1Analyses on the climate change responses over China under SRES B2 scenario using PRECIS显示文摘The PRECIS,a regional climate model system developed at the UK Met Office Hadley Cen- tre for Climate Prediction and Research,which is nested in one-way mode within the HadAM3P,a higher-resolution version of the atmospheric com- ponent of the Hadley Centre climate model HadCM3,is employed to simulate the baseline (1961—1990) climate for evaluation of model’s capacity of simu- lating present climate and analyze the future climate change responses in the time-slice of 2071—2100 (2080s) under SRES B2 scenario over China relative to baseline average. It is indicated from the com- parison of the simulated baseline climate with in situ observation that PRECIS can simulate the local dis- tribution characteristics of surface air temperature over China quite well; generally speaking,the simu- lation for precipitation in the north of China and in winter is better than in the south of China and in summer,respectively; the simulation of precipitation in summer is sensitive to topography,and the simu- lated precipitation values are lower than observations over southeast coastal areas. It is shown from the analyses on the simulated climate change responses in 2080s under SRES B2 scenario relative to base- line that there would be an obvious surface air tem- perature increase in the north of China relative to that in the south of China,and especially in Northwest China and Northeast China,the amplitude ofsummer mean surface air temperature increments could reach 5℃; there would be an overall increase of the simulated precipitation in 2080s under SRES B2 scenario over most areas of China,while there would be significant precipitation decreases in South China in winter; there would be obvious precipitation decreases in Northeast China and North China in summer with high surface air temperature increase. 2Pancreatic cancer and its stroma: A conspiracy theory显示文摘Pancreatic cancer is characterised by a prominent desmoplastic/stromal reaction that has received little attention until recent times. Given that treatments focusing on pancreatic cancer cells alone have failed to significantly improve patient outcome over many decades, research efforts have now moved to understanding the pathophysiology of the stromal reaction and its role in cancer progression. In this regard, our Group was the first to identify the cells(pancreatic stellate cells, PSCs) that produced the collagenous stroma of pancreatic cancer and to demonstrate that these cells interacted closely with cancer cells to facilitate local tumour growth and distant metastasis. Evidence is accumulating to indicate that stromal PSCs may also mediate angiogenesis, immune evasion and the well known resistance of pancreatic cancer to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. 3UFMylation of RPL26 links translocation-associated quality control to endoplasmic reticulum protein homeostasis显示文摘Protein biogenesis at the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)in eukaryotic cells is monitored by a protein quality control system named ER-associated protein degradation(ERAD).While there has been substantial progress in understanding how ERAD eliminates defective polypeptides generated from erroneous folding,how cells remove nascent chains stalled in the translocon during co-translational protein insertion into the ER is unclear.Here we show that ribosome stalling during protein translocation induces the attachment of UFM1,a ubiquitin-like modifier,to two conserved lysine residues near the COOH-terminus of the 60S ribosomal subunit RPL26(uL24)at the ER.Strikingly,RPL26 UFMylation enables the degradation of stalled nascent chains,but unlike ERAD or previously established cytosolic ribosome-associated quality control(RQC),which uses proteasome to degrade their client proteins,ribosome UFMylation promotes the targeting of a translocation-arrested ER protein to lysosomes for degradation.RPL26 UFMylation is upregulated during erythroid differentiation to cope with increased secretory flow,and compromising UFMylation impairs protein secretion,and ultimately hemoglobin production.We propose that in metazoan,co-translational protein translocation into the ER is safeguarded by a UFMylation-dependent protein quality control mechanism,which when impaired causes anemia in mice and abnormal neuronal development in humans.Lihui Wang Yue Xu Heather Rogers Layla Saidi Constance Tom Noguchi Honglin Li Jonathan Wilson Yewdell Nicholas Raymond Guydosh Yihong Ye 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:5
