2Numerical investigation on the “S” characteristics of a reduced pump turbine model显示文摘The performance of a reversible pump turbine with S-shaped characteristics is of great importance to the transition processes such as start-up and load rejection. In order to predict the S-shaped curve accurately and develop a reliable tool for design improvement, a shear stress transport model (SST) with various numerical schemes for pressure term in the governing equation was investigated in a whole pump turbine including spiral casing, stay vanes, guide vanes, runner and draft tube. Through the computation, it was shown that different zones in the curve should employ different schemes to get the solution converged. Comparison of discharge-speed performance showed that good correspondence is got between experimental data and CFD results. Based on this, internal flow analysis was carried out at three typical operating points representing turbine mode, shut-off mode and reversible pump mode, respectively. 3Late stage thermal history of the Songliao Basin and its tectonic implications: Evidence from apatite fission track (AFT) analyses显示文摘Apatite Fission Track (AFT) data from the Songliao Basin indicates that the late stage tectonic movements in the Songliao Basin have zoning in space and episodes in time. The late stage tectonic movements started from the east part of the basin and migrated westward. AFT ages in the east part of the basin are older than those in the west part of the basin, suggesting that the uplift occurred earlier in the east than in the west. The denudation thickness in the east part of the basin is significantly greater than that in the centre and west. The thermal history evolved two episodes of rapid cooling and subsequent slow cooling processes. Age-depth relationship derived from the AFT data indicates a four-episode denudation history. Further Monte Carlo random simulation of the AFT data reveals the four changing points of the thermal evolution at 65 Ma, 43.5 Ma, 28 Ma and 15 Ma, respectively. The uplifting and denudation rates from different episodes of evolution are proportional to the plate convergence rate. Based on the above analyses and the regional geologic background, it is concluded that the late stage thermal events in the Songliao Basin are the far field response to the subduction of the Pacific Plate under the Eurasian Plate. The first episode of the rapid cooling probably started at the end of the Nenjiang Formation, climaxed at the end of the Cretaceous and ceased at the Late Eocene. The subsequent slow cooling lasts another 15 Ma. The first episode of the evolution is the far field response to the major episode of the Yanshan Movement and subsequent series of the tectonic reorganization, especially the directional change of the Pacific Movement and also the subduction of the Indian Plate underneath the Eurasian Plate. While the second episode of the evolution is the far field response to the extension and closure of the Sea of Japan. 5Corrosion protection of waterborne epoxy coatings containing mussel-inspired adhesive polymers based on polyaspartamide derivatives on carbon steel显示文摘A novel mussel-inspired adhesive polymer(PHEA-DOPA) containing the 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine(DOPA) functional group based on polyaspartamide derivatives was synthesized. The corrosion protection of the waterborne epoxy coatings containing the adhesive polymers was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The results indicated that the PHEA-DOPA could improve the corrosion resistance of the waterborne epoxy coating. The corrosion products were also analyzed by Raman microspectroscopy(RM), indicating the formation of the insoluble DOPA-Fe complexes on the carbon steel surface. These complexes simultaneously acting as a passivating layer, can inhibit the process of corrosion at the metal-solution interface. The differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) measurement indicated that PHEA-DOPA can increase the crosslinking density of coating. The effect of O_2 on the protective mechanism of the PHEA-DOPA coating in a 3.5% NaCl solution was also evaluated by EIS. The results indicated that the barrier effect was significantly improved under aerated conditions because DOPA was oxidized to DOPA-quinone(Dq) by O_2, which triggered the reaction with Fe ions that were released from the surface of the carbon steel. 6Stochastic fluctuations of permittivity coupling regulate seizure dynamics in partial epilepsy显示文摘Partial epilepsy is characterized by recurrent seizures that arise from a localized pathological brain region. During the onset of partial epilepsy, the seizure evolution commonly exhibits typical timescale separation phenomenon. This timescale separation behavior can be mimicked by a paradigmatic model termed as Epileptor, which consists of coupled fast-slow neural populations via a permittivity variable. By incorporating permittivity noise into the Epileptor model, we show here that stochastic fluctuations of permittivity coupling participate in the modulation of seizure dynamics in partial epilepsy. In particular, introducing a certain level of permittivity noise can make the model produce more comparable seizure-like events that capture the temporal variability in realistic partial seizures. Furthermore, we observe that with the help of permittivity noise our stochastic Epileptor model can trigger the seizure dynamics even when it operates in the theoretical nonepileptogenic regime. 8Epithelial protein lost in neoplasm (EPLIN):Beyond a tumor suppressor显示文摘The majority of cancer-related deaths are caused by tumor recurrence,metastasis and therapeutic resistance.During the late stages of tumor progression,multiple factors are involved,including the downregulation and/or loss of function of metastasis suppressors.Epithelial protein lost in neoplasm(EPLIN),an actin-binding protein,was initially identified as a putative tumor suppressor that is frequently downregulated in epithelial tumors.Recent evidence indicates that EPLIN may negatively regulate epithelia-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT),a crucial process by which cancer cells acquire invasive capabilities and therapeutic resistance.Importantly,downregulation of EPLIN is associated with clinical metastasis in a variety of solid tumors,suggesting that EPLIN could be a suppressor of metastasis.In this review,I will discuss the regulation and function of EPLIN in human cancer cells and explore the clinical significance of EPLIN in metastatic disease.Daqing Wu 2017Genes & Diseases2017,4,2:1
9~1H MAS NMR spectra of kao-linite/formamide intercalation compound显示文摘The high spinning speed 1H magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (1H MAS NMR) technique was employed to distinguish the two groups of surface hy-droxyls of kaolinite and investigate the intercalation mechanism of kaolinite/formamide compound. The proton chemical shifts of the inner hydroxyl and inner surface hydroxyl of kaolinte are in the range of δ-1.3--0.9 and δ 2.4-3.0 respectively. After formamide intercalation three proton peaks were detected. The proton peak of the inner surface hydrox-yls of the intercalation compound shifts to high-field with δ2.3-2.7, which is assigned to the formation of the hydrogen bond between the inner surface hydroxyl and formamide carbonyl group. Whereas, the proton peak of the inner hydroxyl shifts to δ-0.3 toward low-field, that is attributed to van der Waal’s effect between the inner hydroxyl proton and the amino group proton of the formamide which may be keyed into the ditrigonal hole of the kaolinite. 16PERTURBATION SOLUTION OF SECONDARY FLOW OF POWER-LAW FLUID IN HELICAL PIPES WITH CIRCULAR CROSS-SECTION显示文摘In terms of tensor analysis technique, the Navier-Stokes equations in helical coordinate system were derived. A steady incompressible flow of power-law fluid in helical pipes at low Reynolds number was investigated by the perturbation method. A second order solution of secondary flow was worked out. The secondary flow characteristics in helical pipes are analyzed. The effects of the number Dn, curvature and torsion on the secondary flow at different flow parameters were discussed. The results show that the secondary flow pattern changes from a single vortex to two vortices as the number Dn increases at a given curvature and a given torsion. Because of the effect of torsion, the secondary flow pattern changes from two almost symmetrical vortices to a single vortex as the torsion of the helical pipe increases while the Reynolds number and curvature hold constant.
