| 1 | Control of aliphatic halogenated DBP precursors with multiple drinking water treatment processes: Formation potential and integrated toxicity显示文摘The comprehensive control efficiency for the formation potentials(FPs) of a range of regulated and unregulated halogenated disinfection by-products(DBPs)(including carbonaceous DBPs(C-DBPs), nitrogenous DBPs(N-DBPs), and iodinated DBPs(I-DBPs)) with the multiple drinking water treatment processes, including pre-ozonation, conventional treatment(coagulation–sedimentation, pre-sand filtration), ozone-biological activated carbon(O_3-BAC) advanced treatment, and post-sand filtration, was investigated. The potential toxic risks of DBPs by combing their FPs and toxicity values were also evaluated. The results showed that the multiple drinking water treatment processes had superior performance in removing organic/inorganic precursors and reducing the formation of a range of halogenated DBPs. Therein, ozonation significantly removed bromide and iodide, and thus reduced the formation of brominated and iodinated DBPs. The removal of organic carbon and nitrogen precursors by the conventional treatment processes was substantially improved by O_3-BAC advanced treatment, and thus prevented the formation of chlorinated C-DBPs and N-DBPs. However, BAC filtration leads to the increased formation of brominated C-DBPs and N-DBPs due to the increase of bromide/DOC and bromide/DON.After the whole multiple treatment processes, the rank order for integrated toxic risk values caused by these halogenated DBPs was haloacetonitriles(HANs)》haloacetamides(HAMs) >haloacetic acids(HAAs) > trihalomethanes(THMs) > halonitromethanes(HNMs) 》I-DBPs(I-HAMs and I-THMs). I-DBPs failed to cause high integrated toxic risk because of their very low FPs. The significant higher integrated toxic risk value caused by HANs than other halogenated DBPs cannot be ignored. | Yimeng Zhang Wenhai Chu Dechang Yao Daqiang Yin | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,8: | 15 |
| 2 | A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. We propose five theoretical challenges and three application problems of HASM that need to be addressed to improve FTEEM. | Tianxiang YUE Na ZHAO Yu LIU Yifu WANG Bin ZHANG Zhengping DU Zemeng FAN Wenjiao SHI Chuanfa CHEN Mingwei ZHAO Dunjiang SONG Shihai WANG Yinjun SONG Changqing YAN Qiquan LI Xiaofang SUN Lili ZHANG Yongzhong TIAN Wei WANG Ying’an WANG Shengnan MA Hongsheng HUANG Yimin LU Qing WANG Chenliang WANG Yuzhu WANG Ming LU Wei ZHOU Yi LIU Xiaozhe YIN Zong WANG Zhengyi BAO Miaomiao ZHAO Yapeng ZHAO Yimeng JIAO Ufra NASEER Bin FAN Saibo LI Yang YANG John PWILSON | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,8: | 7 |
| 3 | The use of phase-change cooling strategy in proton exchange membrane fuel cells:A numerical study显示文摘Thermal management is considered a critical issue in proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs),since it not only influences the cell performance but also impacts PEMFC’s reliability and durability. With the ever-increasing power density of PEMFC,traditional cooling approaches including air cooling and water cooling become difficult to meet the demand for highpower heat dissipation.Therefore,phase-change cooling is proposed for fuel cell application in this work, and the potential advantages are discussed and demonstrated via a mathematical model incorporating phase-change heat transfer. The thermal management performance is evaluated by temperature uniformity, maximum temperature difference, and the cooling capacity to compare the difference between phase-change cooling and traditional methods, which demonstrates that phase-change cooling owns a greatly improved thermal management performance. In addition,a simple method to broaden the operating temperature of phase-change cooling based on one certain coolant is offered, which is pressurizing in the coolant channel to regulate the boiling temperature that could further improve the application feasibility of phase-change cooling strategy in fuel cells. | YAN XiaoHui PENG YiMeng SHEN YuanTing SHEN ShuiYun WEI GuangHua YIN JieWei ZHANG JunLiang | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,12: | 4 |

| 6 | Dimensional crossover tuned by pressure in layered magnetic NiPS_(3)显示文摘The physical properties of most 2D materials are highly dependent on the nature of their interlayer interaction.In-depth studies of the interlayer interaction are beneficial to the understanding of the physical properties of 2D materials and permit the development of related devices.Layered magnetic NiPS_(3)has unique magnetic and electronic properties. The electronic band structure and corresponding magnetic state of NiPS_(3)are expected to be sensitive to the interlayer interaction, which can be tuned by external pressure. Here,we report an insulator-metal transition accompanied by the collapse of magnetic order during the 2D-3D structural crossover induced by hydrostatic pressure.A two-stage phase transition from a monoclinic(C2/m)to a trigonal(P31m)lattice is identified via ab initio simulations and confirmed via high-pressure X-ray diffraction and Raman scattering;this transition corresponds to a layer-by-layer slip mechanism along the a-axis.Temperature-dependent resistance measurements and room temperature infrared spectroscopy under different pressures demonstrate that the insulator-metal transition and the collapse of the magnetic order occur at~20 GPa,which is confirmed by low-temperature Raman scattering measurements and theoretical calculations. These results establish a strong correlation between the structural change, electric transport, and magnetic phase transition and expand our understanding of layered magnetic materials. Moreover, the structural transition caused by the interlayer displacement has significance for designing similar devices at ambient pressure. | Xiaoli Ma Yimeng Wang Yunyu Yin Binbin Yue Jianhong Dai Jinguang Cheng Jianting Ji Feng Jin Fang Hong Jian-Tao Wang Qingming Zhang Xiaohui Yu | 2021 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2021,64,9: | 0 |
