| 1 | Application of chemical fractionation and X-ray powder diffraction to study phosphorus speciation in sediments from Lake Hongfeng,China显示文摘Based on the techniques of sequential extraction and X-ray powder diffraction(XRD) ,the distribution characteristics of phosphorus speciation were investigated in 13 sediment samples from Lake Hongfeng,an important drinking water source for Guiyang with a typical karstic limestone environment.The total phosphorus(TP) concentrations in the sediments ranged from 973.36 to 2334.18 mg/kg with a mean concentration of 1635.87 mg/kg(dry weight) ,and it was evident that the phosphorus level in the sediments was high compared with other eutrophic lakes such as Lake Chaohu and Lake Xihu.The results of the two methods,sequential extraction and XRD,demonstrated the presence of different phosphorus species in the lake sediments.Being compatible with local geophysical characteristics,the results of sequential extraction techniques indicate that the average percentages of dissolved phosphorus(DP) ,aluminum-bound phosphorus(Al-P) ,iron-bound phosphorus(Fe-P) ,calcium-bound phosphorus(Ca-P) and organic phosphorus(OP) in the sediments were 0.40%,7.06%,5.07%,45.48%and 38.49%,respectively.Notably,the concentrations of inorganic phosphorus(IP) were higher than those of OP,and the IP consisted primarily of Ca-P.The high concentrations of Ca-P may temporarily control the release of phosphorus from the sediments because it is a relatively stable,inert and non-bioavailable phosphorus fraction.The results of XRD analysis indicated that,among phosphorus species,AlPO4 was found in all sediment samples at relatively high concentrations.Moreover,the TP concentrations in the sediments were high;thus the release potential and bioavailability of phosphorus in the sediments was important.Further statistical analyses of the results revealed significant correlations between phosphorus species in the sediments with two extractable principal components and four selectable cluster levels allowing interpretation of possible origins of phosphorus loading and transformation mechanisms of phosphorus species.Furthermore,available remediation measures were briefly assessed for the lake while considering its distinct environmental features. | JIANG CuiHong WU Di HU JiWei LIU Feng HUANG XianFei LI CunXiong JIN Mei | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,20: | 9 |
| 2 | Investigation of Myocardial Stunning after Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Pigs显示文摘Objective To investigate cardiac function and myocardial perfusion during 48 h after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), further to test myocardial stunning and seek indicators for long‐term survival after CPR. Methods After 4 min of untreated ventricular fibrillation, fifteen anesthetized pigs were studied at baseline and 2 h, 4 h, 24 h, and 48 h after restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Hemodynamic data, echocardiography and gated‐single photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion images were carried out. Results Mean arterial pressure (MAP), coronary perfusion pressure (CPP) and cardiac troponin I (CTNI) showed significant differences between eventual survival animals and non‐survival animals at 4 h after ROSC (109.2±10.7 mmHg vs. 94.8±12.3 mmHg, P=0.048; 100.8±6.9 mmHg vs. 84.4±12.6 mmHg, P=0.011; 1.60±0.13 ug/L vs. 1.75±0.10 ug/L, P=0.046). Mitral valve early‐to‐late diastolic peak velocity ratio, mitral valve deceleration time recovered 24 h; ejection faction and the summed rest score recovered 48 h after ROSC. Conclusion Cardiac systolic and early active relaxation dysfunctions were reversible within survival animals; cardiac stunning might be potentially adaptive and protective after CPR. | 3 | Effect of rolling strain on microstructure and tensile properties of dual-phase Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Y alloy显示文摘This study was conducted to discuss the effect of rolling strain on microstructure and tensile properties of dual-phase Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5 Y(wt%) alloy, which was prepared by casting, and then homogenized and rolled at 200℃. The rolling process was conducted with 10% reduction per pass and five different accumulated strains, varying from 10% to 70%. The results indicate that the as-cast and as-rolled Mg-8Li-3Al-2Zn-0.5Y alloys are composed of α-Mg, β-Li, AlLi and Al_2Y phases. After rolling process,anisotropic microstructure was observed. a-Mg phase got elongated in both rolling direction and transverse direction with the addition of rolling strain. Consequently, the strength of the alloy in both directions was notably improved whereas the elongation declined, mainly caused by strain hardening and dispersion