| 2 | Altitudinal patterns of maximum plant height on the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Aims Several studies have shown that plant height changes along environmen-tal gradients.However,altitudinal patterns of plant height across species are still unclear,especially in regions sensitive to climate change.As canopy height decreases dramatically near the tree line in alpine areas,we hypothesize that plant height across all species also decreases with increasing altitude,and distinct thresholds exist along this gradient.Methods Using a large dataset of maximum plant height and elevation range(400 to 6000 m a.s.l.)of 4295 angiosperms from the regional flora of the Tibetan Plateau,we regressed plant height for every 100 m belt against elevation to explore the relationships.To identify the approximate boundaries where dramatic changes in plant height occurs for herbaceous plants,shrubs,trees,woody plants and all angiosperms,we used piecewise linear regression.Phylogenetically independent contrast was used to test the potential evolutionary influences on altitudinal patterns at the family level.Important Findings Results showed that for herbaceous plants,shrubs,trees,woody plants and all angiosperms,plant height decreases significantly as altitude increases.In addition,we found that altitude,a proxy for many environmental factors,had obvious thresholds(breakpoints)dictating patterns of plant height.The results of phylogenetically independent contrast also emphasized the importance of evolution-ary history in determining the altitudinal patterns of plant height for some growth forms.Our results highlight the relative intense filter-ing effect of environmental factors in shaping patterns of functional traits and how this could vary for different ranges of environmental variables. | Lingfeng Mao Shengbin Chen Jinlong Zhang Guangsheng Zhou | 2018 | Journal of Plant Ecology2018,11,1: | 3 |
| 3 | STM and XPS study on the self-assembled films of Schiff base on copper surface显示文摘SAMs (self-assembled monolayers) of Schiff base were prepared on the copper surface, and characterized by the modern technique of surface analysis. The results demonstrated that the well-ordered and densely packed SAMs of N-2-hydroxyphenyl-(3-methoxy-salicylidenimine), designated as V-bso, were formed on the Cu(lll) surface. And two benzene rings in the V-bso molecule were not flat on the copper surface, but tilted at a certain angle. | 4 | Reinvestigation on species richness and environmental correlates of bryophytes at a regional scale in China显示文摘Aims The aim of this article is 4-fold:(i)to update species richness of bryophytes for each of the Chinese provinces based on the most current knowledge on distributions of bryophytes in China,(ii)to provide a set of analyses based on the updated species richness data and the environmental variables used in a recent article on species richness of bryophytes in China,(iii)to expand the analysis presented in the recent article by relating species richness of bryophytes to over 15 additional climatic variables and(iv)to determine the degree to which the relationships between bryophyte species richness and environmental variables that were reported in the recent article might have been biased.Methods Over 180 literatures with national,provincial and local species lists of bryophytes in China were used in this study.Taxonomy and nomenclature of bryophytes in China were standardized according to The Plant List.Correlation and regression analyses were used to examine the relationships between species richness or species density of bryophytes in Chinese provinces and environmental variables.Important Findings On average,each Chinese province possesses 700.6 species of bryophytes,which is 112.1 species more than previously reported.With the updated species richness data reported in this study,stronger relationships between species richness of bryophytes and environmental variables have been found,compared with those found in a recently published study for China.When single environmental variables were considered,precipitation-related variables were,on average,more strongly correlated with species richness and species density than were temperature-related variables.Environmental variables were on average correlated more strongly with species density than with species richness of bryophytes at the regional scale in China.Our study showed that measures quantifying the average and variation of environmental conditions within each Chinese province explained 82.7%and 71.1%of the variation in species richness of liverworts and mosses,respectively,and explained 86.5%and 70.7%of the variation in species density of liverworts and mosses,respectively. | Hong Qian Shengbin Chen | 2016 | Journal of Plant Ecology2016,9,6: | 2 |
| 5 | Extraction Process and Content Determination of Caffeic Acid in Laggera alata from Different Production Areas of Guangxi显示文摘[Objectives] To establish a method for determining the content of Laggera alata( D. Don) Sch. Bip. Ex Oliv. using caffeic acid the target component,and to compare the content of caffeic acid in the medicinal materials of L. alata in different production areas of Guangxi.[Methods]The content was determined by Inertsil~ODS-3 chromatographic column C_(18)( 4. 60 mm × 250 mm,5 μm,mobile phase: acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid( 22∶ 78),detection wavelength: 320 nm,flow rate: 1. 0 m L/min,column temperature: 30℃,and injection volume: 10 μL. [Results] The caffeic acid showed a good linear relationship in the range of injection volume of 0. 025 92-0. 259 2 μg( R =0. 999 5). The average recovery rate was 98. 33%( RSD = 1. 85%). L. alata in different production areas of Guangxi contained the caffeic acid,and there was a great difference in the caffeic acid. L. alata in Baise had the highest content of caffeic acid,while that in Guilin had the lowest content of caffeic acid. | 15 | Effect of Radix Ilicis Pubescentis on the Rats with Hyperlipidemia显示文摘[Objectives]To study the hypolipidemic effect of Radix Ilicis Pubescentis and to provide experimental scientific basis for the study of hypolipidemic mechanism of Radix Ilicis Pubescentis.