| 1 | Design of artificial neural networks using a genetic algorithm to predict saturates of vacuum gas oil显示文摘Accurate prediction of chemical composition of vacuum gas oil(VGO) is essential for the routine operation of refi neries. In this work,a new approach for auto-design of artificial neural networks(ANN) based on a genetic algorithm(GA) is developed for predicting VGO saturates. The number of neurons in the hidden layer,the momentum and the learning rates are determined by using the genetic algorithm. The inputs for the artif icial neural networks model are f ive physical properties,namely,average boiling point,density,molecular weight,viscosity and refractive index. It is verified that the genetic algorithm could fi nd the optimal structural parameters and training parameters of ANN. In addition,an artificial neural networks model based on a genetic algorithm was tested and the results indicated that the VGO saturates can be effi ciently predicted. | 2 | Thermal and elemental analysis of the combustion chamber deposits in a large-scale two-stroke marine diesel engine显示文摘It is of significance to understand the chemical content of carbon deposits in the large-scale two-stroke(LSTS) marine diesel engine because of adverse effect on the engine performance, oil consumption and emissions. In this work, two different combustion chamber deposits in an LSTS marine diesel engine were studied using thermogravimetry analysis(TGA), elemental analysis(EA) and synchrotron X-ray fluorescence(SXRF). One was on the piston top and the other on the piston land, termed PTCD and PLCD, respectively. For the PTCD sample, the 97% residue in the TGA and 1.4% carbon content in the EA indicated the main compositions of PTCD were metal salts or oxides and ashes, significantly different from the previous findings of the highest carbon content in deposits from the small four stroke engines. The different chemical content between PTCD and PLCD implied higher thermal load in the LSTS marine diesel engine led to a nearly complete thermal decomposition of PTCD. The higher calcium content in PTCD and PLCD indicated the additives of cylinder oil should be the main source of metal content of PTCD and PLCD. Calcium distribution in the SXRF results was indicative of the potential layered structure in PTCD and PLCD. | 6 | How did the price and income elasticities of natural gas demand in China evolve from 1999 to 2015? The role of natural gas price reform显示文摘As a cleaner,high-efficiency,and low-carbon fuel,natural gas has been an important fuel resource for China.To achieve a substantial increase in natural gas demand,China has sought to reform its natural gas pricing mechanism.Employing a set of unbalanced panel data for China’s 30 provinces covering 1999-2015,this study aims to estimate the evolving price and income elasticities of natural gas demand and explore the effect of natural gas price reform in China.For this purpose,a series of econometric techniques allowing for cross-sectional dependence and slope homogeneity is utilized.The results suggest that although natural gas demand in China still lacks negative price elasticity,the phenomenon is improving.Moreover,the estimates suggest that natural gas demand in China is indeed becoming increasingly sensitive to income changes.Our estimates also provide strong evidence in favor of the effect of natural gas price reform on the change in price elasticity as the price elasticity decreases in five of the seven regions.In addition,the results indicate large variations in the change in price and income elasticities of natural gas demand across China’s regions.Natural gas demand is becoming more price inelastic in Southwest China and Northwest China,while such demand in North China and East China responds less sensitively to income changes.These findings offer several policy suggestions for the reform of China’s natural gas market at the national and regional levels. | Kangyin Dong Xiucheng Dong Renjin Sun | 2019 | Petroleum Science2019,16,3: | 0 |
