruptured cohort(p=0.391),as well as the haemorrhage-free survival(p=0.145).In the adjusted Bonferroni correction analysis of the ruptured cohort,microsurgery and SRS could significantly improve the obliteration rate compared with conservation(p<0.001,p=0.001,respectively)and SRS may have positive effect on avoiding new-onset neurofunctional deficit compared with microsurgery and embolisation(p=0.003,p=0.003,respectively).Conclusions Intervention has similar neurofunctional outcomes as conservation in these brainstem AVM cohorts.If intervention is adopted,partial obliteration should be avoided because of the high subsequent rupture risk.Yu Chen Ruinan Li Li Ma Xiangyu Meng Debin Yan Hao Wang Xun Ye Hengwei Jin Youxiang Li Dezhi Gao Shibin Sun Ali Liu Shuo Wang Xiaolin Chen Yuanli Zhao 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1:0
