2Grazing by microzooplankton and copepods on the microbial food web in spring in the southern Yellow Sea,China显示文摘Assessment of microzooplankton and copepods grazing pressure on picoplankton is a key requirement for resolving the microbial food web efficiency.Although microzooplankton grazing on picoplankton has been extensively studied,the impact of microzooplankton on different groups of picoplankton,i.e.,heterotrophic bacteria,Synechococcus and picoeukaryotes have rarely been compared.Furthermore,in the very few existing studies there is no consistent evidence of an enhancing or restraining effect of copepods on picoplankton.More studies are needed to improve our understanding of the influence of microzooplankton and copepod on picoplankton.Dilution incubations and copepod addition incubations were performed during a cruise to the southern Yellow Sea on May 16-29,2007.The bulk grazing of microzooplankton and the calanoid copepod Cal anus sinicus on phytoplankton,flagellates and picoplankton was estimated.Stations were divided into either eutrophic or oligotrophic according to the nutrient and biological parameters.Picoplankton comprised a large part of the diet of microzooplankton in the central oligotrophic area,while phytoplankton was the main food of microzooplankton in the coastal eutrophic area.In the central oligotrophic area,microzooplankton preferred grazing on Synechococcus.After copepod addition,ciliate abundance decreased while Synechococcus abundance increased(382%,64%and 64%at three experimental stations,respectively),indicating strong grazing pressure of microzooplankton on Synechococcus.Our results suggest that Synechococcus might be an essential carbon source the planktonic food web in the oligotrophic waters of southern Yellow Sea.Yuan Zhao Yi Dong Haibo Li Shiquan Lin Lingfeng Huang Tian Xiao Gerald Gregori Li Zhao Wuchang Zhang 2020Marine Life Science & Technology2020,2,4:1

4The suppression of cervical cancer ferroptosis by macrophages:The attenuation of ALOX15 in cancer cells by macrophages-derived exosomes显示文摘Induction of cancer cell ferroptosis has been proposed as a potential treatment in several cancer types.Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)play a key role in promoting tumor malignant progression and therapy resistance.However,the roles and mechanisms of TAMs in regulating tumor ferroptosis is still unexplored and remains enigmatic.This study shows ferroptosis inducers has shown therapeutic outcomes in cervical cancer in vitro and in vivo.TAMs have been found to suppress cervical cancer cells ferroptosis.Mechanistically,macrophage-derived miRNA-660-5p packaged into exosomes are transported into cancer cells.In cancer cells,miRNA-660-5p attenuates ALOX15 expression to inhibit ferroptosis.Moreover,the upregulation of miRNA-660-5p in macrophages depends on autocrine IL4/IL13-activated STAT6 pathway.Importantly,in clinical cervical cancer cases,ALOX15 is negatively associated with macrophages infiltration,which also raises the possibility that macrophages reduce ALOX15 levels in cervical cancer.Moreover,both univariate and multivariate Cox analyses show ALOX15 expression is independent prognostic factor and positively associated with good prognosis in cervical cancer.Altogether,this study reveals the potential utility of targeting TAMs in ferroptosis-based treatment and ALOX15 as prognosis indicators for cervical cancer.Yanlin Luo Yibing Chen Huan Jin Benxin Hou Hongsheng Li Xiang Li Lingfeng Liu Yuan Zhou Yonghua Li Yong Sang Song Quentin Liu Zhengzhi Zou 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,6:0
5Investigation on Agronomic Characters of Dwarf Mutant 778 in Broomcorn Millet(Panicum miliaceum L.)and Analysis of Its Sensitivity to GA显示文摘In order to investigate the differences between agronomic traits of dwarf mutant and original material 260 and whether the cause of dwarf is related to GA synthesis or signaling pathway,this experiment used dwarf mutant 778 and its original material 260 as experimental materials.Morphological observation and determination were performed for agronomic traits on plant height,ear length,internode length,internode number,seed length,seed width and number of seeds in different growth periods and different concentrations.The plants were treated by GA spraying,and the changes of plant height,root length,stem width,leaf length and leaf width were measured.The results are as follows:①The plant height of the dwarf mutant material was significantly different from that of the original high material,which was mainly caused by the difference between above-ground basal part and the length of the first and second elongation joints.②Comparing and analyzing the differences of traits between dwarf mutant material 778 and original high material 260,it was found that the plant height,ear length,internode number,grain number per ear and internode length of dwarf mutant 778 were significantly lower than that of high stalk 260(P<0.01),and the seed length of dwarf mutant 778 was significantly higher than that of high stalk 260(P<0.05).③Different concentrations of gibberellin(0,50,100,200 mg/L)had no significant effect on plant height and root length of dwarf mutant 778(P>0.05).Different concentrations of gibberellin had significant effects on plant height,root length and sensitivity coefficient of high stalk 260(P<0.05).And compared with the control group,all high materials 260 treated with different concentrations of gibberellin performed differently in plant morphology and growth potential.④Under the conditions of 100 and 200 mg/L GA,the difference of plant height between the dwarf mutant and the high stalk control decreased with time,and there was no difference at the end.There were no differences in sensitivity coefficient GRI between different concentrations of gibberellin treatment groups,indicating that the external gibberellin could restore the scorpion dwarf mutant to the original high stalk,and the gene that causes the mutation might be related with the gibberellin synthesis pathway.Bo ZHANG Xiaojie LIU Yingjie GUO Xiaoping JIA Dezhi YANG Yuan ZHAO Lingfeng DAI Shujun KOU Xiaomei ZHANG Dianyun HOU Xuehai ZHU 2020Agricultural Biotechnology2020,9,4:0
6Dual inhibition of glucose uptake and energy supply synergistically restrains the growth and metastasis of breast cancer显示文摘Metastatic breast cancer(MBC) is one of the most common and knotty diseases in female population which could place them in a life-threatening condition. For malignant proliferation and migration, cancer cells require a large amount of glucose and energy to meet the demand of rapid metabolism. Hence,efficiently diminishing the utilization of energy substances by cancer cells is emerging as validated therapeutic strategies for cancer therapy. Herein, a nanoplatform with dual-inhibition of glucose uptake and oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS) was designed, which consisted of albendazole(ABZ) and atovaquone(ATO) by simple carrier-free self-assembling. The introduction of ABZ could evidently decrease glucose uptake to reduce the main “energy fuel” of cancer cells. Meanwhile, as a blocker of OXPHOS, ATO would reduce adenosine triphosphate(ATP) production and ameliorate hypoxia microenvironment by suppressing mitochondrial respiratory chain. Under such dual inhibition of energy metabolism, AA NPs exerted synergistic energy exhaustion effect and outstanding hypoxia improvement function, efficiently inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis.