[Methods]60 healthy(SD)male rats were selected,10 rats were given basic feed and pure water as blank control group,and the other 50 rats were fed with high-fat diet for 4 weeks.After establishing the hyperlipidemic rat model,the rats were randomly divided into model group,high,middle and low dose groups(1000,800,500 mg/kg),and positive control group(simvastatin 0.4 mg/mL).The corresponding drugs were intragastrically administered to the rats in each group(blank control group and model group intragastrically administered with normal saline).Four weeks later,blood samples from abdominal aorta were taken to detect serum total cholesterol(TC),serum triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C).[Results]Compared with the blank control group,TC,TG and LDL-C increased while HDL-C decreased in the model group(P<0.05);compared with the model group,TC,TG and LDL-C in Radix Ilicis Pubescentis group decreased to varying degrees,and the content of HDL-C in serum of rats had no statistical significance.Compared with the blank control group,the serum TC and TG contents of the model group,positive control group,high,middle and low dose groups of Radix Ilicis Pubescentis extract significantly increased(P<0.01 or 0.05),and the serum LDL-C content of rats decreased(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The extract of Radix Ilicis Pubescentis had a certain lipid-lowering effect on hyperlipidemia in rats,and had obvious preventive and therapeutic effect on hyperlipidemia. | Chaoyan QIN Jiangcun WEI Peitao XIE Wen ZHONG Shengbin CHEN Fengxian ZHAO Qian HAN | 2020 | Medicinal Plant2020,11,4: | 0 |

| 17 | Environmental Drivers and Spatial Prediction of the Critically Endangered Species Thuja sutchuenensis in Sichuan-Chongqing,China显示文摘Identifying the ecological environment suitable for the growth of Thuja sutchuenensis and predicting other potential distribution areas are essential to protect this endangered species. After selecting 24 environmental factors thatcould affect the distribution of T. sutchuenensis, including climate, topography, soil and Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI), we adopted the Random Forest-MaxEnt integrated model to analyze our data. Basedon the Random Forest study, the contribution of the mean temperature of the warmest quarter, mean temperatureof the coldest quarter, annual mean temperature and mean temperature of the driest quarter was large. Based onMaxEnt model prediction outputs, the potential distribution map not only identified areas that originallyrecorded T. sutchuenensis, such as Xuanhan County, Kai County and Chengkou County, but also identified highlysuitable distribution areas where T. sutchuenensis may exist, including Wanyuan County, Sichuan Province, andthe junction of Chongqing and Hubei Province. This provides a more explicit geographic range for ex situ conservation and reintroduction of T. sutchuenensis. Our results also indicate that, in addition to climate factors,topography and soil factors are also important environmental factors that affect distribution. | 18 | Long-term Toxicity of Maxing Erchen Zhike Granules显示文摘[Objectives]To study the long-term toxicity of Maxing Erchen Zhike granules to rats after intragastric administration,so as to provide reference for its preclinical safety evaluation.[Methods]Total 80 rats were randomly and evenly divided into high-dose group(1.2 mL/100 g,120 g/kg),middle-dose group(96.0 g/kg),low-dose group(72.0 g/kg)and blank control group.The rats in the treatment groups were administered with corresponding doses of Maxing Erchen Zhike granules,and those in the blank control group were given with equal-amount normal saline.The administration lasted for 30 consecutive days.During the experiment,the rats'feed intake,activity,feces and other conditions and toxicity reactions were observed every day.After 24 h of the last administration,12 rats(half male and half female)were randomly selected from each group.Each of the rats was anesthetized with 10%chloral hydrate solution(0.3 mL/100 g)through intraperitoneal injection and subjected to abdominal aorta blood collection(two tubes)for hematological examination and blood biochemical examination(serum).Then,the main organs of the rats were weighed,and pathological examinations were performed.After that,the main organs were weighed and pathological examination was performed.The remaining rats in each group were discontinued and observed for 14 d.On the 15th d,they were subjected to the same treatment,and the body weight,organ coefficients,hematological indices,blood biochemical indices and pathological indices were examined.[Results]After 30 d of administration,there was no abnormality in the appearance and behavior of the animals.There was no significant difference in the daily consumption of feed among the groups,and there was no special case of weight gain.Among the blood biochemical indices,the ALB and ALT levels of each administration group were significantly different from those of the blank control group(P<0.05).The results of histopathological examination show that there was one case of interstitial pneumonia in each of the high-dose group,middle-dose group and blank control group.After 14 d that the administration was stopped,one case of focal myocarditis appeared in the high-dose group,and one case of interstitial pneumonia appeared in the middle-dose group.[Conclusions]Maxing Erchen Zhike granules are safe to be administered to rats at 100 times the clinical dose.and there should be no safety hazards clinically when used at conventional doses. | Jiabao MA Zhenyuan WEI Shuang WU Jiahuan WEI Shengbin CHEN Jinhua LIU Zhengteng YANG | 2020 | Medicinal Plant2020,11,5: | 0 |
