| 1 | Venetoclax and low-dose cytarabine induced complete remissionin a patient with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia: a case report显示文摘Conventional combination therapies have not resulted in considerable progress in the treatment ofacute myeloid leukemia (AML). Elderly patients with AML and poor risk factors have grave prognosis.Midostaurin has been recently approved for the treatment of FLT-3-mutated AML. Venetoclax, a BCL-2 inhibitor,has been approved for the treatment of relapsed and/or refractory chronic lymphoid leukemia. Clinical trials onapplying venetoclax in combination with cytarabine and other agents to treat various hematological malignanciesare currently underway. Here, we present a case of a male patient with poor performance status and whodeveloped AML following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant for high-risk myelodysplasia. The patientwith high risk AML achieved complete response to the combined treatment regimen of low-dose cytarabine andvenetoclax. | 2 | Pembrolizumab-emerging treatment of pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma: A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Few studies have addressed the efficacy of pembrolizumab in pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma(PSC),a rare,previously rapidly fatal subtype of nonsmall-cell lung cancer.CASE SUMMARY We report the case of a 69-year-old man presented with respiratory distress caused by a large left upper lung lobe mass diagnosed as PSC with programmed death-ligand 1 expressed on more than 50 percent of tumor cells.The patient was started on pembrolizumab and,after 5 cycles,there was a more than 80 percent decrease in the size of the tumor mass.Further decrease was seen at the end of 10 cycles.The patient has been tolerating pembrolizumab well,with no limiting side-effects.Fourteen months after first coming into the hospital,he remains asymptomatic.CONCLUSION Pembrolizumab appears as a viable emerging treatment for PSC. | Emanuela Cimpeanu Jibran Ahmed Wahib Zafar Adreana DeMarinis Svetoslav S Bardarov Shamim Salman Dennis Bloomfield | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,1: | 2 |

| 15 | Delineation of groundwater potential zones in Wadi Saida Watershed of NW-Algeria using remote sensing,geographic information system-based AHP techniques and geostatistical analysis显示文摘Sustainable management of groundwater resources has now become an obligation,especially in arid and semi-arid regions given the socio-economic importance of this resource.The optimization in zoning for groundwater exploitation helps in planning and managing groundwater supply works such as boreholes and wells in the catchment.The objective of this study is to use remote sensing and GIS-based Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP)techniques to evaluate the groundwater potential of Wadi Saida Watershed.Spatial analysis such as geostatistics was also used to validate results and ensure more accuracy.Through the GIS tools and remote sensing technique,earth observation data were converted into thematic layers such as lineament density,geology,drainage density,slope,land use and rainfall,which were combined to delineate groundwater potential zones.Based on their respective impact on groundwater potential,the AHP approach was adopted to assign weights on multi-influencing factors.These results will enable decision-makers to optimize hydrogeological exploration in large-scale catchment areas and map areas.According to the results,the southern part of the Wadi Saida Watershed is characterized as a higher groundwater potential area,where 32%of the total surface area falls in the excellent and good class of groundwater potential.The validation process revealed a 71%agreement between the estimated and actual yield of the existing boreholes in the study area. | Cherif Kessar Yamina Benkesmia Bilal Blissag Lahsen Wahib Kébir | 2021 | Journal of Groundwater Science and Engineering2021,9,1: | 1 |
| 16 | Tuning two-dimensional electron and hole gases at LaInO_(3)/BaSnO_(3) interfaces by polar distortions,termination,and thickness显示文摘Two-dimensional electron gases(2DEG),arising due to quantum confinement at interfaces between transparent conducting oxides,have received tremendous attention in view of electronic applications.Here,we explore the potential of interfaces formed by two lattice-matched wide-gap oxides of emerging interest,i.e.,the polar,orthorhombic perovskite LaInO_(3)and the nonpolar,cubic perovskite BaSnO_(3),employing first-principles approaches.We find that the polar discontinuity at the interface is mainly compensated by electronic relaxation through charge transfer from the LaInO_(3)to the BaSnO_(3)side.This leads to the formation of a 2DEG hosted by the highly dispersive Sn-s-derived conduction band and a 2D hole gas of O-p character,strongly localized inside LaInO_(3).We rationalize how polar distortions,termination,thickness,and dimensionality of the system(periodic or non-periodic)can be exploited in view of tailoring the 2DEG characteristics,and why this material is superior to the most studied prototype LaAlO_(3)/SrTiO_(3). | Wahib Aggoune Claudia Draxl | 2021 | npj Computational Materials2021,,1: | 0 |
