A new method to evaluate the hydraulic activity of Al-Si materials显示文摘Slag, fly ash, gangue and 500℃ calcined gangue are analyzed by using identical coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP),X-ray photoelectron spec-troscopy (XPS),infrared spectroscopy (IR) and magnetic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR). Research results show that there is a negative linear relationship between the Si 2p and Al 2p binding energies of Al-Si materials and the compressive strength of aluminosilicate based cementitious materials prepared with these Al-Si materials,i.e. the lower the binding energies, the higher the compressive strength. Indeed, the Si 2p and Al 2p binding energies of Al-Si materials can be used to indicate their hydraulic activity. The binding energies of the four examined materials increase in the order of slag, fly ash,500℃ calcined gangue and untreated gangue. Moreover, the binding energies of Si 2p,Al 2p and O 1s of every Al-Si material have excellent correlation. By using the Al 2p binding energy and 27Al MAS NMR spectra, the coordination number of aluminum in slag is determined to be four, while that in gangue,is six. Based on the aforementioned discoveries, this paper presents a new effective method to evaluate the hydraulic activity of Al-Si materials by using the surface binding energies of silicon and alu-minum of Al-Si materials.LI HuaJian SUN HengHu TIE XuChu XIAO XueJun 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,2:4
Recent developments in multivariate pattern analysis for functional MRI显示文摘Multivariate pattern analysis(MVPA) is a recently-developed approach for functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) data analyses.Compared with the traditional univariate methods,MVPA is more sensitive to subtle changes in multivariate patterns in fMRI data.In this review,we introduce several significant advances in MVPA applications and summarize various combinations of algorithms and parameters in different problem settings. The limitations of MVPA and some critical questions that need to be addressed in future research are also discussed.Zhi Yang Fang Fang Xuchu Weng 2012Neuroscience Bulletin2012,28,4:4

Small Target Extraction Based on Independent Component Analysis for Hyperspectral Imagery显示文摘A small target detection approach based on independent component analysis for hyperspectral data is put forward. In this algorithm, firstly the fast independent component analysis(FICA) is used to collect target information hided in high-dimensional data and projects them into low-dimensional space.Secondly, the feature images are selected with kurtosis .At last, small targets are extracted with histogram image segmentation which has been labeled by skewness.LU Wei YU Xuchu 2006Geo-Spatial Information Science2006,9,2:3
Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis-based analysis provides global insights into the cotton ovule and fiber proteomes显示文摘Proteomic analysis of upland cotton was performed to profile the global detectable proteomes of ovules and fibers using two-dimensional electrophoresis(2DE).A total of 1,203 independent protein spots were collected from representative 2DE gels, which were digested with trypsin and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption and ionization-time-offlight/time-of-flight(MALDI-TOF/TOF)mass spectrometry. The mass spectrometry or tandem mass spectrometry(MS or MS/MS)data were then searched against a local database constructed from Gossypium hirsutum genome sequences, resulting in successful identification of 975 protein spots(411 for ovules and 564 for fibers).Functional annotation analysis of the 975identified proteins revealed that ovule-specific proteins were mainly enriched in functions related to fatty acid elongation, sulfur amino acid metabolism and post-replication repair, while fiber-specific proteins were enriched in functions related to root hair elongation, galactose metabolism and D-xylose metabolic processes.Further annotation analysis of the most abundant protein spots showed that 28.96%of the total proteins in the ovule were mainly located in the Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondrion and ribosome, whereas in fibers,27.02%of the total proteins were located in the cytoskeleton, nuclear envelope and cell wall.Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR)analyses of the ovule-specific protein spots P61,P93 and P198 and fiber-specific protein spots 230,477 and 511 were performed to validate the proteomics data.Protein-protein interaction network analyses revealed very different network cluster patterns between ovules and fibers. This work provides the largest protein identification dataset of 2DE-detectable proteins in cotton ovules and fibers and indicates potentially important roles of tissue-specific proteins, thus providing insights into the cotton ovule and fiber proteomes on a global scale.Xiang Jin Limin Wang Liping He Weiqiang Feng Xuchu Wang 2016Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,2:3
Dissolution properties of calcined gangue显示文摘To study the dissolution mechanism of gangue, dissolution characteristics of the gangue samples calcined at different temperatures in alkaline solutions and alkali metal silicate solutions with respect to Si and Al ions were analyzed by identical coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP). The results show that the extent of dissolution of Al and Si varies with calcination temperature. It shows that the samples have a higher degree of dissolution in NaOH than in KOH medium. Si and Al appear to have synchro-dissolution behavior in alkaline solution, which means that Si and Al could dissolve from the mineral surface in certain linked forms. The result that a higher degree of dissolution exists in sodium silicate solution and a lower degree of dissolution exists in sodium-potassium silicate solution of Al is proved by the 29Si NMR spectra and the mean connectivity degree of these alkali metal silicate solutions.Huajian Li Henghu Sun Xuchu Tie Xuejun Xiao 2006Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing2006,13,6:2
