2Shining light on transition metal sulfides:New choices as highly efficient antibacterial agents显示文摘Globally,millions of people die of microbial infection-related diseases every year.The more terrible situation is that due to the overuse of antibiotics,especially in developing countries,people are struggling to fight with the bacteria variation.The emergence of super-bacteria will be an intractable environmental and health hazard in the future unless novel bactericidal weapons are mounted.Consequently,it is critical to develop viable antibacterial approaches to sustain the prosperous development of human society.Recent researches indicate that transition metal sulfides(TMSs)represent prominent bactericidal application potential owing to the meritorious antibacterial performance,acceptable biocompatibility,high solar energy utilization efficiency,and excellent photo-to-thermal conversion characteristics,and thus,a comprehensive review on the recent advances in this area would be beneficial for the future development.In this review article,we start with the antibacterial mechanisms of TMSs to provide a preliminary understanding.Thereafter,the state-of-the-art research progresses on the strategies for TMSs materials engineering so as to promote their antibacterial properties are systematically surveyed and summarized,followed by a summary of the practical application scenarios of TMSs-based antibacterial platforms.Finally,based on the thorough survey and analysis,we emphasize the challenges and future development trends in this area.Hecheng Han Jingjing Yang Xiaoyan Li Yuan Qi Zhengyi Yang Zejun Han Yanyan Jiang Martina Stenzel Hui Li Yixin Yin Yi Du Jiurong Liu Fenglong Wang 2021Nano Research2021,14,8:2
3The mechanisms of melanogenesis inhibition by glabridin:molecular docking,PKA/MITF and MAPK/MITF pathways显示文摘Glabridin is the main ingredient of hydrophobic fraction in licorice extract and has been shown to have anti-melanogenesis activity in skins.However,the underlying mechanism(s)remain not completely understood.The aim of this study is thus to elucidate the possible mechanisms related to the melanogenesis suppression by glabridin in cultured B16 murine melanoma cells and in UVA radiation induced hyperpigmentation model of BALB/c mice as well.Molecular docking simulations revealed that between catalytic core residues and the compound.The treatment by glabridin significantly downregulated both transcriptional and/or protein expression of melanogenesis-related factors including melanocyte stimulating hormone receptor(MC1R),microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF),tyrosinase(TYR),TYR-related protein-1(TRP-1)and TRP-2 in B16 cells.Both PKA/MITF and MAPK/MITF signaling pathways were found to be involved in the suppression of melanogenesis by glabridin in B16 cells.Also in vivo glabridin therapy significantly reduced hyperpigmentation,epidermal thickening,roughness and inflammation induced by frequent UVA exposure in mice skins,thus beneficial for skin healthcare.These data further look insights into the molecular mechanisms of melanogenesis suppression by glabridin,rationalizing the application of the natural compound for skin healthcare.Chunxing Pan Xiaoying Liu Yating Zheng Zejun Zhang Yongliang Li Biao Che Guangrong Liu Lanyue Zhang Changzhi Dong Haji Akber Aisa Zhiyun Du Zhengqiang Yuan 2023Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,1:2
4Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding. 5The Lushan earthquake and the giant panda:impacts and conservation显示文摘Earthquakes not only result in a great loss of human life and property,but also have profound effects on the Earth’s biodiversity.The Lushan earthquake occurred on 20 Apr 2013,with a magnitude of 7.0 and an intensi­ty of 9.0 degrees.A distance of 17.0 km from its epicenter to the nearest distribution site of giant pandas record­ed in the Third National Survey was determined.Making use of research on the Wenchuan earthquake(with a magnitude of 8.0),which occurred approximately 5 years ago,we briefly analyze the impacts of the Lushan earthquake on giant pandas and their habitat.An earthquake may interrupt ongoing behaviors of giant pandas and may also cause injury or death.In addition,an earthquake can damage conservation facilities for pandas,and result in further habitat fragmentation and degradation.However,from a historical point of view,the im­pacts of human activities on giant pandas and their habitat may,in fact,far outweigh those of natural disasters such as earthquakes.Measures taken to promote habitat restoration and conservation network reconstruction in earthquake-affected areas should be based on requirements of giant pandas,not those of humans.Zejun ZHANG Shibin YUAN Dunwu QI Mingchun ZHANG 2014Integrative Zoology2014,9,3:0
6PtCu-SnO_(2)nanocomposites for ultrasensitive and rapid ultra-low formaldehyde sensing显示文摘SnO 2 nanospheres with diameters of 30∼50 nm and Pt x Cu 1-x bimetallic nanoparticles with sizes of approxi-mately 10 nm were synthesized via hydrothermal and solvothermal methods,respectively.The Pt x Cu 1-x bimetal-lic nanoparticles were impregnated on the surface of the SnO 2 spheres to form Pt x Cu 1-x-SnO 2 nanocomposites.By varying the atomic ratios between platinum(Pt)and copper(Cu),we found that Pt 0.75 Cu 0.25-SnO 2,with a large specific surface area of 89.21 m 2/g,enabled the selective and accurate detection of low-concentration formalde-hyde compared to other metal-deposited samples and pure SnO 2.The response value of Pt 0.75 Cu 0.25-SnO 2 to 500×10−9 formaldehyde was approximately 20 at an operating temperature of 160◦C with an extremely high-speed response(15 s).The porous structures with large specific surface areas,as well as the improved catalytic effects of Pt 0.75 Cu 0.25,comprehensively contributed to the enhanced sensing performance towards formaldehyde.Zejun Han Yunxiang Tang Guixia Lu Yuan Qi Hao Wu Zhengyi Yang Hecheng Han Xue Zhang Lili Wu Zhou Wang Jiurong Liu Fenglong Wang 2022ChemPhysMater2022,1,3:0