| 17 | Association of Blastocystis hominis with colorectal cancer:A systematic review of in vitro and in vivo evidences显示文摘BACKGROUND Recently,there have been several findings that showed intestinal colonisation of Blastocystis hominis(Blastocystis)as a risk factor to the worsening of colorectal cancer(CRC).However,studies have shown controversial results in the pathogenicity of Blastocystis.AIM To review systematically the evidence available on the association between CRC and Blastocystis and the prevalence of Blastocystis in CRC patients and to investigate cytopathic and immunological effects of Blastocystis in in vitro and in vivo studies.METHODS PRISMA guidelines were utilised in conducting this systematic review.Original articles published before February 2,2020 were included.PubMed,Science Direct,Scopus and Google scholar databases were searched.Manual searching was carried out to find articles missed during the online search.RESULTS Out of 12 studies selected for this systematic review,seven studies confirmed the prevalence of Blastocystis and found it to be between 2%-28%in CRC patients,whereby subtype 1 and subtype 3 were predominantly seen.A total of four studies employing in vitro human colorectal carcinoma cell line study models showed significant cytopathic and immunological effects of Blastocystis.In addition,one in vivo experimental animal model study showed that there was a significant effect of infection with Blastocystis on exacerbation of colorectal carcinogenesis.CONCLUSION Blastocystis is a commonly identified microorganism in CRC patients.These studies have provided supportive data that Blastocystis could exacerbate existing CRC via alteration in host immune response and increased oxidative damage.Future studies of CRC and Blastocystis should attempt to determine the various stages of CRC that are most likely to be associated with Blastocystis and its relationship with other intestinal bacteria. | Vinoth Kumarasamy Wahib Mohammed Atroosh Deepa Anbazhagan Mona Mohamed Ibrahim Abdalla Meram Azzani | 2022 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2022,14,3: | 0 |
| 18 | Evaluation of photon beam dose calculation accuracy of treatment planning systems using in vivo dosimetry显示文摘Objective The treatment planning system currently represents one of the basics of radiation therapy,because it is the only method to estimate patient dose delivery fast forward and accurately represent estimated tumor location of the tumor with the possibility of estimating densities in the tissue surrounding the tumor to overcome dose calculation defects but radial estimated the patient.Despite the flaws associated with the systems and calculates the dose of your programs in all programs currently existing in the world.Than necessary,to the existence of a review of the accuracy of accounts and how to confirm the radiation dose to the patient programs.Methods A total of 35 cancer patients were considered for this study,with 245 field measurements made with low-and high-energy diode detectors for brain and prostate cases.The treatments for all patients were planned using Eclipse Treatment Planning System version 13.6.Results Of the 105 field measurements made for the prostate cancer patients,16 included discrepancies outside the ±5% action level.Of the 145 measurements taken of the brain cases,there were four outside the ±5% action level.The results indicated a higher degree of accuracy.The study revealed that,for the prostate measurements,the higher discrepancy in the doses for the particular fields(exceeding the action level) may have been due to the isocenter being very close to the jaws and multi-leaf collimator of the linear accelerator machine.As a result,scatter from the jaws and the multi-leaf collimator could have contributed to the high dose delivered to the diode;hence,a probable higher discrepancy of the dose in more brain cases due highest quality of VMAT technique and fixation system.Conclusion A greater percentage of the observed discrepancies were well within the set tolerance level.However,it is recommended that the positioning of the diode on the patient's skin and the angular sensitivity of the diodes be reconsidered.It is also recommended that a more accurate calculation of expected diode values be performed,especially for fields that pass through the table.These efforts would achieve action levels of ±5%. | Mohamed Ibrahim Wahib M.Attia Khaled M.Elshahat | 2016 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2016,2,5: | 0 |
| 19 | Energetic, economic, and environmental analysis of solid oxide fuel cell-based combined cooling, heating, and power system for cancer care hospital显示文摘In this study,energetic,economic,and environmental analysis of solid oxide fuel cell-based combined cooling,heating,and power(SOFC-CCHP)system is proposed for a cancer care hospital building.The energy required for the hospital power,cooling,and heating demands was obtained based on real and detailed field data,which could serve as a reference for future works in the field.These data with a 3D model for the hospital building are constructed and created in eQUEST software to precisely calculate the energy demands of the existing system(baseline case).Then,energetic,economic,and environmental models were developed to compare and assess the performance of the proposed SOFC-CCHP system.The results show that the proposed system can cover about 49% to 77% of the power demand of the hospital with an overall efficiency of 78.3%.Also,the results show that the levelized cost of electricity of the system and its payback period at the designed capacity of the SOFC is 0.087S/kWh and 10 years,respectively.Furthermore,compared to the baseline system of the hospital,the SOFC-CCHP reduces the CO_(2) emission by 89% over the year.The sensitivity analysis showed that a maximum SOFC efficiency of 52%and overall efficiency of 80%are achieved at cell operating temperature of 1027℃ and fuel utilization factor of 0.85. | Ahmad K.Sleiti Wahib AAl-Ammari Raiha Arshad Tarek EI Mekkawy | 2022 | Building Simulation2022,15,8: | 0 |