Involvement of the crebellum in sequential finger movement learning:Evidence from functional magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘Whether the cerebellum is involved in volun-tary motor learning or motor performance is the subject of a new debate. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), we examined cerebellar activation in eight volun-teers before and after an extended period of training. Activa-tion volume on both sides of cerebellum after learning was significantly reduced compared to that before learning even under the same motor frequency. Remarkably, while motor frequency for the training sequence was significantly higher than the control sequence after 41 d of learning, activation in the cerebellum for both sequences, with respect to activation loci and volumes, was very similar. These results suggest that the cerebellum was involved in motor learning but not motor performance. Changes of cerebellar activation from training thus appear to be associated with learning but not with im-provement on task performance.ZHU Yihong DI Haibo YUAN Yi REN Jin'ge YU Wei ZHANG Zhaoqi GAO Jiahong WENG Xuchu CHEN Yizhang 2005Chinese Science Bulletin2005,50,17:2
Effects of orthographic neighborhood on reading in Chinese An fMRI study显示文摘BACKGROUND: Much research has focused on neighborhood size in alphabetic languages. Results have consistently demonstrated that the neighborhood effect is a stimulating factor in word reading. The present study addressed whether there are neighborhood effects in Chinese character reading. OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether neighborhood effect exists in Chinese character reading and whether specific brain regions are responsible for it. DESIGN: An event-related design. SETTING: Beijing Anzhen Hospital. PARTICIPANTS: The experiment was conducted at Beijing Anzhen Hospital from October 2004 to December 2004. Undergraduate students, aged 19-24 years, were selected from Beijing Normal University, comprising 13 males and 16 females. Inclusive criteria: ① Neurologically normal and right-handed; ② native-Chinese speakers. All subjects gave informed consent prior to experimentation. METHODS: ① Behavioral experiment: the experiment utilized a 2×2 factorial design. The factors included orthographic neighborhood size (few or many neighbors) and lexical regularity (regular or irregular characters). There was no significant difference between the ratio of regular and irregular characters in each family. The experiment was performed on a notebook PC and was piloted by E-Prime software. A fixation point '+' was presented on the screen for 500 ms,and then the target item was displayed in the same place of the fixation for 2 000 ms. Subjects were asked to read the character aloud quickly and correctly. The target item disappeared once the subject read it. Reaction time (RT) and error ratios were collected and analyzed. ② fMRI study: the study was an event-related design. Each character was presented for 500 ms,and the offset was followed by '+' presented for 1 500 -26 000 ms. Each duration was divided by 500 exactly. The subject was required to read silently. AFNI software package was used to analyze the fMRI data. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① RT and error ratio in behavioral experiment; ② Brain mapping in fMRI study. RESULTS: Twenty-nine undergraduate students were involved in the result analysis. ① Behavioral experiment results of RT: the main effect of regularity was highly significant for participants (F1) and items (F2) F1 (1,28) = 135.74,P < 0.01; F2 (1,76) = 49.506,P < 0.01,with regular words being responded faster than irregular words. The main effect of N was not significant, but was localized in an uncertain area F1 (1,28) = 3.182,P > 0.05; F2 not significant. Moreover, there was an interaction between neighborhood and regularity F1 (1,28) = 6.666,P < 0.05; F2 (1,76) = 3.157,P > 0.05. Analyses of simple effect determined that when the characters were irregular, the RT of low neighborhoods was shorter than high neighborhoods. Behavioral experiment results of error ratio: similar analyses were performed on the number of errors in the naming task. ANOVA demonstrated a main effect of regularity F1 (1,28) = 10.475,P < 0.01; F2 (1,76) = 4.686,P < 0.05,with errors of regular words less than irregular words. The main effect of neighborhoods was not significant. Moreover, there was an interaction between neighborhood and regularity by subjects F1 (1,28) = 7.632,P < 0.05,but not by items F2 (1,76) =3.906,P > 0.05. Analyses of simple effect found that when the characters were regular, the number of errors in high neighborhoods (23%) was greater than in low neighborhoods (11%). ② fMRI results: bilateral fusiforms were sensitive to Chinese character shape. Both neighborhoods effect and regular effect mainly yielded right cerebral hemisphere and bilateral brain area. CONCLUSION: Neighborhood effect existed in character reading. However, results are contrary to what has been shown in English word reading. The fewer neighborhoods that one character had,the shorter the RT was. The fMRI results demonstrated the neighborhood effect and regular effect primarily stimulated right cerebral hemisphere and the bilateral brain area.Hongyan Bi Xuchu Weng 2008Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,2:2