7Construction of Live Attenuated Vaccine against Vib- rio alginolyticus and the Evaluation on Its Immuno- protection Effect显示文摘Vibrio alginolyticus,a gram-negative bacterium has been described to be one of the most common and economically important aquatic pathogens of fish and shellfish. Vaccine immunization is an effective approach preventing V. alginolyticus infection. Attenuated vaccine stimulates systemic immune response in the host,but few attenuated vaccine against V. alginolyticus is available. The type III secretion system( T3SS),an important pathogenic factor of V. alginolyticus,is used by bacterial pathogens to inject effector proteins into the cytoplasm of their host cells. The T3 SS forms a structure called needle complex with a multi-ring base that spans the bacteria and a needle-like extension that protrudes several nanometers from the bacterial surface. vscO locates at the ' needle' site of T3 SS,playing the role of escorting the molecular chaperone and effector proteins into host cells and further inducing the death of host cells. In this paper,an in-frame deletion mutant of vscO was constructed using overlap PCR and homologous recombination technology combining with chloramphenicol( Cm) and sucrose screening. The LD50 changes of ZJ03ΔvscO mutant strains compared with the strain ZJ03 were examined in grouper( Epinephelus coioides). The ZJ03ΔvscO mutant showed about 150 times decrease in virulence in E. coioides compared with wide type ZJ03. After vaccination with ZJ03ΔvscO in E. coioides through injection and immersion,the specific antibody titers were markedly higher than that in the saline control group( P < 0. 05). The titers of injection and immersion group on the forth week reached the maximums at 1∶ 2 048 and 1∶ 128,respectively. The relative percentage survival( RPS) of injection group was 84%,while that in immersion group was 68%.These results indicate that the ZJ03ΔvscO of V. alginolyticus has a high immunogenicity,and can be used as live attenuated vaccine. In addition,RPS may be affected by vaccination and infection methods. 8Detection of the Farthest Globular Cluster NGC 6715 and Two Other GCs in Gamma-Rays with Fermi-LAT显示文摘In this paper,~12 yr long-term Pass 8 data from Fermi Large Area Telescope for the 157 globular clusters are carefully re-analyzed.Besides the 31 globular clusters reported in the fourth Fermi Large Area Telescope catalog Data Release 2,NGC 1851 is identified as a gamma-ray emitter and the significant gamma-ray emissions from NGC 6715 and NGC 6723 are detected.Especially NGC 6715 is located at a distance of 26.8 kpc,so far it is the farthest globular cluster detected in gamma-rays.A detailed analysis for these three globular clusters has been performed,but their gamma-ray pulsation emissions or flux variabilities are not found.The numbers of millisecond pulsars(MSPs)in these globular clusters are estimated under the assumption that each MSP inside globular clusters emits a similar amount of gamma-rays.Some possible origins of gamma-ray emission from globular clusters,such as MSPs,pulsar binary systems and/or dark matter,are discussed.Min Yuan Chongyang Ren Pengfei Zhang Zejun Jiang Li Zhang 2022Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2022,22,11:0
9Janus hydrogel with dual antibacterial and angiogenesis functions for enhanced diabetic wound healing显示文摘Anti-infection and neovascularization at the wound site are two vital factors that accelerate diabetic wound healing. However, for a wound healing dressing, the two functions need to work at different sites(inner and outer), giving big challenges for dressing design. In this study, we fabricated a novel sodium alginate/chitosan(SA/CS) Janus hydrogel dressing by the assembly of SA hydrogel loaded with silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs) and CS hydrogel impregnated with L-arginine loaded sodium alginate microspheres(Arg MSs) based on electrostatic interactions to combine the two functions. The outer SA-Ag NP hydrogel could prevent infection while avoiding the deposition of Ag NPs in the wound site, and the inner CS-Arg MS hydrogel on the wound surface could realize the sustained release of L-arginine and promote vascular regeneration. The composition, morphology and swelling/degradation of the SA-Ag NP/CS-Arg MS hydrogel were characterized systematically. L-Arginine release behavior has been tested and SA-Ag NP/CSArg MS hydrogel has been confirmed for excellent biocompatibility. Antibacterial and angiogenesis assays demonstrated the antibacterial and angiogenesis characteristics of the SA-Ag NP/CS-Arg MS hydrogel. 10Solution-processed D-A-π-A-D radicals for highly efficient photothermal conversion显示文摘Organic donor-acceptor semiconductors exhibit great potential in photothermal conversion.However,it is still challenging to achieve pure organic materials with broad absorption comparable with inorganic materials such as graphene.Herein,two D-AD type DPA-BT-O4 and NDI-TPA-O4 and three D-A-π-A-D type Th-O4,Th2-O4,and IDT-O4 were readily prepared via two high-yield steps and simple air oxidization.The stability can be attributed to their multiple resonance structures based on the aromatic nitric acid radical mechanism.Compared with the D-A-D radicals,the conjugation extension of the D-A-π-A-D radicals endows them with a narrowed band gap and broad absorption in powder.Interestingly,the IDT-O4 powder with aggregation-induced radical effect exhibits broad absorption between 300 and 2500 nm,which is comparable with graphene and other inorganic materials.Under irradiation of 0.9 W/cm^(2)(808 nm),the temperature of IDT-O4 powder rises to 250℃within 60 s.The water evaporation conversion efficiency of 94.38%and an evaporation rate of 1.365 kg/m^(2)h^(−1)under one sun illumination were achieved.IDT-O4 stands as one of the most efficient photothermal conversion materials among pure organic materials via a rational design strategy.Jiaxing Huang Zejun Wang Weiya Zhu Yuan Li 2024Aggregate2024,5,1:0