strengthening. The tensile properties of the as-rolled alloys in the RD, no matter the YS, UTS or the elongation, are higher than those of the TD due to their larger deformation strain and significant anisotropy in the hcp α-Mg phase. | 5 | Numerical analysis of the two-phase pressure drop and liquid distribution in single-screw expander prototype显示文摘In this paper, the numerical simulations have been carried out to evaluate the two-phase pressure drop and liquid distribution in screw channel. The numerical models are validated against the present experimental data with statistical accuracy. The effects of pitch circle diameter(PCD), inlet velocity and inlet sectional liquid holdup on the pressure drop and liquid distribution characteristics in the screw channel are illustrated. It is found that decreasing the PCD and increasing the inlet sectional liquid holdup can increase the liquid holdup on the outer side in screw channel. The PCD and the inlet sectional liquid holdup need to be considered in evaluating the two-phase frictional pressure drop per unit length in the screw channel. The PCD has an effect on the development of the average pressure in the various cross sections, and the inlet sectional liquid holdup has no visible impact on the changing process of the pressure drop in the screw channel. | 6 | Estimation of soil organic carbon storage and its fractions in a small karst watershed显示文摘With few available soil organic carbon(SOC)profiles and the heterogeneity of those that do exist, the estimation of SOC pools in karst areas is highly uncertain.Based on the spatial heterogeneity of SOC content of 23,536 samples in a karst watershed, a modified estimation method was determined for SOC storage that exclusively applies to karst areas. The method is a 'soil-type method' based on revised calculation indexes for SOC storage. In the present study, the organic carbon contents of different soil types varied greatly, but generally decreased with increasing soil depth. The organic carbon content decreased nearly linearly to a depth of 0–50 cm and then varied at depths of 50–100 cm. Because of the large spatial variability in the karst area, we were able to determine that influences of the different indexes on the estimation of SOC storage decreased as follows: soil thickness > boulder content > rock fragment content > SOC content > bulk density. Using the modified formula, the SOC content in the Houzhai watershed in Puding was estimated to range from 3.53 to 5.44 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 1.24 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 20 cm, and from 4.44 to 14.50 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 12.12 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 100 cm. | 7 | Adjunctive sepsis therapy with aminophylline(STAP):a randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:Sepsis is a serious disease caused by infection.Aminophylline has anti-asthma and anti-inflammatory effects.We aimed to explore the safety and effect of aminophylline in sepsis.Methods:We conducted a clinical randomized controlled trial involving 100 patients diagnosed with sepsis within 48 h after intensive care unit(ICU)admission in two sites.All patients were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive standard therapy with or without aminophylline.The primary clinical outcome was all-cause mortality at 28 days.Results:From September 27,2018 to February 12,2020,we screened 277 septic patients and eventually enrolled 100 patients,with 50 assigned to the aminophylline group and 50 to the usual-care group.At 28 days,7 of 50 patients(14.0%)in the aminophylline group had died,compared with 16 of 50(32.0%)in the usual-care group(P=0.032).Cox regression showed that the aminophylline group had a lower hazard of death(hazard ratio=0.312,95%confidence interval:0.129–0.753).Compared with the usual-care group,patients in the aminophylline group had a longer survival time(P=0.039 by the log-rank test).The effects of aminophylline on vasopressor dose,oxygenation index,and sequential organ failure assessment score were timedependent with treatment.There were no significant differences in total hospitalization days,ICU hospitalization days,and rates of serious adverse events(all P>0.05).No adverse events were observed in the trial.Conclusions:Aminophylline as an adjunct therapy could significantly reduce the risk of death and prolong the survival time of patients with sepsis.Trial registration:ChiCTR.org.cn,ChiCTR1800019173. | Ruifang Zhang Huan Liu Dongmei Dai Xianfei Ding Dong Wang Yan Wang Xuexiu Shi Shuguang Zhang Xiaoguang Duan Haixu Wang Yonggang Luo Shaohua Liu Bing Han Xiaojuan Zhang Yu Fang Jing Yang Wangbin Xu Tongwen Sun | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,23: | 2 |
